1561  Economy / Economics / Re: The Next Step for Digital Currencies on: May 30, 2015, 07:12:57 AM
The next step for digital currencies is adoption - it has to be adoption. Without increased adoption future enhancements, access, wallet types, security features, etc. are meaningless! Press, word of mouth, big sponsors/advocates, education - all of this is needed to enable the broad public to be more comfortable with bitcoin.
1562  Economy / Economics / Re: NYSE declares bitcoin "emerging ASSET CLASS" on: May 27, 2015, 05:40:26 AM
As Gavin mentioned on the interview on 5/19/15 you can't pigeon hole bitcoin into a single category that we are already familiar with like an asset class or a currency.

Gavin Andresen isn't a "Wall Street fatcat" (as the derogatory colloquialism goes): he doesn't move - let alone make - markets.

Of course not, but very few Wall Street pundits do. This guy is a consultant - he's paid to know how business works and to have an opinion. I don't think his lack of material influence on the BTC market should discount his opinion on where the market is going. In fact, I think his lack of influence over the market keeps his opinion objective and valued. He can't gain much by trying to move the market because he's not big enough to be a market mover.

Hey Moriarty, aren't you the guy that scammed a bunch of people out of BTC80,000 their Bitcoin?

"Michael Moriarty / Moriartybitcoin
This guy has a lot of sites. Michael Moriarty is certainly an alias. He has stolen at least $80K of Bitcoin. Let us know if he's robbed you as well, we'll forward the evidence. 11/07/14/"

Reading his trust the most this thief has managed to get is 127btc! Where on earth did you get the 80,000btc from please? I would like to read up on some proof and hopefully you can show it lol

Hey, here's a more thorough list of his "love of our neighbors" in this community and from a trusted source -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=713699.0.

I think I have confused BTC80,000 with $80,000, which would fall in line with your 127btc number. Sorry for my mistake! However, his scam history doesn't appear to be a mistake. Don't give this guy the time of day. The more attention he gets the more his previous fraud is ignored and forgotten.

Hey Michael, are you the guy from Law & Order?
1564  Other / Politics & Society / US to charge FIFA for corruption! on: May 27, 2015, 05:19:38 AM
http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/27/football/fifa-corruption-charges-justice-department/index.html

The U.S. Justice Department plans to announce corruption charges against senior officials at FIFA, the world's soccer governing body, law enforcement officials say.

Up to 14 people are expected to be charged Wednesday based on an indictment in federal court in New York.

Arrests were being made overnight in Zurich, where members of the scandal-plagued organization were gathering for an election Friday that could give its leader Sepp Blatter a fifth term.

Deep details on the charges have yet to be disclosed, but one thing is known - the officiating crimes during last year's World Cup games are expected to be largely ignored. Upon hearing the news of this last bit, NED's Robben is quoted as saying "Phew! I don't take dives to get sacked!" (Translated from Dutch.)

Anyone have an opinion on this?

1568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald's now accepts Apple Pay and Google Wallet on: May 26, 2015, 06:40:03 AM
Dude, the hold up is the fact that the price is wildly volatile compared to all other currency options. Why would any business (especially McDonald's) want to add currency risk to their already lengthy business risks. McDonald's in the US is trying to fight the onslaught of forced minimum wage pressure, Bitcoin availability has to be low on the list. Further, you can still support the BTC economy by keeping your savings (at least short term) in BTC and then exchanging it out when you have to for purchases in fiat.

It's more likely that Apple Pay or Google Wallet will start operating in bitcoin before McDonald's starts accepting bitcoin. Ultimately the decision probably lies with the individual store owner (rather than McDonald's the corporation).
1569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe investment to get 6%/year (10-20k, possible long term. Important - safety) on: May 26, 2015, 06:33:30 AM
This is a trick question, there's no place to put bitcoin today to earn greater than 6% with little to no risk. Investing principles and opportunities are the same regardless of currency type - so if you can't earn that kind of return with Pounds, Euro, Dollars, or Yen, you can't do it with Bitcoin.

Be careful on this forum with anyone stating that they can give you a guaranteed return off your Bitcoin. There are alot of ponzi schemes going on.
1570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: May 26, 2015, 06:29:09 AM
Who do you think is the REAL Satoshi Nakamoto, creator of Bitcoin?

1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much longer till you can buy a Slurpee at 7/11 with Bitcoin? on: May 26, 2015, 06:19:04 AM
It's cool that some stores are accepting it, I give it 3 years for more widespread adoption.

