Ah right, because everyone knows what that meant.  Cool.
2602  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: New Miner with question about merged mining pools on: July 31, 2013, 11:57:18 AM
The only decent pool that does merged mining is BTCGuild.  Slush's pool doesn't do it any more, and any others that do it are too small IMHO.

ASICs will merge mine no problems, I'm mining on BTCGuild with my ASICs, and I'm getting NMC.

Is it worth it?  It really is money for nothing.  It's a tiny amount, but it's still a bit extra.  You don't lose any BTC because of NMC.
2603  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7950 Rig with Display Questions on: July 31, 2013, 10:23:41 AM
So what is it you want to do?  Do you want to use the GPU's display output?

I'm running an i3-3225 and a pair of 7950.  The 7950 cards have nothing plugged in to them.  I only use the HD4000 iGPU for display.  I can run up to 3 displays off the iGPU without using the 7950 cards.

To get this to work, set the primary display adapter as the iGPU in the BIOS.  You don't want PEG or Auto.  You want to set the iGPU as primary.

HTH.
2605  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Best practice: setting up multiple global stratum servers on: July 31, 2013, 08:06:51 AM
Going by the lack of responses, I don't think you're going to get any help.

I think that most pool operators are running their own methods, which they probably don't want to share on an open forum, or at all. Many pools are under attack daily by DDoS attacks, and posting the pool's configuration is probably a massive security issue.

I run a small network at work, and I'm not, and never will post it's configuration on the internet - it's just asking for trouble.  A big flashing red sign over my IP saying "Hack me!".

I suggest you start googling, reading white papers, and looking at network security and firewalling.

2606  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Miner restarts on: July 31, 2013, 07:51:07 AM
Wow.  Roll Eyes  What computer?  CPU?  Motherboard?  Memory?  What mining software?  What hardware?  GPU?  ASIC?  FPGA?

Jeesh, give us a clue...
2607  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: USB Block Eruptor - Invalid Nonce error with Satechi UH-12P - REWARD! on: July 31, 2013, 07:27:43 AM
Have you tried bfgminer?  I found it to be much more reliable with my Erupters.  As in, it works.

Just install the VCP drivers, nothing else, and fire up bfgminer with the -S all parameter.
2608  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Best practice: setting up multiple global stratum servers on: July 31, 2013, 07:25:46 AM
Maybe you didn't read my whole post, so I've cut it down for you:

You shouldn't be running a pool.

Hope that helps.
2609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs shipping 300 units a day on: July 29, 2013, 04:51:46 PM

That only means one thing: Minecraft and blowjobs are taking up way too much time at BFL. I suggest ending the Minecraft sessions.

That really made me LOL.   Cheesy
2610  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 29, 2013, 04:14:43 PM
And I'm back to the Celeron machine.  I set CPU Affinity to bitcoin-qt to one CPU core and p2pool.exe to the other, and I'm getting sub-0.2s latency.  Job jobbed.
2611  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 29, 2013, 02:13:53 PM
Yeah, I think there's something odd going on with Server 2012.  It's hovering about 0.7s at the moment.  Ran much better on Windows 7 on the Celeron 847.  Huh

I think I'm going to abandon the idea of running the pool node on this machine.
2612  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Best practice: setting up multiple stratum servers around the world on: July 29, 2013, 01:14:56 PM
I've said it before, and I'm saying it again.  If you're asking these questions, you shouldn't be running a pool.
2613  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 29, 2013, 01:04:44 PM
I just tried running my p2pool node on my "main" server, which is a FX8320.  8-core 3.5GHz.  12GB RAM.  SSD driver.  Getwork latency is 2 seconds compared to 0.3-0.5 on my Celeron machine.  Good effort, AMD.  Roll Eyes

Setting up your own node is easy, even an idiot like me was able to do it.  Running it on a Celeron 847 machine.

Had a stale share yesterday, but plenty of good ones since.  Making far more than I was on BTCGuild.
2615  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: In two days i'm stopping GPU Mining ! on: July 27, 2013, 05:04:00 PM
We officially have a Heat Wave here in the UK, so I changed back to BTC mining on my GPUs.

The extra heat of the LTC mining was insufferable in the house.  I'll be back to LTC mining all winter, it raises the temperature of the downstairs rooms of the house by 3C.  Saves a fortune on kerosene.
2616  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why is everyone trying to sell the USB Asic K1 Miner??? on: July 27, 2013, 04:52:29 PM

1. It doesn't look cool in the slightest. It looks like a USB stick, because it is a USB stick.
2. Sure, it will generate some bitcoins, but you already had some bitcoins which you wasted by buying such a device. There will be nothing "historic" about these devices. The only thing that people will remember about these devices is that a bunch of idiots actually paid for them.
3. Running a bitcoin miner is about as fun as running a clock.
4. That's no reason to throw money away.

1. It's got a little green light, of course it's cool.
2. Or the idiots who complained on the internet about people who bought them
3. Well, that's your opinion.  There's lots of folks who spend money on machines to run stuff like RC5, Seti@Home, Folding@Home.  At least these things give you some payback, where those other 'hobbies' are literally useless.
4. Who died and made you the world's financial adviser?

Before you say it, no I don't sell BEs.  I do have 3 of them.  But I do still have a number of GPUs mining, too.  Did I also waste my money there, too?

If you don't like them, then don't buy them.  If they annoy you so much, don't read or reply to threads about them.

You're a bit of a berk, aren't you?
2617  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Rumors on: July 27, 2013, 02:39:51 PM
Some loser on eBay UK was selling them for £225 last week.  I still see them for sale there.  I bought a few around £120 a few weeks ago, and one yesterday for less than £100.  I see the seller has them up at £80 now.

Yeah, £225.  He didn't appreciate me telling him how over-priced he was either...  Roll Eyes
2618  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I'm building a (semi)SUPACOMPUTAH!!!! :D on: July 27, 2013, 02:33:48 PM
4 GPU is pointless if you're not mining.  2x 7970 (or whatever) is good enough for games at high res with all the stuff turned on.
2619  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bitfury is looking for alpha-testers of first chips! FREE MONEY HERE! on: July 27, 2013, 11:50:11 AM
p2pool works with stratum.  All my miners are connecting via stratum to my p2p node (cgminer & bfgminer)
2620  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bit of an oddity using rasbPI to control asicminer USBs on: July 27, 2013, 11:31:36 AM
It's not an oddity at all. You can't use a USB3 hub on a Pi.

If you'd spent 3 seconds Googling the issue, you'd have discovered that...
