2401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Friendly City on: November 17, 2019, 03:49:51 AM
I have been searching for topics that will somehow help empower the bitcoin community. I have been previously posting bitcoin friendly politicians and the list of their names in this forum. Today I will share to you bitcoin friendly cities. This maybe a boring topic but its better to read topics that can inspire the bitcoin community rather than negative and threatening topics.

1 San Francisco, U.S.
2 Vancouver, Canada
3 Amsterdam, the Netherlands
4 Ljubljana, Slovenia
5 Tel Aviv, Israel
6 Zurich, Switzerland
7 Tampa, U.S.
8 Buenos Aires, Argentina
9 New York, U.S.
10 London, U.K.

After reading the article published by investopedia.com the common thing that makes these cities bitcoin friendly is the presence of merchants accepting bitcoins and the existence of bitcoin atms.

Hmm i find it very strange to not see Tokyo listed in there, consider that Japan was the first country to allow bitcoin officially.

I wouldn't use number of ATMs as metric, shops accepting bitcoin, and employers paying with bitcoin are more interesting in my opinion.

The topic is not boring at all, its always interesting to see these metrics periodically to measure worldwide adoption.

2403  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: November 17, 2019, 01:44:01 AM
How can i upgrade with sd card. I was try 5 time and i cant upgrade braiins os. Give me sd card download link.

I don't know what are you trying to do. If its installed into NAND, you can simply upgrade by refreshing packages and installing firmware.

I haven't tried, but if you are running from SD, the same thing could work, not sure if there is enough space. Else simply download the newer image and reflash the sd card.

As shown in the official documentation page, images are always at https://feeds.braiins-os.org/

Latest S9 image is still from June: https://feeds.braiins-os.org/braiins-os_am1-s9_sd_2019-06-05-0-0de55997.img
2404  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Depression and exercise on: November 17, 2019, 01:23:33 AM
I don't know if your scientific explanation is correct but I believe so. My only question is if we assume that I am the depressed person, how do I have the willing to exercise? I mean, I'm already depressed, hopeless and already got no interest in doing anything. I'm just in the corner of my room all day long because of total sadness. Yeah! The solution (exercising as what you've said) is present but how I will be able to use it while I'm trapped in this disorder? I sudrenly wonder Huh.

Well i'd suggest trying some indoor routines, doesn't need to be (in fact it should not be) high impact. Something cardio is good enough, even just warming up exercises every day probably makes a huge difference. And later when you feel with more energy, add more. Then you can also try outdoor activities if you want.

Look in youtube, there is probably something interesting for you to do, and no one else needs to know.
2405  Other / Off-topic / Re: Electric Cars and The Future on: November 17, 2019, 01:08:35 AM

electric cars are of course the future, but it destroys jobs

By your definition all technology advance destroy jobs. Why don't we don't go back to pre-industrial revolution levels, so we can give more 18 hrs jobs in textile mills?

What about that guy that earned money developing photographic pictures, or the guys that repaired VCRs, or typists, telegraphists? Did you know there is people in Pyongyang doing the work a traffic light normally does? Imagine how many jobs we could give if we replaced all traffic lights with humans!

This could go on and on to no end. Technology ALWAYS destroy jobs, and many times creates jobs too, perhaps not in the same proportion, but usually everyone ends better than without it.

Luddism is not the answer. Besides, less fossil fuel burning is better for all.
2406  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Think we Are alone in the Universe? on: November 17, 2019, 12:54:23 AM
^^^ That's why we really need to develop this: To the stars by atom bomb: The incredible tale of the top secret Orion Project - https://newatlas.com/orion-project-atom-bomb-spaceship/49454/. We could reach 12% of the speed of light with this.

Its an improvement but still too slow for the vastness of space. In addition you'd need some form of conventional nuclear power generation if/when going interstellar (as the Voyager probes have), since solar panels are useless when you are too far from any star...

With the technology humanity has access to today, the only thing that could work is a generational "crude atom powered" ship, not knowing what to expect, completely on their own, without any hopes of ever returning to Sol in their lifetimes.

