Tone Vays and Roger Ver section of Malta Blockchain Summit 2019 - Live Stream

They get into a pissing match about transaction fees. Roger says that you have to spend $3 for a BTC transaction fee, which makes it impractical for sending $5 worth of BTC... Vays says he hasn't paid more than a dollar for a fee in the last 9 months. He ends up sending Roger $5 of BTC with a 1 cent fee. Roger says if it confirms in the next 24 hours he'll donate $10,000 to Vays' charity of choice. It confirms in 10 hours.

Wonder if Roger held up his promise...

tldr: tx was added manually by slush and bet was end of day local time not 24 hours. if i got it right.

((they)) may not be able to trace some transactions and link them to people now, but i am certain they will be able to do so to a large extent in the future. they will be able to go back as far as they want as its all public anyway. and i would rather not have the IRS, or whoever, make my life miserable down the road.

Yep, tax office depending on jurisdiction has like 10 to 20 years time to jail you for dodging taxes.

Via chain analysis and kyc on exchanges .gov will know what you do, hard to escape this.

yup thats the way i figure it. sure be a drag to be lounging in my mega yacht 10 years from now and suddenly have 3 letter agencies crawling over your life, all because you tried to avoid paying a few thousand in taxes.

thats why i never bothered with mixers [...]
Tax in Netherlands is just 1.2% per year of the Jan 1st "value", nothing on actual gains. Never used a mixer but I assume they charge more than 1.2%. Looks like they spend a year collecting information about really dumb people.

in the USA we pay capitol gains on the difference in price when bought vs when sold. so i actually like having a very simple straight forward way to match my coins for tax purposes. there are a few different ways to do it, last in 1st out; 1st in 1st out etc. it can make a big difference in what you pay.

Holy shieeet

You are not anonymous bruh!

Wearing my hat back.

thats why i never bothered with mixers or even trying to hide my purchases made with btc at newegg or for PMs and reported those purchases on my taxes as they were taxable events. and i dont worry about KYC at the two exchanges i use as fiat on/off ramps. btc is not anonymous and i never treated it as such.

Learn to ignore.

ive used my ignore button more in the last few weeks than the entire previous 8 years ive been here.

Fine. It's just you can do it quietly, without drawing additional attention to the person.

point taken, merit sent.

will go back and edit post.

~snip~

Call me an age scientist pessimist.

This debate is philosophical and for some peeps, just waste of time or pure bullshit "read very young and very old " I comes in midway and I want 30 more years of healthy life if I make it on this mark, then I can push 20 more years easily if life doesn't come in a way.

key is "take care of your body when you are young" IMHO.

while thats true, we (my buds and i) were indestructible when we where young. and we proved that, to a point. we just collected a fairly amazing collection of scars, broken bones, and burnt out brain cells.

i mean thats the point of being young. test the bodies limits. worst that can happen is you die in a spectacular way, worthy of stories told down the ages.

even if the we knew all those "hold muh beer" moments of youth would knock years off of our lives (and we more or less did), we still would of done them if we had the chance to do it again. it was a blast.

sitting around the nursing home in a diaper and sucking your gums while a nurse wipes the drool off your face doesnt really appeal to me. and medical advances wont be anywhere near the point that regeneration of your body and brain are feasible, not for a long time yet. as thats the only way to really extend quality life.

very interesting read.

for a low performance brain like mine, to keeping up with shelby would require me to hire several secretaries and researchers.

he can type faster that i can read. must use some sort of water cooled keyboard.

First wanna thank you guys for the "for most massively" support coming from you guys (for the source application)

you made it? NICE

you got an amount thats your monthly allotment. i divided mine by 30 and if i stay near that target i can count on getting that amount back every day on the next cycle. you can of course spend more or less but on days when i go way over that and run out it sucks big time the next month being dry and going days waiting for them to come back. because then of course i find dozens of posts to merit..

they will come back 30 days later. to the second.

2633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 14, 2019, 03:55:23 PM
In light of the Whatsapp incident, and the millions of privacy issues with phones. let me plug these guys.

https://puri.sm/products/librem-5/

Any privacy conscious bitcoiner (who will soon have plenty of disposable cash) should be buying this as their next phone.

this why i dont use any of that social media crap. if its important, they will call me. if its not important, i dont care about it.

i did have to actually make a facebook account last year to communicate with a step sister about some estate stuff as she has no smart phone. put in my name and birthdate and that was it, turned everything off that i could find. it lets me use messenger on the computer to communicate with her. soon as she gets a smartphone i am deleting it. my email inbox has hundreds of emails from facebook stating you should review so and so and all sorts of crap. i just ignore it all unless it mentions my step sister.

on the phone facebook (preinstalled) has been permanently disabled along with a dozen or so other useless social media apps.

kinda funny about me actually making a facebook account.where i used to work everyone uses Facebook. one person even got fired as she called in sick and on facebook she posted pics of her at a party that day. brilliant heh. anyway i told everyone one when i left that if they ever get a friend request from "me" is a fake.

It's so nice to go out for a walk on a beautifully sunny Sunday morning, and to come back home and see that your BTC is worth more that you left it...

A two-hour walk earned me 4 months worth of salary money...

Go Bitcoin, go!
In my case, 1 day earned me 4 years salary  Grin

i remember last run to 20k. due the exchange daily limits i could not shovel money out fast enough. and at that rate i would never be able to get all the money out as i always had more money in the exchange than the day before, even after pulling the max. because the next day, the btc i still had in there was worth more than what i pulled out, even though there was less btc there after selling some.

i remember being pissed.

then i realized if that was my biggest problem... well.. i couldnt help but laugh. really put things in perspective.

did it ever work at all in the nest?

are there any status lights on either the nest or acorn when its plugged in?

is the pcie slot set to gen 1 or gen 2? it should work gen 3 but i would try setting it to a lower gen.

you could try the nest on a 1x riser just to troubleshoot.

you should head to the fpga acorn discord, they will be far better than i at helping you on this.

For a Buddhist country Thailand seem to be quite enthusiastic to slap the death penalty on various offenses. Maybe next time they'll explain it as "assisted reincarnation".

just need signs at every point of entry thats says "Welcome to Thailand. We may kill you for any reason at any time. Enjoy your stay."

I removed the Acorn CLE 215+ from the AcornNest X2G and installed it in the M2 slot on my Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A motherboard.
The fan on the Acorn CLE 215+ is working now however the Acorn CLE 215+ is not recognized by the motherboard.
I removed and re-installed the driver but still the motherboard does not recognize the Acorn CLE 215+.

I again put the Acorn CLE 215+ in the AcornNest X2G and to my surprise window 10 x64 does not recognize it.  I removed and re-installed the driver but still the motherboard does not recognize the Acorn CLE 215+.

Does anyone knows what is happening? Anyone had a similar problem?

looked at the manual for that mobo, looks like your M2 is SATA only. needs to be NVMe for acorns to work. but it shouldnt hurt anything by putting it there, just wont get recognized.

as for it not being recognized when back in the nest.. not sure, try moving the nest to another slot.
2640  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Our capitalist minds don't let us evolve. on: May 10, 2019, 03:41:25 PM
evolution has been stopped, or greatly reduced, by technology. once we fingered out how to control the environment and stopped the environment controling us, we no longer need to evolve.

in fact we may be devolving. modern medicine keeps alive those who would of died from bad genes even a hundred years ago. thus less desirable genes that would of been removed from the gene pool now contribute to it.
