241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer R4 - Wrong chip index on: January 21, 2017, 06:42:51 PM
Chalk up another R4 problem.  Same shit - day after I got it.  I have 2 one has been going for 3 days *got here 1 day earlier for some reason.  Now I didn't even get 48 hrs out of this one.  Not cool.
Same problem here. Though mine only hashed on both boards for about an hour. Angry Now it's just one board. Hopefully, that one keeps working until after their holiday.  I was thinking of sending to Bitmain Warranty and eating the repair cost, since it saves on shipping and downtime.  Anyone know what they are charging for an R4 repair?

Block by cobramining!  This is his 12th Kano block and our 1st of the day!  Cheesy

Wow, a C1 got a block! Good news that the older gear can still knock one out every now and then. Way to go cobramining!
243  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL on: December 11, 2016, 09:13:00 PM
Well two payments have appeared in my wallet from the pool even though it's an orphan. Let's hope they confirm soon.
I suspect those were triggered by 442732.

Yea but unfortunately 3 hours later they haven't confirmed. Can someone with a wallet other than blockchain confirm if they have received them please?

As I said before I did not receive any payouts to my Core wallet. The last block paid was 442732.

Sorry didn't see your last post. Ok so I'm kind of confused. The txid's show the usual pool payouts including all address and shows in my wallet with no confirms but you guys aren't seeing anything? How is that possible?
That's blockchain for ya. They are unconfirmed in my blockchain wallet too. I'm sure they will drop from there eventually, since they were part of an orphaned block. Blockchain shows it as orphaned on their orphan page, with the block reward going to BW (Thanks a lot Antpoo for building on the wrong one).

Outstanding...

I still think we're not doing all that badly even 10+PH down from a couple of weeks ago...

C'mon, A7... Kiss

Did we just lose our leader board?

Jays86?  Hopefully just down for some maintence.  Is he active here?

He was killing it recently...

The stats page list him at ~124TH/s. Hopefully he didn't leave and that's not just his 5nd trailing off.

Come on blocks. 50 minutes since the last one, over 10K transactions in the mempool and lots of fees out there! Let bust this next one and get back in the green!
246  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [40+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,FR,NL on: September 09, 2016, 11:50:41 PM
Movin' right along all right...

Just discovered that (following a 30 min Internet outage), my A6s have to be power cycled to reconnect correctly; otherwise they're only producing about half hash. Interesting. Second time it's happened. Not a problem, though.

Seemed also like there might have been another DDoS again. About 3 hrs here w/no logon. Hope they (the neurons) are having fun.   Angry

I don't get why they would DDoS a forum.  There seems to be no point or possible gain to be had.
It does seem rather counter productive DDoS a forum which is free for anyone to join and post their opinions. But at least they are wasting their resources here instead of more important places, making it minor annoyance rather than messing with peoples incomes.
247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: September 03, 2016, 06:42:20 PM
Got mine running. I am impressed with the noise, VERY acceptable. It's the sound of a small level of a small desk fan. Now I just need to see if the heat is acceptable.

After 12m, miner is reporting avg hash rate of 8565 Gh. Nicehash is reporting an accepted rate of 10.2Th (!) reporting a payout of $6.3/day.

After 35m, miner reporting 8691 Gh, Nicehash reporting 9.5 but bouncing around.

Well what is the guess for BTC difficulty for the next year it takes to ROI...is it gonna be 'flat' due the the halving or nuts as usual..if it is flat you could do ok with a 1 year
ROI on this beast

comments anyone on above? Is that the plan for those getting an R4 (that and a hopeful price pump of BTC)....

It's a damn shame that Bitemain gouged on the price of these. I was all set to order 2 or 3 at $1000, to heat my store for the next 6 months. I would have easily ROI on the investment because I would be using the heat. Long cool fall and winter months in Seattle @ .09 cent power. But I guess now, I'll just have wait on Avalon.

Still can't get the frakking SD card to load/work...oh, well. Gonna continue putzing with it today. Could be it's a bad card (old) or a crappy reader (also old). Could be, too, that I don't know what the frak I'm doing.  Cry

At this point all you're trying to do is copy from a disk image to an SD card, then boot that in an RPi, right? What OS are you using to do the copy?

I'm on a Mac and use the "dd" command line tool. Works great.