Such a long trip would need artificial gravity and good shielding, self sustained food growth. etc. I guess something resembling an O'neil tube colony, simply pushed forward... Maybe we are a century too early, we haven't even began to colonize our "little" Solar system yet...
2407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Will You Do To Recover Bitcoin? on: November 17, 2019, 12:33:58 AM
I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and I failed to recover the coins despite trying everything I could. I received some altcoins as a bonus for my work and forgot about them. Later during the 2017 bubble the price of those coins skyrocketed, and I tried to access them, but couldn't find the wallet file on my computer. I used hard drive recovery tools and found some wallet.dat file, but it was corrupt and couldn't be opened. Looking at hex dump, it looks like large parts of it were already overwritten by other data.

So, generally recovery will either be very easy if you have the right password and wallet, or effectively impossible.

No, what you need is the seed words for each wallet, nothing else.

You are supposed to write those seed words down when you create the wallet, and store them in a very secure place. Preferably then make another copy with your own hands and store that paper in another, physically separate secure place.

If you fail to do that, you are bound to lose your coins. Neither the password no the wallet backup are important, the seed words can regenerate the wallet, anywhere, passwordless. The password is simply something to keep the wallet encrypted while in use, or someone casually using it while you go a moment away from your desktop. Its not needed to recover access to it as long as you keep those words.

The older wallets wouldn't show you the seed words but could export the privkey, which when printed, could more or less achieve the same. But that is much easier to steal, so it has fallen in disuse. No one should be directly handling private keys, only seed words.
2408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trade Bitcoin - AVOID "Get Rich Quick" Shit Coin Pump and Dump on: November 17, 2019, 12:26:00 AM
That's the thing. The only people gaining are the people that initiated the pumps. They're smart. As soon the shit coin goes up buy 10-20% they sell to people buying after the 10-20% up. Anyone who buys after that is stuck with those coins because no one is going to buy a shit coin that is up that much. They end up selling at a huge lost (sometimes 70-90% lost). It's a scam that works well for people who organize pump and dumps.

The FOMOs are trying to get rich overnight, but ended up loosing everything. I wish people get it that only trading / investing in Bitcoin will bring you profit. Only BTC's price fluctuate to the point where you can make nice profit trading with even $500. It's going to take a while to build up the profit, but it's almost always a sure thing.

Or you can wait it out, earn less than trading, but not "lose" as you say. Because, you never lose unless you sell, and if price plummets, all you have to do is wait and you won't lose a thing.

Not everyone is a trader, and holding is a perfectly valid strategy to preserve value when possessing a deflationary coin. Can you earn more by trade? Yes, but you are risking it more as well.

Leaving the coins in a cold wallet and look at it next few years from now works fine as well.
2409  Economy / Speculation / Re: The 2020 Next Bitcoin Halving vs The 2016 One on: November 17, 2019, 12:06:08 AM
Bitcoin saw its price jumped from $400 to $800 USD per coin during the 2016 halving. Can we expect the same for next year's BTC halving?

I've written a little article on the halving and need you guys to point out inaccuracies. Let's get ourselves pump and ready to rip the benefit (if there will be any).

There is no guarantee this will ever occur. Or it might occur in a higher or lesser degree to what you expect, only to "correct" itself later. Also after halving there is a chance for a bearish trend, not necessarily immediately. It will depend if the price spikes too hard, this is more likely to occur. The less the price climb, is actually better as it will probably has less pressure to go down.

Yes, on the long run it should gain more value, since now half the amount of coins are being minted, but that doesn't necessarily mean exactly twice the price. To me the right price would be less than twice, but more than pre-halving.

Bitcoin is maturing, and its price fluctuations are becoming less and less pronounced. Look at the price change in percentage, not absolute numbers, and you will notice this pattern.

A change in price from 9000 to 10000 is identical to a change from 9 to 10. Bitcoin had far more dramatic price changes in its early years, but not anymore.

