2501  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Basic Types of Trading on: October 05, 2021, 01:51:26 PM
I appreciate your post here even though it requires more and more study and discussion so newbies can understand. It's easy to say that this and this goes with this but the practical application would be the best way to learn. Like registering to Binance or any other exchange that provides those different markets and just see the features in it.

One of the best ways to learn about trading is through the academy of Binance. I just appreciate how they provided so much knowledge and just made it into the academy. It's worthwhile reading.

If you have an extra laptop lying around, you can do a complete wipe to it and never connect it to the internet.
It's not enough to just not connect to the internet. There should no longer be a possibility to do it. You need to make sure that you don't have the required hardware to ever establish such a connection. That entails the Ethernet and WIFI card.

I feel it's a bit excessive, unless you HODL lots of Bitcoin. Besides, it's not easy task if you need to open your laptop or the Ethernet/WiFi card is soldered into the motherboard. It's more realistic to disable/uninstall the networking service.
I was thinking of removing the wifi card. I think it's kind of replaceable, depending on the laptop of course but de-soldering is easy, you just need a soldering iron though lol. Maybe you can search for your laptop on the internet and see a Wi-Fi hardware upgrade and then find it just to remove there. Better take the hardware wallet route lol.

It's not enough to just not connect to the internet. There should no longer be a possibility to do it. You need to make sure that you don't have the required hardware to ever establish such a connection. That entails the Ethernet and WIFI card.
I never thought about that before when I tried it the first time. I just input in the wallpaper and a bunch of words that say "Do not connect to the internet" if there's someone accessing my air-gapped laptop. That's a better way of doing it, making sure no connection. Well, I just opt for a hardware wallet when I had the chance before, never regretted it.

If you do that and import keys that were once used with a hot wallet, they will remain as keys that were associated with a hot wallet. You are just using them in a safer environment now, but they are not secure, and remain potentially vulnerable depending on the software they were generated in.
It's better to be safe than sorry. Paying for the transaction fee is better than paying with your whole wallet.
2505  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fairdesk.com Scam! on: October 04, 2021, 06:43:57 AM
Was it just 24 hours since your posting when you contacted them? How did it become stupid? It just hasn't been resolved yet. I think you should be more patient.  I hope that you could update us here on what happens. That will be helpful towards the future prevention of possible hacks and scams.

Telegram is a scammer paradise. Anyone can see this accusation thread and contact you pretending that they are from the service. It's easy to trick you. Please do not send any money if they ask. Let us know when it resolves.
This is what I have thought of immediately upon reading the post of OP. Maybe they have taken advantage of the name of Fairdesk and then made it "Official" or something.
2506  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about this? on: October 04, 2021, 01:33:58 AM
First of all, a gambling site that would immediately make you feel that you are a cheater doesn't deserve any more attention towards the members. Reputable gambling sites wouldn't be that strict, and they wouldn't assume that someone is cheating. I don't think everyone has experienced what you are talking about, but it can happen for sure. It makes it even more challenging to see it happening to multiple people, but I guess it's just how the world works. It's unpredictable.
2507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reputable dice sites with instant/flash bets on: October 02, 2021, 11:48:07 AM
I didn't know that there are people who really want that kind of instant gratification after numerous bets. It's not that easy to watch instantaneous bets to that extent. I would rather savor the moment of actually pressing the button to bet and see what the outcome is after the game. It's just that feel for me.

Stick with wolf.bet if that's what you are used to.

2508  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Battery Pandemic on: October 02, 2021, 02:56:50 AM
Their support can't cope with number of complains they receive, and I heard some rumors that they are working on some new ledger device, so maybe they will stop supporting X and S soon, like they did with Ledger Blue and Ledger HW1.
So they are creating a new device, maybe a rival to the Trezor HW and forget all the mishaps on the Nano X, like just moving on to the next. I hope they don't stop the support with this. Do you mean by the updates of the firmware or just the device itself and not reselling it anymore?
2509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally starting my IDO journey on: October 01, 2021, 02:45:23 AM
Is this something like a collective form of raising money and then buying it with all the investors? All the stuff when I was exploring the site is that the new pools are all private. How do you plan on investing, OP? Do you have invites of it of some sort?

Pardon my lack of knowledge in IDOs etc. I would want to learn more.

2511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why NFTs projects are not making wave-like ICOs on: September 30, 2021, 12:33:48 PM
Why I didnt hear such news about it John Cena maikg his own nft? Missed this one.
Because you can't see him:Smiley

Well, it may still not be that understood by many. Like many people that I'm telling about NFT's, what's the difference? Like the difference between just saving the file as JPG by copying the minted one and having the specific art for NFT. It's hard to explain how valuable it is for everyone to have that kind of technology verifying the ownership and staff. It's just that not people value it as much.

I think the difference that they will have between ICOs and NFTs is how they become hyped. I think NFTs haven't reached the ICO level of hype or something to that sense.
2512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Was thinking about switching wallets to a local one on: September 30, 2021, 09:37:30 AM
If you have an extra laptop lying around, you can do a complete wipe to it and never connect it to the internet. There, you can do the advice from hosseinimr93. It's better to create new keys when doing this and do not import your old ones.

