241  Other / Off-topic / How important is merit for you? on: May 08, 2018, 11:30:29 AM
We all know since the merit system started, merit becomes valuable as some other things, because merit is one of two major factors for us to rank up.

So I just wanna know how important is merit for you? And If you compare merit with any other things, what it is?
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum's birthday on: May 08, 2018, 09:58:31 AM
Ethereum was proposed in late 2013 by Vitalik Buterin, a cryptocurrency researcher and programmer. Development was funded by an online crowdsale that took place between July and August 2014.
The system went live on 30 July 2015, with 11.9 million coins "premined" for the crowdsale. This accounts for about 13 percent of the total circulating supply.

So the initial release was on JULY 30, 2015. In three months, ETH will celebrate its 3 year in cryptoworld.

Madaling paraan?
246  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source suggestion on: May 06, 2018, 11:42:04 AM
Think about this question then lock the thread, do you think that the top senders are mining there own merits on the merit testnet or something?

Where the fuck do you think all of those merits have come from?

It came from merit faucet. Is that right?

Just kidding, I just want to know who are the merit sources and you said the answer by just asking a question. Nice!
247  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Merits: sa madaling paraan on: May 06, 2018, 11:13:47 AM

Pawer!
248  Other / Meta / Merit source suggestion on: May 06, 2018, 10:10:10 AM
Are all of the most generous merit senders of all time in merit stats are merit sources?
If not then, I suggest to make them as merit sources.

What's the point of being a merit source when you can't even bother to merit quality and meritable post?
249  Other / Meta / Re: Why is it complicated to get merits on: May 06, 2018, 08:45:33 AM
OP if everyone could get merits easily wouldn't it defeat the purpose?

If everyone could get merits then it would break the wisdom of the merit system. Say for example every bitcointalk users are merit sources, then it is just like saying that there is no merit at all.
250  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to avoid bounty scams in bitcointalk on: May 06, 2018, 08:39:15 AM
In order to avoid bounty scams you need to consider 2 things:

1. CHECK THE PROJECT - you need to do research about the bounty, the project team, the whitepaper because some might just copy and paste it, the advisors, roadmap, bounty pool and ofcourse the founder you need to be a good observer, check their background because sometimes by just merely observing and reading you will know right away if the bounty is a scam.

2. CAMPAIGN MANAGER - the one that you should always consider, because if the bounty manager is scammer then the bounties itself is a scam, and it is really obvious if the bounty manager has a negative trust then surely he or she is scammer, one thing to consider also is the rank of the bounty manager the higher the rank the higher the legit factor, you can always do research here there are many list of legit and reliable bounty manager and the list of all bounty manager scammers.

thank you for your kindness!
hope it helps!

Thanks for the information. But do you have a list of campaign managers who are not scammers.??

check this thread, it's a list of legit bounties.

252  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you think it is fair to save merits for low-ranked members? on: May 05, 2018, 12:14:00 PM
we consider it as a form of charity.
Merit is not charity. If you want it, you'll have to earn it.

I know, actually it depends on the user.
253  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you think it is fair to save merits for low-ranked members? on: May 05, 2018, 09:57:07 AM
It's not fair. Higher-ranked users still need sMerits to reward other users. You should merit posts that deserve it, regardless of rank.

Yeah but lower rank users is badly in need of merit to level up, we consider it as a form of charity.

This forum isn't a charity. Hopefully those looking for charity rewards will go elsewhere now that merits have been introduced. They were screwing u the forum for those of us who don't mind working for a living.

I got you, but in my own opinion there is a difference between equality and justice.
So, if you treat others equally you mean that regardless of the rank you will give merit to those who have quality post.
But if you choose justice you will give merit to those in need of merit but also deserving to have merit and who posts quality posts.
In other words prioritize lower rank users who are also deserving to have merit.

255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum reached $800 mark on: May 05, 2018, 06:58:41 AM
There is a lot of positive momentum in the crypto market right now though it remains to be seen how long the momentum will last. Currently, Ethereum is on a bull run. The coin is outperforming the rest making it altcoin of the moment.

The coin has gained over 12% in the past 24 hours and this has helped it cross the $800 mark for the first time since the early weeks of March. As of this writing, Ethereum has a market cap of $79,250,101,351.

256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The reason people do not want to invest in crypto on: May 05, 2018, 04:24:51 AM
One of the major factor is that crypto prices are unpredictable. No one can say when it will rise up and when it will go down, and it changes every second. Some says that crypto prices specially bitcoin are being manipulated by crypto billionaires.
257  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Any knowledgable thoughts on how to create a healthy environment for ICOs? on: May 05, 2018, 04:15:27 AM
Throughout my experience, i came across a lot of ICO scams. Wouldn't it be great if we can find a way to fix this? Apart from doing due diligence & research on your own, is there any other way to invent some kind of safety features for the ICO dilemma? Let's share our thoughts & idea here...something that's realistic perhaps?

One initiative I am very happy with is the "Inverted KYC". IcoBench asks members of the ICOs team´s to prove identity and possibly a bit of the background and makes an special mention of those who pass this requisite.

I really like the idea of inverted KYC, for me it really helps us to avoid scams here. And also one thing to consider is the bounty manager, the one who manage bounty campaign of the ICO.
258  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you think it is fair to save merits for low-ranked members? on: May 05, 2018, 04:07:27 AM
I don’t  get enough smerits to spend as often as I would like to. This has made me decide that I am only going to give merits to lower ranked members; I won’t give any for Legendary members and maybe not to Hero members either.

I think it is better due to scarcity to save them for people who have a long way to rank up rather than for those who are at the top already and get merits easily.

What do you think about? Do you do the same? Do you think it is fair?

I agree with you. It is indeed a help to merit lower ranks that post a quality post.

Thank you for your generosity! More power!
I hope many higher rank members here in bitcointalk has that generosity and fairness like you.