And Litecoin isn't in a much better position, its halving already passed, didn't it? Its a nice altcoin, nearly identical to Bitcoin, but it didn't help that its creator dumped it... I guess it now has its natural price, don't see any reason for it to see any spikes whatsoever, be thankful if it doesn't plummet like most altcoins. I hope you are aware of the existence of the "L5" asic miner Bitmain seems to keep secretly to themselves...

History demonstrates that, whatever happens to bitcoin price, the others follow more or less. But the opposite isn't true...
2410  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Have You Paid Tax On Bitcoin? on: November 16, 2019, 08:15:53 PM
What is your country's policy on taxation on cryptocurrency? Secondly, have you used Bitcoin ATM before? I heard about Bitcoin ATM when they installed them at the Melbourne airport. Please share your experience on BTC ATM and taxation.

As far as i know, you are supposed to pay some sort of tax for "money brought to the country". This can only occur if you use a State approved exchange. I doubt many people use those, there is no need unless you want to get rid of Petros...

Because ATMs are physical, i suppose they are prone to State control. I don't see myself ever using one...

How exactly can you enforce Bitcoin taxation? Force people declare what their wallets are? What stops them from having hidden (undeclared) wallets?

Bitcoin is nowhere physically, and everywhere. It lives on each node, which there are several across the globe. It is not really crossing borders, and yet reaches everywhere. The old thinking just doesn't apply here.

Since its not really "in your jurisdiction", how exactly do you intend to enforce your laws to it?

Only way i can see some taxation going is, for example VAT. At purchase at a shop, and even there could be undeclared (hidden) wallets. Similar to people wanting to avoid taxation, they could forge the accounting book, etc. It would need to be investigated, which you can do a (physical) shop. And then you would also need to make sure your tax collectors are honest, and at the end you have a police state that can never ensure everyone is paying their taxes, but spend a lot trying to make sure they do (If only that money was used elsewhere...).
2411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks do not control my bitcoins - Zimbabwe News! on: November 16, 2019, 08:01:39 PM
This is really sad news for the Zimbabwean citizens because they cannot withdraw their own money, and it’s ironic that they need to pay a premium to use some extra money. @Kakmakr sooner or later people will understand that their banks have been looting them for years, and switching to bitcoins is the only solution for them.

Fiat "Government/State" issued money, is always "controlled" money. And nothing destroys confidence more efficiently in a coin than limits aka. "controls". The politicians simply don't get it and commit the same mistakes all over again.

Thing with bitcoin is that no politician can destroy it, that is why is so valuable. But fiat currencies, can be destroyed overnight, or even before its born.

Yes, actual printing costs money, and its quite sad when the banknotes end costing more than what they are supposed to represent. They could become a "debit card" society like we did here, due to banknote scarcity, but within the banks zeroes keep increasing, zeroes for the State bank accounts that is...

Which in turn induces inflation. One would think Zimbabwe learned its lesson...

No country is safe, as long as some human has the power to make your money lose value over some stupid decision, such as "print more", or "restrict bank withdrawals". Who can restrict you how many bitcoins you may transfer? Nobody, that's its beauty.
2412  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Think we Are alone in the Universe? on: November 16, 2019, 08:19:50 AM
we are not alone, there are many creatures out there waiting for us to visit, and we are billions of light-years away from them

the logic that I take is very simple...
vast space is unlimited, a galaxy is only a small part of space and there are thousands of galaxies in space, in each galaxy there is one planet similar to Earth

is stupid and selfish if we say that only earth has a sentient life on this infinite space

Actually that is the very problem. You say "billions of light-years" but actually, few light-years is such serious a problem, it might make it impossible to ever meet another sentient race.

One of the theories postulates that, by the time you reach any place where such a race existed, they would have been long extinct. Same as them finding us.

