241  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 30, 2020, 11:35:05 AM
We often speak of Bitcoin mooning and I sometimes wonder how managing an enormous newfound wealth might inevitably impact my life and mental state.  A slippery slope no doubt

Yeah, this is a valid concern for many of us... I've heard of people who won the Lottery (several $M) and two years later they were penniless and owing to banks...

I think it's up to the individual, his character and attitude towards life. Personally, I feel it won't change me or affect my mental state etc., but no one really knows until he gets into that "fuck you rich" state. We'll know soon enough.  Wink
A co worker at my wife's job won two lotteries in one month. 2 MILL AND 7 MILL

he ended up divorced and working as an airport security guard.

The job he quit paid 110k the airport job was less then 1/2 that. It took under three years for the money to be lost.

I feel dumb asking such a seemingly simple question, but sold my gpus a year and a half ago and thinking about testing the waters now that eth mining seems to be somewhat profitable. Currently mining my 1650 super that I had bought for personal use and I have room for 3 more cards in my case.  What are the thoughts on the RX 580?  Looks like the 8 GB models can be had for around $125ish with about 30 Mh/s.  Are these a good buy or is there something I am missing?
power hungry look for 8gb 5500  they do 28 mhs and lower power look for visiontek 8gb model
243  Economy / Economics / Re: Monkeys: Don't do trend analysis! (with poll) on: August 25, 2020, 04:01:09 AM
Yes we can predict price.

Can we do it with any degree of accuracy?

Yes but only about 1 second in advance.
244  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: License to Sell Bitcoin in Person as Oppose To Online Exchange? on: August 25, 2020, 02:47:44 AM
Well every country has different rules.

PLUS THE USA has 50 states with different rules. So explaining the why is not easy.

Over 2 months with this stupid bulls*it??? Hahaha. Buyers should at least lower their bids by the daily earnings lost, playing circle jerk with this Cluster f%&k.

I considered that but coins went up. So at 900 plus shipping I am still good.
To be fair my farm was a bit heat capped for the summer so I am okay with the delay.

I just did not want to deal with Tesla the op and the op s friend .

If he gets them in hand soon I wooul take two one for me and one for the general
Time is ticking and I have been adding gpu rigs. As I can use PayPal

One of these 53 th units earns about 4.80 a day. Uses 2300 watts I have l
NOS mother boards. If I buy three amd GPU's for 900 the three card rig earns more then the s17 pro it earns about 5 and uses four hundred watts. Plus six months to pay on paypal. I added five gpu rigs and can add three more. At that point I would need more psu and motherboard.  So I have a limit. I would buy the

keeping the BTC hold/hoard..but awaiting a sh*tcoin/altcoin pump..about 10% of my hoard is that....they may hit the wind

on around 18 to 20k btc...i might flush the works at that point...what would be 'confusing' is if they went 'bubble high' as they did

while BTC was pumping back in the day....that will be an interesting 'pucker' choice..if that happens Smiley

anyway, like all plans it is probably based on 'fantasy' and I will hodl and accumulate both like an 'old lady' with cats...

(damn, a constant state of wtf and wtf should I do since I got into BTC/crypto in 2013....consitent confusion...as a mode of operation I have it seems. Smiley
sell 10% of.your stash at 14k say 10 of 100 coins leaves you 90. Sell 10% or 9 of the 90 at 16 k.  Sell 8 of the remaining  81 at 20 k you are now down to 73 coins and you cashed 27 coins for more then 500k.
248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 16, 2020, 11:53:54 PM

249  Other / Archival / Re: Why are these posts necessary? on: August 11, 2020, 05:17:02 PM

wrong.  Many sections make you wait for 24 hours.

The poster may simply erase the post leave a  .   or mark delete. and then forget to clean it up.

So it can be for keeping post count high.  And it can be due to board rules not allowing a delete.

Could you please alter your post to reflect it is not fully correct.
Yes, I might be wrong but based on those dates which is over weeks already or even months, it's either they just keep them there for post count, or just forget about it.

As for me, I'm always reviewing my post history (Idk for some of people here) and deleted post which isn't necessary especially signature applications.

Yeah my main account is too big with too many posts to bother to check.

I would bet I had to have forgotten to fully delete at least a few . Or delete posts.

Maybe I will go back and check a few pages from 2017. Or 2015.
250  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 11, 2020, 05:05:30 PM
don't go before showing us your TA

Fat chance on that. I saw in another thread where he said he sold everything at $6k. I smell butthurt.

C'mon, Jono, be a good dog.

Sorry Ed

I do respect most people, you included.  But i dony like to be made out to be a troll, just because i sold at 6k. Cheesy

I was just pinting that out.
Just pointing out, it has gone below 6k since then.

Let me just get this on record..   Are you going to hold your crypto over the next few months?
I am holding  BTC until 50k or Nov 1.  I am holding Doge until 10 cents or Nov 1

If you remind me on Nov 1.

I will let you know if I am selling.  As for your 2k prediction it could happen but not before Nov 1 of this year.

