1602  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antpool custom firmware? on: April 11, 2020, 04:01:26 AM
And nobody would ever think of making their local network DNS resolve antpool to some other pool, totally absolutely no one would ever think of doing that. Its not like it has a public crypto key embedded in the uri schema like Stratum V2...
1603  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Miner Full Control Unlock All Settings on: April 11, 2020, 03:52:36 AM
As long as he is not trying to sell his firmware, I don't think anyone would accuse him of being a scammer, probably most members will question his integrity and that's for sure because as we all agree that 53w/th for an S9 is a bit too much - if anyone makes a firmware that does that, they will be rich in no time.  Roll Eyes

While I tend to not believe the results, or at least the results could not be sustained for a reasonable period of time before toasting something, I will still wait for a proof nonetheless.

Don't forget the software could also add a hash stealing malware (or a malware for other purposes), so yeah, source code is important.
There is also the old faking hashrate thing, and using a rent behind. All of those things have been done already.

I don't think 56w/th is possible with the S9. 70 is already pushing it, i have seen something like that with immersion though, and Braiins OS+ claims to do 65 with an S9i, but will anyone here test it? (might want to wait for their next update to patch an important bug).

Oh and if you are desperate to get rid of your S9s, i could accommodate them too you know? I can even provide an US address but they will be taken to another country with cheaper electricity of course... Yeah, the halving is not an issue.

everywhere infected people are increasing and deaths are also increasing i have not seen even one country where some good news about  containing the virus spread (i dont trust china data ) in my country i am only seeing number increasing daily too

All you can do is spot where is spreading faster, and where the recoveries % is higher to guestimate better or worse results. There are various sites giving pretty graphics and animations from this data.

Yes there is one country that halted the virus since January: North Korea. But who is going to verify that? They closed their (very tight) borders around the time the Wuhan outbreak from the marketplace got widely known.

Its clear that those countries that didn't adopt strict isolation have the most cases and deaths.
1607  Other / Off-topic / Re: covid19 and buying miners on: April 08, 2020, 06:31:21 PM
72 hours work for most surfaces, but not for all. On different surfaces the virus lives at different times. For example, on stainless steel and plastic, it can live up to seven days. This is the latest information I read.

Same for plastic. Guess what those miners bodies and fans are made off...

If paranoid, do quarantine those boxes a couple of weeks.
1608  Other / Off-topic / Re: Windows defender corrupted on: April 08, 2020, 06:26:39 PM
I recently wanted to scan my pc, but i saw that my windows defender is blank because my defender is corrupted, when i try to search it in google about my problem i saw that the only way to fix it is by reinstalling my windows 10. So i would like to ask if it is okay to leave my windows corrupted, or just buy an antivirus for me not to reinstall my windows again because my internet connection is really slow these days.

I know that there are some IT people here in this forum, that is why i would like to ask about it.

And be used to reinstall everything every few months or so, that is the destiny of using windows. Until you learn to use something better.

Have you made backups of your unrecoverable data yet? You should...

Running a good windows is dangerous, imagine running a corrupted windows. Maybe your system is already compromised, and at any moment, someone somewhere will launch attacks from your PC, or traffic dangerous material thru it.

IT people would love you to take it to them every so often, they will happily take your money and fix it, knowing that you will be back later...

The only good Windows...

1610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has Seen a Major Boost Amid Dollar Crisis on: April 08, 2020, 03:40:53 PM
Bitcoin will never depreciate but the fiat system will due to the inflation.
The only rule of bitcoin in this market is just an alternative if we think of using it as online currency but a potential investment as adoption is expected while supply will eventually reduce over time.

people would realize that trusting the banking system is wrong as it's controlled by the government, there is no transparency even the suppose transparent which we called a business of trust, only decentralized asset is transparent and that is bitcoin.

I would say you shouldn't trust banks because of the fractional reserve, and you could say its the banks that control the gov not the other way around.

But how hard it is to tell people to find the truth about fractional reserve? And how would the world economy collapse the moment people discover it? This is because the mantra of the chicago school of economy would collapse (as it appears to be collapsing right now).

You think inflation is you major problem? But most of the money in "circulation" does not exist anywhere. Yes they print and reduce interest so people get in debt, they are afraid people are not getting enough in debt, this is the weakness of their school (growth by debt).

Bitcoin as money that does not lose value overtime, stimulates savings rather than spending, this clashes against Chicago school dogma, and can only be comprehended by studying the Austrian school of economy (growth by savings).

Bubbles are literally caused by this system. Once people get off that train, bubbles disappear entirely, forever. The Austrians advocated a solid money, something like gold, but not something backed in gold, i had to be gold itself so that you did not have to trust anyone to fulfill a promise. But now we have Bitcoin, and this trustless coin can fill that need perfectly without the risks of handling actual precious metals.

