261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: safe and reliable XRP Ripple Cloud mining contracts ? on: October 06, 2017, 06:52:02 PM
Don't ! Just don't !

Don't put a penny into cloud mining. Cloud mining (in my opinion) is simply a total and plain scam. You buy contracts for (X) number of months expecting to actually make money out of it but in the end you don't.

In fact you won't even get your capital back. Just take a second and think with me. Why would anyone in the world sell his hashing power and rent it out to you for a long period of time if he can just make much more money mining himself ?

Seriously I visualize every cloud mining service that ever starts as a scam or a scam in progress waiting for the right time to disappear with all the funds.

If you're interested in mining some coins, buy some GPU cards and start mining whatever you want. Other than that is useless.

Anyway regarding your question, Ripple can't  be mined Grin It's a token.

265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on the next fork? on: October 06, 2017, 01:51:25 AM
If the rumors of upcoming forks are actually true I'd be surprised. Two months ago was the Bitcoin Cash fork and apparently you can tell most of the people are still in favor of the original Bitcoin.

So I guess any upcoming forks would just go through the same path that BCH went through. COMPLETE FAILURE.
At least bitcoin cash has a community and a lot of people actually support it and believe that it's the solution to all bitcoin trouble.

But that new fork (whatever name they're gonna to it) what new does it have to offer ? Just a plain copy and paste won't go anywhere. Not even 1% close to BCH. So let them test and play but they'll eventually find out that they're wasting everyone's time.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you still use Bitcoin if it stabilised at around USD$5000? on: October 06, 2017, 01:30:19 AM
If somehow ,theoretically in an opposite dimension of the universe, the price of bitcoin stabilizes, it'll lose a lot of attention.
Many bitcoiners are into it because they like the concept of decentralization and that their money is safe in case banks run out of money or a national financial crisis happens like what happened in Greece.

But the number of people who are just into investing and making money out of it is much more. I'd basically be the first one to buy other altcoins which had chance to go up more (you never said all crypto will be stable ? )

But if we just imagine that all crypto prices are frozen forever then I'd just cash out. Whatever amount of money I make in btc would be traded for USD.

So many people would even leave the whole scene since they just get profits from trading.

Basically bitcoin's price goes up and down and we love it the way it is.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: eBTC. What do you think about it? on: October 06, 2017, 01:17:44 AM
Well although I can't tell or understand the reason behind this sudden increase in the price of an erc-20 token that has just been airdropped !

It reached almost $0.7 on the first day. That's incredible and strange. What makes investors put money into it ? Is it actually serious ?
When I first looked at it I took it as some joke (a simple token carrying on the name btc and stuff like that).

But guess what everyone is selling already. They all got it for free so they're selling at once. The price went down by 15% in three hours.

269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get Fork? on: October 05, 2017, 11:32:55 AM
If a fork is introduced like what happened with bitcoin cash, you'd get the exact same amount you have as bitcoins in the new fork.
So for example if you have 2 btc, you'll 2 Bitcoin cash.

As simple as that. You just need to have your money in a wallet or an exchange that supports the new network.
Personally I had not that much coins and I put them on Bittrex (actually kinda dangerous) but ended up getting the same amount on 1:1 basis.

You should read this. It's useful.

271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shall I be a hodler or day trader? Give me some advice! on: October 04, 2017, 11:56:34 PM
Day trading is a lot of effort and a lot of speculation and believe me if you haven't been doing it for a while you'll end up losing just like me.
So far I didn't earn much by trading except once or twice. I even tried arbitrage trading but ended up with nothing as well (check here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2182446.msg21959634#msg21959634).

It'd be much easier to hold some coins which you think are undervalued right now and have some potential to increase in the future.
I truly found that patience is the key to success.

Imagine buying litecoin in last march when it was for less than $4 and now it's for more than $50 that's more than 10x in six months.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fees (Opinions Wanted) on: October 04, 2017, 11:41:15 PM
Right now is the best time for sending low fees and the transactions get confirmed quickly.

This is some of my latest transactions and apparently all of them are with not that big fees.

I think it's very good actually. Sending $121 worth of btc and paying $0.08 in fees only and the transaction going through without using any accelerators or anything is amazing.

I don't know what do you want better than that.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! on: October 04, 2017, 11:07:51 PM
I like the concept of Burst and actually prefer it to other proof-of-capacity coins like storj (as I can't see them progress with any acceptable speed).

Since I try to make money from each and every opportunity I see what interested me more about three months ago was mining it. You just needed a good size hard drive and you can start making money. At that time it was somewhat profitable.

If you had about a 100 TB you could get about $600 with it and if you put in mind that the price a month later got double or so so you could get more than 1k.

But today the situation is different.
It got attacks, down time, network trouble etc.

