2581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help! I Lost Bitcoins on: January 26, 2014, 06:31:28 AM
Hello,
so i earned some bit coins through a simple task and earned about 15 dollars worth so i had it on my vircurex wallet because that is what i have been using so then i sent it to gyft and i was a tiny bit short of money from getting a 15 dollar gift card so i clicked out and i tried to get my bit coins back or anything and there was nothing. i was as if my money disappeared. I know 15 dollars isn't that much but i wanna be using this in the future and wanna be safe and know. So does anyone know how to get my money back? it would really help Smiley
Thanks,
        Matt

So, you have withdrawn your bitcoin from vircurex to the Gyft deposit address, right?
Have you contact Gyft for support yet? https://gyft.wufoo.com/forms/gyft-support/
2582  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Who the hell is this?.... on: January 26, 2014, 06:23:34 AM
This doesn't seem like too bad of a pool; I signed up and the nice thing is you can use the same pool for both litecoin and bitcoin; you end up being paid for for your average mining hashrate for the previous 20 minutes of mining.  They are parallel mining BTC, LTC, FTC, CNC, and USC.  PPS mining with only a 4% fee on both BTC and LTC mining.
?
Where did you sign up? What's the website of that discus fish pool?
And on what hardware are you mining BTC and LTC in paralel?

Maybe he has accidentally posted in a wrong thread?
2583  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Cloud Hashing / Commodity Hashing - Why bother? Isn't hardware cheaper? on: January 26, 2014, 06:12:20 AM
Does anyone know if there is there a way for me to "sell" my GHs as a commodity on CEX.IO and turn a faster profit than pool mining?

If people are allowed to sell their own hashrate, all miners should do so lol.

Take a look at how much 1 GH/s can give you, and compare it with the crazy GH/s price. Cheesy

2584  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What the heck just happened to the hashrate? on: January 26, 2014, 06:08:19 AM
Pre ordered miners that the buyers will not see for months are in 'testing' mode.

The manufactures need to do "extensive" testing until the units are stable enough / until mining with those units is no longer profitable Tongue
2585  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Difference between "finding" and "solving" a block? on: January 26, 2014, 05:58:58 AM
Just as the above persons mentioned, the two words are just the same.

Some people don't understand the bits of joy a computer geek gets when playing with hardware.  Number porn is awesome!

lol.
I always wonder why eleuthria doesn't need to sleep at all.
And now I know he have been having 24/7 orgasm with number porn. Tongue
2586  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Plans for mining? READ THIS FIRST !! on: January 26, 2014, 05:48:30 AM
they said the  btc exchange fee can be provided to miners, is it right?

You mean bitcoin transaction fee, right?
If so, the answer is yes.
When miners find a block, they can the block reward (currently 25btc) + tx fees (for all tx included in that block).
2587  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hi I am new to Bitcoins on: January 26, 2014, 05:45:28 AM
I would like to earn (by Mining) 0.05 BTC a week. (I'm aware that the value of bitcoins changes every hour) I'm able to spend around $500-$1,000 in Mining Hardware. I don't want to start Trading or Buying them (Yet)

To earn BTC0.05/week you need 40Ghs at current difficulty

And, to maintain 0.05btc/week, you need to get more and more hardware after each difficulty adjustment (~ every 12-13 days).
2588  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: what's the most efficient mining hardware available? (bachelor thesis) on: January 26, 2014, 05:39:34 AM
I know that mining is not profitable at all due to rising difficulty caused by "mining-noobs", losing a lot of their money.

If the block reward exceed the cost in electricity and roi is impossible then will some miners (with lower hashrate = lower probability to find the block) shut down, and then will the difficulty go down, and then will roi be possible for others. The system will self-adjust to a level where there is a profit for the miners.

You won't see this happen in the next few years. Because most miners dont think rational like that. They think like: Bitcoin is going to rise in value, so it makes sense to mine. But they don't see that their revenue would be significantly higher by a direct investment in btc.

I think you are underestimating the intelligence levels of miners... Sure you can find single cases that support your statement, but the majority of the network is commercial now.

