2601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: August 09, 2019, 03:39:59 PM
@RivAngE. As Febo showed, the hashrate has increased 3x in the last 3 weeks.

No; it hasn't. See https://grinscan.net/charts for accurate graphrates.

I read on reddit someone mention hashrate growth and went check and saw https://2miners.com/grin-network-hashrate  , now when I read what you said I checked more and is somehow confusing why some statistic shows same as where I first look and others as you showed. This ene to https://grin.blockscan.com/chart/type/hashrate

Here you see is 1.44 MGps: https://miningpoolstats.stream/grin-c29

https://grinscan.net/charts sadly shows only one week of history. Sad
2602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [ZEC] Zcash Speculation on: August 09, 2019, 03:08:56 PM
ZCash just got region banned on Coinbase for United Kingdom users.  Does taking 20% of coins for  Electric Coin Company makes ZCash a security under United Kingdom regulations?
2603  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance Swirled into ‘KYC Leak’ Turmoil, Binance not Safu Anymore on: August 08, 2019, 05:36:15 PM
This is one of the reasons why I am against the mandatory KYC verification. Now only god knows what these hackers are going to do with all those ID cards. BTW, there is something seriously wrong with Binance. This latest incident comes just a few months after some hacker stole BTC7,000 from their hot wallets. If I was a Binance user, then I would not keep any of my coins there.

Every time you KYC you rick that those information's will at some point in future, it can happen 10 years from now, leak out. Someone can steal them or even they can sell them. And this not only at crypto exchanges but everywhere you KYC. And you do a lot from time you entered kindergarten.
2604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra vs XRP on: August 08, 2019, 04:45:26 PM
Considering that Facebook's Libra will be an extremely centralized cryptocurrency, it might very well be adopted by financial institutions within the mainstream world. Ripple's XRP also has the same purpose where it could drive mainstream payments in a fast and cheap way, backed by many Banks worldwide. While both Libra and XRP have their similarities (in terms of centralization) they're certainly different by design.

If Libra's launch becomes a success, then XRP's existence may be threatened over the long term. Both cryptocurrencies would battle head-to-head in order to become the top choice of Banks worldwide. Comparing Libra vs XRP, Ripple has all the possibilities of taking the lead because of the many partnerships it has established with Banks worldwide.

Which is why, it makes me wonder whenever Libra will become the currency of the world or XRP? Or will they co-exist in the future? Huh

Not only XRP but also many other altcoins. Libra will not be as is is planed right now, but will evolve way wider. XRP and other coins will simply not be able to compete with Facebook marketing and reputation.
2605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 08, 2019, 03:06:10 PM
It's a long hill to climb, but I would really like to see XMR overtake BSV in marketcap.

Nearly inevitable, the only issue is timing (for the impatient).

Do you put more weight on XMR becoming more valuable or BSV becoming more fraudu... ehem less valuable?

Huge amount of BSV dont exist and never will. I doubt 1/3 of 17 millions BSV actually exist. Probably way less. So their real marketcap is way under Monero.
2606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: August 08, 2019, 02:23:17 PM

Grin hashrate increased for more then three times in last three weeks. That is good news for the coin. Not so good for miners.
2607  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the bitcoin price prediction for 2020? on: August 07, 2019, 11:00:54 PM
Any bitcoin price prediction for 2020

any experts price predictions??

Until December 2020 that is 16 months from now price of Bitcoin can be from sub $3000 to over $100000.  And fro both this 2 prices there is quite high chance but also price will not stay there for long.
2608  Economy / Economics / Re: What is behind the past few days of rally? on: August 07, 2019, 10:33:43 PM
It is all green candles. Up up up. Why? Is there any news to shed some light on this? The price will probably fall fast now. I think this green streak is not going to last for long.

It is because of trade wars and what uncertainty that is ahead of us. I had not seen so much positive mentions in regular newspapers as I did in last few days. Bitcoin is not only mention as par to Gold, but as better option then gold. It is something we only dream off only 3 years ago.
2609  Economy / Economics / Re: Did Satoshi ever mention anything about the taxing of Bitcoin? on: August 07, 2019, 10:01:26 PM
Did Satoshi ever mention anything about the taxing of Bitcoin?

Transaction fees are the tax you have to pay so your transaction happens. He told a lot about fees, just search for it.
2610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 07, 2019, 07:30:36 PM
^  And what's LTC doing in pushing the tech forward in the space?  Nothing.  All it does is copy what BTC does.  Lol.

I expected BCH and latter also BSV will be huge competitors to Litecoin. And that Litecoin will lose that "Bitcoin backup coin" trait. But It dont seems that way.

Uf, also BisQ had 2 million volume today. That is huge compared that a year ago was success to have few 10k. With this pace there will be soon most of Monero volume on BisQ.
2611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC halving , what to expect? on: August 07, 2019, 07:00:58 PM
buy the rumors sell the news,
I think after the halving we are going to see a sharp drop at the price. And then we are going to see a correction and the consolidation. This could also trigger the global altcoin sell which will increase BTC dominance more.
What you said is really what is happening now. It is the reason why I completely depends on technical indicators whenever I have decided to invest into a coins! Litecoin halving has had it infect on the market before it  happens and since the day before yesterday we have been seeing it moving below $100. I was thinking that it should pump but it has remained within the prediction of the technical indicators.

Halvings have fundamental influence on supply. They are not a rumor or news.  They will just help price of Litecoin to increase in future and also in recent past.
2612  Economy / Economics / Re: How many months left until recession? on: August 06, 2019, 03:59:15 PM
I found this picture on reddit. Now it is clear to me why Trump wanted interest rate to decline more. He will have slim chances for re election if recession hit already this year. Sadly recession this or next year will not help Bitcoin at all. We might even see new bottom.