Someone else posted a link to using dd for Linux. Here's one for Mac OS X that works well (there are many like this online):

https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/mac.md

The section called "COMMAND LINE" is the one to use, if you're not afraid of the terminal app.

Thanks a bunch...I've got all the resources OK. The issue is permissions and the chip being repeatedly reset to read-only on its own (and no, it's not the slide tab). I've done a chown and other tweaks, to no avail, and so the dd fails.  I'm also not sure the file I've got is actually correct, as I kept getting 404 errors on the Canaan site trying to download (they seem to be doing a lot of updating...some things aren't working quite OK yet), and ended up getting it via Github. If y'all have a direct link to the appropriate .img file for the A6, I'd try it. I use Ubuntu 16.04LTS, but also have a Win10 machine available (that I avoid like the plague). I may just give up and try doing it via Windows just to get the chip done...and dd is not just a copy, I believe. The img file has to be processed/written to the chip, and that's where the problem comes in. Onward. I'll shut up until I find out something.
It could just be a corrupt SD. Have you tried moving a different largish file to the SD to test it?

252  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: About Starting in mining on: July 28, 2016, 06:32:50 PM
Hello Guys ^^,

i am new in BTC Mining world, i've really some important questions by them i will decide what will i do next Cheesy

Now my Budget is about 3000-4000$

- what type of miners do u recommend for me!
- why exactly ?
- is the Mining process is really profitable !
- are the miners need any other equipments to work !
- what the best space for holding them !
- My electricity price is " 0.1$ for each kilowatt "
- any other advises for a Beginner like me  ? Cheesy
At .10 kwh your only feasible choice is an antminer s9 by bitmain. You can calculate your earnings from coinwarz or other mining calculator. At the current difficulty your profit will be $175-$190 per s9, per month without a network difficulty increase. At that rate it will take you more than 1 year to make back your initial investment. And this doesn't include the cost for cooling - depending on where in the world you live ( I am assuming USA since you used $ in your post).
The network difficulty is almost always rising (it adjusts every 2016 blocks, so that blocks are not found too quickly and tries to keep that rate 1 block solved every 10 minutes), so that will eat into your profits a little each month.
Unless the price of BTC rises drastically the days of getting rich from mining are over. If you want to gamble on it going up, then give mining a try. You probably won't lose money, and you'll learn a lot. If your goal is purely to make money, then you are better off buying/trading the commodity of your choice.
253  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,FR,NL on: July 27, 2016, 07:22:16 PM
Anyone notice that the bad luck streaks across the net has started since the S9's started arriving?

Does that also correspond with an appreciable uptick in Antpoos daily block find? Just curious if anyone had taken a look at that. Huh
The Antpoo web page reports they are at 99% overall luck. Their hashrate is at ~285 Ph/s. Which is way down from the almost 350 they were at pre-halving.
The network average is at 11 minutes for a block, so we should be seeing a decent (~7%) decrease in diff.

And our pool is up in hash. Kano is doing it right as usual!
254  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S9 11.85TH/s for sale today in China on: July 21, 2016, 07:14:29 PM
Another 999 S9's will soon join the network. I am so disappointed that they will be sold for cheaper, with a bonus AWS-1600 psu, and a 300 yuan coupon for future purchase. Anyone know if international buyers may receive similar benefit in the near future?

Links please

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160720030451168OpKu9Hc60687
Sales start at July 21 14:00 Beijing Time, which is in 2.5 hours from now. Shipping on their Friday this week.
Did anyone outside China actually try to order one? If I had seen this sooner, I would have tried.

Ummm...

I just noticed that my last payout for account "traxor" was for block 420509 found on 7/13 and paid on 7/14...

However all of my payouts for account "Mythicoin" (Machines at my sister's house) have been paid as recently as the ones paid today...

Anyone else with this problem?

I checked my account -- and no one hacked it and changed my wallet address.

Not sure what is going on...

 Huh Huh Huh
I just checked, and I have received payouts up to block 420981.

