COMM looks interesting. I like the distribution model. Seems like the team has covered their bases!
COMM FTW!

the PoS maturity time really needs to change on this coin. At a current rate of 365 days for maturity, the PoS is essentially useless, especially if you want this coin to be adopted as a currency where ppl are moving money in and out, thereby resetting the coin-age to zero...

why can't the wallet have an option to only be unlocked for staking but not allow for any transactions to be SENT? then ppl could leave their wallets unlocked to stake without worry of being stolen.
Good point we will try ask rar4 for that feature.Something like transaction password block That is already in there. I have mine unlocked and can't send transactions without entering my pass. that's great news! do you enter the unlock command in the console, or select the Unlock Wallet option from the Settings menu?

What about vertcoin vs DRK then. DRK is not a pump and dump and will offer complete anonymity via DarkSend. Not bashing VTC as I am holding some, but I also hold DRK. Just trying to figure out what would be better to invest more in and why. And while we're at it, what about VTC vs UTC. UTC has wicked fast confirmation times compared to the 2.5min of VTC, and also offers asic resistance via scrypt-jane.
I'm not going to attempt to provide investment advice to you, however here's a couple of points for consideration: 1. True untraceability is not attractive to a mainstream audience, and IMO will lead to significant resistance from powerful, well funded organizations should DRK have a chance of becoming mainstream. I don't know much about DRK tbh so I can't really comment much on it, but as I understand it DRK is non-premined and attempts to do innovative things in which case I applaud that - I'm not bashing it at all, but I am strongly of the opinion that strong anonymity and mainstream adoption are mutually exclusive. 2. UTCs fast confirmations are not advantageous - there are various issues with very short block times, not least of which is the way in which they encourage centralisation of hashing power. Decentralisation is the entire basis for the security of a blockchain, if you discourage it in your parameters, you implicitly ask for a network that can't protect as much value. Thanks for the responses. Can you explain though why/how short block times encourage centralization of hashing power? I don't understand this statement. Thanks!

in terms of the influx of asics now and in the near future, what is the difference between vertcoin and an X11 coin like Hirocoin? I know this is a vertcoin thread, but what is the reason behind supporting vertcoin over hirocoin?
Thats simple: community backing and development. What about vertcoin vs DRK then. DRK is not a pump and dump and will offer complete anonymity via DarkSend. hey guys, is it wise to mine both CPU and GPU on the same computer? Will mining both affect the performance of either?
Thats change nothing to mh/s but watt yes mean kh/s per watt goes dow if you use CPU too. Not problem if you have free watt hmm...not quite sure I understand? Do you mean my electricity cost will go up? I expect that due to more power being used, but won't the hashrate increase overall?

Evan,
Just wondering what you think the effect of "stealth addresses" in bitcoin would have on DRK? Do you think it will devalue DRK? Would it provide the same level of anonymity as DarkSend?
Thanks!

i got in too late and missed the giveaway unfortunately. Anyone care to send some my way? SLW7fPkYNssEVtCG6yjCjKjoeCrwgBQMaX
Thanks!
I wonder if there are any other coins like this that just give away the whole lot. Such generosity!

hey guys, just wondering your opinion on what will happen to DRK once stealth addresses are introduced into bitcoin? WOn't that take away DRK's advantage of providing anonymity?

Anonymity is important to people. I was disappointed the devs backtracked on their promise to implement zerocash. IMHO, Darkcoin is doing well and is ASIC resistant, plus mines much cooler. I hope drk considers zerocash protocol.
Full anonymity=scare mainstream smart anonymity (ie vert and stealth wallets)= mass adoption. what are these stealth wallets and when are they expected to be available??

how guaranteed is this coin to remain CPU only. Every coin that has claimed that so far has proven false and become GPU mineable.

is there a 32-bit version of a cpu/gpu miner yet?
Sorry, there probably never will be, it's not worth it to mine on a 32 bit system, it just doesn't function well. You could dual boot or boot off a jump drive, Ubuntu 64 bit and run one from there, but then your desktop isn't available to you while mining... ok thanks for the info...guess i'll have to install a 64-bit OS now on this computer I already have one running 64-bit OS but this one I'm on now is older, so it'll force me to upgrade the OS now

is there any chance is making DRK having faster confirmations like some of the newer altcoins have 30sec confirm times? 2.5 minutes may be too long in comparison especially if this is to be adopted for every day purchases eventually?

is it worth mining UTC on an Intel Xeon W3520 @ 2.67GHz x 8 cores or NVIDIA Quadro FX 380?
I'm only getting 5khash total on the Xeon with 6 cores. Is that normal?

your custom minerd doesnt do anything when I run it...however when i run the 2.2.3 latest version of cpuminer, the minerd works fine. What's up with your custom version? even when i just try run minerd.exe i get a blank window...this doesnt happen with the 2.2.3 version...i at least get a help window that comes up with that version.
Do you run the right version for your system (32 or 64-bit)? Besides, antivirus may be blocking it, please try adding it to exceptions or running with antivirus disabled. yeah, tried running the 32-bit version, didn't help with the AV disabled. thanks for the suggestion though!
