There is nothing called "safest".

Any wallet can still be hacked or cracked, it depends on how vulnerable your mind is.

Still, some are more vulnerable than the others.
For example, blockchain.info is better than coinbase, as you don't need to worry about the site vanishing.
Similarly, offline wallets (created correctly) are better than online wallets, as you don't need to worry about keylogger and hacking.

Offline wallet isn't 100% foolproof. Yes, they are more secure than any other method. But, if the device that generated the offline wallet have problems with the RNG like what happened to android last time, you can also be hacked. It may not happen but you still have to pay attention to the bitcoin news and move your bitcoin if your wallet had vulnerabilities.

Yes, and so I have emphasized the offline wallets need to be created correctly.

Regarding the safety, a paper wallet generated with internet connection would be completely different from a paper wallet generated without internet connection.

What forum services could I do to earn a bit of change? I thought of signature campaigns, but nobody really wants a newbie advertise their websites.

Actually there is one you can try that. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=636079.0;topicseen

That is the only program accepting newbies, but please note that it is promoting a ponzi (and so the ponzi owner may vanish at any time without paying)...
245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is cloud mining with PBmining.com profitable ??? on: June 15, 2014, 09:13:50 AM
yea I have 145gh/s on pbmining and they are paying me the exact amount which is shown in bitcoin mining calculator..
Cool Cool  they have a 5 year contract.. lets wait and watch if they keep on paying me till they GH/s expires.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
and if u have an account on pbmining you can see the global status of people mining.

like this guy makes like 1 coin a day with about 26011 gh/s  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
and do you believe that coins from actual mining? Grin
if you understand how to mine work, we won't see your payout same with calculator
in my mind, they just do "fantasy mining" and everyone pay from that calculation based on that calculator, not actual mining Tongue
imo

Exactly.
The weekly payment amount is calculated using formula, and the bitcoin is not sent from block outputs. Cheesy
246  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 15, 2014, 09:11:36 AM
Hello,
I'm new to BitCoins and I wanted to know if faucet pages are really worth the time?

No.

Many faucet users don't realize they can spend their time on some other more productive things. They simply get too excited for FREE bitcoin.
247  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is kraken.com a scam? on: June 15, 2014, 09:05:10 AM
Bullshit.

kraken.com is the biggest EUR market, one of the most well-known, but it has awful API !

It is now a considerably big exchange, but at the moment the thread was created, it was a very new exchange. (There were just 3 tweets on its twitter page at that time.)

Thanks Stunna for running the happy hour.

I rolled a 99.99 with the 20000 satoshi from faucet, but unfortunately it was a 2x low bet rather than a 9900x high. Tongue
251  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I check the balance on my paper wallet? on: June 15, 2014, 07:03:06 AM
So if I use Coinbase's paper wallet feature (which i plan to), I'm assuming my balance still will not show up on the blockchain?  If so, how would I easily monitor my balance on my Coinbase paper wallet?

Coinbase gives you an address and the private key in an image that you print out. Then you send your coins to the address on the paper wallet.

You have the private key, so it is your address and only you control it. Any coins sent to that address will remain there until you send them to another address.

You can monitor the address by entering it into a blockchain explorer site (e.g. blockchain.info).

If you are going to create a paper wallet, I would suggest you to use Electrum or Bitaddress without internet connection, instead of coinbase.
First, we don't know if coinbase has logged anything down.
More importantly, we don't know how good their PRNG is (how much entropy).

I guess that makes sense to use escrow services. It's basically a trustworthy middleman who holds the money and makes sure both people really follow through with their deal, correct?

Exactly. As an example, the following is the escrow process of escrow.ms (one of the most trusted persons here).
Escrow Process
1. Buyer and seller both needs to contact me and provide details of deal.
2. I will then send them a confirmation pm and both need to agree it.
3. Buyer need to make payment to me and include escrow fees (If he's paying escrow)
4. I will then send seller a payment confirmation pm.
5. Then Seller needs to provide item to buyer and pm me tracking/proof so i can check it and confirm delivery with buyer
6. Upon buyers confirmation,I will release escrow.

