241  Economy / Exchanges / Re: $86m+ stolen from HECO bridge. ANOTHER Justin Sun service HACKED on: November 22, 2023, 05:15:46 PM
-snip-
What's going on here. Do you think this is suspicious from Justin Sun's part?
Definitely another warning to never keep funds in exchanges!

I read an article a few days ago and apparently, the identity of the Poloniex hacker has been verified, and the hacker must return the funds before the 27th of November (while keeping 10M $) otherwise Justin would seek help from law enforcement. So yeah, I doubt he's dumb enough to make such a statement if he's connected to the hack in any way, shape, or form. That could easily backfire.
242  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: JoyID - A passwordless wallet on: November 22, 2023, 04:38:24 PM
From my understanding, the approach is different than what's being used in exchange apps, and wallets where the biometrics are used to unlock the app. I'll try to get in touch with Cipher, I think he could shed more light on all of this.
243  Economy / Service Discussion / Bit.store card on: November 22, 2023, 04:29:11 PM
Just saw a press release[1][2] of this service called bit store. I thought I'd share it, and also get some reviews in case anyone has used them before. The card have 2.5% top-up fee, and the company claims that KYC verification is not mandatory with a limit of 10K USD per month.

244  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BTC not showing up on Blockchain.com wallet--been 10 hours on: November 20, 2023, 08:00:02 AM
What do you mean by "it has been confirmed that the BTC is received"? Did Coinbase confirm that the funds have been sent? or did you check the TXID?

If the latter, then you may want to start by checking that the receiving address is the correct one.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can you help me locate a wallet with knowing my ip address? on: November 19, 2023, 06:06:38 PM
No, definitely not.  Could you explain what you're trying to achieve though? Are you trying to locate someone who stole from you? why would you try to locate your own wallet and how would that help you with anything?

Blockchain Analysis

247  Other / Meta / Re: How does total time logged in count? on: November 19, 2023, 12:00:41 PM
-snip-

That's very possible, or maybe the way of calculating has changed over time. I'm not sure but this is just based on some tests I have done a very long time ago by the way. It's not something the administration mentioned.

I actually think I also had a bot running at some point, and it did show 24 hours as logged-in time, after 24 hours of running the bot and visiting pages every few seconds, but again, I could be mistaken.
248  Other / Meta / Re: How does total time logged in count? on: November 18, 2023, 06:53:48 PM
That's interesting. I was curious to know how exactly total time logged in is calculated, but never seen thread where it's explained well. So, as I understand, if I would open Bitcointalk and would leave tab with it open without doing anything, while on other tab I would start watching Youtube videos for more than 1 hour for example, then only 15 minutes would add to my my total time logged in?

Yes, that should be the case if my memory serves me correctly.
249  Other / Meta / Re: How does total time logged in count? on: November 18, 2023, 04:32:09 PM
If I remember things correctly (someone corrects me if I'm wrong), it's whenever you're active.

So, let's say you're logged in, and then you visit a page, you are then considered "active" for the next 15 minutes and that's counted towards your logged-in hours. If you visit another page after 5 minutes only, then it'll start recounting after those five minutes which would make your logged-in hours 20 minutes.
250  Economy / Exchanges / Re: USDT/BTC to Fiat in Turkey on: November 18, 2023, 11:49:33 AM
I appreciate everyone's response. Now since I know that there are OTC desks and offices to exchange BTC and USDT to USD or EUR, I want to know if anyone has used any of them. I'd like to hear some reviews.

I'm aware of Coinsfera which was mentioned above, and I know they had an office in both Dubai and London, but I can see they're both closed now, so I'm a bit skeptical as to whether they are to be trusted or not? I can't find much info about them online aside from the Google maps reviews.

252  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Urgent Help Needed for BRD Wallet Bitcoin Recovery on: November 16, 2023, 10:24:11 AM
It seems like you've tried pretty much everything I can think of.

But when you say it didn't work, specifically with Electrum. How does that work? did you get different legacy addresses than the ones you were expecting to have? and did you make sure to select BIP39 in "Options"?