The distances of the universe are NOT trivial, in fact they are insane. People can't even start imagining it for real. Closest nearest star (after Sol) is like 4 LY away, and we are not going to travel at the speed of light. A 10% of that is 40 years, meaning a generational ship at best. But wait, there is more! The simple fact that you are traveling so fast is already taking you to a different time (future) relative to your point of origin. 40 years at 10% the speed of life, on Earth happen to be several more (its possible to do the exact math, but i don't have that ability). Just know that the faster you travel the more years pass for the people not moving with you. Same thing happens to a traveler from another planet coming here...

"Time is relative". This is very, very, very profound. Its not a silly catch phrase, its quite real and dramatic. So for the people on the ship it might be 40 years, for the people on Earth.. 400? And, once you find a place, and settle, this place is already in a different time relative to you as well. Simply because that system is moving at different speed than ours (Sol). And the farther you go, the more dramatic the difference is. Consider that, we are relative far to the edge of our galaxy, and you want to travel towards the center. Well, like a disc spinning, the outer edges move faster than the center, so... Time is relative, remember? fun stuff!

Ten years for a colony in another galaxy might be 1000 years on Earth. A far away race that decides to come here, by the time they reach us we might be extinct, same for us trying to meet them. Even if Seti got a message telling come we are waiting for you, and we embark and take a century reaching some place, it might have passed several more years over there...

The vastness of space, is no child's play. And most sci-fi shows don't depict it properly, maybe to not confuse or make things boring. I think there is a video 3d simulation of how would the "space" look thru the window of a spaceship traveling near or at the speed of light, to debunk common misconceptions, and the answer is very funny: You wouldn't notice anything, as if the ship was full stop. Maybe if you look 90° to the sides you would see very faint moving, but the distances are so vast, looking in all directions while traveling near the speed of like, actually looks pretty much like a wallpaper/bitmap, static and boring, no "white dots" moving AT ALL.

Breaking the speed of life so far is only existing in the realm of imagination. Short of finding or making wormholes, or theoretical engines that need matter/antimatter (Alcubierre drive?), literally Star Trek stuff. But even with that the other phenomenon persists. You cannot simple go and return to Alpha Centauri and expect the same people you knew to live. Maybe you can meet their descendants...

I know an anime that depicts this, and some sci-fi novels do (with great extent), but i don't know many sci-fi shows or movies that do, I'm probably missing one that does it well. Interstellar kinda did but could have been more explicit. Yes, when you travel fast (or far), you are also taking a one way ticket to the future. This phenomenon is called "Time Dilation".
2413  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you know any good ways to promote a mobile application game? on: November 16, 2019, 07:20:48 AM
A really good game doesn't really need anything, word of mouth can make it spread like wildfire. But if your game is yet another iteration of the same boring things everybody else does, don't expect miracles; even with spending a fortune in ads...

Concentrate in making a very good game in the first place, then let the players themselves do the promotion on their own.

Any money you spend in ad/promotion, could have been spent in the game itself to make it better. Today there is internet and social media, people already recommend things they like to their peers without any referral gimmicks, spend that money in the actual thing!.
2414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks do not control my bitcoins - Zimbabwe News! on: November 16, 2019, 07:04:04 AM
Not only does Zimbabwe have a bad economy, Venezuela is an example of this, they have similar problems, when a new currency is issued, the monetary cone changes, cash bills are exchanged in Colombia causing shortages and inflation increases.

The Venezuelan government launched a token-cryptocurrency that is being implemented as payment for certain paperwork, such as issuance of passports, apostille of documents, among others, since all the resources taken by the traditional economy have not helped them, in countries with high crises and very high inflation, the most radical solutions do not work, however it has an ideology for its cryptocurrency but not Bitcoin, which, is totally contradictory, is something like what China wants to do.

I think that the solution for the particular economies of both Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Argentina and all countries in financial crisis in serious condition, should take Bitcoin as an immediate refuge, thus having a benefit as a whole, for them they would get some liquidity and to The Bitcoin economy would increase demand resulting in an increase in the value of Bitcoin, that is, everyone wins, this is a way to start looking for financial freedom.

