241  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Exchange to use? on: April 24, 2018, 12:32:57 PM
My peg is always with poloniex... for the past years it hasn't failed me my any means. The transactions are smooth, the GUIs are very user friendly, the withdraw/deposit is also user friendly (with matching precautions before they let you execute a transfer), and most of all I haven't experienced any hack at all.

I also enjoy it's lending feature.
242  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the bitcoin be outdated by another currency? on: April 24, 2018, 06:05:58 AM
Bitcoin is simple, and that's what people like. People want to store value, move value back and forth, and if possible, at low cost. Altcoins have been offering all sorts of gimmick features throughout the years, but 95% of the people aren't interested in using these features at all, which once again points out that it there is no such a thing as Bitcoin being outdated.

Another aspect I see people complain about, is that Bitcoin's transaction fees are so expensive while altcoin fees are so insanely low. Roger Ver did that too, and he even made fun of Bitcoin various times in his streams as well. People should understand that the only reason altcoins are able to offer cheap transaction fees is because barely anyone is using their networks. High fees = high demand for block space. Low fees, or even no fees = low to no demand for block space (ie, coin is practically redundant). While I don't like altcoins, I do like their presence and the global interest in them. It's impossible to point out exactly, but the altcoin market makes sure a very large number of Bitcoins are taken out of direct circulation, and that makes sure there will only be more coin scarcity in the coming years. In other words, booming altcoin market is great for Bitcoin as well.

My answer to the principle is: NO

Bitcoin is money, the value of money is built on confidence, tradition and security, attributes that Bitcoin offers easily. The analogy between Bitcoin and social networks is completely incorrect, people think that Bitcoin is an myspace that will be replaced by facebook. It turns out that Bitcoin is money and not a social network, so this comparison is completely wrong.

Most of mankind's wealth resides in vaults for hundreds of years, so the circulating medium is derisory close to it. Why are we going to need fast, no-fee coins if we can use paper money and banks? Bitcoin's purpose is to be a safe asset, scarce and superior to gold. What is behind Bitcoin is the fact that no politician can steal you through taxes or inflation, there is nothing safer than Blockchain and Bitcoin. So far no technologically superior currency has emerged to Bitcoin to the point of provoking an abyss between technologies and will hardly emerge.

BUY BITCOIN TODAY AND ALWAYS.

You two sounded alike, I wonder if which one is the ALT. ha ha. peace out! Anyway, bitcoin was originally designed as a mode of payment used anonymously in realms such as the silk-road. I somehow disagree with this ->

Bitcoin is indeed an awesome storage for money, but it's not always a good idea to put your money in it because of volatility. If only bitcoin's transaction is lightning fast and the fees are almost gone, more people and commercial would use this, and therefore the price will be less volatile since its widely spent globally. Will the bitcoin be outdated by another currency? Yeah probably, because only few are using bitcoins nowadays... imagine what will happen once a new token has been introduced to market with same feature as BTC but minus the fee, and with a lightning transaction speed.