This article should explain the process: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/restoring-your-multibithd-wallet-in-electrum/

Make sure you followed everything as described here.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain DeFi wallet on: November 16, 2023, 07:45:09 AM
its probably the same thing but explained differently . however bitbox article dig more into details . as for the other open source wallet suggested here  i found electrum was hacked in 2019  ???https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/5084

It was a phishing attack actually, yes and it got patched and fixed already.

Like I said, unlike blockchain.com, Electrum cannot be targeted the same way, because no private keys are hosted in their servers.

so i guess no option is truly safe but i think exodus would be slightly better than blockchain.com

Assuming it's truly noncustodial as they claim, then yes.

hardware wallets like trezor are not convenient for multi day to day transactions as you need to be more careful and caring with the device and execution.

You can always buy a hardware wallet, keep most of your funds in it and the rest could go into a hot wallet in your PC/mobile.
254  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which BTC Payment Methods for your business? on: November 15, 2023, 04:51:03 PM
Are my buyers also going to be signing up for the payment methods using those on my list?  If they are then I can see this is not what they want as well.
I'm already distracted by what you said. It must be hard to sell using my own wordpress site and I have to continue paying for the server which would take time before I get sales. I thought eBay was dead.

blockonomics.co is interesting since no KYC needed. It suggests Shopify which also has a list of crypto payment methods https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/additional-payment-methods/cryptocurrency I will still end up having to maintain a Shopify store which is $2000/month jeez

Making a site is not necessary if you have where to advertise the product. Let's say you made an account with a payment processor, and you created the invoice for X amount. Is it just for the sole purpose of giving it to people who are interested in buying? why not simply give an address in that case?

As for KYC, then I'm not sure I understand your question. If you don't want users to create an account, or go through KYC, then most services don't ask for that either, unless the amount is too big I would imagine but you will have to pass KYC as a merchant. If you also want to avoid that, you can go with Coinbase Commerce or BTCPayServer.
255  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is the smallest amount of BTC I can transfer to my electrum wallet on: November 15, 2023, 04:45:57 PM
Are you referring to ViaBTC's wallet: ViaWallet, the noncustodial wallet? or ViaBTC the mining pool? If the later, then I'm guessing it's a centralized service? Electrum will show whatever amount you send. If ViaBTC doesn't allow you to withdraw that amount, it's probably because they have a min. withdrawal amount just like exchanges does.
256  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which BTC Payment Methods for your business? on: November 15, 2023, 03:44:45 PM
But since you're selling some old tools you have, is it really worth it to build a website and use a payment processor for this? also, I'm not sure I understand the KYC part, do you need to pass KYC, or the buyer must do it?

Here's a list of payment processors anyway, with their KYC policy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5444578.0

I would use something like eBay to sell those (assuming that you're allowed to sell them), and then use the fiat to buy Bitcoin.
257  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [List] Instant exchanges on: November 15, 2023, 10:33:29 AM
-snip-

Strange. I was pretty certain that I added exch. I'll make sure to add it, thanks.

As for SideShift, then this should also taken into consideration even one is not from the mentioned jurisdictions:

https://help.sideshift.ai/en/articles/6230858-sideshift-ai-s-risk-management-policy

I believe I talked about this before, but back then, I don't remember that "a refund" was only possible after completing the KYC process. They must've added that part recently.
258  Economy / Services / Re: Arbitrage bot wanted on: November 15, 2023, 10:12:36 AM
Which exchange do you want the bot to support? Have you looked into Hummingbot?[1]. It's an open-source bot that has been around for quite some time and it supports a decent amount of both DEXes and CEXes, you should probably look into it before paying someone to write a bot for you.

259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: November 15, 2023, 09:54:23 AM
But I think this is a communicated reasons which I don't understand. Since  the occurrence of this issue their have not been any transaction history on my trust wallet. My balance on trust wallet still intact,  but if I go through the trust wallet check explorer I can see the details of the transaction.  And I noticed not quite long that the transaction have been confirmed but my balance on trust wallet is still intact which I tried to send the bitcoin to the suppose address I wanted to send it to and it went through.

Am so happy and can't explain how I didn't managed to lose the bitcoin will all complication.

I guess I just paid attention to the fact that you were using Trustwallet. How did you even manage to bump the fees the first time if your transaction didn't have RBF enabled? Am I missing something?
on: November 14, 2023, 05:08:59 PM