Right now any business owner or shops like this can easily engage in Bitcoin and attract some cache to their usual boring existence. I think the real game changer is an intermediary that's willing to process payments and take the price volatility risk out of the equation. Businesses take on enough risk, they don't need to add the risk that what they charge (in BTC) for a product one day, becomes significantly less the next day (as that Bitcoin sits, depreciating, in their wallet.)
1572  Economy / Economics / Re: US Dollar collapse in 2015? (2) on: May 26, 2015, 06:16:28 AM
What's the point and meaning to the SDR pie charts? What's the alternative SDR pie chart referring to? A bit more explanation may help the discussion for those who aren't immediately in tune with the detailed facts. Thanks.
1573  Economy / Economics / Re: Good news and Quantitive Easing Without Any Impact on Bitcoin Price on: May 26, 2015, 06:11:15 AM
Westerness world is living in illusion of no inflation,In Europe deflation is reported ,reason to print
On USA QE officially ended, the truth is that printing is ongoing,to coverall that debt is produce next debt

All that money from printing went to real estate and stocks,Real Estate is one big bubble ,it has to crash otherwise next cycle of massive printing cant start,it isalways the same, fake economy, fake crashes and next cycle of fake scam economy start. How long time is possible to do,for sure not forever

Bitcoin is also overmanipulated already and very much related to that fake economy

Now i hear more and more news about integration btc with wall street,so maybe we have to wait for wall street boys

I don't disagree entirely with your concern but I don't believe that across the board - stocks, real estate, safety from inflation AND Bitcoin has all gone to shit. What's the consequence of all this morbid reality? An end to the world?

I agree that the Governments are printing debt on debt, but there will have to be an alternative to the world ending as a result. Mass debt forgiveness will have to happen - something that breaks the rules but rights the ship. Remember, regardless of what governments, Wall Street, or the FTSE do business does continue to move on. People still need goods and services, business and infrastructure still remains to provide those goods and services. The economy as a whole doesn't just disappear due to clever accounting.
1574  Economy / Economics / Re: What happened ? on: May 26, 2015, 05:56:41 AM
Well there are god and bad news but maybe it just needs time. Right now there is more supply than demand I guess that happened..
Anyways, do not lose your faith and have a part of your money, even a small one, with Bitcoin. Maybe it will be helpful in the future.

This chart is interesting, but there's no sense of time (aside from one looking up the timing of all these events). Maybe the poster put this up as a joke or satire, but it would be good to see relevant news events overlayed on the historical bitcoin price...if it were current, that is.
1575  Economy / Economics / Re: Please vote no on H289 -- N.C. Anti-Bitcoin Act (x-post: Bitcoin Discussion) on: May 21, 2015, 04:33:27 AM
Quick bump for the OP - you're not going to give us any more information on this? I keep waiting for details. We can't help you if you don't offer more information.
1576  Economy / Economics / NYSE declares bitcoin "emerging ASSET CLASS" on: May 21, 2015, 04:32:23 AM
http://www.coindesk.com/new-york-stock-exchange-launches-bitcoin-price-index/

Is it a currency? Is it an asset class? The NYSE sees it as an asset class. Interesting news, not to mention that they NYSE is establishing a ticker to track the BTC/USD price. There's some big money being put into bitcoin, like serious big money from very reputable people in finance.

This is about to get exciting...

So, does my request to join get considered for an open spot, if one becomes available on the 24th? I'm happy to keep my avatar active as a sign of good faith.

I am back Cheesy Smiley Cheesy

Yep. To clarify:
1. You have to re-enroll every month. Thought everyone should get a chance. Smiley

2. No reservation of spots.

3. But if you apply, and a spot gets free, either breaking the rules, disqualified with ban/valid negative trust, etc., the next application gets accepted.

That is it. Any more questions, feel free to ask. Cheesy

Cheers Smiley

I look forward to my turn, thanks!
1578  Economy / Economics / Re: Good news and Quantitive Easing Without Any Impact on Bitcoin Price on: May 21, 2015, 04:02:03 AM
Well, the US (at least) ended quantitative easing in Oct. 2014 -> http://www.bbc.com/news/business-29823798

Part of the reason we're not seeing a negative shakeout in the stock markets is because a lot of the negative news (that impacts the prices of stocks) was already "priced-in" to the price of the market. There will still likely be a correction to the US markets, but every day that goes by makes it less and less the fault of QE.

Now the real reason you're not seeing any consequence on BTC price is because (in my opinion) 1) the total volume of trades in one country is so relatively small that it's not impacted by the broad moves of the market, 2) the low relative volume (yet powerful) swings in supply and demand of BTC are going to drive price more than anything, and 3) we haven't seen a big impact (positive or negative) from QE or QE ending, markets aren't in turmoil, inflation is still low on the Dollar...maybe it's just too soon though.
1579  Economy / Economics / Re: Just found a person selling about 44,000 Bitcoins in localbitcoins on: May 19, 2015, 06:47:43 AM
He wants 310 USD / BTC, so he just buy on an exchange and sell on Local Bitcoins.

That can be true, but I'm wondering why a person would sell 13.5 Million USD worth Bitcoins as per his trade when he can wait for few more months or years and have the price go up and make ton of profit like say double or triple, make 50 million USD or something.

Someone offering to buy bitcoin at his 30% markup is a sure thing that can happen today, hoping the BTC price goes up in the next few years is not.
