25221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 07, 2017, 06:31:04 AM
Distribution of bytes is finished.
Total distributed: 57,444.473272169 GB.  It's about $19m at the current rate.
New available supply: 583,896.4940036 GB.  Coinmarketcap is already updated.

I'll update when blackbytes are distributed, it is going to take about 3 days.
Thanks again Tony for your hard work!

(I now have to use two hands to count my balls.)
Phrases like this always make people frown when I talk about (as they hear it) "bite balls" Cheesy

To all Holders: tell people about Byteball: give them 100,000 bytes and 210000 blackbytes if they install the wallet (make a backup after sending blackbytes), chat with them, and spread the word. Byteball's potential is huge, all it needs now to grow is more users.

Received the correct amount of Bytes as per new rules. Do we have to backup the wallet every time after Black byte distribution as its not registered on the DAG and kept locally?
Yes. Think of Blackbytes as a post-it handed to you by the previous owner. The post-it says: "you are now the new owner". Together with handing you the post-it, the DAG registers that the previous owner is no longer the owner of these Blackbytes. The DAG does not register who received the post-it.
If you lose the post-it, you lose the blackbytes.

Read Byteball: Blackbytes FAQ for more.

I'll admit I haven't been following BB new as much as I was before the last airdrop but I'm certain I never saw any announcement "more than a whole full moon" ago about an intention to cancel the September airdrop here or on slack.
That's because September airdrop isn't canceled.
25223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 06, 2017, 03:56:31 PM
Interesting, I got airdrop for Bitcoin linked, but not the (much larger) airdrop for Bytes I'm holding yet. In previous airdrops those arrived together.

Once again the price drop is more than the airdrop Sad
25224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 06, 2017, 02:56:12 PM
These last minute rule changes are somewhat disturbing for building trust into this coin.
There are no "last minute" changes, changes are announced more than a whole full moon ahead.
25225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 06, 2017, 09:13:26 AM
Many news today.

1. We have our first cashback merchants:
Premiumize: Premium downloads, cloud torrents, and VPN.  They also accept payments in Bytes.
NODEshare: masternode as a service.  They also accept payments in Bytes and offer merchant match for large orders.
Other partners are at various stages, I'll announce them when launched.
Cashbacks will come from this address https://explorer.byteball.org/#TU3Q44S6H2WXTGQO6BZAGWFKKJCF7Q3W

2. We'll skip the October full moon.  We need more time to allow more merchants to join the cashback program and I want a larger share of the remaining undistributed coins to be used for acquiring new users.  Larger partners have large teams and need more time to make decisions and integrate.  The next distribution (after September 6) will be on the full moon of November (Nov 4, 2017), and the rules are the same as for September: +10% for Byte holders, 0.00625 GB/BTC for Bitcoin holders.

3. My long time partner Steve Safronov has joined our team and will take care of business development.  He was CEO in one of my previous businesses and helped to grow it manyfold and then sell.  His current focus will be helping solid real-world non-crypto projects raise funds through ICOs on Byteball platform, there are a number of projects already being prepared since August (still early stages).  He will be our 4th team member with committed time, he will be paid from the Community Fund, and I fully trust him to bring new business into Byteball.

Great decisions and good news Tony! As a Byteball holder, I don't need more airdrops as long as that only creates inflation and drops the price further.
In retrospect, it would have been most valuable to sell my Bytes the moment I received them. At each airdrop I got more, but the total value didn't go up anymore. Now I am holding them for sure, no point selling at undervalued price.
If you can manage to use the remaining bytes to spread awareness and increase the number of users, that will be much more valuable for current Byteball holders than just doubling the amount in our own wallets.

