Canada's central bank has sold off 1,000+ tons of gold reserves over the past fifty years, buying mainly US dollars, while an ounce of gold has gone from $35 to $1900.

You'll be delighted & flattered to hear these clowns think bitcoiners are not financially literate!

Well colour me financial illiterati!  Never mind X2, I'm X10

Anyone else notice that fly on Pences head?  It's been there for like 5 minutes now.

I didn't actually notice it but for much of the time I was listening only.  I saw it the post-debate images though.  Funny!
2463  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Presidential debates on: October 08, 2020, 01:53:31 AM
Hey look, a real debate.

 Boooring.

Wait!  A little excitement.... aw they got shut down.

Didn't post my usual morning greeting today because I'm preoccupied by Hurricane Delta.

It increased to category 4 and is headed straight toward our homes in Quintana Roo.

Talked to our custodians and hopefully trees are being cut that might fall on our houses, water tanks are being secured and windows are being boarded up.

We told one to abandon the property and go to a government shelter. We expect all our thatched roofs to be a write-off.

Luckily our main house and storage building have concrete roofs. We told our friends there that they can b&e the place if they need shelter.

Nothing like Daddy Nature to remind you about the real world. Hopefully no lives will be lost.

With any luck it will track northward a little sooner than predicted.
Very nice of you to offer shelter to your friends - hopefully they wont need it.
We're Qunitana Rooting for you Jimbo!  Stay safe.

For those who might wonder it's on Auckland, New Zealand. I advice not to take this clown 🤡 seriously.

Code:

Meh.  Can't fly to Auckland right now anyway.  Must be some Kiwi working at the Holiday Inn who can take a walk up the street and check it out.  If nothing else, the 2 km walk there and back will be good for his health.
2466  Economy / Speculation / Re: [WO] it could be read two ways on: October 05, 2020, 12:24:14 PM
Oi. Most times trading the cow for magic beans does not work well.....

Can’t... resist...

– Boyfriend doesn't have enough money, so he trades GF for 1 BTC.

Clearly sometimes, it works well.  Reminds me of margin trading.

Can I borrow your girlfriend on margin to short her?

Mmmm, 100x leverage.

 Pro tip: Go long  Grin

Wow, are you serious? That's a bit bigger than a seastead. Is it this actual one that you are refitting to be bitcoin-oriented?

Sounds like an interesting venture, Elwar. Congrats! Any timeshare presentations we can attend to check it out for a few nights free?

 Yeah! Any vouch shares?

Cuong Vi Truong version of the new Bitcoin logo

https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1305184338661736450/7tgFuRLN_400x400.jpg

What do you think?

Why do you think we need a new Bitcoin logo and what inspired you to this new design?

There is too much space between the elements which make it appear as the number 13.
As we all know, King Philip ordered the arrest of the Knights Templar on on Friday the 13th of October and the Knights were subsequently killed with many also being tortured.   Thirteen is also representative of the baker's dozen - also known as the devil's dozen.  There's also the issue of dinner parties where the 13th guest is usually very obnoxious or a total asshat, ie Loki and Judas.

any help/tools ?

There are 7.19683166E+19 possible phrases based on the information you've provided.  There are brute force tools to run through the possibilities but it is likely not feasible for a search of that size with conventional computing.  Someone has cracked a phrase with 4 (of 12) missing words using a rented GPU array (at a cost of $350) but with two more missing words, that figure would be millions of times higher.  Maybe you can undergo hypnosis and hope that more of the words can be drawn from your subconscious mind?  It could be a relatively cheap option.

Wouldn't be suprised if it was an election stunt because i don't trust Trump at all.

Is there a politician you can trust?  Other than a dead one that is.

hmm  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes twitter spat with swan bitcoin CEO semi-doxing PlanB https://twitter.com/100trillionUSD/status/1310637651482030080?s=20

what an entertaining shitshow. cory really seems to hate planB and doxxed planB age and other stuff. I have heard planB on podcasts and he sure does sound like he is in his 40ies or so. cory says he is in his early 20ies.  planB is hinting that cory used swanbitcoin customer data, which cory is the CEO of. cory is very busy defending his attack, planB is silent.

Peter McCormacks is tweeting that he thinks planB is 100trillion years old.

is that what has happened?

I feel like a trashy tabloid reporter.  Cheesy

If he was an undergraduate in 2011, working at a third-tier bank as an actuary, he had likely graduated in 2011 so he is in his probably in his early thirties.
You have the skill set of a trashy tabloid reporter  Grin  If you need a reference for your résumé, I'm your man.

Yes...

Ethereum is a shitcoin...

Don't buy it..

Don't even take it for free.   Tongue

Sorry...that "meme magic" is 100% lost on me.