That is an AMAZINGLY good best share for 5GH... Shocked

I was amazed too! I wish I would have gotten one that good back when these were new. It would have been more than good enough for a block. I almost shut them off, thinking that was probably the best they would ever produce. But hey, where's the fun in that gear sitting in a closet! Tongue Plus, it's not like it really costs much to run. I spend more when I buy gas for the week, than these are gonna cost to run for a year. Wink
258  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,DK,JP,FR,NL on: July 17, 2016, 06:13:22 PM
Heh. The CPU mining discussion reminded me - I still have some old Block Erupter sticks lying around somewhere. I wonder if it would be worth reviving my "USB mining farm" for a whopping 10GH.  Tongue  Yes, I know the electricity cost would far exceed any revenue, but there was something comforting about those flickering green lights. Smiley
OT, but you gotta love those little green lights! I resurrected mine a couple months ago just for fun at a whopping 5ghs. Pointed them to the solopool to lotto mine. So far my best share was 225735042

Here blocky, blocky
259  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,DK,JP,FR,NL on: July 13, 2016, 12:05:59 AM
I would love to  and that is the con of the solar array  is big for private array  2 acres plus the home's roof and the barn's roof.  with all that room we don't have as much power as we want.

I was talking with two investors about a 40 acre farm  and the single most killing factor is the New York State laws against bitcoin. We are in New Jersey and we fear NJ may pass the same laws  that would basically make hosting btc or alt coins a crime if done large scale (a 40 acre solar array would be large scale).
40 acre farm would be 2.6 mega watts peak which is 400kwatts to 500kwatts  24/7/365 days  or 4000 to 5000th   say 4 ph.

That = $$$   one $ for the gear and $$ for the array.  At wholesale the 40 acre  array is 1.3 to 1.5 million  and the s-9s are 200k psu's

and a building ,wires net etc we are pushing 2 million.   Then the NJ state say no and poof  to a lot of money.

This scale op does not get the rebates that the smaller array gets.  So the bigger money guys are dragging feet.

But If you are smaller and have the right setup it is viable.  Varies state to state

This screams hosting business to me rather than mining business.  Just on the back of a napkin I see $2,914 p/day mining @ $660 p/BTC vs $26,666 p/day hosting @ $80 p/s9.  If my fuzzy math hasn't failed me, then a 2 million $ investment in a 40 acre site hosting 333 S9's (4000 TH / 12 TH = 333 S9's) would ROI in 75 days...that ain't bad at all.  And if that math is right (which I am about to pivot to Excel), I may be out looking for 40 acre parcels and investors in FL tomorrow.

I AGREE!  Hosting + Mining is even MORE profitable!  The problem is someone there with experience to manage the place.  The place being Washington State.  I am seriously thinking about buying a warehouse and setting up shop.  I have the ability of relocating for a while to get a place setup.
Needs to be Eastern Washington though, in the Columbia River area. I live a little north of Seattle, in Everett, and we pay 9.8 cents per kwh to the PUD (8.9 cents per kwh for businesses). Which is about is just barely profitable for an s7, since the halving anyway.
I would host with Toomim, but being a WA resident, I would have to pay sales tax. Which defeats most of the savings I would gain. And nothing against Eastern Washington, but I wouldn't want to live there.  Way too hot in the summer for my taste. I thought about Oregon Mines, but after paying for shipping, it doesn't save me that much.
260  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [35+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,DK,JP,FR on: June 29, 2016, 08:34:34 PM
They were the ones withholding on Slush.

They obviously were testing their mining proxy/system live mining on Slush and it was fuxored, withholding blocks.
Testing code on a live pool means you are asking every other miner on the pool to risk losing BTC with your testing, rather than risk it all yourself.
Scum bags.

They should have solo mined to test their code until they found some blocks and thus knew it could at least do that.
I'd not go near them.

Though ... I guess I should try find out where they mine from and block them ... ... ...

Were they withholding just lately?  This could explain Slush's luck numbers lately... I understand variance and high/low cycles being normal.. but these numbers have just been terrible:

That being said, I just switched over some more hash to Kano today.
Welcome to a much better pool to mine with! I switched back in Feb and long term, this pools payouts are far better than any other.

You can read more about it on Slush pool's page, under the news section. But it announced back in Feb and he was very vague about the particulars. It wouldn't surprise me though if someone else was doing the same thing to that pool. They have been very slow to respond to problems. Unlike Kano.is

Kano is very transparent about issues and is actively involved in the thread and answering concerns.
