261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 30, 2021, 01:04:24 AM
I think that the Rockets - Lakers game last night was a really superb one. Honestly, I wasn't expecting Rockets to compete with Lakers this much hard. Lakers still won by 132-123 but thanks to Rockets also, we watched a high-scoring game. Lebron and Westbrook had a really important role in this nice victory here. They both made triple-doubles. Lebron (32 pts, 11 reb, 11 ast) and Westbrook (24 pts, 12 reb, 10 ast) did a great work in the absence of Davis. But Westbrook is a really inconsistent player and he should improve his game definitely.

I'm honestly not sure about the Lakers win.

They should have blew out the Rockets quite easily with a 20+ point margin, but the Rockets were able to hang with them until the very end.

Russ's shot off the backboard basically sums up his entire season - inefficient and sometimes infuriating.

That's one thing I thought about when I first heard about LeBron and Russ pairing up.  LeBron gets noticeably frustrated with teammates who make mistakes, especially during crunch time.  Russ is sort of erratic and has a habit of making mistakes.  The below clip illustrates this perfectly as Russell Westbrook dribbles the ball off his own foot and out of bounds during a simple dribbling up the court play...  You can see LeBron's body language that he is frustrated.  This is not a good environment for Russ...  I think Lillard would have made a much better pairing.

Completely agreed, although I doubt that Lakers had sufficient assets to acquire someone like Lillard who is by consensus much better than Westbrook.

We also know that the way to win with LeBron has always been to pair him up with shooters and cover his own flaw of being an average 3-point shooter.

Shipping away KCP and other players that could create off the dribble just like Westbrook certainly did not help.
262  Economy / Economics / Re: U.S. population grew only 0.1% in 2021 lowest rate since nation's founding on: December 29, 2021, 11:40:27 PM
Not surprising, given the lack of immigration.

Most Western countries probably experienced something similar, with a lack of immigration and a lowered fertility rate given that people are less likely to have kids when they don't know the hospital situation.

Expect a big upsurge in the coming years though.

264  Economy / Economics / Re: Gibraltar moves to become world’s first cryptocurrency hub on: December 29, 2021, 11:11:11 PM
I wouldn't say that Gibraltar is the first crypto hub.

Singapore, Malta, and now El Salvador have all moved much quicker and offer a lot more regulatory certainty imho.

I think that it is certainly a positive move though, and hopefully in the future there is no need for crypto havens as all governments should move towards positive regulation.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: P2P gambling games - survey from creators on: December 29, 2021, 10:33:04 PM
I think that the P2P idea has always been interesting.

However, there is just not enough liquidity in most p2p gambling platforms for it to be worthwhile for whales and regulars to play on.

Imagine waiting days to get matched with someone who can take on the other side of your bet, for instance. If you can solve this problem, you will attract a lot of users for sure.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: December 29, 2021, 10:18:23 PM
I think that metaverse gaming will be the clear next move.

As the metaverse industry expands, more people will spend time inside it and naturally people trying to make profits will move towards providing games of chance.

It's a natural progression for the industry to take in my opinion, and an imminent one.
267  Economy / Economics / Re: Americans overestimate social mobility in their country on: December 29, 2021, 10:07:22 PM
America is probably one of the worst when it comes to social mobility.

Most tech founders do not come from disadvantaged backgrounds, even those who are proclaimed to be self-made.

E.g. Bezos, Gates etc. all had very wealthy families that supported their ventures. Granted, they are very talented, but half the work was done before their generation.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top Cryptocurrencies for iGaming 2021 on: December 29, 2021, 09:43:08 PM
BNB is underrated imo.

ETH used to be the dominant player because of its low fees compared to BTC but in recent days, this has essentially been turned upside down.

There is now way too much fees associated with using ETH for it to be worthwhile, and I would suggest any beginners to avoid it for gambling microtransactions for now.
269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why should Gambling be legalized ? on: December 29, 2021, 09:37:30 PM
You pretty much hit the nail on its head.

The fact of the matter is that gambling is one of the most primitive human behaviours, and you simply cannot restrict it from happening.

You can try to regulate it by legalizing it, and you're more likely to curb problem gamblers as you are able to identify them at an earlier stage.
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you actually using/buying NFT's, and Gaming Tokens? on: December 26, 2021, 08:53:06 PM
No.

Most of the activity is completely speculative, and there is no utility even for the utility tokens/gaming tokens as they are just flipped whenever someone gets dropped one.

People need to understand that there is a difference between the new Web3.0 infrastructure and the jpegs that they are holding for fun. There is going to be a lot of bloodbaths within these markets coming up if people don't derisk in these positions.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why such high on tron chain too on: December 26, 2021, 07:47:57 AM
It's sort of a spillover from ETH and other chains in my opinion.

If ETH transaction volumes are super high and gas fees are skyrocketing, then it makes sense for people to move their transactions to other chains like TRON.

That pushes the load on the network onto high as well, which then pushes up the gas fees there - at least until the fees climb to some sort of equilibrium.
272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 25, 2021, 11:20:45 PM
What happens to the Bucks, looks like they are having a problem handling the Celtics even if they are complete now.

In the 4th quarter now and the Celtics are leading by double-digit, they have a good start and I'm afraid it will continue to beat the home team. As usual, Tatum is producing again but Smart and Brown are helping with good numbers too.

In the end, it's Milwaukee Bucks who got the last laugh and won in that game.

Maybe there are errors on the way but still, they managed to get a win. We just conclude everything when the final buzzer isn't ringing yet. Giannis has an unstoppable performance with 36 points.

