Its all good Tongue I have to agree though I was following this thread because those two were fighting to the death over this deal haha
262  Economy / Services / Re: Looking to rent miners (1.25BTC per 1gh per 24 hours) on: August 18, 2011, 02:19:35 PM
He did pay me for a day using my 2gHash rig but yesterday and this morning he went off the radar. I switched back over to btc mining for the mean time but I don't think he has any more btc to give out.

I feel like that top rig is an accident waiting to happen lol Tongue
265  Economy / Services / Re: Anyone interested in 7 GH/s? on: August 18, 2011, 03:33:47 AM
so 7ghs = 2.5btc a day * 30 = 75btc = around 800$?
huh? how are you getting 2.5 btc a day. Its 3.899. So that's about 117 btc or 1,287 dollars
266  Economy / Goods / Re: [SALE] massive video card sale 4x{6990 6950 5850} & other random crap on: August 18, 2011, 01:28:28 AM
Also repeat after me: You are not your post count, you are not the number of bitcoins you've mined, you are not your hashrate.
Some people do have lives that involve not pressing f5 and commenting on every thread on an internet forum.[/color]
I'm not saying no one with a low post count can be trusted but a huge majority of scammers have less then 50 posts. When a person has a larger post count you tend to know a little more about them and a slight better opinion on their character. It's also less likely that they will scam because they have been around for awhile and most likely plan to stay much longer.

It is actually fucking annoying selling to you people because you waste a sellers' time with your window shopping attitude or stupid lowballing. That said, it should be a requirement to post pictures of items being sold here.
I probably fall under this category I definitely don't try to low ball but I definitely try to call out when people are trying to rip you off. I don't want newer bitcoin members to get tricked into wasting their money. For example the other day I outed a guy who was trying to sell a used rig for 2 grand when all the parts (or acceptable alternatives) were on sale for brand new. Brand new the rig he was advertising costs around 1200 dollars. That's 800 dollars more for a used rig.
267  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Catalyst 11.7 and 11.8 preview drivers available !!!! on: August 18, 2011, 12:59:41 AM
you don't need dummy plugs with 11.7 and up... can't recall if it really started with 11.6 though...
It was 11.7 and up. Before I got my 5th 5850 working I was on 11.6 and it required dummy plugs.
268  Economy / Goods / Re: For Sale - VisionTek-ATI Radeon HD 5870 on: August 17, 2011, 11:09:44 PM
I'll put an offer for $200 shipped to Europe (oh, that's $200 in BTC) just in case you decide to lower  the price in the next couple of days Wink
While its technically worth more then 200. Its not worth more then 200-225 for a miner. if he wants to sell it here he needs some one who is either stupid enough to buy it or lower the price.
269  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Catalyst 11.7 and 11.8 preview drivers available !!!! on: August 17, 2011, 11:00:02 PM
I wanted to let everyone know that the 11.8 preview makes dummy plugs UN-NEEDED!

Why is this a big deal for me?  Because I refused to use dummy plugs since it lost me 3-5 MH/s per GPU so I always just swapped monitors back and forth between cards to spin up each instance, then removed the monitor and left them to mine.

Now with 11.8, I can specify DEVICE=0 and DEVICE=1 without TOUCHING THE MONITOR CABLE!!!!

Fully remote, at last! (don't have to walk in there to plug in monitors when the rigs crash [which is often, due to clock settings and improper vrm cooling])

Uh I'm using 11.7 with no dummy plugs?
270  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Asus Ares 4GB Dual Radeon HD 5870 Limited Edition Value? on: August 16, 2011, 05:32:43 PM
that's the "typical" expectation of a typical product line...  but look at what happened with 5xxx series vs. 6xxx  a bunch of 5xxx are worth more used than what they sold new for.