Bitcoin alone is not enough, they would all need to switch to Austrian Economics. The dominant Chicago school would simply perpetuate endless cycles of bubbles and crashes, and they fear deflation like mad, they just don't get the idea of a slower but steadier growing economy based on true savings and would rather everyone get in debt so it grows real fast but nothing really supporting it (except the debt itself) which causes it to inevitably collapse like an MLM scheme.

The very reason none of them would adopt bitcoin, is because their economists fear deflation. Bitcoin adoption by any State requires to bring Austrian economists for advise, such as Huerta de Soto et al. An Austrian would tell them to close the central bank to end fractional reserve banking (and fiat), for starts. The "Chicago boys" would never do such a thing...
2415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alright, I made it obvious this time on: November 16, 2019, 06:30:38 AM
Point taken but also note, who is the one that I pointed as a true discoverer of the quantity theory of money.
People often go with 19th century scholars like Irving Fisher or Ludwig von Mises but they already forgot the pre-revolutionary father of "modern" economy, Nicolaus Copernicus. Most know about his literally groundbreaking book "On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres" but what about his mathematical works as monastery steward? Basically remains unknown. I bet that if Kopernik was still alive, he would HODL some bitcoins. xD
BTW previously posted rants about you linking us to medium instead of re-posting here, where true. That's a decent article, you may have got some nice merits for it, just saying.

Mises is not from the 19th century, but from the 20th. They correctly predicted the crash of 1929, in the middle of the roaring 20ies... In any case the Austrian school of economy starts with Carl Menger and others.

The Austrian School originated in late-19th and early-20th century Vienna with the work of Carl Menger, Eugen Böhm von Bawerk, Friedrich von Wieser and others. It was methodologically opposed to the Prussian Historical School (in a dispute known as Methodenstreit). Current-day economists working in this tradition are located in many different countries, but their work is still referred to as Austrian economics.
This is the only group of economists that support using deflationary money (gold), devoid of any State control. for the others (currently dominating), its taboo...

Funny you bring Copernicus, he brought us Quantity Theory of Money, which Mises himself developed upon...
2416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One solid reason that I came across for the need of BitCoins. <Be Your own Bank> on: November 16, 2019, 05:40:59 AM
I recently went for USA Visa interview , i.e I applied for a business visa.

For the purpose of VISA, I needed the documents to show my bank balance, therefore I went for getting the bank statement sealed and signed from bank authorities. I am from India the bank in which I have account are one of the best banks in my country.

Now first I took out print out of 6 months statement, then went to bank physically, then the real pain started, they told me to put a seal and sign on my Bank Account Statement, they will charge 100 INR for one month's statement, and I felt cheated, I felt these guys are in a business of monopoly, for my money, my account, they are charging money from me just to authenticate that my balance amount is right.

We surely need crypto currencies, and do not need anyone else's validation to proof that we have our own money. More and More Power to BitCoin.

The funnier part is, that if you didn't had a bank account, or moved everything into bitcoin you wouldn't be able to produce this bank statement the Americans require.

You seem to complain about your bank fee, but forget to mention the outrageous 150+ USD visa application fee (which is not necessarily granted, and every single time you try you have to pay it again).

In a bitcoin world, the embassy should also accept your wallet address and signed message from it as proof of ownership. All they want to know is that you are not a poor immigrant, Americans only want wealthy people...
2417  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: November 16, 2019, 05:22:54 AM
I had thought that I read somewhere that BOS could adjust the frequency on every chip. Unfortunately, after reading all 32 (?) pages here and searching, I cannot find that again. Can someone enlighten me on where this is in the web interface. I've installed it, can only find where I can set just the voltage / frequency per board.

And (this may sound snooty - but it's not meant to be) any other actual documentation for the using (not installing) of BOS? Especially from a not-so-much-unix persons view for parameter files and command line directives.

No it doesn't. You can manually set the frequencies and voltages per hash board, and that's it. The usage is similar to the factory firmware, you just set the pool you want it to mine to, and that's it. You cannot get any simpler than that.

