2521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: StarTrader.io: A new NFT game in 3D. on: March 03, 2021, 09:36:54 AM
Can we also sell the NFTs at the website? If you can disassemble the NFTs wouldn't that defeat the purpose of being unique? I believe in your vision and I think that we should take notice of NFT because they have the potential to grow in an explosive manner.
2522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index - The impact of BTC in the World on: March 03, 2021, 08:56:14 AM
If the bitcoin sector is only responsible for a measly .59% of electricity consumption then there should be nothing to be worried about. I would say that the long-term feasibility of bitcoin's power consumption can't be clear but if we can manage to keep it at a certain price point as an equation was made by a user in this thread that concludes with bitcoin electricity consumption reaching a 3.8% if the price was around 500 thousand per bitcoin which is still not happening for a long time so I would lean more on the fact that it will be feasible.

The user who made the thread.

2523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Many people think that Bitcoin is not a currency with practical uses on: March 03, 2021, 08:17:45 AM
it's not just a speculative asset but isn't it been used in buying stuff, some even illegal stuff that includes as practical use of BTC.
I don't get how they do not consider bitcoin as a currency because as the quote above says, bitcoin can be used to buy stuff. Are there like some arbitrary numbers that bitcoin needs to reach before being considered a currency because if that was the case then I think that we have reached that a long time ago. Isn't fiat money the same as bitcoin, they do not have any inherent value in the first place, fiat were given their own value AFAIK. Practical uses is just a matter of perspective and those who think that there is no practical uses for bitcoin, they should get their head out of their asses.
2524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Major Risks in Crypto Business on: March 03, 2021, 07:31:40 AM
It seems to me that you want somebody to spoonfeed you and give you all the information you need without any effort on your side. Grin
The biggest crypto risks in trading/investing are:
1.Choosing a crypto exchange platform that isn't legit.
That is how writers take their inspirations for writing though, they are spoonfed information and with that information, they will be able to formulate a prose or a paper that they can share to other people. I don't like OP's idea of getting information because it is a non-fiction kind of book but at the least he/she has the balls to ask us those information, no? Your number one isn't a risk because you have a choice and you can ask for people the advice on a certain exchange and find other exchange that is more trusted, it is more of an error on the person.
2525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining – Made in China on: March 03, 2021, 06:42:17 AM
To answer the question about China being a leader in the mining race is because the government itself sponsors the mining AFAIK that is the reason that they banned the use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in their country so that they can monopolize owning bitcoin. Other countries can take over the race if they wanted too but I don't think that they will be doing that because they don't find a long term viability in building bitcoin mines to get ahead of the game, the taxes will have to go somewhere the people can benefit from in a long term scenario.
2526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have an old laptop I purchased used in 2011 on: March 03, 2021, 06:05:56 AM
It doesn't hurt to try to run something like Recuva to see if there are any files that aren't fully overwritten. I would probably prefer it to be mounted externally so nothing gets written on it any further. I have doubts that you'll get anything. Chances are it'll be overwritten if it has been formatted and used.
Recuva is a lifesaver and I agree, nothing wrong with checking it out because you never know. My question to OP is are you sure that you are going to find out any bitcoin there? Is the previous owner has some business doing bitcoin?
2527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lowering the electricity bill by mining cryptocurrency on: March 03, 2021, 05:24:19 AM
It could work if I want to get a mining rig but I am living in a tropical country where there is only two seasons: Sunny Season and Rainy Season. Sunny Season is when the everyone is out in the beach and the electricity spike is high and fires are prevalent so I wouldn't take chances. Rainy Seasons will be the time when floods will be devastating houses or if not floods, the rig might be destroyed because roof leaks will be a problem too and strong winds can pick up roofs.
2528  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where will someone who has no knowledge of bitcoin start from to learn? on: March 03, 2021, 04:46:13 AM
You can start at the Beginners & Help(Click this to go to Beginners & Help) if you don't want to leave the forum, you can ask newbie questions there or you can view other questions there about almost anything in this forum. Bitcoin Discussion on the other hand is general talks about bitcoin which will be difficult for you as there are tons of shitpost in this board and trolls are a pretty strong users in this board so tread carefully.
2529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do I convince people that Bitcoin isn't a financial pyramid? on: March 02, 2021, 03:54:00 PM
You don't. You let them formulate their own opinion and criticise from the sidelines letting time, and ultimately history, determine the outcome.
Was going to say this but then I also realized that letting them formulate their own will only create an echo chamber that will get impregnable the longer it stands. Before letting them on, give them some articles to read and other informative stuff that is related to bitcoin and its constituents, that will only work if that person is rational and open-minded to new ideas. You won't win a battle of wits against a persistent idiot.
2530  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Forget Blockchain poassword on: March 02, 2021, 03:14:29 PM
Did you backup the 12 seed words? If you have it you can import to electrum and recover your funds there, no need password.

