If you have the cash to risk it could pay off but it seems very risky right now. Alts are riding high. I'm sure there will be a drop eventually as the hype dies down, but it might be another few weeks/ months before we see any real dip.

There were numerous incidents in the past when one government had been counterfeiting the money of another government.
There were many rumors about foreign governments counterfeiting US $100 bills in the late 2000s (supposedly China and some others) which lead up to the re-design of the bill in 2009/ 2010. Even if it costs $50 to print a high-quality fake, you are still essentially doubling your money.

Steal $10 billion in a Ponzi scheme, get four years in prison... And here I am trying to make a few thousand dollars on Bitcoins. What am I doing with my life lol?

I would wait for price to drop a little bit, but ETH seems like a good long-term investment. Could easily stay one of the top coins over the coming years.

April 7th is such a long time from now. It seems like the vulnerability would be patched by then. $75k would be nothing for a company like Apple to pay. It seems like if it was a serious compromise, the group would demand a larger amount or set a shorter deadline. Kind of sounds like a bluff IMO.

Unless you really need the money, its probably better to HODL to any decent coin at this point. I would put Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum in this category. There is probably much more of a chance at an upside than a large loss on any decent project at this point.

Brahara probably didn't have too much interest in Bitcoin after that case, he was just going after an easy target to make a name for himself. BitInstant happened to be located in this jurisdiction or they would probably still be operating. Unfortunately, the only thing most District Attorneys know about Bitcoin is related to the dark web.

Especially considering her other articles include a "Beginners Guide to Ethereum". But if we don't attract new users to crypto, who will buy the new shitcoins being pumped out each month when the devs dump them on the exchanges?

Looks nice. And shipping probably wouldn't be that bad, since it probably would all stack on itself when dis-assembled. (Although you would obviously want to ship within the same country unless you desperately needed this.)

People were buying Zcash for over 1 Bitcoin when it first came out. Nothing is logical in the altcoin market. Just a ton of people following trends trying to make a few dollars. Marketing is the most important thing. Get hot and drive the price up while you can. Most people aren't paying attention to the technology.
That being said, maybe Dash will stick around. Healthy competition is always a good thing. But they are definitely riding the hype wave right now.
|
|
|
Unlikely, if the price of Dark coin rises towards 1 btc, there might be hackers, Chinese miners may not want Dark coin to overtake their business.
MAY? I hope DASH has DDOS protection to the scale of DynDNS or some huge backbone provider like that, because their servers would be flooded with so much traffic they would be offline within minutes.

One of the truly anonymous coins will go up in value over the next few years, as people start to realize how heavily Bitcoin transactions are being tracked.
If you're trying to do something illegal and taking payment in Bitcoin, watch your back, because the authorities are catching on.

I wanted to buy some Dash but I'm still waiting on a Bitcoin withdraw from a gambling site for a week now... Really funny how poker sites will accept your money so fast but take so long to pay you when you want money back... Guess Im not making any profits on this Dash pump.

Is it even negative? Not really.
Sometimes when the market is expected to go high and it doesnt, you get a bunch of panic-selling. Can definitely be a good time to make some investment if you are willing to take the chance.

Lots of alts up this weekend, Dash up 50% ? Still waiting for someone to convince me to put money into this project. Will listen if anyone has some good points or shows me reputable services that accept Dash. Guess I will do a little research.
|
|
|
Cheap? $50 seems way over-valued. What is Dash actually used for besides speculating on exchanges? Please show me a couple major sites that will accept Dash as payment, maybe someone can convince me it has an actual value.

Wasn't the SHA1 collision limited to PDF documents? I only quickly read the statement, will have to re-read the document more carefully.
Anyways, if someone is able to crack SHA256, they will be using that technology for something larger than bitcoin. We are talking national security type stuff here: breaking into government systems and decrypting top-secret documents.
|
|
|
Of course it was intentional. And now the coins he premined are worth millions of dollars. Can't really blame anyone for pulling a get-rich-quick scheme.
Whats funny is the rise of Dash is showing how little people actually research before buying a coin, and how advertising is the main ingredient for success. (See Dash, Zcash, etc)

Price has dropped 3%. Better sell all your Bitcoin while you can! (Kappa face no space) This is just some normal movement. I really doubt we will see under $1000 any time soon. If we do, its just a good time to pick up some cheap Bitcoin.
