Awesome we found another block but I did not get my payout for this block Sad
242  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S1 - HUGE Amount of HW Errors? on: January 03, 2015, 12:57:56 PM
Hardware errors are errors independant from any pool you mine. Its the miner. Either there is an issue with the asic chips or something else(heat, not enough power, settings). Try underclocking. Try a new PSU.

One of my old miners had HW errors, it was heat related.
243  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea threatens "merciless" response over Seth Rogen film on: January 03, 2015, 12:40:43 PM
This guy is such a fool. He tries to speak like a big man yet hes as threatening as a burnt marshmallow.
244  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Do Cryptocurrency Exchanges Want So Much Information? on: January 03, 2015, 12:38:52 PM
Its to prevent dodgy shit. Any service which is used to handle money will ask for ID.

I don't like it though. I don't intend to do anything dodgy but I don't trust some website with all that vital information I send. Some want bills, drivers license and photos of your face. Its insane. If this information got into the wrong hands, it could potentially destroy you.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Bitcoin fails - what is Plan B? on: January 03, 2015, 12:20:56 PM
If bitcoin failed, I believe most other if not all other alts would come with it.

I don't see it failing though. As said it will always serve a purpose. I didn't invest much into this whole thing, if it crashed and crashed hard, I'll take it as a small loss. If it maintains, I'll take it as a small gain. If bitcoin does take off but drop in value, I think that would be a positive. It would be more affordable and also boot out the industrial level mining farms. It must be a taper down though not just a sudden crash.

Plan B? Chuck the asics in the bin.

I like what the other member said above, essentially invest small, make small or lose small.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: The main problem in the Bitcoin ecosystem the real reason Bitcoin is plummeting on: January 03, 2015, 08:23:49 AM
Someone said it earlier which really did hit the nail. One user error in this network will see all the bitcoins that you put up, gone and usually permanently. Whether it be the accidental deletion of a priv.key or accidentally sending funds to the incorrect address. There is no room for error. The process of using bitcoin is also not very easy. Although videos make it seem easy, trusting any online resource with your btc and private key will NEVER be secure. They usually provide 0 insurance.

With banks, if the systems are hacked and your money stole, said money is insured and replaced by the bank. If your accidentally throw away your credit card, you can apply for a new one. If you send money to the wrong account its often reversed. If someone scams your account details, the transactions are reversible.

The bitcoin network is very secure but definitely offers no protection against user error. I consider confident use with bitcoin something the more tech savvy users would cling onto.
247  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 03, 2015, 08:10:53 AM
80% of my power goes into Slush's pool. The more power I get the more I put into this pool. There is only one other pool I use along side Slushs and it is an even slower pool. But I respect the pool, the hosts and the payout methods. I do not and will never support a chinese pool.
248  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 03, 2015, 07:20:58 AM
Could you link those pages kkurtman?

By all odds you could have 50ph and not find a block.

I've noticed a small pattern, when the pool finds a block, it often finds another shortly after. Ive seen blocks found seconds apart.
249  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 Fan Speed on: January 03, 2015, 05:59:13 AM
If you're familiar with electronics and you want to resolve this fast, you can use a multimeter to read the voltages on the molex cable from the PSU then unplug the fan from its current plug and bridge it to run at 5v. It will bring speed down.

Mine are operating at around 45c in 30c ambient and running at 2200rpm. Even on a cool night, they still spin at the same speed.
250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S-5 review. It has arrived some info is in! on: January 03, 2015, 04:29:50 AM
I'll be ordering two of these when my last miner is gone. Noise doesn't concern me, the Bitmine unit I have here is noisy as all hell and is unbearably hot to run.
251  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 03, 2015, 04:27:32 AM
Labor is cheap as crap over there, producing electricity is nothing to them, they will thrash the hell out of these miners then sell them to everyone else to use. They're very cunning. They know how to make money. Its disturbing watching blockchain fill up with discuss fish.
252  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100 TH] mmpool.org - 1.5% fee split DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mining/tor on: January 03, 2015, 04:24:45 AM
Awesome, I was feeding a couple of my miners into this pool.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger introduces “hardware” BTC wallet on: January 02, 2015, 12:53:31 PM
Hmm, is this just a glorified USB with password protection? The link doesn't give much at all.
254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Anti-Virus Program to use? For Bitcoin security? on: January 02, 2015, 12:26:19 PM
I protect my computer with a range of software for specific tasks. At the end of the day though, you can't just get a virus on your system unless you ran something dodgy. The chances of someone attacking your home machine strictly for your BTC again is small, unless you were a HPT.

Just be cautious with what you run, what you download and where from. Touch wood, I have not had any invasive software on my systems for 11 years. I think the last time I did was the 60 second shutdown virus on Windows XP.
255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S-5 review. It has arrived some info is in! on: January 02, 2015, 12:23:31 PM
What is the potential for damage by running these in an hot environment? Where I work, our server room is pretty damn hot. Right now I run my miners outside my home. Its summer in Australia and its pretty brutal. My miners see 35 - 40c days and hot nights.

Should I be concerned running something like an S5 in this environment?
256  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 02, 2015, 06:22:20 AM
We need everyone who is not in China to get out of those pools to redistribute. Imagine all the Chinese pools merge to one pool. They will control >51% of the network. I would not trust them with that. These same people killed the economy in Diablo 3, WoW and other online games which trade gold.
257  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FULL][GROUP BUY][EU] Kialara Physical Bitcoin [ESCROWED] on: January 02, 2015, 06:20:28 AM
Yeah, the guy who makes them. I've bought hundreds of items from the states, the UK, Israel, France etc and never had any issues. I might have to get you or another member to send me one if I can't get them to send one down. Unless I can get 4 down for a group buy in Australia. If anyone in Australia is keen on a group buy, I can organise it next time this opens up.
258  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FULL][GROUP BUY][EU] Kialara Physical Bitcoin [ESCROWED] on: January 01, 2015, 09:09:40 PM
Why won't they send one down to Australia though? There are no import fees here for anything under $1000.
259  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Bitmain Antminer S5 - A wonderfully modable and well performing miner on: January 01, 2015, 12:56:36 PM
Thanks for the review. I've sold one of my miners and now looking to get something more efficient and juggling between the SP20 and this. Seems both are very loud, both require a PSU but each has its own other pro and con.

In regards to fans, are they just standard 120mm fans you can use? Do you think if you shield the top and bottom of the unit that a push and pull approach will greater improve heat displacement considering the air will be channeled in a streamline fashion?

I'm interested to see how these will treat a 240v PSU.

Very interested, PM me if you can ship to Aus.

Don't risk it dude, you will get slammed by customs here. Especially since security here has been stepped up a notch.