If you didn't back up the 12 seed words and has some other data (Wallet ID, email, and wallet.as.json file) you can follow this instructions here to brute force the password https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5320922.msg56467462#msg56467462
If this is your problem OP, then try to follow word for word what is instructed, used it once by a friend of mine via email and .json file. I am curious as to how did you forget your blockchain password with that much amount of bitcoin in it, I want to know the story behind it because this could be a story that will help other newbies in what shouldn't be done to lose their password.
2531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Citibank Article "Bitcoin At the Tipping Point" on: March 02, 2021, 02:26:39 PM
It really is a very interesting article and I think it can come close to the truth. We see that Institutional engagement with Bitcoin is growing more and more. As this year, the interest of financial institutions is becoming stronger and more focused. Hopefully the year will bring us more good news.
We can't be so sure about that because a lot of fuzz has been going on and companies can lobby each other and manipulate them into not investing because they are shorting bitcoin, we know that this can happen with stocks so why not with bitcoin right? I want to bet the same as you that financial institution support is going strong for bitcoin and the market as a whole but we should know that companies are not our friend.
2532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can / cannot replace the banks ? on: March 02, 2021, 12:37:23 PM
Been discussed multiple times that Bitcoin will not replace banks. These two differ from various characteristics such as centralization, stability, and the likes. Also I do believe that replacing banks is the main purpose of cryptocurrencies. Cryptos are meant to be used for transactions which involves digital currencies. Also it would be impossible knowing how strong the support banks are getting from different governments due to regularization. Let things be. An individual may store his wealth to cryptos but be ready for the risk. An individual may store his wealth to banks but be patient.
We can easily gauge the support by checking how many laws that are there to protect banks compared to cryptocurrency that was made within 10 years to make the fight fair. I once believed that bitcoin will be able to replace the banks because there were a lot of people that associates bitcoin with being your own bank but right now, I have doubts that it can be possible. One example is when fiat is lost in any way, banks can just replace the missing notes by printing but in the case of lost bitcoins, there is no possibility of reprint or reproduction.
2533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EBL - Esports Balkan League on: March 02, 2021, 11:54:48 AM
~
If you think about the first picture it's Europe and all official competitions, EBL is one of them. I assume not so popular as some others for now. Well, for now it's easy to predict some games here, but I'm not sure about the odds on this games. As I said for next games I will try to find some good book that offers bets on EBL games.
Well, Balkan is not all of Europe though so that was what I was confused, why there is UK when it isn't part of the Balkan Peninsula. Wouldn't it be in between unpredictable and predictable because as you have said, the teams are not that popular. Wouldn't the same old sportsbook website that offers other e-sports bet be able to offer the same thing?
2534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling? on: March 02, 2021, 11:15:30 AM
Gambling is a profession, I know.  But this job is not long, and it cannot sustain you for life.  Consistency needs training, but is it possible to deny the threshold of ambition?  Very few people have success with gambling in both calculation and luck.  So, entertain and stop at the right time.  Gamblers are often rooted in nature. Grin
It won't be sustainable if that is your only stream of income, the problem with gamblers by profession that do not last long in the game is that they do not have any other steady stream of income be it passive or active which can help them in the times that they do not earn a lot of money when they are gambling.
2535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Football Gambling System: A Betting Experiment on: March 02, 2021, 10:38:10 AM

You can't use probability and statistics on events that are not connected as is the case with dice. There is no math in the world that can tell you which number is more likely to roll in the next dice throw, each throw is a separate event. Yes it will all fall inside nominal values when you have large enough number of events but that does not help you when betting. Local results can and often will be slanted heavy to one side and there is no telling when normalization will commence.