A crash is possible if USA Russia and China all agree to out law it.
251  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: "Bitmain shop is under maintenance." - Bitmain bankrupt or possible return? on: August 08, 2020, 12:38:58 AM
Bitmain used to have hash nest. They spun them off and created bitdeer. They certainly can spin bitdeer off and start a third cloud next year or whenever they need to.
252  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there a list of members of the forum (preferably trusted) with ln nodes? on: August 06, 2020, 02:27:17 AM
Ive made a start: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5266907.msg54940969#msg54940969

I had trouble opening a node with eclair - apparently a connection problem but I had it via cable and mobile signal so not sure what could cause that... My electrum might do better.

@phil looks like a decent spec for running it, I think the full node syncing is the hardest problem to get past for now (and then electricity costs).

Once this major.
Power
Internet
Cable
Outage is fixed in NJ I will get back to you.
253  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there a list of members of the forum (preferably trusted) with ln nodes? on: August 06, 2020, 12:09:16 AM
I built a rig to do it. Got busy and did not hook it up.

I would have full size blockchain
1tb nvme m.2 ssd's
64 GB ram
Optimum 200 mb speed

255  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 05, 2020, 04:57:45 PM
The ignorant masses see Bitcoin and PMs rising in price and think it's because they are in some kind of speculative bubble.

It's called "real value assets repricing against a plummeting dollar."

I SEE that and more.
256  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 Pro no longer hashing. Bad ASICs ? on: August 05, 2020, 04:51:38 PM
Good as I dropped the last  4 digits of phone. Let him know that you found him from bitcointalk. He fixed two of my m20s and he fixed steamtyme m20s.
257  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 Pro no longer hashing. Bad ASICs ? on: August 05, 2020, 03:38:41 PM
@philipma1957

Was it you that said somewhere you have a repair contact in NC somewhere?  I got and S17+ for almost free with my Bitmain credit just prior to the virus. One board isnt reading (temp sensor error). I created a DOA repair ticket with Bitmain, and they wanted me to ship it to Asia for repair because CA faculty was closed due to virus. The agreed to honor my request to wait for CA to re-open..... but..... I'm still waiting.
It's running fine on two boards, but was wonder what kind of costs i might incur to ship to NC dude for repair.  Might even be able to hand deliver... I have several friends from here in PA who work down there, and they go back n forth often.

I do. I need to look at my threads here. Major storm knocked out power. Internet. Cable. Slowed cell phones.  Let me see if I posted the link in another thread.

Go to page 2  of this section. Steamtyme has a repair thread on his m20s. I gave a phone and a link  copying links on a cell phone is hard for me.  But the number is 919 283

If we're going to spend an entire August in 11xxx range... well, that's fine with me.

It's a good range!

Stability is good, sometimes trading in a sideways range for significant period is a good thing. Se were in the $9’000’s for a while before we broke out. I’m cool with being in the $11’000’s for a month or two if it means we break out & push towards $14,000 or something by November.
This is very important, bitcoin for the most part has gone above the 10k barrier but is has been unable to remain there for long, when looking at the historical data from coingecko this is what I get.

Days in a row above 10k.
From 28 NOV 2017 to 30 JAN 2018    63 days
From 01 FEB 2018 to 01 FEB 2018      1 day
From 16 FEB 2018 to 21 FEB 2018      6 days
From 23 FEB 2018 to 24 FEB 2018      2 days
From 27 FEB 2018 to 07 MAR 2018   9 days
From 22 JUN 2019 to 16 JUL 2019      25 days
From 19 JUL 2019 to 23 JUL 2019      5 days
From 01 AUG 2019 to 28 AUG 2019      28 days
From 03 SEP 2019 to 21 SEP 2019      19 days
From 23 SEP 2019 to 23 SEP 2019      1 day
From 10 FEB 2020 to 10 FEB 2020       1 day
From 12 FEB 2020 to 15 FEB 2020       4 days
From 19 FEB 2020 to 19 FEB 2020       1 day
From 02 JUN 2020 to 02 JUN 2020       1 day
From 28 JUL 2020 to TODAY       8 days and counting
Total: 173 days

Number of days above 10k by year
201733 days
201847 days
201978 days
202015 days and counting

2020 is the year where unpredictable things have happened which was not expected, or people have not seen in decades of their life. We are witnessing many things for 1st in our life and this year just could be the change for bitcoin as well and witness something which we had not seen till now.

Let's hope it is good for us and btc. I WANT 12345.67 SOON!

At the moment my internet is down. Storm knock me out. I would need to see the wall socket  that you have. There are a few ways to hook the gear up. But I need to see your wall socket.
260  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [300 PH][BTC PPS 100%][EN/CN/RU] Sigmapool.com on: August 03, 2020, 06:33:05 PM
I simply read Meni's white paper which says the larger percent of the network the greater the risk.   My real world numbers show that more then ten percent of the network would chew up the reserve far more quickly then under 1 % of the network would chew up the reserve number kano used.  It quickly degenerated into a name calling and now it most likely will never be repaired.

Btw the pool decided to switch and survived so maybe kano was right about them not being able to sustain the payout long term.

Does not matter much as the damage is done.
