2421  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Slush's Stratum Proxy Questions on: August 25, 2013, 09:41:02 AM
None.  Yes.  Not important at all if you use a miner that supports stratum.  No.  Not at all.  No.  Yes.

You don't need it unless you're using something that only can communicate via Getwork, and you want to use the more efficient stratum communications across the internet.  It doesn't do anything other than that.

You'd want to use the proxy if you had, for example a ASICMiner Blade which only communicates via Getwork, and you were using a pool that no longer supports Getwork.  There' no other reason to use it.

That makes sense with what I'm seeing, wizkid.  Two non-even payouts, and 17x 0.1NMC payouts.  Thanks. Smiley

About the same, 135-140.  Close enough considering how little the 7750 cost.  Plus mine's a low profile card so fits in a smaller case.
2424  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD7770 & HD7750 mining thread on: August 24, 2013, 09:00:03 PM
7750 is a good little card, does about the same hashes as a 7770, but a lot cooler and quieter (and no need for a PCI-E power cable).
2425  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Dead rear Fan on 4 7950 vapor-x on the same rig. on: August 24, 2013, 08:46:24 PM
Seized up fans have nothing to do with the motherboard or power, or whatever.  They're just shitty fans, and the ones seizing up are probably running hotter according to their location in your rig.  Those crappy little sintered bearings aren't designed to run flat out 24/7.  The microscopic amount of oil in them dries up quickly.

You could try stripping the fans down and putting a drop of light machine oil in the bearing of the fan motor (I use hair clipper oil, or paper shredder oil depending on what's handy).  Twirl them round a bit to get the oil in to the bearing and they should work OK again.

Is the pool paying NMC now?  I'm seeing lots of 0.1NMC transactions appearing in my wallet, but I'm not sure where from - I don't think it's from p2pool, but I can't be sure.  Huh
2427  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [140'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: August 24, 2013, 08:31:34 PM
This thread is off my watch list.... everytime I look at the update it is in regard to usb erupters, most of thr last 3 pages!

Ironically, a post by someone selling Block Erupters in their signature.  Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

I came home to all green lights tonight and so far been trying everything for 3 hours and still not mining.  Can you help. it seems others on here are having the same problem.  Could it be something to do with the com port drivers?

Try using a different client, just to see if it's your hubs, your drivers, or whatever.  The post I made just above this one has more info.
2429  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [16 TH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: August 24, 2013, 08:25:58 PM

Resets suck but a slow reset works just about every time.

I turn bitminter off.
 I power the hubs down.
 I power the pc off.

 I wait 10 minutes.
I boot.
I power the hubs.
I go to bitminter.
I wait 5 minutes.
I run the client.
I wait for all sticks to show.
I click 3 at a time.  Do not rush

The 10 minute wait is just 10 minutes of mining time wasted.  The 5 minute wait is another 5 minute wasted.

Why don't you just run something like bfgminer that can pick all the sticks up without all that messing about?  Install the VCP USB drivers, plug in each stick and wait a second for it to be given a COM port - this is only required the first time.  Then run bfgminer with the -S erupter:all parameter.  Save you 15+ minutes of farting about.

I'm running a lowly 11 Erupters, and I've had them running on BitMiner for ages using bfgminer, no issues at all.  10 off a cheap hub, #11 on the USB hub on the back of my monitor.

Doesn't make any difference, the proxy only allows getwork miners to work on stratum pools.  It doesn't do anything fancier than that.

Flipping difficulty is up to 65mil now.   Cry

Possibly interested in a Blade - might cancel my Jalapeno order and get the blade instead.  Price dependent of course (or it might still be cheaper to buy a load of Erupters instead?  I dunno.  Prices!  We need prices! Smiley

Ahem.  Grin  What's the story, nearly afternoon glory?  Tongue
2434  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: easyminer....not so easy? on: August 23, 2013, 10:23:49 AM
Here's an idea.  Don't use it.  cgminer and bfgminer are the industry standards for a reason.
2435  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 23, 2013, 10:21:02 AM

From touching the heatsink the one directly on top of the ASIC is completely cool, so is the end of the heatspreader.

Would anyone be interested in a set of the ASIC sink, a little VRM sink with thermal tape applied and a pre cut piece of 3M thermal tape to attach the other side of the stick to any heatsink.

Considering the heat from the ASIC on the BE basically all goes in to the PCB, you wasted your time and effort putting a heat sink on top of the chip.  It's like mounting your heat sink to the back of your motherboard in your PC.

Sorry BFGminer, back on the shelf, cgminer returns for now. Will wait another few months and try bfgminer again.

Or fix your USB hub or cables?

I've always had those, never occurred to me that there was something wrong.  Shocked  I though it was just part of the way nodes talked to each other.
2438  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [7000GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: August 23, 2013, 07:49:25 AM
Anyone else noticed GetBlock Latency seems a little higher with 13.3?  I used to get about 0.2s on average with 13.2, but it seems to run about 0.35-0.4s now.  I ran an old snapshot (Hyper-V snapshot I took before upgrading), and it still runs about 0.2s.

from a pool user point of view, I dont want to uave to sift through pages to find posts about the pool. All the besy to the store, I just have no need to read about it or people getting therr sticks while I just want indormation about the pool

+1

hi guys, i'm interested in the new butterfly miners, but i can't find a miner that isn't a "preorder" so, anyone really received a miner? how much do you had to wait?
thanks

WOW, YOU DIDN'T SEE THE THOUSANDS OF THREADS ABOUT THIS, OR DID YOU JUST INSTANTLY POST A STUPID QUESTION TO ANNOY EVERYONE?

Oh, try turning off the Caps Lock on your keyboard when posting stupid questions.  Thank you.