Maybe you can find the time to checkout hardware wallets as well, such as Ledger and Trezor. This could be useful if you don't have an extra device to use for the air-gapped device.
2513  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Single pair trading or double pair? on: September 30, 2021, 06:34:15 AM
I think that would depend on your strategy and your approach towards trading. Whether a single pair, double pair, or multiple pairs for your strategy. If you can monitor more coins on the specific strategy, then it's best to have numerous pairs. You should do that by that is to decide your trading limit and hope that it goes your way.

You can imagine it this way. If you have a $1000 balance and have double pairs, you could either split that $1000 on the specific pairs, whether you will use the $500 or split it to multiple trading opportunities by averaging your entry point.

Having multiple pairs could give you more trading opportunities, and that would be awesome if you could trade it all. That's what I do with my spot account and continuously change it 24/7 with my Gunbot. It makes it easy to deal with multiple pairs, and the averaging entry point is automatic if you set it to your strategy.
2514  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Bitcoin ETFs really important? on: September 30, 2021, 06:03:10 AM
Whether you support this or not, it will still be a part of the BTC journey. You can imagine it this way.

There's a future in there wasn't any Bitcoin ETF anywhere in the world. Bitcoin is still usable. Bitcoin ETF = Not that important to BTC
There's a future that there is a successful Bitcoin ETF somewhere in the world. Bitcoin is still usable. Bitcoin ETF = Not that important to BTC

Bitcoin ETF = Assurance for some by diversifying to the asset without owning the asset.

And to some who are not that tech-savvy to understand how to actually have BTC in their portfolio will benefit significantly with ETF's.

Let's wait for the future of this. They are probably taking their time with it.
2515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Staking stables? on: September 30, 2021, 01:30:55 AM
This is actually the safest for me but it requires you to own a Ledger wallet (X or S). But if you want a better one as I own an S version which is the older one, I found no issue with it.
You have no issue with the Nano S but have you tried the lending feature? I haven't explored it yet and I don't have extra funds that I'm not going to use for now. I may try it soon once I have converted some of my BTC.

While the X has a battery issue.
I do have the Nano X and thankfully I don't have any troubles with the battery and I think I can lend if I would use that feature.
2516  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Machine on: September 29, 2021, 02:23:14 PM
I like the idea of running your node to verify and run it for yourself. What I like about it is that it's dedicated to that use. You won't have to depend on other users to run a node for you anymore, and you can verify that it's accurate data from the network. Be a support to the network. That's the best way to show that you are all in with BTC.

Definitely for the non-tech savvy people who don't have a server to run 24/7 but still want to support the network.
2517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador to mine bitcoin using Volcanic energy on: September 29, 2021, 08:12:12 AM
I like the "Volcanode" Pun. Nice!

It's wise to use that. The geothermal energy from the volcano could be used to power up miners and the mining operations there, which is ideal since it's a renewable energy source. I'm not sure how efficient they can be, but having a lower cost to mine BTC is perfect.

Upon checking the geographical information of El Salvador, they have a hefty amount of volcanoes surrounding them, so it's brilliant as well.

I hope this would be the approach of people mining with all the renewable energy resources to maximize their efficiency and help the environment—no more critics of the "energy-hungry" crypto economy.
2518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Show me you're ethereum price prediction. on: September 29, 2021, 07:48:48 AM
I think it's still too early to tell if it wouldn't reach the $6k mark. What we could do is continuously investing in the asset if we think it will get it. At least with that mindset, you can be at the market all the time, and you wouldn't need to time it ideally. As long as you are exposing yourself to the suitable risk, it will inevitably change the course of your profits once you HODL the right coins.

My chart there shows only support and resistance. With this in mind, I do see a pattern of it rising again because it has bounced off the support line below and could now break the resistance. Once that penetrates, I think we are heading off to beating the ATH again.

Keep note that I'm only on a small timeframe because of my trading bot. I like to have multiple trades done 24/7 instead of monitoring it continuously.
2519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin tipping on Twitter on: September 29, 2021, 07:25:12 AM
Twitter themselves have a FAQ page about it, here you go.
Thank you so much on this. I have read it and it seems that they are just enabling how the people operate in the Twitterverse and integrating stuff more and more to stay within the platform, which is not a bad idea. I'm just not sure how they are going to regulate it or something like that.

It has both instructions on the off-platform thing and the one for Bitcoin through Strike. It seems pretty straightforward, though I don't think there's a minimum requirement from what I'm reading? The only really obvious requirement is that they must have tips turned on and must be 18 and above.
What I was talking about it the monetization thing that they have. I guess it's different just from tips. I think this is the link below.

2520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Staking stables? on: September 29, 2021, 06:44:54 AM
Lending is also fine, mean in general something with a ROI which won't scam me for my stables Smiley (or horses)
So have you tried it? I'm seeing in my Ledger Manager that you can do the Lend option. It accepts the following stables
  • USDC
  • DAI
  • USDT

It's pretty informative within the site linked below. Just be careful about how much you are risking. I haven't tried it TBH but I think it's worth to try.
