Looking at the server log, nothing out of the ordinary. Think it is our local ISP as other sites are loading slow as well.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the website? It appears we may be getting DDOS'd or are slammed with real traffic.

Hi Digibyte devs and community,

I'm interested in setting up a digibyte block explorer over the course of the next few days/weeks, as time permits. This is my first time so it might take a while (or not don't really know yet)

What say you, the people of DGB?

Too late, look at http://altexplorer.net/

I know this, but I'm talking about a dedicated properly skinned explorer (gonna need help with the last part)
We are all open to another block explorer, the more the merrier. We had it on our development plan, but if you were to get one up we could focus more on the Android wallet/ QR code/ light weight wallet.

Just Posted this to the front page:

NOTE: There will be no more large DigiByte Giveaways over 1,000 DGB. This is in an effort to begin building value of the coin, protecting the miners who are making the network strong and to use the remaining funds for development of the coin. We have met our goal of getting DGB in the hands of over 1,000 people worldwide in the first few days. Let the trading begin.

Thank you - appreciate it a lot! By the way, I would love to see you in IRC from time to time. Smiley
Will check it out tomorrow, need to get some more sleep as it is the middle of the night here at the moment. Thanks again for your concern, as it is a valid point and important for DigiByte's succes!

The past giveaway will be the last one that high. We did that to get DGB into the hands of over 1,000 people in the first few days. We have achieved that and will now start using the rest for incentives for merchants & developers. We realize for DGB to get on an exchange we cannot undermine the coins value. We also realize larger giveaways from this point forward will be a dis-service to the miners behind the network as several of them have mentioned it to us. Now let the trading begin!
2567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: January 14th - Today's list of Shit and Scam Coins --- Ed. 1 on: January 15, 2014, 04:28:12 AM
Almost half of the pre-mine for DigiByte has been given away now to over 1,000 accounts. Anyone reading this thread can read about it here and download a log of giveaways. http://www.digibyte.co/pre-mine-accounts

Our plan is to giveaway half of the pre-mine making it a 0.25% pre-mine within the first week of the coins life.  This allows the coin to be spread among thousands of people. More importantly among people with something to give to the community who do not own a giant hash farm in their basement.

Giveaways from a giveaway increase coin adoption very rapidly.

More Giveaways are to come. More development to come.

For instance the first DigiBytes were just sent from a pc to a Android wallet and back tonight.

Cheers,

The DigiByte Team

DigiByte Sneak Peak:

We just successfully sent DGB from a PC to a wallet and back on an android phone! This fits in perfectly with a big announcement we will make in the coming weeks about a service that will allow you to walk into a store and purchase goods with your DigiBytes!

But let's get on some exchanges first!
2569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] - A Professional Cryptocurrency ✈ Now Launched!! ✔ on: January 15, 2014, 02:04:05 AM
I sent an email over to the guys at https://coin-horse.com about adding DigiByte to their list, no reply as of yet but if I do get one I'll paste it here. It's not the busiest betting site but it would be a nice start Smiley Maybe one of the dev's could also shoot of an email if they have a spare minute.

If I could code up and design my own betting site I'd be doing that but its a bit too far above my league unfortunately.
Loving this coin and I can see big things for the future
Awesome, thank you for taking the time to do that! DGB sent!

Note to everyone, we are going to take a few hours off and get back on this in the morning. It has been a long few days and some r&r is in order. If we do not respond right away to this thread or PM's please do not think we are ignoring you. See you all tomorrow!

Here is proof we have given away over 37 million of the pre-mine and plan on giving more over the next couple days!

Excel log download of over 1200 Transactions Exported from DigiByte -qt:
http://www.digibyte.co/sites/digibyte.co/files/crypto/1_14_2014_DigiByte_Giveaways.csv

Here are some facts to those still doubting a 0.5% (which is almost down to a (.25%) Pre-mine:
1) Giveaways create wallet downloads: DGB is now in over 1000 - 2000 wallets in just over two days of launch. (10,000 hits on the website)

2) The pre-mine has allowed us to bring on other developers as we can give them incentive to work on the project.

3) It is more fair. There are many talented people within the community that do not have a huge mining farm in their garage. By giving coins to them you are bringing someone on board that would never have the ability to mine many coins otherwise.

4) Launching a successful coin is expensive. Before launch we had sunk several hundred dollars into the coin. This does not include the thousands of dollars in time we have spent in this past month that we could of been working on something else, spending time with our families etc.

5) We as developers have incentive to stick around and work on this coin and not go create another one like so many other devs have done. Like stated before this is our first and only coin we plan on working on. We all have full time jobs as well. Since this launched it has become an around the clock project.

That's great news!

Regarding the bounty on merchant who will accept DGB - I could talk with my partner to accept DGB as payment for our services (graphic and book cover design) - miniGRAFIK.com
Will that be good enough for the reward? Smiley

Although, since there is no API (yet), how could we implement it (e-commerce wise)? Will the notice about our company accepting DigiByte (banner or blog post) and our DGB address on the website be ok with you?
That will suffice. Starting off with a wallet is the first step. Payment gateway under discussion.

Everyone please take note of the Xtra Pool. Several users have reported this pool was the only other pool they had registered on when there account was hacked and coins stolen. USE WITH CAUTION & CHANGE PASSWORDS

Someone also tried to break into BitcoinTate's account. The only other other pool he had registered with was Xtra Pool. Issue's have also been noted with this pool provider in other coin threads. At this point there is no definitive proof so it will not be de-listed. But please CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS

When do you expect DigiByte will hit the exchanges?
Hopefully 4-8 days after launch.

Please use a different password at each pool. It does appear there is some attack going on by another pool operator as I myself (BitcoinTate) have had someone try and break into my mining account. I am not pointing any fingers yet. But if it is discovered, the pool will be removed immediately from list and will recommend everyone stop using that pool.

Take the drive out, wrap it in paper towels, put it in an air tight plastic bag and throw it in the freezer for 20 minutes. Used to work all the time for us when I worked at Geek Squad several years ago. Long enough to get some data off. Smiley
How did you guys figure that out initially? Cheesy Good to know.

Another trick: If the failure happened after a shutdown and cold boot...
Remove the disk, place it on a flat surface, give it a quick sudden rotation, refit, reboot... (helps when the disk bearing is worn and the friction doesn't allow it to spin up all the time)
Not quite sure, electronics just seem to work better in colder temperatures.
