1501  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Ayuda! No puedo entrar a blockchain on: May 15, 2020, 03:54:18 PM

1502  Local / Hardware y Minería / Re: Alternativas a Ckpool.org on: May 15, 2020, 03:40:50 PM

1503  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Próximo Halving de Bitcoin on: May 14, 2020, 10:30:03 PM

1504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network, is it a good solution? on: May 12, 2020, 02:18:27 AM
Either way LN is optional, you can use it or not if you want. In my opinion, i should not be used except in the exceptional circumstance that you need an instant payment. Most payments don't need to be instant, people commonly wait hours or days for wire transfers.

And, it is currently not recommended for large sums (and may not be desirable for that anyway).
1505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Halving! on: May 12, 2020, 02:14:30 AM
Happy halving i guess. Well i though for a moment that it was Slushpool but no, it had to be the Chinese overlords... Ah well.

The price has been very good, remarkably stable. I hope people calm down and see Bitcoin for what it truly is.
1506  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ckpool.org CLOSED on: May 12, 2020, 01:49:48 AM
I loved this pool the most, people would have earned the most if they moved their miners here, but alas.

Thanks for all these years and effort, the last zero fee pool with transparency will be missed...
1507  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); Overt AsicBoost; World First Mining Pool on: May 11, 2020, 09:34:00 PM
Aaand block 630.001 was found Slushpool!

Congratulations! So much for "bad luck" huh?

Yes, this is the very first second block after the halving...
1508  Other / Off-topic / Re: What have you done with your $1200? on: May 10, 2020, 06:22:59 AM
But you think the USD can never fail, that printing a few trillion dollars to give people "free money" won't do a thing...

I thought your government was borrowing the money?

No one is loaning any more money to my country for the past few years, which is good because those in power would keep wasting it and taking some for themselves. Of course Maduro blames capitalism and US imperialism and just adds more zeroes to the State bank accounts to keep paying wages etc like the budget was infinite, because inflation is a capitalist lie from Americans to destroy socialism...

Not unlike Mugabe and the long list of ruling idiots in 40 centuries of human history...

1510  Other / Politics & Society / Re: LOL!!! Greek Brothels To Reopen But Hookers And Clients Required To Wear Masks on: May 10, 2020, 04:56:52 AM
Yes there are countries where organized prostitution is legal, and the State even licenses and health checks the establishment.

However, regarding COVID-19, this is absurd. If a single infected enters the place, it will very likely spread to everybody else in there. This is the same to any kind of place where people visit; it is pointless to make people sit away from each other inside, when everyone is getting in and out thru the same corridor, where a single sneeze or cough could very well spread the virus to everyone else walking the same path later...

No, this is one of those things that should remain closed until the pandemic is over, unless you do the same as with restaurants: Delivery only... (and hope the person isn't infected).

And yes, i know this might be shocking to some, but look at wikipedia.

Its like drugs. Just because they are legal in some place, doesn't mean everyone is doing it. Do not prejudice people...

Granted, in that kind of place, there are other types of virus you should be more worried about, many without a cure or vaccine...

Yo siempre uso 1 Sat/B.

1513  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: China dice adios al USD, comienza guerra comercial mundial on: May 09, 2020, 07:29:34 PM

1514  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Próximo Halving de Bitcoin on: May 09, 2020, 02:32:05 PM

1515  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: my antminer s11 has stopped working please help! on: May 09, 2020, 01:58:03 PM
Any Bitmain firmware from 2019 or later, locks the miner to their "signed" (newer) firmware and no SSH. I'm not aware of methods for downgrading back this specific model, which is so rare.

You should try the suggestion of removing the hashboards and testing them one by one. Yes, since the S11 this process is more involved due to the way Antminers now power their hashboards. You have to be very patient and more careful.

Unless you pĺan to send it to Bitmain for "maintenance", but you have until June 10 to do so...
1516  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Hardware on 120V on: May 09, 2020, 01:49:29 PM
Yes for sure there is the added risk, but is still a viable option especially if they would like to breakeven in the end. It's been a while but I can't even remember off the top of my head what these are drawing now with the brains OS.
I know you've played around with a ton of these. I'm at work on my phone but I'm wondering if you can get 2 boards down around 800-900w. That would fit nicely on a 110 circuit. It's gotta be close depending on the model, but one of the 13.5TH units I think would get that low with 2 boards.

