Yes that was a very lame interview and comments...overly simplistic. You have been able to purchase hard assets with Bitcoins for years and there are many other virtual currencies where you can do that, just not as widely. This is a story for noobs...and those who can't comprehend anything but the most simple explanations.
The good thing is many people just need to be made aware of the options and simple media attention helps the general public know that big money is turning their attention at Bitcoin.

I am not a fan of Gox. Don't trust it, read too many bad things... so, what options are there? Please help me out, I will update the OP to be an up to date reference. If you know more about any of these sites or can explain better, post and I will try to keep the OP as accurate as possible.
**I am personally trying to buy some more bitcoins on our current discount sale, if there is a way to do so with Ca$h or credit, or instantly with a bank wire please let me know. I would rather not wait 3-4 days for my money to be available.
BTCTC Site .............how you can fund your account
Bitinstant Currently allowing funds to MtGox or to a wallet, doesn't allow to wallet if gox is down **When gox was down, will only send funds to a MTGOX account (so they must send btc out of a gox account) BTC-E HAS VISA & PAYPAL LOGO, can you fund with these? if so I don't see an option to do so. BTC-E Codes (can you get these instantly for cash anywhere?) OKPAY ** (which doesn't accept USD) Bitinstant (which will only send funds to MTGOX) interkassa- not in English. I have a google translated page up, but haven't fine tooth combed it, ???anyone familiar with interkassa? Do they take USD, or credit cards as payment? Do they send bitstamp codes?
BitStamp Needs to be funded by bitstamp code
Vircurex funded through vouchX which is through AurumXchange
Aurum Exchange- you can't wire funds until account is verified (I will update with how long my verification takes)
bitcoin-24.com - SEPA Bank wire (1-2 days)
localbitcoins.com
Bitfloor takes cash deposits at Bank of America branches (in theory, I cant get their site open)
Money transfer Sites
Dwolla- Can wire funds with verified account, takes 3-4 days (in writing, not confirmed yet)
Interkassa- not in English. I have a google translated page up, but page is not english. Anyone know the deal? I am not comfortable making a financial transaction in a language I don't know, so this is out for me.
Aurum Exchange- you can't wire funds until account is verified (I will update with how long my verification takes)
** Is there anywhere that you can buy bitcoin or codes/vouchers with paypal or visa?
** What main sites am I missing? (I know there are a bunch)
Feel free to add, correct etc.....I will update
Thanks S.D.

A billion wiped is a success? What company in their right mind would accept such a currency?? Bitcoin from here is a ponzi scheme until prices go to where they should be, circa 15$ and stabilize. you do know that btc is to be used for trade and not speculation.. store of value will come with supply and demand. Work to secure the network is going to be needed even if BTC is worth $1 or $1000.

Many are bashing Mt.Gox, but there are two sides to a story. Mt.Gox has been a powerful force for good concerning Bitcoin. Bitcoin is experiencing exponential growth, something we knew could happen, but with too much centralization i.e. pressure on Gox we find weakness that affects everyone. The market will sort this out but as a community we can help (not least because we mostly are the market). Apparently new exchanges are being planned but we can immediately help by simply supporting and recommending other exchanges. I'm guilty too. Although I have accounts with multiple exchanges when it comes to serious trading I look first to Mt.Gox. That should change. It may be inconvenient, but fairly easy to look to other exchanges first. If we all do this, and recommend it to others, we will rapidly shift that monstrous 80% of all BTC trading that occurs with one exchange, to the increasing detriment of us all. Two great exchanges that come to mind are BitStamp.net and CampBX.com, both of which to my knowledge having never had a security incident. Cavirtex.com is a solid Exchange that I have been using

I received another 5 units today. Which puts me at exactly 1/2 of my total order. Avalon is not a scam or any such thing, I just think Chinese customs is very slow and it takes time to get all of the boxes out of the country. Avalon we love you ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) was that all from batch 1?

To be fair... Show of hands, how many of you here were looking at $260 prices, and wishing you could buy cheaper coins? ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I managed to get a few more people into Bitcoin. Now that the price is lower it makes adoption a little more palatable. Consulting can be difficult but one on one training is the best for adoption. I find it works best when I work with people directly on this topic.

You can add Cavirtex.com to that list. These guys AKA Jacob works hard and long, his fees are wild, I think I started at like 3 or 3.5%. I've traded over 1100 BTC on there in the last 2 months so I am now on the 1.5% tear about to drop to 1%. Anyways, if you dont mind paying the fees its a real good option. Once you break that 2500 BTC 120 day Volume your fees are good. And they also had an IPO.

I am not sure if this has been answered however.
Is there some way to increase the fan speed on the units?

Never sell a bitcoin for USD!! SPEND IT on things or service or commodities.
+1000 I've never understood the logic in selling bitcoins. Save up and buy a house or a car or other big ticket items ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