Haters will hate, but what if soon BCH does the dirty job? ha ha ha! #DragonSlayer
243  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trade is more a lucky thing or skill on: April 24, 2018, 05:45:05 AM
I'm not sure if I have time to play with charts and trade a lot, like I have seen some youtubers doing.
They make you really believe that is more like a skill and if you are good at it, it works.
My friend told me that is just about how lucky you are, and not a skill.
So, should I stick with holding or playing day trade is a better option?
I don't agree that it could have been about luck... I have a gunbot and it uses mathematical and analytical algos to execute trades. It also watches the market 24/7 that's why he has the most perfect buy and sell timing... Piece of advice, if you can't be as dedicated as gunbot - then you better HODL long term, buy on dips and sell on hype... good luck.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETC the next big moon ? on: April 24, 2018, 05:40:41 AM
The dev, team, and roadmap is very promising indeed... It went 30ish in the recent months and there is no doubt it could pull the price back to top anytime or anyday soon. Just wait for the whales to have an apatite.
245  Economy / Economics / Re: Prices will some day fluctuate less? on: April 24, 2018, 04:59:28 AM
Do you think that someday the prices for Bitcoin will fluctuate less and ppl will be able to use more as a currency, and not only as a form of investment?
Yup, once bitcoin becomes accessible to everyone and is being used as global currency - then price will certainly become less volatile. New comers are the ones who are responsible for the price surge, so when the day comes that everybody has bitcoin (evenly) fluctuation becomes less.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Update April 24 on: April 24, 2018, 01:50:51 AM
Unfortunately, bitcoin's movement is very unpredictable. Analysis could be done, however the results could always go otherwise. The best thing to do (well at least, in my opinion) is not to buy when the price is starting to go bullish because you might end up being trapped soon. Always buy low. Thanks for this update anyway.
247  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to know when to BUY? on: April 24, 2018, 01:43:44 AM
Hello,

Can somebody explain how to decide buying an altcoin?

Let me write what I know;
  • Check the coinmarketcap.com and choose ones with high volume
  • Check the projects
  • Check the chart, if it is pumped, don't buy, wait
  • Check the chart, if it is dumping, wait low volatility

Please correct and/or add other ideas to help noob traders like me Smiley

I will try to give merits to good posts as much as I can.

Thanks.

Do you see these two lines? once they have crossed each other at the bottom the price will most probably go up anytime soon - and that is, for me, the best time to buy... Another tip: look for a coin that is sleeping for a while, buy as many as you can, and then wait for a pump.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Market has woken up on: April 24, 2018, 01:35:57 AM
The money makers were done accumulating bags of tokens already and this moment onward will be payback time for them. Please expect another dump probably next month and then same cycle might happen. Oh well, this is only a #speculation.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH - Bitcoincash FOMO start again on: April 24, 2018, 01:19:11 AM
Come on guys, don't be such a lame... if you want to gain some decent amount of money then forget about hatin' BCH... don't you realize how this little coin works? It's price pumps like hell once in a while, so if you want to gain money out of it then you should buy it while it is sleeping and HODL until it pumps. I find it funny when people cries "I only buy BTC, I hate Jihan, Ver, and McAfee" (well I used to be like that.. but eventually I learned to embrace the reality that BCH is here to stay, and no matter what other people say - BCH is a threat to BTC, deal with it! ha ha ha).  I am a bitcoin enthusiast but I realized that I should never ditch BCH. these two are awesome money makers.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you sell coins? on: April 23, 2018, 04:59:48 AM
I'm a complete noob in crypto and trying to learn some basics on trading/exchange currencies.

Pretty stupid/newbie question but how do you sell if you have lets say 500k alt coin? For example, if you were one of the few people who mined bitcoin and had around 500k coins or you mined ethereum and had that amount, how would you sell them? I know exchange have limitation but if you wanted to sell them all together, how would you sell them?

If I were you, do not sell it via brokers of exchanges - but instead, sell it peer-to-peer. You may post in the marketplace section about your goods to be sold and make some offer for freebies. Ask them to send you cash and then send them your tokens. OR you may use escrows like me  Grin
251  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Philippine breaking news (crypto news) on: April 23, 2018, 04:53:54 AM
Nakakabadtrip-slash-nakakalungkot yung ganitong headlines talaga. Actually, the SEC did not warn the public against being involved with cryptocurrency but instead against those listed companies na nagpropromise ng huge returns. Educate themselves dapat, tsaka always FEED THY HEAD.
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in China. on: April 23, 2018, 04:43:21 AM
In March, the head of the people's Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan said that China will never recognize bitcoin and other crypto-currencies as means of payment. But already on 19 March he was dismissed, and the head of the Chinese Bank becomes his deputy. And on March 21, makes the statement "Bitcoin gives the opportunity and freedom to any person to enter the market of finance."