Little by little, people will learn the truth. Of course fiat is going down, its been intentionally made to go down by governments, and the recurrent crisis can only push it down a bit faster than "anticipated". Remember, even if if loses value faster and recovers, they will never allow it to go negative (deflation) because their Chicago school dogma forces them not to.

Under Chicago school, deflation is taboo. Under Austrian school, it is most welcome. Bitcoin is the future, fiat is the past.

1615  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I woke up to see a very disturbing twitter trend from the Asian country India. on: April 06, 2020, 12:44:57 AM
I woke up to see flooded images of a disturbing twitter trend in India send to me by my Indian friend’s, as they know I like politics a lot. The trend on Twitter was Muslim means a terrorist, basically they’re calling all Muslims a terrorist which is not good for a secular country like India. At this stage I would like to be open about my opinion on Muslims, and I don’t hate them just because few of them do misdeeds and I feel one should not be hated because of their caste. What do you’ll think of this will it cause problems for a country that’s already grappling with the issue of Coronavirus?. There’s also a incident which has led to this twitter trend leaving it for you’ll to judge, but as a civilised society we should not hate people based on their religion.

This is not a caste, it is a religion. Anyone can join it, you don't have to be part of a strata from society like a caste (which India traditionally had).

Unfortunately religion intolerance is nothing new. I think that is the very reason Pakistan exists, because its a segregation.

Some religious people are also intolerant, and commit atrocities (like people from any other groups or religion, for that matter). Humans are very quick to discriminate others for idiotic reasons, as if everyone came from the same mold. Some use race, others use country, and others religion, and even politics. This simple mindness of some is exasperating to say the least.

If a communist robs me, are all communists robbers? (well forcibly seizing the means of production is considered an act of theft so, maybe?) They will say the owners are the robbers by the unfair exploitation of the masses, yadda, yadda.

None. Just my word against his since my friend is dead.

You can still file charges.  Other people may come forward as well.

I tried last year. Detectives said statue of limitations are up. Imagine that statue of limitations on Child sex crimes??? Boggles the mind.

You should seek a good lawyer and sue. It baffles me that you come to ask for something like this in a forum rather than seek legal advise from a professional.

Also refrain from saying such threatening like things, you may harm your own case. Justice is not done by your own hand.

1618  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump refuses to wear a mask, but is open to take medicine? on: April 05, 2020, 04:54:41 PM
It has been suggested for a very long time now that if you’re stepping outside your home you should wear a mask for your own safety, but Trump has decided that he’ll not wear a mask which is weird in my opinion as that’ll send a wrong message to his followers. Furthermore he surprised the world by admitting that he’ll take the anti malaria medicine if cleared by his doctors, and I now worry about his health as why would a healthy person require medicine unless he has some symptoms for which he needs those meds. Now I know I’m creating controversy but ask yourself if you’re healthy would you take meds, however if you see any symptoms of illness you take it as a precaution and that’s the case with Trump don’t you’ll agree?.

This is incorrect, and is the reason people don't get it.

It is not for your own safety, but for the safety of others, should you be carrying the virus without knowing. If you don't carry it, it won't hurt to wear a mask either, so that is why.

Masks are not blocking the virus from getting in, which is why you should stay away from other humans, or places where other humans have been as much as possible. Preferably, you should not leave your home period.

If you think you can just go out because you wear a mask, you don't get it and are becoming part of the problem, the reason why the virus doesn't end faster. Do not go out is the first and foremost thing everyone should do, being told or not by the inept authorities that most likely let the issue escalate beyond their control due to their lax attitude to the problem.

Once you go out, you are exposing yourself. Your hands should not touch your face ever, do not "fix your mask", you could be introducing the virus from your own fingers, even if you are wearing gloves. Once you return home, you should properly sterilize those gloves/mask and anything you might have brought from the outside. It would be ideal if your shoes never leaved the entrance, Asian home style. Because yes, you can carry the virus in your shoes too...

The medicines that exist, are to deal with the symptoms once they manifest. It is to keep the patient alive, to spare him/her from needing a ventilator which is a very scarce resource. My country is actually doing experimental treatments, double blind and possible secondary effect tests be damned (more or less actual word from the officials). Yes we are basically experimenting live with drugs from China and Cuba, so far so good it seems...

If Trump wants to become guinea pig, be my guest. But if he puts himself in the position of needing that treatment in the first place, he is doing things wrong. Everyone should isolate themselves and that is that. Since people need food and medicine to live, think of a mechanism that can keep those supplies moving, with as little and as sparse involvement of people as possible.

This is not a joke, it is not a vacation. Its not that "gosh, I'm bored indoors", but more like, there is an incurable disease out-there and if i go out, i will make more people die, regardless of it killing me or not.

To summarize, it is not for your own protection, but for the protection of OTHERS, that you wear that fabric mask. The truly safer masks are needed by health workers and medics, and they are disposable, they are better at blocking infection, but any slight mistake in protocol handling can have the worker/medic infected and become a patient. They are risking themselves for others, getting into this danger all the time.