Most of current ICOs just use a made-up token with a made-up plan to raise money for nothing quickly. It wouldn't surprise me if most of them disappear again just as fast, after the creators ran with the money of course.
Your idea - using ICOs for real-world non-crypto projects, sounds like crowd funding to me, which is a growing market. This opens up many possibilities, but I can already see some difficulties: how to decide which project is trusted for instance. Or, say I invest 1 GBYTE worth $400 in a project that funds a restaurant. The restaurant makes a nice profit, and pays back $40 per year (a decent 10%) to investors each year. Now suppose a GBYTE is worth $4000 just 5 years from now, that means investing in this restaurant was a much worse choice than just holding on to my 1 GBYTE.
I do like the idea, and I do think Byteball needs it to grow real-life applications, so I'm very keen to see your implementation.
25226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 06, 2017, 06:38:27 AM
This address is used by Bittrex to send change to: QR542JXX7VJ5UJOZDKHTJCXAYWOATID2. It currently holds 32,882 GBYTE. It is linked in Transition Bot, so they'll get Blackbytes too.

I don't think that will be withdrawn the coming hour, so Bittrex receives just over a $1M in bytes in the next airdrop. That could even mean the price drop after the airdrop is caused by Bittrex itself selling their free bytes.
I really don't understand why a much bigger exchange like Poloniex doesn't add Byteball, they can earn millions from it.

Interesting. How do you know it is Bittrex?
Highlighted.

I always get this crap when I launch byteball, anyone has any ideas?

I had a newer version of NW.js but I removed it and I still see this.

I am using the latest version (1.10.1).
Make a backup and do this:

Linux users who upgrade from 1.10.0 will have to delete all files (but not subdirectories!) in ~/.config/byteball/Default in order to get rid of the annoying (but harmless) popup about profile format.  This is because we had to revert to an older version of nwjs to address one issue https://github.com/byteball/byteball/issues/201Backup before deleting.

Mac and Linux users please upgrade.

Thank you guitarplinker and Rollin! I have been in this signature campaign for about a year and a half, I started at a Full Member without many posts, I'm close to Legendary now. I think I earned about 1 Bitcoin in total from my posts.
Thanks Smiley

If you want to transfer your bytes from one address to the other one within the same wallet (back to the linked address, for the airdrop), would you do it just as you would do it for transfer it to an external address ?
Yes. Just Send to your own address, then history will show "Moved".
25231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Kraken refuses to support ETH/EOS on: September 03, 2017, 11:38:07 AM
They just havent coded an automised process. You can see the EOS laying on their wallet which only they have access too. They dont have the right to keep my coins without service in return.
I don't know the legal status of "a token". But extra coding to fix customer's mistakes costs money without any return.
25232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Kraken refuses to support ETH/EOS on: September 03, 2017, 06:45:52 AM
I don't know about kraken, but for comparison: Bittrex specifically says they won't return any coins they don't support. Other mistakes (for example sending Bitcoin to a Bitcoin Cash address) can only be fixed for deposits above $5000, at a 0.1 BTC fee.

I can imagine why they don't want to do this: every day new tokens are literally created out of thin air. If people randomly send them to their addresses, it takes a lot of manual effort to sort it out.
It also shows the bubble-level of hundreds of ICOs: people buying it have no idea what they're doing.
25233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rollin.io is reliable. on: September 02, 2017, 08:08:09 PM
I didn't want to respond to this guy anymore, but since he drags my name in, here it is.

I've been hosting Giveaway Contests for Rollin.io on Bitcointalk for more than a year, and I have literally blacklisted hundreds of accounts. The current strict Rules and my self-moderated thread stopped most of the spam/cheaters, so lately I've had barely anyone to blacklist.

Especialista was the exception: he got caught, and can't accept that. Instead, he keeps asking me the same things over and over again (turns out he wanted to make screenshots now).
We have a pile of evidence, although I see no reason to share that in public. I have seen all excuses before, "we're family" is just one of many.

A summary of the relevant Rules from the Giveaway:
2. Only use one account per person, one entry per day allowed.

4. Anybody who has been blacklisted for any other giveaway (including HiLoGames) will be rejected here. Just don't cheat Sad

8. We reserve the right to change this giveaway at any moment, and to exclude people from the giveaway if we feel we need to do so.

IF you don't like the rules, don't join. Complaining about getting blacklisted when you've been caught cheating is just sad.
Spreading the same story in several threads too.
25234  Economy / Services / Re: Pretty Addy Giveaway - part 2 on: September 02, 2017, 07:31:12 PM
It's been awhile since I ask for a Vanity address and I'm here again since I lost my phone where all of my private keys have been saved.  Hope you can help me out once again. Thanks for your service.
I hope you didn't lose money in the addresses. Next time, make more than one (encrypted) backup! A BIP38 paper wallet is a very safe way to keep a backup.