What do you think about this? Shift of China's attitude to bitcoin in a positive way or not. Or this statement to anything will not lead?
Man, I can't believe I have missed the news. Would you be kind enough to paste a link in this thread where I can read the actual content? Anyway, this news (if it happens to be true) will surely create a positive impact to all of us. New buyers will certainly get into picture once bitcoin has made a sound.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After a Bad Sell on: April 23, 2018, 04:19:07 AM
Just a piece of advice my friend - take out FOMOs from your system ha ha! I mean if you had missed out an opportunity for a bigger profit then you just have to deal with it. The important thing is you didn't sell losses... Keep in mind - profit is profit, no matter how small that is.

The best advise is the first reply in the tread. Do not sell all... do it gradually.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: Panic selling can contribute to bitcoin price going down? on: April 23, 2018, 04:13:47 AM
That is exactly how the money makers play with the market... imagine what if they sell huge amount of tokens (or btc) at a decreasing price, and they have another entity (which is also them) who would set buy orders so they would have nothing to lose, and then as the price goes cheaper and cheaper, the panic sellers (weak hands) add up to the sell volume - then the money makers take away their coins at a very cheap price. That is why you should never sell during these events.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HOLD THE BtC on: April 23, 2018, 03:58:35 AM
After the ghost month (August), I will expect a gradual rise in BTC price. Experience dictates us that every December the price goes unexpectedly high. I strongly agree to HODL and enjoy the rewards soon.

PS: just be careful against the dragonslayer
256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade or HODL? on: April 18, 2018, 08:13:34 AM
I suggest you HODL it, son... you would never go wrong in HODLing. I can assure you that by December you would gain huge if you HODL instead of trading. Trading could bring handsome profits too, but trust me, you are going to lose badly and that you cannot handle, you'll gonna end up brain dead. Just kidding... Anyway, trust me, in your state - do not trade... you thank me later.
257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can We Finally Call This the DEATH of Bitcoin?!? on: April 18, 2018, 08:08:41 AM
...and to cd74reg, I salute you! ha ha ha! Just kidding. No, son - this is not the death of bitcoin, this is just the beginning and unfortunately I have a very strong feeling that something better will take over bitcoin as "king" of crypto. It could be bitcoin cash or eth. Haters will hate of course but the only way for the global populace to use crypto conveniently is to have something that has features of fast transaction, low volatility, and low transaction fees. Too sad, it's not bitcoin. However, bitcoin will never die - it would only be replaced. Face it.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum [ETH], can it bounce back up? – on: April 18, 2018, 08:01:20 AM
ETH is now available in Philippine Peso/ETH pairing via coins.ph that's why I have a gut feeling that the drop was caused by someone who surely likes to get bags of this coin. He was probably dumping regularly and the weak-handed folks follow his lead which reinforced the dip. I am HODLing and am waiting for a huge pump in August. CAVEAT!
259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin's daily price fluctuations getting smaller and smaller? on: April 18, 2018, 07:01:58 AM
Most people have forgotten the Operation Dragon Slayer... McAfee, Ver, and Jihan were silent in the past few months which makes me feel that there is going to be another switch very soon. Bitcoincash's activity also affects bitcoin's volatility, and either most of you admit it or not, bitcoin cash causes strong HODLers to get their hands weak. So I somehow agree with one of the posts up there, if there are not enough good and bad news, the price will be some kind of stagnant.
260  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is more like “a psychological experiment than a serious investment" on: April 18, 2018, 06:51:09 AM
Well. everything in this realm is psychological... even money (fiat). When a group of people believes or agrees about something, revolution happens. Bitcoin did not get people's attention instantly, it took time before the people bought it. Why? probably because they (or we) have already agreed (mutually) that bitcoin and fiat are not far from each other - bitcoins could also be used just like how we use fiat. And that is psycho, isn't that?