1. not even into memes...took me months/years to finally ask "the hat-master" for a hat.
2. I did not get the meme...dog loves her already? duh! but then, why "she is asking me to go deeper"?
...confusing...does not compute...%#%#$%^*...primary CPU is out, secondary is overheating...

Have you ever heard of the expression:  "a picture is worth a thousand words"?

In essence, memes cause posts to be shorter, especially if they do not need to be explained.  Wink

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That's all well and good until your meme doesn't meme what you think it memes.

Edit again:  Oh, so was your link specifically to an Urban Dictionary definition of “whore” intended to suggest that I be a hypocrite for finding timeless old stories relevant to new problems, but not chasing idiotic, oftentimes politically motivated fads in language?  If so, that is such an absurd confusion of concepts that I could not guess what you did not say.

I'm glad you managed to wade through the absurdity of it all and realize the error of my ways.  Expect the mind of ephemeral Homer when reading my posts.

Do not forget that SwayStar wanted to deplatform WO as an “extremely toxic community”.*  Quote-unquote.

* Original topic title:  “Should Bitcoin Wall Observer thread be deleted?”  SwayStar later edited the title and OP only to call for merits to be disabled in WO.

I always comport myself as a gentleman, and I suggest that others do likewise.  I think that I am also well on record as communicating professionally with the few females who are interested in technical or financial topics, who are here for that purpose, and who behave themselves as mature adults instead of tantrum-throwing toddlers.

Whereas I read CryptoTourist as giving a big fuck-you to deplatforming, to cancel culture—to the notion that more than twenty-seven thousand pages of forum posts should be memory-holed because someone Got Offended On The Internet.  Here, honey, have a dose of “toxic”.  No, you can’t delete it.  This forum does not have a “Code of Conduct”, a “Trust and Safety Team”, or other features of a padded playpen.  Anyway, that was my take on it.

Accordingly, sirazimuth can go skullfuck himself with a dildo sculpted from his own sanctimonious bullshit.

I am using uncharacteristic expletives for a reason.

For the record.  At greater length than before.  Because apparently, some people just don’t get it.  Sometimes, I need to be less subtle.

On another note...

[—discussion of whoring—]

 C'mon man.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=whore

An exposé on nullian hypocrisy will suffice.

Perhaps you may mistake me for a Christian—or for indulging the modern Victorian prudishness which, by no accident, coincided with stupid men’s invention of feminism.  Do you suppose that I buy into the Nineteenth Century’s orgy of modern democratic delusions?  Given the implausibility that I could be so foolish, I think it’s more probable that you have just never heard the old aristocratic aphorism, stated as to the lower classes, “The whore protects the virtue of the wife.”

Men will fuck women who are not their own wives.  That is human nature, on a level that cannot be changed unless humans are replaced by meat-robots (n.b.).  If common prostitutes are unavailable to low-class men who can neither access nor afford mistresses and courtesans, then they will chase each others’ wives, and society will fall apart.  To recognize this fact of life is necessary for wise governance—but of course, it would be indiscreet to mention this to the masses who need to be governed.  Oops.  Anyway, that is the old-fashioned view; attempts to outright eradicate prostitution are mostly new to modern democracies steeped in feminist dogmata.

So as for the lower classes.

Moreover, given that you name yourself after Homer, I’d expect that you would recognize my habitual allusions to classy sex in classical antiquity—including my posts with classical and neoclassical statues of Phryne, the hetaera who has inspired poets and artists for millennia.  That is neither modern nor degenerate.  For example:

I usually don’t label these things.  If you neither know, nor seek to know by yourself, then you do not deserve to know.  Anyway, this is a statue of Phryne—history’s most famous practitionress of the oldest profession:
What, you want a clearer view?  (Do a double-take:  Yes, this is a statue.)

nullius’ girlfriend

Occasionally, as hereby, I do explain just a bit.
Loading image...

That is a statute of the most famous ancient Greek ἑταίρᾱν, the cultural equivalent of a classical gaṇikā.

I must remark but briefly:  Phryne was once tried on a criminal charge of blasphemy.  As an argument in her defence, her advocate stripped her naked before the tribunal.  That was his actual argument:  She was too beautiful to be guilty!  The Greeks associated physical beauty with moral excellence (and ugliness with wickedness).  Phryne was acquitted.

How do you accuse me of hypocrisy?

You need a better dictionary.  Preferably one that, among other things, gives etymologies.  LOL!  A philology joke.  There I go being subtle again.  I cherish subtlety, because I care.

Edited for clarity.

I was more concerned with 'modernity' than 'whore' but I appreciate the insight nonetheless.  Cryptotourist understood what I wrote and had already defended your hypocrisy as trolling; I was happier with that explanation.

I named myself after Homer  Embarrassed
