Its better to buy coins and have less graphics cards at this point because some good altcoins are 80% down, here is what I did, I sold half of their entire mining rigs I have and bought some good altcoins when BTC went down to 17500$ and I am already in profit, I bought Optimism, Alephzero, seedify(3x already).
I also got lucky in the beginning. Only I also lost profits in trading. I bought ethereum for $1100 but don't know when to sell yet. If you have earned X3, then maybe you should now take the initial capital to buy video cards back. In September there will be good prices.

It doesn't matter which motherboard you buy, all you need is a working mobo is with enough pcie slots available ,either new or old it doesn't matter, I believe you should worry more about the hashrate you will get and how much electricity bill you will be paying.
In fact, not all modern motherboards are good for mining. Why do you need these problems with BIOS settings and forums?
Mining motherboards work out of the box and have a convenient USB interface for connecting raisers, which helps beginners avoid mistakes when connecting a PСI-е adapter.
https://aliexpress.ru/popular/b75-motherboard-mining.html
And most importantly, these motherboards are cheap.

I didn't know Galax to be from Hong Kong as I always see the cards listing from Japan every time I look at ebay and they offer the highest possible price for a card for example the Rtx 3060 in the link below. That has been my point of confusion and that I have seen always with the price tag there, beside that I also owned one at it performed extremely well.Really surprised that Palit owns all these brands and I thought Palit to be an average brand for the Nvidia cards, most probably I should be buying only Palit cards from now on.

Sure 928 dollars is a huge prize for a 3060 right now

https://www.ebay.com/itm/284884634601?hash=item4254728be9:g:Wo8AAOSw1IZiZXLb

I have also seen the same fans both in Gainward 1060 cards that I owned before and the same in Palit versions but I never thought they to be made by the same company.
What kind of joke is this? $1200 for Japanese quality under the Palit brand. Maybe the seller forgot to look at the prices of analogues on the market. Before the start of sales of the 4000 series, it is better to quickly sell the 3000 series.

Welcome to EthereumPoW
The original Proof of Work Ethereum initiated in July 2022, developed and run by community, the technology that powers the cryptocurrency ETHW and thousands of decentralized applications.

So its real? I just made a topic on this because its in IOU not the real thing, how come a fork existed before the merge actually happens or there is going to be a swap of this IOU for the real coins? Sigh, crypto space with too much drama.
These futures are already traded on some exchanges. News about this coin is getting popular.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum-pow/
I plan to only mine this coin and immediately sell if it is profitable. I am not involved in trading.
2565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Avoid getting scammed miners on: August 10, 2022, 11:38:13 AM
Be careful out there miners, I went to coinmarketcap this morning and I noticed that ETHPoW ( IOU ) is already listed and trading on MXC and Poloniex and this coin has 10 million dollars volume available..

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum-pow/

I believe this is nothing but a shit ethereum because the merge is still far away, forks don't happen before the countdown
ETHPoW ( IOU ) are futures. When Ethereum owners can get their coins and send them to exchanges, the price of this coin will fall.
The price was around 125 dollars and has already dropped to 73. If the price does not fall much, then we can still mine this coin

However, the researchers also noted that the vulnerability may be solved after Ethereum transitions to proof-of-stake (POS) after the upcoming Merge on Sept. 19, which utilizes a different set of consensus rules.
"An obvious mitigation technique which will solve both this attack and any other PoW-related one, is to migrate Ethereum’s consensus mechanism to proof-of-stake (PoS)."   Grin

2568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bye-bye to LHR? on: August 10, 2022, 11:18:03 AM
I don't know if this is true or not but those who bought GPU recently will know, I heard that new RTX 3060ti and normal 3060s aren't LHR anymore, is the LHR thing lifted after the unlock? Someone in China told me this, trying to confuse me to forget the LHR part though, what do you say friends.?
RTX 3060ti LHR and RTX 3060ti are the same in mining. Miners do an excellent job of unlocking. But the RTX 3060ti was released at the very beginning of sales and is older than the RTX 3060ti LHR version. The RTX 3060 12 GB had some problems with unlocking on some algorithms, so study about them in the announcements of the miner programs.
2569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Efficiency vs. Hashrate on: August 10, 2022, 11:10:42 AM
I would not overclock the video card because of a few megahash. The lower the memory frequency, the longer the video card will work stably. The lower the power consumption, the lower the temperature on the chip and memory of the video card. If you are going to mine cryptocurrency on these video cards for 3-5 years, do not use high overclocking.
2570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3050 mining on: August 10, 2022, 11:03:19 AM
I am looking for RTX 3050 mining performance, is anyone using this graphic card for mining any crypto coin at all.

It has the same performance of a AMD Rx 470/480/570/580 for most` of the coins that this card is able to mine profitably, sometimes with a nice Bios mod the Rx versions do like near 3 Mhsh more than this card in Ethash and Etchash algorithms. This clearly means that this is one of the worst cards for mining nowadays and even when it first came so it was,and it mostly geared toward gamers.

For just 50-100 dollars more than the price of the 3050 you can buy the 3060 card which makes almost double the performance compared to this card.
Now in my country, 470/480 8 GB video cards are sold for $160. Video cards 570/580 from $200 because they are newer. 4GB versions cost about $100 and even a little cheaper. But there are less than 40 days left. In China, new 3060 Ti video cards cost from $500.
2571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good price for normal 1660 or not on: August 07, 2022, 03:25:12 PM
I sold my 1660 that gives 25MH for 230$ each, is this a good price for this card or I am throwing away money? I bought at 300$ and I have made half of the money already, I just feel like its the right time to start buying coins direct.

