Mitnichten. Die Forderung kam von der Industrie selbst. "Gerade Gurken" lassen sich leichter verpacken = höhere Dichte = weniger Transportkosten.

Haha good job sweeping that pesky "power" issue under the rug, Tom!  Maybe you can ...
Maybe you can wait until this weekend is over: "and yes I will still release the specs this weekend even if the website launch gets delayed for some reason"
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Algorithmically placed FPGA miner: 255MH/s/chip, supports all known boards on: October 17, 2012, 11:27:44 PM
Math homework for you.  How much rental makes him 700btc?  How much makes for him 700btc for custom hardware he keep private?
Good read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49971.msg1253774#msg1253774

Is interesting, with such imperfect information, that angry mob assumes 700btc (7700 dollars?) is adequate compensation for Dr. Tyrell's time and creation.
Well, 700 BTC may not be adequate, but it's more than getting almost nothing from commissions. (Are commissions actually enabled currently?)

Do you know what's not adequate for sure? Calling us "mob". Looking at your signature it seems like you need to brag about things - just FYI, I'm currently making a master degree in physics.

Rising clocks usually only causes a linear increase in power consumption. Rising voltages is a bad idea, because that will decrease efficiency for sure. Higher clocks + lower voltage is the best combination Wink

Nein, wirklich? Wink

269  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] Protect your future GPU mining earnings with CoinLab's 95-97% PPS Pool on: October 16, 2012, 08:04:57 PM
No, an API should be included from the beginning. Why? I use the API to monitor all my GPUs. This way I can make sure I get notified (via e-mail) of a GPU that begins to behave strange, e.g. fan percent going up but fan rpm going down - indicating a failing fan.

If I don't notice a failing fan my hardware may get killed. I don't want that Smiley

@CoinLab: Thanks (again) for the clarification.

Then I have just a feature request: Please include an API in your custom client. I'm doing everything via APIs (controlling miners, controlling pools...) so it would be great if I could do the same thing with your custom client Wink I think I'm not the only one doing this.

See OP: "Loyalty Point credits can only be redeemed through our custom mining client."

Any news on how you will pay out on Nvidia compared to AMD/ATI hardware? As NV is dead slow when mining bitcoins but better for most HPC work, will there be some kind of compensation?

I'm thinking about replacing my two 580 GTX in my desktop computer with something (much) less power hungry. Unless you have a model where it makes sense to use such video cards, then I'll keep them.
(...)
Eventually we want to make a market, so bonus rates will be set based on supply and demand.  We'd love for miners to be able to set, "My power costs X. I'm willing to do commercial HPC work for 1.3 X.  I'm willing to do Academic work units for as low as 1.05 X.  If no work at that rate is available, mine Bitcoins.  If mining Bitcoins would earn less than 1.05 X, sleep."  Then, our software will figure out which jobs to do based on your ruleset, and automatically switch between them for you to maximize profit.
(...)
Another thing which is not really clear to me: If doing HPC work and $/GH/s/day is below 2.5, will the HPC workunits be deducted from my loyalty points? Or do loyalty points only work together with bitcoin mining?

If no, at which point is the $/GH/s/day calculated in your current model? In the first step, when calculating the "base value" (this would mean your "earnings protection" will kick in as soon as possible) or in the last step, after adding all bonuses (HPC bonus, AMD/NV bonus)?

Oh, and another question: Will I always be mining bitcoins if there is no HPC work available? I don't know the market, but I could imagine a 5850/5870 (or think about cards like the 5770...) is unsuitable for most HPC tasks.

atm you can mine bitcoins at coinlab with any miner. Currently it's just a normal pool.

http://hhtt.1209k.com/

Currently only mining BTC. Later: HPC jobs with a custom client and bitcoin mining.

It was indeed bitpay and we were able to sort it out so I got my 5 BTC back.

Thanks everyone and big thanks to bitpay!

Case closed Wink
