If that's the case, you can easily take it back by pressing the "claim" button. To stop such endless back and forth, you can (and should!) build a defense grid.

I don't think this is correct, for me at least. If I have zero energy, but my shield generator has no cooldown time on it and I go to generate my shields, the button is disabled. If I wait for the energy to rise above 50, 60, 70, up to 100, the button stays disabled until I refresh the page.

Hmm, this is strange. Probably a bug then, thank you for the report!

I hope some consideration is given to shortages. Plexiglass is used for so many different things in construction, and what little is out there on the market is gobbled up so quickly that trying to scrounge up enough to make say a biodome is nearly impossible. Shorting something like plexi basically brings the whole game grinding to a halt, if you're at the point where you can build structures anyhow.

Yup, we'll go ahead with the idea Quellzar (sp?) proposed, it should be in the next update.

Sadly, no. We should just buff-up our server with x2 RAM and CPU power, and we don't have enough players to justify it.
If we ever reach x2 player count, we will definitely do it (and do it again and again, if the amount of players keeps growing).

So, counter-intuitvely, invite MORE players :)

You mean epay/DOGE, right? Cause people are definitely withdrawing BTC via epay just fine.

Can we finally end the orichalcum/plexi shortage? It's been weeks... Imo shortages should really only last a few days, it can be debilitating if certain items are disabled for so long.

I've been playing this game for the past two months. I really enjoy it for the most part. The one thing that really bothers me is the energy counter. You sit and wait patiently for it to fill up, but then you click a link to leave a station and your energy drops 20 points. Go back into the station and it increases 20 points. Do you think this is something that will ever be fixed? Seems to have been an issue for a very long time.

It may be related to the above, but I noticed that if I approach an asteroid and my energy is accumulating, even after it reaches 40, the mining laser button stays disabled.

Thanks for you feedback. The energy meter will likely stay the same for the forseable future; I think I've already posted some explanations how it "really" works before, but here goes:

The actual "burst" happens once per minute. So if you have a +20/min reactor, you should get

00m:00s -- 20 energy
01m:00s -- 40 energy
02m:00s -- 60 energy

What happens "inbetween" those turns is an approximation, derived from the energy rate. The bar just grows according to it, but it doesn't accurately reflect what the server thinks your energy is.

To make matters worse, the actual turns do not all happen exactly at 00s mark, because the time it takes for the turn to compute varries. To make matters even worse, you can obviously hit the page load at something like 00m:30s -- which would make the counter off by 30 seconds. In addition to that (this is minor, relative to other problems), it takes time for the page to be transfered over the Internet and then rendered by your browser, all that lost time is also not accounted for.

To fix all that, complete server re-write is required, and that's not happening any time soon.

TL;DR: don't get too hung up on that meter, use it as a hint/guide.

Here's another thing from your post worth mentioning: the button states (clickable/greyed out) do not care about your energy at all. They only consider the cooldown time (which is represented much more accurately due to it being second-bound, not minute-bound).

If you can not permanently fix the problem with the CPU you can Do the "re-verification". I mean if you yourself could at the beginning of the CPU 7 to raise 10 through the verification email. This can be, and now to the one who has problems with the CPU alone in this way, correct the error.

That is an interesting idea, but e-mail verification is easy for bots, it wouldn't prove much.

I literally undocked from Nash and found myself getting shot by pirates in Algorab.  Had to figure out what the hell was going on because i didn't know where i was at first because there was no station then I looked at the planets and realized where i was.. so yea, a strange bug of sorts!

Ah, OK, I misunderstood you. I kinda recognize those symptoms: the game allows you to remain docked to a station, while the actual sector has been changed -- I've seen this happening when I manually teleport players. Since I wasn't doing that to you, I'm guessing you got wrecked and then docked to station at exactly the same moment (or something similar to that). I've filed a bug report, thanks!

Honestly, I did not get most of that. I'm guessing you meant to say the PvP is still not really a lucrative option with the current rules? If so, yeah, I feel you're right. We're thinking about improving this situation, but it's not that easy, as we don't want to put too much stress on the potential victims.

And so the shortages have changed again and yet again Orichalcum is non existent. Its already been out for almost a week and then gets selected as a repeat shortage.  I understand mostly the point behind the shortages and really don't have any problem with the idea or system used in general. That said though, its really starting to feel like i cant do anything at all with my planets about half the time i'm on here anymore.  Maybe i'm wrong but it seems like over the last couple months orichalcum has been shortaged a whole heck of a lot.

Is there possibly a way that the selection process can be changed so that at least the same items don't keep getting picked over and over again maybe?. Or something along those lines possibly?. Or am I way off here and thats outa the question?

This is a UI quirk. You should first visit the uplink tab, it will then download the necessary data. If it STILL doesn't work, then, yeah, something is wrong.

