2421  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon Coin. Just had to laugh when I saw this. on: December 22, 2014, 09:22:10 PM
This looks like any other coin that's ever been minted. Physical alt currency coins were fashioned after fiat coins, so.....what's the problem?

I think it's a cool marketing idea, a new spin on the traditional loyalty points that retailers offer.
2422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need to send money to Pakistan. Can I with Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2014, 07:55:24 PM
You could send payment with Bitcoin and then the receiver of the funds could convert the BTC to Pakistan currency OR to USD/EUR/GBP and then convert that USD/EUR/GBP to Pakistan currency.
2423  Economy / Services / Re: [CLOSED] COINUT.COM ★ Signature Campaign ★ Pay per post ★ Weekly ★ on: December 22, 2014, 07:51:34 PM
Really? I'm sad to see this campaign go! Let me know if you start it back up because I'll join again.

You'll now see my signature change as I join up with another campaign. Thanks for making the payments on time and accurate.

2424  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: December 21, 2014, 09:56:13 AM
I use BITMIXER for months already. It payed me always out correctly every week. Now it's recently changed as they pay for every post. Great and correct.

At your activity level you'd get paid more if you joined the CoiNut.com campaign.
2425  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: December 21, 2014, 07:48:52 AM
Any tips from anyone on how to get referrals?
2426  Economy / Goods / Re: Wholesale Gold Nuggets on: December 21, 2014, 07:37:18 AM
I'll buy one of those nuggets.

PM me and I'll give you an address you can send the nugget to. Upon receipt and verification of purity I'll send you payment.
2427  Economy / Economics / Casascius coin market valuation on: December 21, 2014, 07:32:19 AM
Hey, I've noticed a lot of variation in what people are offering their Casascius coins for on the forum. Some go for BTC2 other for greater than BTC5 and the difference in the coins could be series, year, and ANACS grade. The valuations have even changed as the USD price per BTC has changed. I see this difference now but also when comparing prices between today and 6 months ago. Back when BTC was trading at $600 the common valuation for a BTC1 coin (any year, brass or silver, any series...except 2011 series 1) was 2x. Today that valuation is more like 3-4x.

By valuation I mean the multiple that a sales price is of the face value of the coin. So a BTC1 Casascius coin selling for BTC2 would have a valuation of 2x...its sales value is two times its face value

I think we should discuss what the general market valuation is for a BTC1 Casascius coin to set a base (which will likely move over time) from which a seller and buyer can negotiate a fair price given that particular coin's condition, grade, mintage, etc.

Anyone have an opinion on this?
2428  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] MS67/66/65 Casascius Coins - High Grade Collectible History! on: December 21, 2014, 01:46:02 AM
dj, i'd be interested in that 2013 silver .5...i'm a buyer at BTC1.2

You've been valuing Casascius coins at 3x face value, however you value the .5's at 2.4x, i'll pay at that rate.

Let's talk.
2429  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius coin selection eBay has gone to shit! on: December 21, 2014, 01:37:49 AM
I have an opened silver with gold B,  1 BTC casascius coin, if you are interested.

Don't know why I opened it while I was drunk one night. Stupid stupid decision.

What does "opened" mean, you peeled back the label? Send pics.
2430  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius coin selection eBay has gone to shit! on: December 21, 2014, 01:37:09 AM
Well you can get plenty right here too...

I am selling two brass .5's one ungraded one MS-65 but nobody wants to buy at a reasonable price Sad

There's a nice MS-65 silver .1 on eBaY too.

ig

What are you selling the .5s for?

Where's the .1 silver? I just looked oneBay and didn't see it.
2431  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius coin selection eBay has gone to shit! on: December 21, 2014, 01:35:19 AM
2011 series 2, any all-Silvers, that's probably it.

I would like to see one of these Doge coins that someone was talking about recently.
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government confiscation on: December 21, 2014, 01:30:10 AM
If Bitcoins aren't in your wallet, they aren't yours.

This is probably the most important and most difficult thing to understand with respect to Bitcoin. The anonymity of the transaction completely changes what we all know about accounts and our savings and our investments.

You are not paranoid...
2433  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin up 10% in 24hrs WHY? One word: RUSSIA on: December 21, 2014, 01:28:18 AM
Any facts to support that premise?

It's fun to daydream.
2434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your coin count? on: December 21, 2014, 01:18:16 AM
Are you really expecting people to be honest on this thread?

Did you see that its anonymous?  Why wouldn't they?

The problem is the OP thinks "greater than 100 coins" differentiates early adopters from late?

How about some tiers like:

100 - 200
200 - 500
500 - 1000
1000+

Yeah, i struggled trying to decide on the right ranges. 25% of the votes have been for > than 100. Sounds like you're interested in understanding how that 25% at the high end is broken out?

I think it's great that ppl have more than 100 coins, however I think a majority of us have gotten on board (bought coins) in the last year and majority of people can't afford outlaying $100,000 to $30,000 on BTC hodlings (which is what one would have to spend this year to own 100+ coins).

So far this poll shows (at 67 votes) that 62% of respondents own less than 30 coins.

I can do another poll to see how the big owners break out but you gotta help me get the attention of those owners.
2435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your coin count? on: December 20, 2014, 06:49:00 PM
late adopters?

the currency is only 5 years old.. thats as bad as rejecting to adopt kids in foster homes that are not toddlers.. don't you understand in the first 5 years of life, currency and children are boring. its not until they start becoming independent and can think for themselves that you stop thinking of them as that little thing in the corner screaming for attention and start thinking of them as part of society.

so do not think that being 5yo is too old. but at the point where life in society truely begins

Good point but in that 5 years of existence if you only bought coins this year you're a late adopter. This isn't the future, it's today and the survey is meant to tally today's count.

Thanks for your vote!

+1
To get slightly better results, you can ask people not about their coins, but about other people's coins. Something like: "do you know personally anybody with >5 coins?" or "Among bitcoiners you know, how much bitcoins owns (in your opinion) the person you know the best?".

All due respect, that's essentially asking people make up an answer. Further, us Bitcoiners are still a rare breed...we are few and far between. I don't know ANYONE in my daily life that owns any Bitcoins.

If you guys have problems with the survey, quit posing and move on. We don't need your comments or your vote.
2437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your coin count? on: December 20, 2014, 06:44:35 PM

What do people have to gain by lying? The poll is anonymous...no one has to leave a comment and confess their count.

The few schleps that lie are the few that have zero confidence and respect for themselves, i'm willing to live with that small margin of error.
2438  Economy / Economics / Re: TED Video: The surprising workforce crisis of 2030 on: December 20, 2014, 06:24:10 AM
So what's the premise? Why do we have to watch the video?

What does Bitcoin have to do with this?
2439  Economy / Economics / Re: Microsoft beat Google to accepting Bitcoin! on: December 20, 2014, 06:21:29 AM
Do people buy things from Microsoft? hahaha.
2440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you FILTHY rich with Bitcoins ? on: December 20, 2014, 06:13:34 AM
Well this seems like an interesting idea to log all the IPs who claim to have a lot of coin.... ... ... ...

AGREED!

If they don't allow the data and stats to be seen without entering a Bitcoin address it sounds might suspect.
