I am getting confused. In case the fight about the election outcome ends up in the supreme court, will Biden be able to sworn in as the president on January 2021? There are going to be tons of lawsuits. Republican observers were kicked out of the counting center in Michigan, access was denied to Republican observers in Pennsylvania, dead people voting in Nevada and so on..
The only votes that actually matter are the 538 electors that meet on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December. If nobody receives a majority of the 538 votes, the House of Representatives will choose the next president. So, no. |

If Biden is elected we are going to see a boom in prices both in the stock markets but also in the crypto markets.
Trump wasn't so popular in the Wall Street due to his radical opinions and the way that he wanted to cut the bonds from other countries. Biden is going to give a hope to the money makers that this is going to change.
There's also the point that if Biden wins, he then faces a Republican-controlled senate. It's this I think that's a key driver of the buoyant markets. Biden is not going to be able to implement higher taxes, tougher regulations, etc., if he has to get through the Rep senate to do so. Republicans have also flipped some House seats. A Biden administration is not going to have free rein. He also can look forward to a shitload of investigations. I think there's a possibility of some sort of fracture in the Republicans though. It's could be a weird dynamic with Senators finally able to speak freely about Trump and most likely there will be unapologetic Pro Trump Republicans on one side and openly disgusted with Trump Republicans on the other. |

Looking like Biden might pull it off by a hair now. One thing is certain, the media was WAY off with their predictions of a landslide victory.
Most of the Liberal media seemed to follow 538s lead (ABC News) that the two most likely scenarios were Biden wins FL and the election is called early (landslide), or it would be a nail biter, and Trump would spread disinformation/declare victory before there was a clear winner. No need to guess much anymore... math is on Biden's side, Trump has mostly tantrums remaining. For the moment I am agreeing with you. So now let's bet on how bad the tantrums will be. Odds I'm taking for: - Epic meltdown twitstorm gets Trump banned from Twitter: 20% - He refuses the leave office until a ruling is made by the Supreme Court: 20% - He blames China for election interference: 20% - He waves his middle finger at the press and tells everybody to fuck off: 10% - He calls on the militias to "do their duty" to protect the president at all costs: 10% - He rips his hair off in disgust: 5% Well he just 'claimed' enough electoral votes to win, so I guess that's that, we'll just have to have two presidents.  |

Funny what happens during the dark of night, isn't it? Votes get counted? In some states they will be counted all the way until Friday. And then the guy complaining about them being counted will demand they be counted again. I think og was referring to Trump going into authoritarian mode at 3 am though. |

Is he doing this because the extra uncounted votes in those states will make him lose them?  He already lost Michigan. Still leading in PA so maybe he's hoping to prevent that from slipping away but this lawsuit can't really do that. There is no basis for their claims. Basically just trolling now and trying to provoke some conflict maybe. NYT making it look like Biden is in a good spot in PA.  They also have him as a slight favorite in GA still, even though Trump has more votes at the moment. |

I have been watching this thread from a long time but never left a comment since I really do not have much idea about US politics. Now that you are guys are at the end game, I would like to say good luck to both suchmoon and eddie.  It's not looking 50/50 now. I would say Biden is fairly well ahead. Still it will be too early to make a conclusion so fingers crossed to both of you. The graphics tells nothing. All depends on the results of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Wisconsin. Trump is leading on the first four states on that list and wining them would keep him President. His lead right now means little as well since they are only now beginning to start counting the votes made before yesterday (of which 60-70% should be for Biden). For example, right now Trump has a lead in counted votes in Georgia, but the NYTimes has Biden as a slight favorite to win the state.   |

NYTimes is saying that if Trump takes NC and GA, the likelihood of knowing the outcome of the election within 24 hours drops to almost 0% and most likely it won't be till Friday at the earliest. Ugh.

NYTimes has Trump a clear favorite to win FL right now.  What I have not seen discussed is the fact that in 2016 Trump won, but many stayed home or did not vote for him. Really a lot of Republicans and Independents.
This time most of those undecided voters are pro Trump. Not all but most. Plus, some Democrats who are appalled at their choices, or who have reasons. Like blacks.
That's a great many votes.

If anything the people of Turkey should be grateful that Trump is keeping the dictator of Turkey more in line. Otherwise, you will have Obama/Biden doing nothing with countries start gassing their own citizens.

Just want to say publicly that if he does win, I intend to put effort into not rubbing it in or being a vengeful asshole. I probably won't be able to resist entirely, but hopefully the act of posting this will make it less likely I get carried away and go overboard with the trolly gloating.