Most likely is the right time to buy more efficient cards then buy coins directly. The best deals now come RTX 3060 12 GB at 49 Mhsh for just 350 dollars or a bit more and the RTX 3060 ti at 61 Mhsh for 400 dollars or a bit more. These cards perform really well in a lot of algorithms so even when Ethereum mining ends you still have a lot of possibilities to continue mining.

To me your buy of 1660 it does not look a good deal but hey it depends on where you got it and what you made out of it.
I think that if the developers do not change their minds about launching a new network on September 19, then the best prices will be after this date.
That's why I'm not in a hurry to buy video cards, because there are about 40 days left. And there are no new coins for mining yet.

This is a weak video card for mining, it is better to look at more productive models.
2573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the best source for accurate Whitepapers on alt-coins on: August 06, 2022, 02:27:24 PM
Anyone who has been mining for a long time knows that many useless coins are constantly appearing. There are more than 20,000 cryptocurrencies on the coinmarketcap, but in reality there are many more cryptocurrencies. Any technical document can be redone so that it does not look like plagiarism. But the number of useful coins will not increase.

This is a good market price. These video cards after mining are sold for an average of $ 220-250 per piece. After the completion of Ethereum mining, the price of this video card will decrease even more. Some miners buy these graphics cards, but I would prefer more powerful GPUs, such as 2060 super or 2070.
2575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Loan + Mining farm on: August 06, 2022, 02:12:26 PM
Right now is the worst possible time to do this. I don't think you could of found any worse time than now. First of all interest rates are rising and loans of any type will be expensive. Especially given this isn't a mortgage or even a car and there is no colleratal and its unsecured.

Second in a few weeks, ETHEREUM will move to POW and tons of the miner revenue will be gone. Farms will be shutdown. There will be little to no money to be made. You can switch to Bitcoin ASICs but many large farms will do the same. Just forget this idea.

While this can be a scenario I don't prefer to think this tragically. If we think this way it looks like only Ethereum mining is profitable when in fact Ethereum mining is right now the most profitable but there are tons of other coins that are profitable.Even if all the ETH hash rate point to this coins it will distribute at a much higher rate at the next most profitable coins, number 2 and 3 now but then it will leave other coins profitable for people to mine without problems.

Mining will continue with ETH or without it as this has been the case since early days, just because ETH used to be the most profitable coin to mine does not mean that there will be no more profitable coins to mine.
I am very worried about ASICs in the Ethereum blockchain. Then it will go to mine Ethereum Classic and we will lose another coin for mining. And the rest of the coins cannot give a good profit to such a large number of video cards. Mining will not die, but the number of miners will decrease.

Hello from 2022.

Thanks for this informative post. I'm just setting up a rig using these cards and this has been helpful.

I saw you have your own bios, do you make this available for others, or have another you recommend? I'm having a surprisingly difficult time finding one.
Many modern miners give excellent results without flashing the BIOS of these video cards
Look at this sample made by safar1980

For 2 years, miner developers have perfectly optimized their software for these video cards.
2577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW EthereumPoW on: August 06, 2022, 01:58:58 PM
I would just wait for the last test and a new call from the developers. They say that there is a risk of stopping the blockchain after switching to a new algorithm. I make good money on mining and I lost some of the money in various investments, so it’s better to do what works best.
2578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Galaxy 3090 or gaming x trio ? on: August 05, 2022, 05:58:03 PM
Since when did Galax become a Japanese brand?
KFA2/Galax is a Chinese company based in Hong Kong.
In Japan, their brand name is Galakuro. In my country, this company is known under the KFA2 brand and these are not the highest quality video cards.

ETHPoW vs ETH2

"Merge Trading Strategy

As ever with these potentially contentious chain splits, the Ethereum merge provides an exciting trading opportunity. A possible “risk free” trading idea is as follows:

Before the merge, convert all your USD into USDc in your own Ethereum wallet
As soon as the merge occurs, sell your USDc on the ETHPoW chain for ETHPoW coins on an onchain decentralised exchange such as UniSwap or Curve
As soon centralised exchanges enable ETHPoW deposits, sell all your ETHPoW for USD
Profit!
"

https://blog.bitmex.com/ethpow-vs-eth2/

And what happens when ETHpow doesnt get listed on any real exchange…..

You are pushing this ethpow like it is anything but a zero value coin.  Currently its price is $0.

Ive saved this thread so we can review after the eth merge how wrong (or right) you are.

My bet is you are completely wrong.
This is an article from the crypto exchange bitmex.com blog.
This coin will be traded on several exchanges, according to the announcements. I am only interested in this coin for mining if the profit is higher than on other coins. But I do not think that its price will be higher than the price of Ethereum Classic.

I can't find GTX 1660 super for 200$ online, if you can get them for the price I think its good enough compare to 300$ that's been sold for in my country, don't care about the memory since Ethereum is already going away, with 6GB memory you are going to keep mining ETC and others for years to come.
Look at these sites

$200 is the wholesale price if you take several dozen video cards. But I think that in a month these video cards will cost even less. For $200 just a used graphics card.