Ideally you should lower the voltages to find the optimum efficiency, this take many tries until you find the lowest setting the hashboard still works without deviating too much from its intended hashrate.

The official documentation is here: https://docs.braiins-os.org/
2418  Other / Off-topic / Re: What will happen when we will die ? on: November 15, 2019, 03:35:03 AM
No kidding, most esoteric teachings and religions come to the conclusion that when we die, we just get rid of our physical body. Then it is separated from other bodies (the astral body and others, there are 7 of them, as far as I remember). In short, we are returning to our incomprehensible beginning. Then again, a particle from this common principle is introduced into a new body. But this is not always so, also the soul can go to higher levels of knowledge. Therefore, I think reincarnation is the most rational conclusion. The energy is infinite, the soul cannot just disappear (lose its potential).

Even stars appear to have limited lifespan, and (this) universe which appears to be in an expansion phase. But the time periods involved are so huge, its like asking an ant about human lifetime. It might just not be possible for a sentient race to ever answer this question during is blink of existence on a cosmic timescale. What IS this cosmos anyway? Where it came from, where it will go. Big bang what was it? How it came to exist? Its kinda known as the "singularity" that gave birth to (this) universe, but is that all there is? Where did these matter came from and how it got started? Some speculate it is an endless cycle of expansion contraction, but the only thing observable now is expansion that is accelerating.

Do not underestimate thinking either, its not a "complete waste of time". Ask you this question, how could Einstein possibly have found that time was relative? Its not like he had the super precise clocks of today, or spaceships to do measurements with (his theory were only confirmed after humans went into orbit: set two identical clocks observe them remain in sync for a year on Earth, then give one to an Astronaut for a mission weeks or months long; when he returns back his would appear to be late, or "slowed down").

You cannot perceive it, but even the time for someone in the street is a very tiny bit different to someone on the top of the Empire State, this is because things are moving relatively slower close to the ground.

How could possibly someone in the early 20ieth century could possibly correctly guess this? People say "genius" now, but what was it back then? He didn't even live to see that confirmed...

General relativity (GR), also known as the general theory of relativity or (GTR), is the geometric theory of gravitation published by Albert Einstein in 1915 and the current description of gravitation in modern physics. General relativity generalizes special relativity and refines Newton's law of universal gravitation, providing a unified description of gravity as a geometric property of space and time, or spacetime. In particular, the curvature of spacetime is directly related to the energy and momentum of whatever matter and radiation are present. The relation is specified by the Einstein field equations, a system of partial differential equations.

How did he came up with it in 1915? Cosmic revelation? Why would the cosmos bother to reveal rocket flight to an ant? Human imagination? But humans imagine all sort of nonsense all the time, why would this be correct, pure randomness? A broken clock always point the correct hour twice a day? Could there be truths in various spiritual disciplines waiting, but unable to be proved within our lifetimes, or that of our species, even tho they may actually be the truth (or not)?

Seriously stop to think when someone in 1915 tells you your time is different to mine if you are traveling faster. And it was true, the discovered one of the "hidden" laws of this universe, a Jew! Smiley

Couldn't the prophets and wise people of the past somehow "guessed" some things correctly? You know this "Atom" word actually comes from ancient Greece? It turned out "atoms" were not the smallest particle as originally predicted, actually we probably assigned the name too early, before discovering the "sub-atoms" that form them but there happens to be a smallest indivisible particle that only contains energy, a "mysterious" thing that keeps it in motion (and our bodies are built on those, go figure).

Where do the babies get their "programming" from? We know a couple exchanges genetic material, and some "traits" get inherited, but for the most part, this person's "soul" or whatever it is that makes someone do certain things and not certain others, come from.

Asexual reproduction actually doesn't even exchange genetic material, but it still forms a "being" that is not his source. A clone made of you, is NOT you, even it if looks identical to you, it is another being. Because of taboo this hasn't been observed much yet, but eventually it will. Corals do this in nature, by the way. They have the choice of asexual reproduction to growth its population, but its homogeneous offspring could all potentially be weak by single type of, so encountering another coral and exchanging genes is preferred "just in case" (to deliver its species from extinction).

