Also, how secure is it if someone tried to steal my money?

If you make paper wallets then it's just a matter of physical security.
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we make BTC mainstream? on: March 22, 2014, 05:45:55 AM
Easy to buy BTC with fiat or sell BTC for fiat. Bank transfers are slow in today's world.

More Bitcoin ATMs?
I've seen other financial institutions have other businesses like UPS stores, Gas stations, etc... accept cash for deposit on accounts. Maybe an exchange can set something like this up?

251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin statistical analysis: when will Bitcoin disappear entirely. on: March 03, 2014, 06:56:14 PM
I've always wondered if they could implement something like if coins are inactive for lets say 10 years they are recycled back into the system, and if you are holding all you'd have to do is remember to move your coins from one of your wallets to the other every decade and you'd be fine. Just a different idea, maybe an alt coin will use the idea at some point.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *13 Exchanges on: February 27, 2014, 12:59:12 AM
Hashrapid is a total scam pool, do not mine with them they steal coins then blame it on their servers. This has happened multiple times to multiple people on multiple coins!

Keep your auto payout as low as possible, this goes for every pool you ever use. It's not a bank or wallet...
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TiPS ★ Kimotos Gravity Well ★ World first coin anonymizer launched! on: February 26, 2014, 03:48:33 AM
Was the article for cryptocoinnews ever submitted?

I am wondering this as well, some of us donated with an urgency because we wanted to see this article get out there as soon as possible.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: hashrapid.com pool scam??? [CARBON coin] on: February 25, 2014, 12:14:27 AM
This is why you set your auto payout low. Things happen, and the pool is not a bank.

If you read the Terms of Service on hashrapid or most pools you'll see this:
Quote
The Pool is not an e-wallet or a bank for your coins. The Pool and it's operators are not responsible for any loss of coins which are stored on the Pool. It is your responsibility to configure your account so that the coins you mine are regularly transferred to your own secured offline wallet.

I have seen people horde tons and tons of coins on pools, like 5+ BTC value worth of coins. For what reason? Wallets get corrupted, hard drives go bad, etc... and then people freak out. It's not your wallet, get the coins off there as soon as possible. Most reputable pools will reinforce the idea of a low payout, because they know that shit breaks.

Now, I am not saying there is not corrupt pool operators out there but that's a whole other issue.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Scary future of BitCoins - the Death? on: February 25, 2014, 12:04:19 AM
BitCoin's transaction times are too long. Credit Cards still works faster, and the store knows they have received an authorization right away. No one is going to want to wait around for 10 minutes while a transaction waits to be confirmed.

I own Bitcoin, so I do not want it to die however it's just to slow.
256  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: Do you think Mt. Gox will survive? on: February 24, 2014, 04:00:02 AM
People used Gox because it was mentioned in the media a lot. I think everyone learned there is better exchanges now, and hopefully the media follows suit and forgets about Gox.

TIPS was introduced to a whole other market (chinese) on bter.com yesterday. This is helping a lot with the price jump.

We need to release a chinese version of fedoraco.in as well as other languages.

I think the price is starting to stabilize if anything, which is still amazing. We were in the 30's 24 hours ago.