181 RollPoints have been earned. That brings the value to $2.76 per RollPoint.
Nobody found any mistakes in the spreadsheet, so it's pay day!

* $500 at the moment this Contest is paid. The total amount in Bitcoin depends on the actual Bitcoin price at the start of September.
Now let's convert $500 to mBTC:
Quote
ChatBot  BTC/USD last trade price according to bitcoinaverage.com: $4791.04 | Today: $-151.14 (-3.06%)
ChatBot  500 usd = 104.36000 mbtc

End result: 1 RollPoint is worth $2.76 which is worth 0.57657 mBTC. That means I can even tip the people with 1 RollPoint (minimum tip is 0.5 mBTC).

This is the final tip list:

Code:
/tip maksosip 12.68454

25236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Old paper wallet... is my Bitcoin Cash safe ?? on: September 01, 2017, 09:28:17 PM
If I'm not worried about bitcoin cash failing then I can't see any reason to transfer it now, is there ?
If you split them now, you make it easier to sell your Bitcoin Cash when you want to, without having to move your Bitcoins first (for security). If you're not planning on using either Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash for years, there's no need to change anything.
25237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 01, 2017, 11:11:55 AM
I understand.

So, you can try to resolve this a couple of ways as I suggested.

Send everything you can to a new wallet
or
Send me your backup, I fix it, send it back.  (Then do the first suggestion so that I no longer have access to your bytes).

Thanks to Michail. He recovered my corrupted byteball wallet and also recovered 14 GBB out of 17 GBB for me.He is a trusted asset to the community here. Cheesy
Michail/ChainSmoker: can you explain how you recovered it?
25238  Economy / Services / Re: I'm sharing 0.00025* BTC per Bitcoin you own by signing a message [about end on: September 01, 2017, 11:04:06 AM
Three people took the opportunity to speculate: I'll sell their share on September 1. I'm curious to see how this turns out for the price, especially since the Byteball airdrop distribution method is changed from next month.
Pay day! Unfortunately, GBYTE dropped even further than right after the airdrop this month Sad
I now sold at 88.00943 mBTC per GBYTE. I think it's up in dollars, but down in Bitcoins.
One person requested his payment 8 days ago (as a tip on Rollin.io), that leaves 2 to pay now: Paid!.

September 6th is the next airdrop, unfortunately it only airdrops 1/10th of what it used to do to Bitcoin holders, so it's barely worth it anymore. I will end the "25 days delay" option. From the looks of it I'll have to pay about 2.5 mBTC only in total, so I'll do that at once after the airdrop.
This airdrop effectively ended, but I don't want to keep the few mBTCs it still airdrops from people who got their addresses linked to myself, so I keep sharing that amount.

It was fun while it lasted, thank you all for joining! Meanwhile, Byteball continues adding features and Bots. It now supports sports betting, flight delay insurance, blackbytes trading, and more. Many features that other coins just promise are already included and working. I can recommend to try it, if you talk to me I'll send you a few bytes and black bytes to play with.

Anyone not got their waves like me? wanting to invest into JDS - comms aren't great though
Yes, despite about 6 reminders and promises in return, I never received it. I find it peculiar that mainly Newbies say they received the airdrop.

Daily Quest ended
Thank you all for joining!

181 RollPoints have been earned. That brings the value to $2.76 per RollPoint.

August 22 Quest ended
For 1, 3 or 5 RollPoints: Guess how much a rollpoint will worth (in dollars) at the end of the Contest (when it's paid at the beginning of September). Closest 3 predictions win 5, 3 or 1 RollPoints. Thanks to tjorge for this suggestion.
Winners of Quest 22 are:
#1 maksosip (prediction $2.72)
#2 bellakem (prediction $2.46)
#3 pimpollo (prediction $2.35)

Please check your entries in the spreadsheet. If I missed anything, please let me know within 24 hours. I will pay all winners tomorrow.