Contrary to what some people believe, the spiritual and scientific paths are not necessarily antagonist, in some things they are, but in many others they share position. Again, someone like Einstein could easily been declared a prophet in the past (or a heretic and burned at the stake). You wouldn't believe how the ancient Romans viewed the universe. There is a book that survived the ages (and the church, etc) its about architecture. Try to read it, its incredible, like a time machine, a look 2000 years into the past, dedicated to Caesar Augustus no less. Some of the things are nonsense, some do make sense within their (limited) cosmic vision of things, and some are incredible approximation to what would only be discovered (or confirmed by science) thousands of years later. Aren't we limited to ours? Surely will be said, 2000 years from now, if humans still exist then.

Mind to sharw buddy what happened to those 20% population lost un 5 years?

They are spread across many countries, neighbor countries concentrate the majority, mostly poor people seeking a job to send money back home, but there are also professionals, and even wealthier families that are able to live in other countries, some because of their ancestry gave them a chance to request citizenship in Europe or other countries.

Now that so many want to leave, our people are forced to request tourist visa in several countries when a mere 10 years ago a passport would do (even connect flight). When your country is nice everyone welcomes you, but when your country sucks everyone closes the door in your face. And the immigration officials in some countries can get very rough, always suspecting you and returning many.

So it varies. Some people just come and go, in sync to their visa limit to avoid overstaying. Many do overstay, because among other reasons, our government would not renew (or issue) passports at all. In turn a few countries are even allowing expired passports.

Some succeed, some don't. Women are often exploited or kidnapped and forced into prostitution, its a mess. Also some criminals have emigrated and given us a very bad reputation by doing their things (typically steal at gun point). But the vast majority are honest people seeking a job, enough to keep on living and send some money home, but many have to live hidden escaping both the local crime, AND the country's immigration raids; and on top they get exploited, when not abused or worse.

Many are separated families, such as a single mother that left her daughter under care of her granny to work as a cook in a Caribbean island and send some money home so they can eat and buy medicine. Or people that need constant medication had the choice of: 1 Die, or 2 Leave. I know one personally that, in-spite being a diehard fan of the current gov, had to leave to keep his diabetes medication, as the current administration has ran the healthcare system (and everything else) to the ground.

We peaked at 30 million population, it is now estimated around 6 million have left (20%). Some people sell everything, home, car, all things, and it barely lets them purchase a bus ticket to their intended destination. Some people can only afford the trip to the border, enter the neighbor and start working there to make enough to keep going, and repeat, at least before their entry visa expire. Many work illegally, since a tourist visa usually doesn't allow it. Oh and requesting a visa can cost a small fortune, which doesn't help.

2420  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: November 14, 2019, 07:58:03 PM
I have 100+ S9 miners from different batches starting from 2016 and ending with 2019 s9j/s9k models.  So i can compare them. by the way, BOS still not showing chip temp on some S9 models from 2016/2017 batches.

Bitmain FW has temp cut value close to 110C, why BOS set 95C is not clear for me, my miners work for years in summer over 100C without issues.

At the end, bitmain fw stops mining process when you hit 110C, but BOS just restarts miner when you are close to 95C = which leads to infinite miner restarts - which kills hashboards also. So this is real problem which should be addressed.

Did you not notice that there are two groups of sensors, and the older Bitmain firmware only used one of them? (the ones that show the higher temps). One comes from sensor on board, the other from sensor on chip.

Something they send to their driver probably manages to stop the hashing. This is worth reverse engineering, since the units can't truly be turned off (and people frequently request this). bOS just resets cgminer, but maybe it could also be made to reset frequencies (or lower them to 200mhz or such). This is also an interesting proposal to make, it would be a mitigation for when bad things ™ happen as they probably lack knowing what it is Bitmain does to stop hashing on boards (some sort of halt command that requires a hard reset).