I like how their Coach rotates his players. All active players played at least 16-17 minutes of playing time. No one becomes a bench warmer.

If this performance doesn't convince you that Giannis is MVP-worthy, I don't know what will.

He truly shines on the brightest stages and has led the Bucks to yet another comeback, outscoring the Celtics completely within the second half of the game.

Good adjustments by the coach as well, well deserved win. Celtics keep flashing potential but are just never truly there.
273  Economy / Economics / Re: Only 50% of the college Class of 2020 had full-time jobs 6 months post grad on: December 25, 2021, 11:08:16 PM
Having graduated from college some years back, its surprises me that this didn't start sooner.  It took myself and many of my friends quite a few months to a year to find a job after graduating form college.  I think many people take their time because they are often still living rent free with their parents and they are looking for the right gig.  More college grads could find work immediately if they were willing to find something part time like working for McDonalds are Burger King.  Also I think we must take in to account the pandemic.  The graph clearly shows that this really took hold when the coronavirus shut down many jobs/companies.

Which is why it is so important to get internship experience during college.

I think that a lot of people have the misconception of college being this guarantee that you will make a ton of money after you graduate.

That could not be further from the truth honestly. The stuff you learn in college is completely useless for the real world, much like high school, it's just that your degree boosts your reputation somewhat.
274  Economy / Economics / Re: Robert Kiyosaki expects a market crash and economic crisis - do you believe it? on: December 25, 2021, 10:36:48 PM
I think that there will be a market correction in the stock market for sure.

However, I don't think that there is necessarily going to be an economic crisis other than the inflationary crisis that we have become accustomed to for a long time.

So long as you are well diversified across many asset classes (housing, cash, cryptos, metals), you will be all good.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of the Really Popular Fast and Cheap Blockchain are Centralized on: December 25, 2021, 10:26:12 PM
Bitcoin is actually probably most price-to-decentralization efficient coin out there right now.

SOL, XRP, BNB etc. are quite centralized for sure and have a single point of failure.

But that's just the reality of things right now. If you want fast transactions you need to pay a higher fee, whether monetary or lower decentralization. But most of the time, the decentralization aspect is honestly not a huge concern.
276  Economy / Economics / Re: U.S. Contemplating Isolating Russia from SWIFT Banking System on: December 25, 2021, 10:12:07 PM
I wonder whether this will lead to greater adoption of blockchain technology and CBDCs sooner within Russia.

Given that they already had CBDCs in development, this should speed up the rollout of these technologies for sure.

I don't think that this ban would actually happen though. There would be too many businesses in Russia exporting to the U.S. affected for it to be worthwhile.
277  Economy / Gambling / Re: Very immoral marketing strategy. on: December 25, 2021, 08:13:32 AM
A marketing strategy and you are okay with it?  What of if you end up being scammed or moreover, you lost your fund through this kind of marketing strategy due to your weakness and ignorance to do thorough research before jumping on the hyped information. We all need to be guided to avoid later regret which is the reason why the internet is there to make thorough research.
Then that's you being idk, what might be a better term to use other than dumb? In the first place, a scam and a legitimate business are two different things, it's just that it's up to you to differentiate between the two. Now, as for losing money through these kinds of marketing strategies, well that's the point see. Marketing strategies are there to make you spend money, to make you their customer so that you can spend money for them to earn, easy as that. Now if you're complaining about that, idk man, it's mostly your fault ngl. It's pretty dumb to blame an advertisement for YOUR decision. Your the one making the decisions for your life, not the strategy.

So you are suggesting that it is completely okay to mislead players?

Please. It's not like this is something that is just normal marketing.

There is significant deception when it comes to giving streamers money and getting them as much as they need in order for them to paint a glorified picture of winnings.
278  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino context on: December 25, 2021, 08:06:32 AM
What casinos context got your attention this season as many gambling sites offer various contests I will like to see a list of the top mouthwatering contexts of the moment. I know of stake.com Christmas contest

I know that Duelbits is doing a $250k cash giveaway which is pretty good.

Roobet is also doing a very similar contest with $250k over 25 days I believe, which is not too shabby.

Check the blackjack fun site to see their Christmas promos and giveaways in various categories. But I can't tell if you can find a Christmas dedicated context because most sites have finished their context for the season just a few are currently running the context by this time.

Blackjack.fun has several good bonuses/promos going on that are worthwhile. Definitely worth trying them.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Solid Altcoins you suggest should not be in Top 100. on: December 24, 2021, 10:49:24 PM
I think that ENJIN has a lot of potential.

Projects like SAND and MANA are getting pumped left right and centre and ENJIN has been relatively tame and under #50 in terms of market cap right now.

I certainly think that given some more development, they can reach top 30. They have a good team and good developers, just need some more marketing.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Viable Altcoin for the moment on: December 24, 2021, 10:09:48 PM
In addition to the already presented long-term viable altcoins, I am optimistic about Solana. The coin has proven its promise and relevance in the crypto space. I think this is a promising coin with a good future development.

I disagree.

I think that there is a lot of hype around SOL for absolutely no reason.

I think that they will really suffer from ETH2.0 coming out with PoS, because the main reason why people use them is due to the high gas fees on ETH right now.

I wouldn't say that there is hype around SOL for no reason, because there is definitely an element of scalability that it has that ETH lacks, and also it has received some mainstream accreditation from the likes of Melania Trump.

But I agree with your second statement, I think that once ETH gets its stuff together with fees, there will be less usage case for SOL.

Still though, that is not enough to constrain the overall growth of the network in the long run - the transactions are lightning quick and you can't dispute that.