What kind of recession are you expecting to happen, you think countries will still watch till they plunge into recession, when we talk of recession now, we don’t have to generalize it again, there can never be generally recession, it has been how many years now that people has been talking about recession, and yet we are not seeing any, is that not supposed to send signal already that many countries are already doing everything possible to avoid recession.

If they can guard against recession, then we should not expect any recession to happen. In my country, we already have our own recession silently which not many people knew about it and we are over already, so as some countries have had theirs at low key, so which recession are you then expecting that would make the world?

I dont know what kind. For sure global with China and USA leading it. Last recession was weak since it ignored China and China made it much easier for everyone else. It is gonna be huge. And there will be nothing to fight it.  And when they will want to bail out banks a year or two latter some political parties will oppose to it and start factorizing Bitcoin.
2613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tezos up 50% in 6 days on: August 05, 2019, 11:22:46 PM
Tezos has been really strong after the announcement that Coinbase will be listing them. It seemed that after the initial 25% surge, bulls would have to face an inevitable pullback but it seems that bears weren't awake and bulls kept the momentum going.

But that happened 30 July. Do you think that is the case because of insiders trading? Coinbase announced today and not a week ago.
2614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC halving , what to expect? on: August 05, 2019, 06:11:35 PM
Litecoin inflation rate per annum: 4.26%  is very close to 3.83% of Monero https://moneroinfo.herokuapp.com/ and 3.68% of Bitcoin.  But Monero one keep decreasing and Bitcoins will in a bit less then a year.
2615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [ZEC] Zcash Speculation on: August 05, 2019, 01:31:00 PM

After almost 3 years of constant price decrease ZCash managed to got to 600k sat. Where will this end? will we see 100k sat ZEC?   Will we see similar story with Grin?

Why are you taking Grin into this? Grin is not similar to zcash where it takes a tax from each block from the miners and depends on it for its continued development.

Grin might become a similar story because of its monetary policy, however.

Yes. Value of ZCash dont decrease because of any tax but because of emission schedule. Small at start what boosted price up and eventually slowly adding up. Now close to 3 years latter we are at 37% emission inflation. Grin will most likely face same plan 2 years from now.
2616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 05, 2019, 11:27:21 AM
Has anyone tried applying planB's stock-flow ratio model to XMR by any chance? Would love to see if there is anyone with any insight as to how XMR can fit into that model given the perpetual 1% inflation of the currency.

To predict price out of it is sort of a witchcraft. Emission is just part of supply. And to get price you also need to consider demand.

But yes, there is gonna be less then 1800 Monero mined daily from now on. And in few weeks time Monero emission inflation will get under Bitcoins or Monero stock to flow ratio will go over Bitcoins.
2617  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 05, 2019, 12:58:22 AM

same mistake as Monero.

Wrong a tiny tail emission that supports mining is not infinite coins.

Tail emission forever *is* infinite coins. Monero’s tail emission rate is 3.6%.

Bitcoin’s current inflation rate is 3.87%. In May 2020 Bitcoin’s inflation rate will be less than Monero’s tail emission rate and will keep falling.  Monero will never match Bitcoin as a store of value.

The transaction fees on Monero are sufficiently horrifying that there is plenty there to support mining.

Tail emission is a fatal flaw.

Monero have perfect emission. Current Monero emission inflation rate is 3.84%   You can daily check it here: https://moneroinfo.herokuapp.com/

Bitcoins current inflation rate is 3.68% and Golds 1.7%     Monero tail emission will be 0.8% so more then half less then Golds and more then 4 times less then Bitcoins at this moment.   If you think that i s a lot, then you really dislike Bitcoins.

Overall in next 20 years Monero, Bitcoin and Gold mining emissions will be quite close together. No huge differences. All will be scarce and none will have problems with to low emission.
2618  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 04, 2019, 07:17:53 PM
I argued the mere fact that Beam is not a shitcoin after someone mentioned that it was. Happy speculation, I will probably check in after another 3 years.

No one will use company/foundation/corporation/country/whatever owned coins. Specially with alternatives they have.
Data show otherwise

Unknown amount of Monero gets transacted daily.

You should definitely listen to Libra hearings. You will realize in a second why people will rather choose permissionless coins.
2619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting into the cryptoworld without investing anything on: August 04, 2019, 06:34:42 PM
1: Don't EVER use faucets. They give u such a small amount that it's a waste of time, and you know what they say; time is money!

That is not actually true.  In 2012 I when i first found Bitcoin did faucets for a day. Next day I forgot about it. Then two years latter I found that wallet and realized I was super well paid for that day. Of course Bitcoin price increased x100 in those two years.
2620  Economy / Economics / Re: How many months left until recession? on: August 04, 2019, 05:50:59 PM
Isn't it much more worrying the interest didn't reach it's precious high before they start reducing it again? I see a overall decline in peaks, doesn't that mean the economic boom was less strong than the previous one?

Yes, they have little firepower to fight recession. Many believe this will be the last recession and after it economists will forget about Keynes and revive Hayek. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0nERTFo-Sk Economy is not as strong as in early 2000 because recession of 2008 was never really cured.

As somebody said: when everyone talks about upcoming crisis - there will be no crisis, but when everyone forgets about it - crisis will come. I might be quoting it wrong, but I also believe that nowadays as literally everyone knows about economic problems, everyone is prepared and tries to mitigate it - there is little chance of significant recession occurring. Temporary minor decline - possible, but not recession. And surely the countdown is not for months, but rather for few years.

When you have no weapons to fight it does not matter much if you know the enemy is at the gates. Just look at the graph. Normal interest rates should be from 2-5% and crisis used to start when were above 5%. Now are at 2% and in Europe at zero.