it really depends on how they price 7xxx  it may not be economical if it costs too much.  but this is all speculation and kinda pointless to talk/guess about it... we'll just have to see what happens when they are out.
I'm sure that initially a used 5xxx series card was worth less. I feel like there will be a small window where you'll be able to pick up 6xxx cards for cheap before they go to 5xxx series prices.
271  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Asus Ares 4GB Dual Radeon HD 5870 Limited Edition Value? on: August 16, 2011, 05:21:41 PM
assuming 7xxx will be cheaper... has there been any pricing info on 7xxx?
huh? I'm saying 7xxx will make the 6xxx series less valuable. If I'm correct I hope to see the 6870 for example drop about 10%.
272  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 core clock. on: August 16, 2011, 02:27:49 PM
I'm getting 406mhash/s with my sapphire xtreme 5850 @ 975/300 no voltage change, operates around 68 degrees C
Do you have 1 card only?
I have 6 sapphire xtreme 5850 and the best card works stable @ 875/300 (the worst works @ 800/300), how did you made it work @ 975MHz ?
What OS do you use (Linux/Windows 32/64bits)?
What PSU do you use?
I'm not him obviously but yea theres no way you can touch that speed with 5+ cards. I'm running 920/325 and getting temps around 78c. I might try to push it once the summer is over. I live in the north east so come September/October opening a window is like a free ac unit Cheesy
273  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Powercolor AX6870X2 @ Newegg for $450 on: August 16, 2011, 02:22:59 PM
Any luck? Also as a side question to anyone does a 6870 reference card perform better then 300 megahash?
274  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help please...I'm a newb when it comes to mining on: August 16, 2011, 01:58:50 PM
Not worth to mine unless you have at least 0.5-1.0 Ghash/s, I have 3 oc/d gpus, 0.925 ghash/s in total and it's becoming less and less profitable...

Unless the price / value of BTC rises significantly, again... :-)

It will costs you around 54 cents a day to run it and you'll generate about .006 btc a day.

In order to break even you need it to be worth 90 dollars a btc and lets be honest if it reaches $30 the difficulty will sky rocket again so there is no profit to be had with cpu's.
275  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is the MAX possible pci-e slots on a mobo? What is the bottleneck on mining on: August 16, 2011, 01:48:37 PM
Wow... I didn't know that about mining... that you could use the 1x slots...  Thanks for the info.... but that board is getting some bad reviews...

How much are the extenders and where do you get them?

I have bought from this guy several times and have had no problems. http://cablesaurus.com/
276  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Asus Ares 4GB Dual Radeon HD 5870 Limited Edition Value? on: August 16, 2011, 01:44:04 PM
whats the better option $/Hash other than 58xx series?
Until 7xxx series is out in full force the 6xxx series will be way to expensive for mining.
277  Economy / Services / Re: Looking to rent miners (1.25BTC per 1gh per 24 hours) on: August 16, 2011, 12:42:25 AM
I will be willing to give about 1.95 ghash as long as your willing to give half of the first day upfront (about 1.1 btc).
278  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Asus Ares 4GB Dual Radeon HD 5870 Limited Edition Value? on: August 16, 2011, 12:11:29 AM
to put in simple terms... if money isnt an issue then get 7 and a good mobo and like 4 PSUs and mine away... if it is, then get some 5870s or 5850s... 6950s are also a viable option
6950's are only halfway decent if you can unlock the shaders otherwise you shouldn't buy a 6950.
279  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 core clock. on: August 15, 2011, 05:55:55 PM
I have a HIS Radeon HD 5850 that I cannot OC past 775Mhz, 600 Mem .  If I raise it just by 1 to 776 the card crashes and the rig needs a cold reboot.  I have a 2 card rig (6950 ref and the HIS 5850).   The 6950 pushes 430 Mh/s but I cannot get the 5850 to break 303 M/hs.  I clearly must be doing something wrong.

Setup:
ASrock 970 Extreme4
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 RX 850
GPU0: HD 6950 Ref
GPU1: HIS HD 5850
OS: Debian via BAMT

Anyone have the same card and success in OC w/ aticonfig or atitweak?

I think I've heard mixing 6xxx cards with 5xxx cards can cause some issue. I don't know the solution though since I have never tried to mix the series.
280  Economy / Goods / Re: Trade: Radeon 5830 + Up To $100 for Better Video Card (GTX 460/560, 6850/6870) on: August 15, 2011, 04:21:47 PM
Your best bet is selling the 5830 for $130 and buying a new card on your own. If you do it this way that will give you up to 230 dollars of money to work with which is well over the cost of a 6870. You could probably get a 6950 for around 240 some even have a rebate.