I think thats not good enough proof there bots, you know how many posts that you can find that match?  Especially with one liners,  "WTG"

"I want to buy that and ETC"........  come with more proof then that.

It is not surprised to find similar posts like "I want to buy that", but how likely you can come up with exactly the same long lines like
Code:
bitcoin in a separate offline wallet the time just in case price happens to skyrocket to 10 000's or millions
Code:
It's a nice enough amount that you could earn a bit of money if you hold it for long enough but not so much that it's a big loss if you lose it or whatever
255  Other / Meta / Re: Possible spambots "hey, i am fresh here" on: June 15, 2014, 06:38:17 AM
If you think the above 5 examples are not enough, what about the following 5 more examples?

I keep atleast 1 bitcoin in a separate offline wallet all the time just in case price happens to skyrocket to 10 000's or millions.

So i'd say 1 bitcoin is a decent investment. I normally buy something like 0.3 bitcoins per month.. i haven't sold any yet (exchanged to altcoins maybe) but all the time i have had 1 whole bitcoin untouchable.
I kept  10 bitcoin in a separate offline wallet  the time just in case price happens to skyrocket to 10 000's or millions. its safe or not
in a separate offline wallet  .

In my opinion it is. It's a nice enough amount that you could earn a bit of money if you hold it for long enough but not so much that it's a big loss if you lose it or whatever. Just know the risks.
It's a nice enough amount . you can earn a bit of money if you hold it for long enough but not so much that it's a big loss if you lose it or whatever.

Hey guys, I was wondering how you buy bitcoins. What exchange/service do you use and why? I'm a newb and want to start buying some bitcoins and I'm leaning towards coinbase because of it's ease of payment, although I do not know how long it takes for bank transfers to complete. Gox is to centralized it seems, and getting money into Gox seems to be very hard, especially with Dwolla, which has many hoops on its own. I wish I could use a smaller exchange like Bitstamp, but I don't know how to easily deposit money there, and Bitinstant doesn't help much, I don't want to drive to do a cash deposit, and the fees are high. Thanks for your input Cheesy

Another list of escrows:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0

This one contains ranking, rating, and announcement thread information.

Thanks for the list.
IMO, one slight problem of it is that it puts John K in first place, without mentioning he has a history of disappearing while holding escrows for months...
257  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: a few questions on: June 15, 2014, 06:13:41 AM
none of the exchanges are to be trusted, to be honest. coinbase is not a real exchange, and is probably the most trustworthy of the lot. Bitfinex, to be honest, is very shady IMO, and now that Bistamp liquidity has been removed from its order books, it is a very illiquid exchange. to just buy (and not trade) Bitstamp is worth looking into.

I haven't follow bitstamp news recently. Have anything bad happened to it?  Huh

well, some people have been complaining that they have been getting increasingly invasive with KYC procedures. some have suggested that this may be a tactic to stall on withdrawals (suggesting insolvency), but that seems unlikely to me.

I have heard of the first part (people having verified and done lots of trades suddenly need to answer a long list of KYC questions, before he can do further withdrawals or trades) but not the latter part.

Thanks for your clarification. Smiley
258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: TechnoCashier.com-Buy/Sell/Exchange bitcoin,Litecoin,Ripple,PerfectMoney,paypal on: June 15, 2014, 06:01:06 AM
Hi All,

I'm sorry to post this here, since I just need some help from you and got no other choice.

Many days ago I clicked from the OKPAY.com partner page to technocashier.com , making an exchange to BTC-E USD ($5000),  but get nothing till now, OKPAY transaction ID 3116676. which they state will finished in 48 hours. I'm not sure why OKPAY.com let this possiblely scam website to be their certified partner?

Then today I have searched a lot to claim this technocashier.com was scam, but at first I trust okpay.com so I just made this payment with no search on the beginning. I don't know how to get my BTC-E USD finally. I just need some help.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear your loss, but I guess there is nothing you can do now.
You are clearly not the only victim judging from the posts here...

Don't you know there is an India sub forum?

That has been suggested right in the first reply in this thread...
