An investment of $600 is more like a hobby.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 GPU profit is super when mining ethereum classic 8 cents with free electricity, although there are other coins where the profit is 14 cents.
https://whattomine.com/gpus/53-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1660-super?cost=0.1&cost_currency=USD

You're talking about 8 cents, ok
With free electricity  Cheesy
We're doomed  Cheesy

Because Ethereum Classic mines a lot of ASICs, and it will take a long time to try to accumulate this coin with such a profit. ASICs are profitable because 1 ASIC mines like 50 1660 super video cards or more. I would probably mine Кaspа.

2383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: In your opinion, which altcoin do you think is going to be the new king of POW on: September 22, 2022, 10:38:49 AM
I keep checking my classifieds and I am seeing 2 types of listings.

First is someone saying they will buy any and all mining GPUs. Saying why sell 1 by 1 when you can sell everything to them. They mentioned that they won’t pay inflated prices. Most likely buy GPUs at half price and flip on ebay?

Second is someone selling a GPU and every ad it mentions “never mined with”. So you know it was mined with.

Even if it was mined with there is no problem if the card has been taken good care by a good knowledgeable miner.I plan on starting operation soon of my rigs, well not that soon,in 1 January where we will have the 5x energy price removed by then.I even think to build a new rig now because I can buy a used one for 800-1000 EUR for like 200-250 Mhsh rig and I will not care mining at a loss because I know the bull run will come sooner rather than later despite no one expecting it nowadays.

But how can you verify the actual condition of the GPU if you are just buying it online since most of the seller on item like this is from different country. Unless you can do meetup then it’s very hard to assure the condition of the mining rig without looking on it in actual performance. Buying this kind of rig even in salvage value is very risky because there’s a lot of scammer online that might sell you rig with hidden defects and just use this Ethereum merger hype as reason to sell his GPU.
It is better to buy one or two video cards from sellers with good reviews, so as not to buy many video cards with defects. Now the markets for PC components are full of offers in all countries, because mining is unprofitable.
There used to be ethereum, but so far I don't see a replacement for this coin.

lolMiner 1.58
Changes
Added Kaspa only mining mode for Nvidia Pascal and new and AMD Polaris, Navi and Big Navi. Use --algo KASPA to mine it. Fee is 0.75%.
Tuning advice: On Nvidia Turing and Ampere GPUs this algorithm works best when locking the core clock to desired value (higher gives more performance, lower reduces power draw). We recommend to not set the power limit. Also to save energy, the memory clock can be chosen rather low. On Linux you can use --mclk 810 (but when you change back to an other algorithm you might need to reset this or reboot the rig).

Wait a minute ! y would it be tough even in a bull market !? i was planning to save my cards for the next bull run ! r u saying its essentially GAME OVER for all PoW miners with power cost of 0.1$ kwh ?!...
Even if the price is 0.05, then this is also a GAME OVER.
Selling video cards for a good price is very difficult now, so it's better to hold on to them. But if you have already paid off your investment, then you should not worry too much about it. As long as the bear market, the price of graphics cards will be low.
2386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Poor Nvidia and AMD on: September 21, 2022, 12:20:17 PM
They never really wanted to be in the crypto business anyway. I think they’re fighting to try and get control of the AI and self driving car markets for the coming years. With things like augmented reality & the metaverse becoming more common, I think they’ll do just fine no matter what. I’ve even been a buyer of AMD on this dip.

Nvidia is spending a lot of budget on AI from many years now and they even come up with some data that showed a completely self driving car in Germany not that long ago however I have not read or heard any news of the same from AMD,most probably AMD is not heavily invested in this.

The prices of video cards are falling down dramatically right now at ebay I saw brand new 3060 ti for 399 USD which is a really good price, also the Rtx 3080 at near 700 USD is again a normal price compared to what we had in the bull run.I think they will fall even more and maybe it is time to get some and wait for the right time to put them back to work.
What video cards are used in AI?
NVIDIA Tesla V100 is reported to be more efficient, it consumes less power than the current 3090 and 4090 by several times and has better computing performance? The 3060 ti is good for gamers, but what's the use of it in AI computing?

You're brave enough to invest in such dark times  Cheesy
I don't know how you guys get free electricity, but if it's free, you'll always be in profit

Soon or later hashrate will reduce if prices don't rise (for ETC, ERGO, RVN, ETHW etc) and you can benefit, but again, with no costs of electricity, you're ahead of 99% of another miners

How much are you earning per day?

An investment of $600 is more like a hobby.

2388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 4090 and others on: September 21, 2022, 12:01:07 PM
Wrong timing, I doubt anyone will want this graphic cards right now, not miners and not the gamers themselves, RTX 3060 and other 3*** cards are flooding the market and in the next few months its going to get more serious, gamers will be able to lay hands on these cards for a cheaper price than buying the new RTX 4*** cards.
The Nvidia RTX 4080 price varies depending on the model that you buy, with pricing for the RTX 4080 12GB starting at $899 USD / £949 GBP while the RTX 4080 16GB will set you back $1,199 USD / £1,269 GBP.
https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia/rtx-4080-release-date-price-spec-and-benchmarks
For $900, gamers will probably buy a new modern video card with the latest technology, instead of the used RTX 3090 for $600-700.
2389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.56: Significantly faster Flux mining on AMD and Nvidia on: September 21, 2022, 11:57:04 AM
That's in HiveOS

I'm trying to make it work in Windows (7), which seems not supported yet.
You'd better install windows 10 and install the latest drivers for your graphics card to run the latest miners. Windows 7 has not been used by miners for a long time and there is a problem with many algorithms. Although there is no point in mining on your video card.