When I checked if there's still any calculators online I found this only https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/tool/calculate
And when I put in 100 TB I found it gives less than a $100 !!

That's even less than a dollar for each TB. Of course it's totally unprofitable. I'm not sure if it's that accurate though.
I need to find if you know someone who is still mining to tell us how much he makes now.

EDIT: I just found on youtube a guy posted his stats for last month month and yes it went down to a dollar or so. So no thank you burst. Better luck with another coin.
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How much would you guys be willing to pay a month for a solid buy-alert tool? on: October 04, 2017, 10:51:17 PM
Such a tool would be totally useful for folks who trade a lot here. But you need to prove yourself.

I mean just saying that you have a tool and it works, pay to have it, won't work. If you somehow successfully developed such a tool you'll have to make it available for public use for a few days or so and it should prove itself that it works accurately before thinking about charging any money.

I'm not asking you to explain what it does (as probably you won't do that) but I'm just telling you that people here have been scammed so much in different things so you have to be legit.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN CASH is probably DYING on: October 04, 2017, 10:45:35 PM
Well I was never a fan of Bitcoin Cash. I just don't want to start laying out straight out facts as it still has a lot of supporters and a community that can't be neglected.

I  remember days before August when the forum was full of BCH lovers who started to spread that it's gonna replace bitcoin and it's what we truly need etc. etc. And I'm not gonna lie as a start seeing it reach more than $850 was crazy and it actually made me rethink the whole situation but still couldn't accept the 8mb solution.

Looking at the price changes for the past 24 hrs it's the only known coin that dropped that much ! A 10% decrease isn't anything small. But I can see that Zcash got down by 5% as well. So we just shouldn't run into assumptions.

It's either some are starting to lose hope and are selling or whales who invested in the $200 range decided it won't go anywhere better than $400 for them to sell.

277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin credit card on: October 03, 2017, 10:50:07 PM
This post is full of incorrect or (at best) very dated information.
Not true. There are several options that do not require the card to be loaded (prepaid).

"I've heard..." is not advice. You shouldn't post about hunches unless it relates to the future price bitcoin.

Please educate me about the meaning of PREPAID and how that is not true. And additionally ,since you have too much to say, tell me the right way of giving advice.
I said I heard amazon and other sites don't accept them ? Is this advice ?

Sir, are you not familiar with bitcoin exchanges? Most of these debit cards only work through exchanges...so wallets where you don't have any private keys. Bitwala works with Trezor but you do get the protection provide by MasterCard or Visa.

If you can't understand what the OP said and what I replied, don't comment.
Read again.
Pathetic.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Don't focus on GPU panic. Focus on efficiency. on: October 03, 2017, 10:40:56 PM
For the PSU, I would add that only buy GOLD/PLAT/Titanium rates PSUs, these are going to be running 24/7 you want quality and efficient powersupplies

That's one of the most important things in mining rigs that I see a lot of people don't care about and regret it later.
PSUs is the MOST important thing in the whole process. It's what powers up the whole thing and it's gonna working all the time so people should take it more seriously and anything lower than gold is a no no.

Here is a friend of mine who didn't listen to me when I warned him several times that he should get a better one.
The cables were of such a poor quality that they started melting before the whole thing blew up.

Believe me it hurts a lot seeing your money just gone.

Anyway thank god no kids or anyone was around when this happened. But it's a lesson to learn. Don't play with electricity ever.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any yearly profit calculator similar to whattomine ? on: October 03, 2017, 10:33:47 PM
Even if there's such calculators they won't be of any benefit to you. Why ?
Because simple the profits of earning aren't the same. Difficulty goes up from time to time as more and more people get into mining.

So whatever calculations you make for a year projection would be totally inaccurate.
Difficulty on July 1 was about 1000 TH. Today the difficult is almost 3000. That's increasing three times in three months only.

Apparently the profits decreased a lot. Now you'd get less than $1.5 per day which makes me ask if it's worth it anymore ?
So basically don't estimate for a year because you could end up getting less than half your assumptions.
280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin rise is over on: October 03, 2017, 09:36:56 PM
What's up with the trend of "hey the price just got tickled down a $100, let's make a thread saying that it's dead or over."

Every week or two you'll find the forum filled up with threads of people screaming here and there to sell and that it's the end of the bubble etc. etc.

What's going on people ? This is crypto currencies. Prices MUST go up and down. There's on standard price that is set by any means. If you just take a straight simple look on the charts of btc price you'll clearly see that it went down to $3500 on September 22 and everyone did exactly what you're doing right now only to find it back to $4000 4 days later.

Moral of the story: Stop running into conclusions or trying to predict what's coming because you'll never know. If you're so concerned about the price because you're trying to sell you'd better sell at anything above 4k.
