its such a dissapointment though.

maybe that's why primecoin as a whole kinda died too.

the pessimists are always right Tongue

Bump. Looking to use this guy's service but I'm not sure he's online anymore. Sad

Fully agree with CoinHoarder.

The peoples with pay for VPS and mine PrimeCoin it's botnet's or serious miner's? My opinion - they serious miners.
IMO botnet's can't take control of PrimeCoint network until serious miner's with VPS mines PrimeCoin, because diff is to high and computers which controlled by botnet's in 80% cases it's a regular home users computers without much CPU power.
rdebourbon is working on a primecoin miner for the parallella (parallella.org).  It is a $99 computer (essentially just cpu and cache on an ARM architecture) that can be infinitely parrallized.  I think this may be the ideal primecoin miner by a $/XPM mined basis
Interesting news - I have a parallella board coming sometime, as a Kickstarter invester. But I'm puzzled, if primecoin mining couldn't be made to work on a GPU with massive parallization, why should it work on a parallella board? Do you have any more details, link etc?

There's many different kinds of specialized high performance software. GPU's are one of them. I think it's got to do with the size/complexity of each core, and how many there are.

Oh right. I forgot about that silly US law thing. I hear sprint unlocks these phones by default but only with overseas carriers. Oh well. Thanks anyways.

I am shocked by how little people care about BitSpend now. Poor BitSpend. Oh well.

Hope he can make good use of that. I'm sure money is in no shortage for him now. That's good. Well, maybe not if he's with lawyers and stuff...

The performance of the ARM core is insignificant, as it serves only to function as a controller of the Ephipany cores. It's like a pentium 4 with a radeon 7950. I still mined at regular speeds. Tongue

Nonono. Unlock the sim card. I'm wondering if it's possible to unlock it with any service out there that makes it usable for any GSM carrier. I realize you can't do it, but maybe you know of someone else?

I know scrypt is not fpga friendly but how about primecoin?

We're not even hashing anymore. Hell. I don't think anyone even UNDERSTANDS what we're doing here. XD

Agreed all the way. I just don't have the language skills to write a message like that on my own accord. Tongue

Any idea of how the SIM CARD slot of a Sprint iPhone 5 can be unlocked? Is this even possible?

It works actually, and it's coded in opencl, so this miner should serve as a base.

It does? I thought nobody was able to mine a block with it. I heard everyone saying it just crashed.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Opinions about the Primecoin GPU Miner on: September 28, 2013, 03:42:41 PM
Hello,

As many of you know, A while ago, mtmlr started working on a Primecoin GPU Miner, and he received a lot of money in donations from people, where when they donate they receive early beta access to the miner.

The beta-access period is now over, and the miner source is released, but the miner doesn't seem to work quite yet.

Some people are very mad about this, Others are not. I don't have any feelings of my own on it, because I didn't donate anyways.

So I've been wondering. What is are your feelings on this situation? Take the poll so that we can see what are the collective feelings of this forum are. Smiley

Note: Please not hating on Mtmlr or anyone else here. Hate posts will be deleted. Create your own thread if you are mad.

It's not mtmlr it's mtrlt. Interesting post nonetheless.

I have serious difficulty properly spelling his name.

XD
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Working on a GPU miner for Primecoin, new thread :) on: September 27, 2013, 09:34:15 PM
Is there any hope for GPU mining primecoin? Ever since mtmlr released it I haven't heard a thing. I guess he isn't developing it anymore? Is this GPU miner dead too, like the CUDA miner is?

Why would it be dead?
Mtrlt released source so other people can work on it...rdebourbon was up to something.

Source code is released, but it's so complicated that there's very few people who can work on it.

Im just asking if it's dead or not, since I haven't heard a word of it from anyone. and who is that? Are they trying to revive the miner?

258  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are Blockchain.info Passwords Compromized if you get an email? on: September 26, 2013, 03:10:51 PM
Does this mean that someone tried to login, but they got the WRONG password?

Or does that mean that someone tried to login and they got the RIGHT PASSWORD and then were denied by BlockChain.info because of suspicious activity?
I know that google does this. Quite often when I login to my Gmail from a tor exit node, as well as inputs.io. But does Blockchain.info do this?

It's a DEAD IMPORTANT detail that Blockchain.info doesn't make clear! Is my password compromised or not?!

It means someone opened your wallet login page from an unknown browser. It doesn't mean someone has the right or wrong password, they were denied from trying any password.

Your alias is the same as your bitcointalk username which means anyone can visit http://blockchain.info/wallet/ReCat and you will receive "authorisation required" email. Changing your alias to something more obscure should prevent you receiving any more of these emails.

Thanks. Good post, gets right to the point.

Anyways, Someone from the UK with a 10.8.5 macbook is trolling me. Stawp. Tongue

You can use electrum if you don't want to download the blockchain.

I wasn't able to import my vanity address to electrum. >.<

Too many people have gotten their coins stolen from blockchain's wallet.  You should just bite the bullet and set one up on your computer.

I have one, it's just that running the bitcoin-qt client takes forever to sync the blockchain, and its extremely inconvinient to use.

if your password is pretty secure i wouldn't worry to much about it.... also wheres the email sent from make sure its not some spam email that takes you to a cloned website...

Yeah. Gmail notifies me if it's coming from a fake server.