I am sure there are irrational miners out there, but I don't most miners are irrational.
However, I am quite sure it is not just a few single cases.

For example, if you take a look at cex.io, you will find people buying 1 GH/s mining contract for 0.043+ btc.
And, the GH/s price is pretty stable even after the difficulty readjustment.
2589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I do mining with a normal PC? on: January 26, 2014, 05:26:40 AM
Hello, Can I do mining with a normal PC? I have an i3!

2590  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallet Clients without hefty fees? on: January 26, 2014, 05:17:18 AM
Thank you guys for the info, Unfortunately, I dint know this would be a risk, I wanted to send 60 BTC with zero fees, I guess its better.

With 60BTC, the tx is very likely a high priority one. (FYI: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees)
If so, you can send it without any fee using any popular clients like bitcoin-qt or Electrum.
The tx will probably take a longer time to get included in a block though.

I already sent it with a 0.020 TX fee, Because I was scared, and that was a long time ago, I noticed I wasent getting fast replies lol.

I didn't notice your thread was created 20 days ago lol. Cheesy
2591  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.5 BTC/month to Advertise Bit777 & Peerbet! on: January 26, 2014, 04:59:15 AM
Do we by any chance have to have a special account other than a bitcoin address
to be a part of this?

You can chose to have your payment to your address or your Bit777/Peerbet account.

Payment: 0.0001 per post to address / 0.0002 per post to Bit777/Peerbet account / With a max payout of 0.5btc

2593  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backing up wallet on: January 25, 2014, 08:02:07 PM
After switching off the bitcoin-qt completely, copy and paste the wallet.dat file to your destination.
Of course, you can further encrypt the file using TrueCrypt or archive software such as 7zip.

2594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cex.io mining on: January 25, 2014, 07:52:52 PM
Whenever I add up the numbers on cex.io I can never make it seem a viable option, doesn't seem profitable.

And that is the exact reason why the site is selling you hashrate instead of mining bitcoin directly. Cheesy

Guys, you should really stay away from gox...

Yeah, no shit. Somebody please link me to where somebody has said something positive about using mt gox, because I haven't seen any.

I can't really understand why mtgox is still in business.
Why would you sell your bitcoin there if you need to wait for months for your USD?
Why would you buy your bitcoin there if you are paying 100+ USD more for each btc?

2598  Other / Meta / Re: What does it take to go from Newbie to Jr Member status? Number of posts? on: January 25, 2014, 07:42:37 PM
Just curious, what does it take to go from Newbie to Jr Member status?  Is it measured on your number of posts or hours logged in the forum?  I like this forum, there are some pretty smart people and lots of good advice, I don't post much so just don't want to be a newbie forever since I don't make that many posts..

Regards,

CH

Membergroups here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423995.0

Exactly.
You now need 30 activity to be jr member.

The way activity is calculated can be found here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

There is NO newbie jail now.
You just need to wait for 6 minutes after login, and everyone (including those with 0 post) can make their post on any board.
its mean we have new rules and new policy and still I don't no about this  Sad

FYI: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423995.0
New users can now immediately start posting unless they are using suspicious IPs. Suspicious IPs are ones that have been banned previously, or are known proxies, or are near many banned/proxy IPs. If you register using a suspicious IP, you can use most forum features (watchlist, etc.), but you can't post or send PMs until you pay a small fee. In almost all cases, the fee is less than $1. People proxybanned in this way can also be whitelisted by the usual people who can do whitelisting. These IP bans apply only to registration: you can no longer get caught by random IP bans if you're using an established account.

The Newbies section is now an archived section. You can move posts from it, but nothing else can be posted there.

The patrol page acts kind of like a "virtual newbies section". It shows only posts by newbies, no matter where the posts are located. It also keeps track of which posts are new since the last time you've visited the patrol page. If you want to help out, please look for spam on the patrol page. There's an option in your settings to put a "Patrol" link near "Watchlist".

Additionally, membergroup limits are changed:

Full Memberactivity: 120