That is also the reason why every martingale strategy will get busted sooner or later unless you have infinite bank and no betting limits.
I beg to disagree, everything in this world has math, humanity is obsessed with patterns and math helps us find those patterns no matter how obscure. Here is a link regarding 6 sided dice probability. I do agree with you about Martingale though, that kind of strategy will only work if you have the money.
2536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Gambling and Fantasy Sports - A Gap in the Market? on: March 02, 2021, 10:02:40 AM
There certainly is. Perhaps there also isn't enough demand from crypto-gambling enthusiasts and regulars since most are focused on casino-based games such as dice, slots, poker, roulettes, and what have you. It's nice to see actual fantasy sports bookies on the crypto scene, given its recent rise in popularity. But again, no sportsbook would include this if there isn't enough demand to make it a viable addition to their platform. It'll take resources and funds for advertisements on its initial launch, too, so it's really hard to make it work currently, but hopefully soon we get it.
I have seen some of this games but you are right, there isn't a lot when it comes to customer base. Not to mention that most fantasy enthusiasts are not into gambling as most of them prefer board games like DnD or LARPing. Yes it is good to see fantasy sports in the gambling industry but cricket noises are definitely going to be present because there aren't a lot of players as I have said earlier, I think that we should just focus our attention on what is currently on the table.

I think it is better to mention that depend on what gambling are you dealing mate , In this thread it is soccer/football that yeah can be used skills and Psychology but in other gambling games like Dice or Slots? maybe it is Luck that will make you win?
anyway we have our own believe and strategy and what i have is depend in which game i will play.
I don't think luck is the word when you mention dice, I would rather go for probability and statistics, we just can't comprehend the probability on where would the dice will land so we think that it is luck when there is a math behind everything. I do agree, we have our own ways to play and our belief also counts.
2538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Football Gambling System: A Betting Experiment on: March 01, 2021, 11:49:27 AM

That is normal because luck will only come to the right person, making many people can't win on many rounds. The result will vary for every people who use the same strategy. Perhaps, some people can win while others will lose as we don't know where the luck will come. If luck comes, people can win by using many strategies and not just the strategy from @OP. But the system is hard to work for many people as they still need luck to win the match. Perhaps, people need to experiment to see what strategy they can win, so they will know that every gambler's strategy will not be the same.
I don't believe in luck, I am more of a statistics and psychology person when it comes to gambling. Luck is just fancy term for probability and coincidence, they were just at the right place and at the right time. Humans are so obsessed with finding patterns and so am I and I think that if I believe in luck, that would mean that there is no pattern which is close to impossible. I believe that they should just analyze the game more in-depth but enough to not be obsessive about it, relying on luck is not a good thing.
2539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What games are best suitable for PvP gambling? on: March 01, 2021, 11:06:55 AM

For me these games also seem like a usual 1 vs 1 setup, which is the best for gambling and betting. Because you want to profit if your own skills not by someone elses. Having team games in a gambling scenario seems very difficult because you need to ensure that premade teams are only getting matched against other premade teams. In the end the outcome will depend a lot on your teammates. I definitely prefer 1 vs 1 games.
That was what I am saying in the original reply, but someone quoted that they aren't played by two players. I do agree with you about it being a good game for gambling because I know some of these games can be really good for gambling, and if it succeeds, it can even be a betting game where you can bet on which player wins, a 50/50 bet game if it is an unknown versus unknown players that they are going to bet on it.

billiards and the rest of the games that you offered can be played by more than two players but chess arent .
i think theres already chess with betting include but i forgot the link because it was shared by my fellow gamblers in the public chat long time ago .
What do you mean that Billiards and the other games except chess can be played by more than two players? I get that there can be a doubles in billiards and snooker but have you actually played those games that I have mentioned? I did a quick Google search as to how many players can play Go, Shogi, NBA2K and Checkers and the result is two players which is a good candidate for a PvP gambling. What makes you think that these games can be played by more than two?