Why I move around sector? It help me evade rockets? Checked: no.

For now you can treat your ship like a camera anchor and/or to help you organize things on screen (like moving closer to some planet to quickly land on it), but in the future this might become something else entirely...

Minimize your cargo/warehouse and you'll see a "cargo summary" view. Those little icons represent full stacks of your items and can be dragged out!

Same, not sure what you mean. Also, yeah, we'll run a survey later and add all the needed hotkey players come up with.

About SG2. I like it, but can't find the way how to load/unload cargo. I think same is with equipment too.

All cargo operations are done via drag-and-drop. There are very little hints, but the following should work:

1. Drag from cargo to eq to mount.
2. From equipment to unmount.
3. To planet window to unload.
4. To station window to sell.
5. Market/Offers tab to place offer.
6. Market/Storage to place into storage.

I'm probably forgetting some others.



If you guys have been writing down the bugs, now is the good time to see if they still exist and maybe report them.

On the other hand, this can wait a few days, just have fun :)

UPDATE!

We're very happy to publicly announce the new game interface, called (for the lack of better name, egh) "Sector 2".

[TODO: Put a screenshot here. Can someone give me one, please?]

This is a massive, and overwhelming update, so I'll try to address the most important points, and please do ask questions, as I'm certainly missing something.

1. The game has not changed. At all. Like not even a tiny bit. (But more on that later*)
2. This is just a new view into the same world.
3. Everything you learned, know and own is still there.

4. The "classic UI" will continue to receive updates, work and love, probably 20-30% of it will be further AJAX'ified. (But more on that later*)
5. The "classic UI" is still the go-to solution for mobile users.
6. The new UI will probably NEVER be good on mobile, due to it relying A LOT on desktop (and PC games) metaphors .

7. We do want to spend manhours working on "useless" features such as nicer effects, wider range of animations, more interesting space backgrounds, etc. If you think it's a complete waste of time and we have betrayed our text-based roots, then you will not be happy with some of the updates.
8. The BUGS/TODO list has not gone anywhere, it's as big as always, and we'll continue to chug through it at our usual pace.
9. I'll be marking updates related to new UI with [SG2] tag in my posts.

10. The server is as laggy, as never-in-sync and everything-happens-in-wrong-order as ever. You will still experience weird errors
and problems. Maybe someday we will re-write the server, but don't expect it until 2020.



OK, hopefully that answers the most important questions.

* And, yes. Adding a second dimension gave us new toys to play with, especially in PvP/PvE area; we really really really want to make this portion of the game more exciting, make combat more dynamic, etc.

And having to support old UI in that area is going to slow us down, considerably. So, at some point, you may expect PvP/PvE portion to get skewed in favor of SG2 players, leaving classic UI users at a disadvantage.

Hmm, that's a sad note to end the post.

Nice to see the instantaneous-one-shot-rocket-pirates have been dealt with.  Got hit by two of them for 0 damage today.

Yes, the AJAX'ification of the classic interface is never going to be perfect :( Things that will likely never properly sync:
- CPU points
- Your satoshi balance
- Some of the cooldowns

It just wasn't build with AJAX in mind at all, which makes it really hard to convert into an auto-updating one. And although it wouldn't technically work without javascript, it wasn't built with much javascript in mind either :( There just ain't enough of a "framework" or an "engine" thing going on... The devs have told me many times it would be easier to re-write it from scratch, than to properly fix.

It's unable to place Ancient Powercells and Monoliths on market. Always price is to high.
And it will be more correct that on planet tab "Goods" will be available only when market module is built.

Its awesome that you have increased the speed of managing your ship  equipment and cargo. It makes things sooooo much easier to manage.

If I might suggest something is the new ship.  Players like me have no other option then to invest in planets. New bigger rare ships thats only on the players market would be awesome.

Slither needs some advertising as well. Maybe make the ship have some looting bonus against pirates so that people would be encouraged to use them. Difference between 180 and 200 energy is huge. I would suggest either make 150/200 armour/energy or 200/150

Maybe make some little buff to Mauler, like 4 eq  available. Just few suggestions.

No idea, it's all completely random.

There's no nefarious resason behind the shortage feature, BTW, it's purpose is to stimulate the player economy.



If I make mistakes right, then planetary 'Goods' sel/buy will work automaticaly at the end?
I mean if I have on planet quarry, wharehouse, refinery, factory and marketplace then I can offer on market 40nm PCB directly from wharehouse?
Someone asked about this earler: "...mine on one planet and transfer to another for crafting...". Even without transfer, mine copper ore, refine it to copper plate and send to market will be good idea imo.

No, I believe this degree of automation is the most the planets will allow. Someone has to manage them.

Ugh, could be! We added some item-related bugs, so it's all very possible... I've checked the logs, however, and it all looks fine to mine? Please do report if you see something out of the ordinary!