2390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW EthereumPoW on: September 21, 2022, 11:37:37 AM
Ethereum PoW hit by replay exploit
How was the attack initiated?
The hacker first sent 200 wrapped ETH on the PoS mainnet using the Gnosis chain’s Omni bridge. It was a standard bridge transfer. The same message (call data) was then replayed on the ETH PoW chain to get 200 ETHPoW (ETHW) tokens.

The attack could take place because the Omni bridge didn’t correctly verify the chain ID associated with the cross-chain message.

I can write 10 ASIC models, but video cards have no opportunities to compete with ASICs on this algorithm.

Crypto miners are in panic mode right now, no coin is profitable at the moment but I am still crazy enough to build my first ever Nvidia mining rig today, still four graphic cards onboard but will add two later, mixed with Ti and Super 1660, I got the card for 120$ each and since free electricity is here I believe in few months many will leave the mining space and things will cool off again.

I know many will talk Sh** about this decision of mine but man its been fun.

With such a profit, you will not earn much money even on free electricity. Even if the profit grows to 40 cents from your video card, it is still very little to earn. But I'm not sure that in 2 months the situation will change a lot.

Is it worse here or not?

Its been like this for years however with Bitcoin mining. Every once in a while some pool gains popularity that it needs to increase pool fees to make miners switch to a different pool.

In the past they were many times when a pool had >51% hashrate and nothing happened.
Then there is no reason to panic. Ethereum follows the path of Bitcoin
2396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I don't trust Nvidia on: September 18, 2022, 10:28:43 AM
Due to the (very) high powerbills RedPandaMining has switched off most of his mining rigs.
Not everybody can sustain the electricity costs of today as not everyone has access to solar power or low electricity prices.
Mining has not died. But it has become difficult to look for prorfit coins. Before this, there were many bloggers who were housewives, and then they learned how to install video cards in a raiser and connect it all to the motherboard Smiley
The market needs to clear out newcomers who knew nothing but Ethereum. I've watched miner chats, and you can't imagine how many fools there are. Without detailed instructions, they cannot create a new BAT file or set up the mining of a new coin in Hive OS.
I'm not going to shut down mining farms even if there is a loss, because I want these fools to sell their video cards faster.
Maybe it's rude?

Noone said mining died and Red Panda Mining said it quit well in his YT video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBacdw6gf14
and maybe it is a bit rude and selfish as you have access either solar power and/or very cheap electricity costs  Wink
Now it makes no sense to talk about profit even on free electricity. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 will pay off in 5 years.
We need to wait until the GPU miners capitulate.
2397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 4090 and others on: September 18, 2022, 10:21:58 AM
Finally, only gamers will buy this gpu, the question is how much nvidia will sell it for, 3080 for 400 usd and this gpu for 3000 usd is not going to sell, gamers are not stupid like miners. They will rather buy a 3080 for 400 usd and say **** off to nvidia hehe

By the way I will buy one 4090 if performance is 2x 3080 and if price is less than 1500 usd, I need for deep learning and gaming.
Why do you need this heater? This graphics card will have even more mining problems than the RTX 3090
2398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining: Datas sent to wi-fi network ? on: September 17, 2022, 01:08:20 PM
Hello guys, I have a question:

I'm using 10 computers to mine a crypto (CPU mining). These computers are not linked on an internal network (intranet or servers of a company for example), they are "independent".

However, I use the private wi-fi network of a company, same for the 10 devices.

My question is: Could the company see and locate crypto mining devices? And how would they proceed ? I don't know if my question is clear!

Thanks, have a nice day.
Do your computers belong to the company and are located in the company's office?
Or computers are located in your separate office and you use Wi-Fi from another company so as not to pay for the Internet?
I think in the first situation it is very easy to detect mining, in the second situation, when entering the administration panel of the router, the admin sees the number of connected devices and traffic.
If the Internet is unlimited and the administrator does not care about this, then no one will detect you, but this is illegal.

In fact, it's a shop. There are +- 30 computers (exposition models for sell, they don't really need to be connected to internet, but they are for updates), and I put the miner on 10 of them. They are not registered to the company, but yes, they are connected to the private wifi of the shop... There is another wifi (public), but it doesn't work with this one...

There are a lot of smartphones connected to the private wifi network, so I thought it could pass, it could be 10 people mining with their personal smartphone!

But I'm maybe wrong... It's a huge shop (hypermarket), so I think they'll never notice about the electricity, my question was more about the data shared and if the devices could be located !
If this is a large store and many devices are connected to the router: computers, TVs, telephones, then the administration will probably not track this traffic if there are no complaints from other employees.
Buddy, this is crap. The buyer will think that he bought a new PC, but will receive a PC with an overheated socket. You harm other people.
