Our learning-impaired whale friend continues to dump.  Why he doesn't just sweep the bid stack down to zero, I do not know, because he obviously doesn't care how much money he leaves on the table.

I will call him Dipstick.

KNC Miner dumping (making half a million dollars a day). They aren't concerned about price.
Edit: nevermind. OP was deleted:

BTW, I have a couple of stories about internet voting fiascos in Brazil, too.  Undecided

This is why Brazil should only be involved only when the world needs a good football match, maybe. Leave the important stuff, like crashing the world's economy, to America. Wink

Actually, Jorge is pretty on the ball here (not surprised at that, it's his field). Of course, you can still stuff the paper ballots but it's a lot harder.

He's obviously knowledgeable about voting systems.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 23, 2014, 10:01:23 PM
I have learned many interesting stories about electronic voting but they are too long and too off-topic to tell here...

It's OK. As they say, dinosaurs die and the world keeps turning. Voting will continue to trend to electronic. It's fun to hear you bray at it.

...I am then forced to infer that he is not deeply attached to the facts.  Either his motive or his method are corrupt, a dilemma...

What I find particularly strange is his lack of seeing the forest for the trees. A major thrust in his life (until he began spending each waking moment here determining how much the Chinese were trading) seemed to be fighting voter fraud. Bitcoin or similar tech could eventually be an answer to that. He's a fucking computer scientist, and instead of actually helping to solve the voting issue HIMSELF using crypto, he spends day after day calculating fake Chinese exchange data. He could be his own hero instead.

He must have been personally affected by that exchange closure he keeps ranting about. It colours his view on everything. But to cut him some slack, it is easier when one is older to just sort of complain about stuff and not really do much actual work to change things. One gets tired and cranky as the years roll by.

Had a nice conversation with a banker today over some Guinness and Irish stew. He overheard me ask the bar manager if they accepted Bitcoin for payment. Banker had heard of Bitcoin but didn't know much. He was very inquisitive and receptive to the idea.

He kept coming back to "the volatility" and I would just reiterate that, from a commercial standpoint there were companies who would take that risk (BitPay and Coinbase), and from a personal standpoint that is called "market risk," like any speculative investment. Eventually he got it.

Finally he said, "But..." and there was a long pause as he was out of arguments. I interrupted and said, "What you're realizing in this moment is the paradigm shift. Western Union, out of business. Credit card companies, out of business. Banks? Well, we will see."

He recognized it could change all payments, credit, cash, checks, international, and that it could possibly put a hurting on bank fees. He held onto the fact banks still make loans. I didn't have the heart to tell him that might wane if they couldn't make absurd money from fees. He'll figure it out.

Am I guessing wrong?

Dunno. Not into guns and such myself. Just offering some cultural M80 info.
251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 22, 2014, 03:00:14 AM
... Roger Ver ... "M80"s

m80's can blow fingers off but they are still kinda popular especially in more rural areas. It's one of the reasons we have laws on the limits for the more common fireworks because m80s used to be more popular and kids were blowing fingers off. This was probably 20-40 years ago. But again, in rural areas, people use them for killing varmints and illegal fishing, farm kind of stuff.

Sorry, I am a computer scientist, not an economist...

Why did I chuckle when I read this?

I had to fill up my tank, and was caught in a naked long squeeze.

Is this a bad thing? It sounds good.

Those $15 Nakamoto haircuts don't pay for themselves. (Or perhaps they do?)

Trading Bitcoin is sometimes like predicting what a herd of gazelle may do at any given time. Leave them be and they naturally want to graze forward occasionally reproducing more, more, more. Show them a lion and all hell breaks loose for a while, whether the lion was indeed a lion or even just a lion-shaped shadow.

NewsWeak's "finding Satoshi" was basically equivalent to:

...but it was good for $15 drop if one expects the herd to scramble.

I have to say, that was a fantastic piece of sarcasm.

Thanks! What other forum poster packs as much quality into one post? Humour, world news, intelligent commentary (such as my latest fact-filled '-3' post). You get it all when you read my posts. I may soon need to move to a subscription based model however, as I am providing far too much entertainment value for free.

The polls here are completely useless (like most discussions, see: +1, +2, +3, ...).
I would like to see serious polls with answers that make sense.

Exactly! The inter-dimensional space vibrations caused by European numerals is just too cumbersome, if you follow me.

Rome is in Europe. The numbers used in Europe are Arabic.

Hey, it looks like you understand sarcasm! Kudos to you!

good call... we need to go to Roman numerals to conserve space.

MCMLXXXVII?