You definitely can do 800W with 3 boards if you force the miner down to about 10TH/s or less. Less boards should be easier (the R4 was essentially an S9 with 2 boards and a scroll fan).

Given the amount of super cheap S9s right now flooding the market, the best bet for OP is to purchase an used S9 with damaged or missing hashboards. One with 1 or 2 hashboards should do the trick even with factory firmware.
1517  Bitcoin / Mining support / After Jun 10, Bitmain will no longer repair these Antminers: S11, S9, T9+, etc.. on: May 09, 2020, 01:42:33 PM
Bitmain is sending this message to customers, quite surprising and at the same time worrying. I didn't know you could still send an S1 for repairs...

Quote
In order to better assist you to meet the challenges of market changes and technological innovation, we will stop providing maintenance services for the following models from May 10, 2020:

A3, B3, D3, DR3, DR5, G1, G2, L3, L3 ++, L5, R1, R3, R4, S1, S3, S5, S7,  S9, S9I, S9J, S11, T9 +, T11, V9, X3, Z9MINI, Z9

In addition, we will stop providing maintenance services for E3 from June 10, 2020.
If you have maintenance requirements for the above models, please create a repair ticket before the deadline and send the machine to our repair sites according to our After-Sales Maintenance Policy. Although we will stop the maintenance service of the above models, we will still be happy to provide you with product consulting services, including online and hotline customer service. At the same time, you can also get the product-related FAQ from our knowledge base and community.

You gotta love how they phrase is as "to better assist you" when they are actually assisting you less. It is surprising to see the S9 in there, given a recent article that states 23% of the current world hashrate is still being produced by S9s...

While some of the models are really old, some like the S11 are surprising to see being dropped.

Sure they just want to focus on the S17, whatever. Hopefully more people will now offer independent repair services.

So if you still have some of those models and you want THEIR repair service, better send them now...
1518  Other / Off-topic / Re: What have you done with your $1200? on: May 08, 2020, 08:12:55 PM
Savings right now, I guess for me.  Roll Eyes

I would buy with a small portion of it around 40% of the total amount Bitcoin.
The rest would be kept into a savings account in order to endure the coronavirus situation and the lockdown period. I know that it is not the best kind of investment to keep it into a savings account but this pandemic situation has made me be afraid of it.

Spoiled by the system, you think you are doing the right thing. You don't, if your fiat collapses, you lose all your savings. But you think the USD can never fail, that printing a few trillion dollars to give people "free money" won't do a thing...

I'll tell you the right thing: Move ALL into Bitcoin. And when you need to buy something, exchange only the minimum amount required to buy whatever it is you need to buy that day.

If you keep 60% of it, expect to lose that 60% at any time without warning.

It would be a historical event, but once it happens there is no turning back. Printing money is not a joke, my country has done it since 2014 and you can see the results... Foreigners laugh at our 3 USD monthly wage, and that's exactly the road we took. All you see is the price of things going up faster than your wage, until your wage is so ridiculous working doesn't make sense anymore and everyone depends on gov give-outs.
1519  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you know any anonymous social network? on: May 08, 2020, 02:54:06 PM
I really wonder if there is some place where you can communicate without fear for your safety?

Have you tried Mastodon yet? Well i suppose that's more micro blogging (ie. Twitter) replacement than Facebook. For something like Facebook there are Diaspora and Friendica among a few others.

Of course the problem has always been to tell your friends and acquaintances to switch... Resistance to change is always strong.

Did you know that there are also secure instant messengers and chats?

But why stop there?, Is your operating system secure?
1520  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Wind Turbine and power supply? on: May 08, 2020, 05:40:00 AM
The purpose of the inverter is to convert DC into AC, which the usual PSU units expect (ironically the PSU converts it back into DC, but that's another story).

The batteries are meant to give you a buffer for then the turbine isn't giving much juice, but given the amount of power required, it becomes cost prohibitive. I think it would be better to just let them shutdown when there is no wind rather than messing with expensive batteries that need to be replaced every 3 years or so anyway.

By the way the same consideration applies to solar, and you can combine both.

So yeah, if you have that larger 5kW turbine, it probably works for 3 miners (remember the 20/80 rule) Smiley

You need a grid tie inverter if you plan to use the grid as "battery", if your setup is separate from the grid, a regular inverter is enough.

In principle you need about 200~250v 50/60hz AC for the PSUs, how you achieve that is left to you... You might need extra things for protection and stabilization, depending. And don't forget the ground.
