2501  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Will you use a Facebook coin? on: June 23, 2019, 06:38:38 AM

Firstly, the coin is no longer name facebook coin for a group of payment institutions, technology, marketplace, telecommunications etc have come together to create the coin which is now called Libra.

I gather they have hit some trademark issues with the name.
2502  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Facebook's privacy invasion is INSANE on: June 23, 2019, 06:36:30 AM
I don't use Facebook or Twitter, and I only use Ebay as a guest. Amazon gave me a free prime account, and I do use that sometimes. This does give me a few problems in on-line trading, and I'm a bit cautious about using many of the escrow services. Sometimes I think it is better to rely on a personal evaluation of a buyer. I need to becoming more active in my domain name business, and I'm starting to offer a 10% discount for payment with Bitcoin. As a result of this, I'm considering using my trust and reputation ratings with Bitcoin Talk to instil confidence in buyers. I don't know what my account(s) are worth, but it is probably more than many of the names I'm offering for sale.

So what do you guys think? Could Bitcoin Talk be better than Facebook to check Bitcoiners reputations?
2503  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Population rise and downsides on: June 22, 2019, 07:10:00 AM
Most of the world population now has no function other than consumer and polluter, and this is why the deep state is trying to create an elite race. They are using vaccination, pharmaceuticals, drug abuse, gender blurring, and war to reduce the populations that are not part of this elite.
2504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEO of Bank of America: “We Want a Cashless Society” on: June 21, 2019, 03:39:02 PM
Ironically I'm finding it harder to pay by credit card at the moment. Several of the systems seem to fail regularly, and many smaller shops and cafes are starting to become cash only. They state that Visa charges are too high.
2505  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran shoots down a U.S. drone on: June 20, 2019, 03:50:26 PM
The US will probably send a drone in response

Was it in mining
You need to be an elite miner to post there
2507  Other / Meta / Re: Do we really need trading discussion section? on: June 20, 2019, 11:53:16 AM
I'm crap at trading so I can do with some advice
2508  Other / Serious discussion / Will you use a Facebook coin? on: June 19, 2019, 08:56:04 AM
My attitude is - no way!!

I don't use Facebook, and I don't like their lack of privacy and security. They seem to be talking about pegging the coin to a bunch of fiat currencies, and that is another big disincentive for me. I suspect we will start to see some government or banking based cryptos, and I'll probably end up using a couple of those alongside Bitcoin.
2509  Other / Ivory Tower / Hardware wallets. on: June 19, 2019, 08:47:56 AM
I really need to investigate hardware wallets. My instinct is to rely on running a full node, and using sensible security precautions on the computer. I feel slightly uncomfortable about using a 3rd party product, especially with a Bluetooth connection. I'm sure this a self-imposed limitation, as so many people seem to be using these wallets, and they have obviously checked the security they offer.
2510  Other / Off-topic / Re: Android is a boon or curse? on: June 19, 2019, 07:59:54 AM
The open source Android is a bonus. It's the Google controlled version that is the curse.
2511  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Count down to Iran invasion on: June 19, 2019, 07:58:20 AM
If the US starts a war with Iran, which they can't win, then China will wipe them out in the South China seas.
I suspect that Iran will take the war onto mainland US as well, so US citizens will suffer for Washington's subservience to those trying to build the new world order.

It's time for the US to stop shoving money down the military toilet, and to attempt to rebuild the homeland for the taxpayers.
2512  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S government blames Iran for attack on oil tankers in Gulf of Oman on: June 18, 2019, 02:04:56 PM
I'm happy to believe that Washington ( not the US ) seems to be pretty incompetent at creating these false flags. The chemical attacks if Syria, and the aid fiasco in Venezuela are just two example of their incompetence. They are even admitting they are lying and cheating over them - Pompeo and Bolton for example.

I think tags have their uses, but are not really required for general threads.
2514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold forum on: June 18, 2019, 10:39:24 AM
I used Kitco when I had the recycling business, and that was mainly for copper and aluminium news. I went to the forum becuase somebody posted about them talking rubbish there. I don't like to see people who don't understand Bitcoin dismissing it. It took me a while to understand how virtual assets can have a real value, and not just a fiat value. I didn't get it until I realised that things like novels are virtual assets with a variety of physical manifestations. The asset is in the virtual novel, and not the manifestations. I guess it is a bit of a leap to relate that to Bitcoin, but once you do it, you can understand how a mathematical solution can have such a value. Just think of the value if Pythagoras had put a copyright on Pi.
2515  Other / Meta / Re: Can We have bitcointalk user interface changed to something like Facebook UI? on: June 17, 2019, 05:59:07 PM
What is facebook? Smiley

I don't use it because it is full of UI ( useless information ).
2516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: New User w/ Node Question on: June 17, 2019, 05:56:29 PM
I can think of 3 reasons.

They don't understand it.
They don't want to tie up their hard disk with the blockchain
They don't want to synchronise the chain every day.
2517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold forum on: June 17, 2019, 05:03:29 PM
@Jet Cash, over at kitco I read Banned Full. Did you step on some wrong feet? Smiley

I put a link to Jet Cash in my sig, and they banned me for advertising. I forgot it has a link to Bitcoin Talk on the index page, and they probably didn't like that. Never mind, it's their loss. I leave them to carry on talking rubbish and misinformation.
2518  Other / Politics & Society / Re: LATEST: Two oil tankers were damaged in a suspected attack near the entrance to on: June 17, 2019, 04:17:04 PM
It seems that the "limpet mines" that the mendacious Pompeo stated were being removed by the Iranians, were in fact magnetic retainers for the scaling ladder that was used to evacuate the sailors rescued by the Iranian ship.
2519  Other / Politics & Society / Re: LATEST: Two oil tankers were damaged in a suspected attack near the entrance to on: June 16, 2019, 06:35:50 PM
Its obviously the US.  .

Unfortunately it isn't the US, it is Washington. This seems to be a separate country that has taken over the US. The US just provides the money and the bodies for the wars
2520  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S government blames Iran for attack on oil tankers in Gulf of Oman on: June 16, 2019, 01:43:15 PM
The saddest part of this is the incompetence of Washington in creating these false flags.

They started by saying it was torpedoes, but the damage was above the water line. Then they stated that it was limpet mines planted by scuba divers, but those are designed to explode under water. Then they stated that the Iranian rescue boat was removing an unexploded mine in full view of the surveillance cameras - the obvious way to remove this would be to use a scuba diver. Then they stated that they "saved" all the sailors, and Iran didn't take off any. The next statement was that Iran had all the sailors in captivity. The trusth is that rhe US didn't do anythig to help other than to send a corvette to monitor the situation. The ship owner stated that the explosion was caused by flying objects ( two ) , and Washington has reported that Iran has attempted to shoot down one of their military drones that was in the proximity f the ship.

No rational person would believe that Iran would attack a Japanese ship whilst it was in trade discussion with the Japanese prime minister. Also one of the ships is owned by a company that has been supportive of Iran in its oil trading ventures. Why would they attempt to "punish" this shipping company. The only countries that benefit from this attack are Washington and their allies. I know of nobody now who give any credence to the false flag news that comes from Pompeo and his associates. All of these actions are turning the US into an irrelevance in world affairs, and it is time Trump put a stop to it, and he concentrated on lifting the US out of its 3rd world internal environment.

If you aren't sure about the news, then ask yourself why the report by one of the ship owner has not been reported in the mainstream media.
