.....
sending a "high quality" picture of your kid to grandmother:

analog: .....PITA

digitally: you take your mobile phone, take a pic of your kid and send it to your grandmother a few seconds later.
....

That’s all well and good but it got me thinking...
Now everyone and his brother takes a million pics and vids
of their ugly selfies with silly added effects like a cat face or some ridiculous thing,
or what they ate for breakfast. And sends to Grandma ( and every other poor slob
on their contact list).Well I got news for you...after like the 3rd one sent, Grandma and
everyone else isn’t interested in those high quality pics and vids of junior making
faces at the camera.

out of literally thousands of pics taken with digital (camera or phone) maybe one of 200 are kept. thats whats important to me, i can take  dozens of pics of something and pick out the best one right away. analog with its 36 pics a roll (or whatever) and time lag makes you waste film and time to pick that best shot. thats the real advantage of digital. imo of course. oh and film changes in the heat of the moment sucked pond water. i had to bring a backup camera to events for when i hit the end of the roll and still needed to shoot if there was no time to change film in the primary camera.

kodak is such a textbook example of what happens to you when you don´t take the power of digitization serious enough. kodak was the global king of photography, ruling this industry for more than a century.
[...]

sounds like IBM giving away the keys to the kingdom with DOS and its open hardware architecture for its original IBM PC. of course bill gates had a hand in that too, licensing DOS instead of selling it outright to IBM. opportunity is opportunity.

kinda like bitcoin and fiat actually. well, not really, but sort of. but hopefully one knows what i mean.

history has a lot of lessons, too bad most dont bother learning from it.

kodak making drugs and such now. wtf and didnt they sell rights to their name on some shitcoin a while back? kodakcoin or some crap?

my dad was still building and upgrading computers into his 70's. plus still into ham radio.

he helped me build my 1st custom PC, a 386SX back in the day (he had given me his IBM AT before that.. thats a 80286 for those younger folks). we kept each other up to speed in various tech till he passed away. we were also in a quake clan together for a long while.

never stop learning.

Jet Cash, keep on doing what youre doing. youre too young to stop playing with tech. or anything else for that matter.

i dont trust bots. (apologies to JJG)

I don't trust stealth helicopter wannabes...  (hahahahahaha... whoops... did I go too far, with my desire to humor my lil "selfie"?)

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

well ok ya got me. i was never improved past that very early experimental prototype due to an unfortunate incident involving several.. well several umm.. reasons. yeah.

I found this picture of me at a vintage fair. The beard comes and goes, and I get the odd haircut. Smiley

You are a tractor?

Holy shit!

yeah that obviously fake human shaped cutout propped up next to him threw me off too. misdirection at its finest.

i would post a pic of me but as i am a highly classified experimental attack helicopter, i am not to be seen.

Hopefully, disabling signatures is allowed to every member. I agree too, it's not annoying, but I was curious. Signatures tho, are.
You can also disable users signatures on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=theme

I don't know if everyone can do that or if it's only for higher ranked users, though.

Thank you! Finally got rid of all those ugly spam signatures Smiley

yes the no displaying sigs option rocks, ive had that enabled forum wide for years. much more enjoyable reading.

Thanks for posting this, makes me feel better to have peers in that sort of thing. We did what we did, and it brought us all to the place we are at now.

Nothing like drying yourself with a thousand dollar towel :-) Down the road a bit I might trade a bitcoin for a Lambo, but then I'm sure I will be kicking myself about it in a year or two :-)

well polishing your lambo with that thousand dollar towel will probably still bring a smile to your face.
1789  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 28, 2020, 02:43:16 PM
heh yeah. i dont regularly check the price (maybe once a week or even less); i have laddered sells and buys set and let it run on autopilot for the most part. but when in the space of like 6 hours there were 8 new pages in the WO i fired up a tab to my exchanges.

Do you have a bot to make new orders once you had some that have been executed ?

nope. the WO thread gives a heads up on big moves and i do check my fills and such when im checking the price. ill then redo the ladders if needed. but its a pretty good range with some set to pop on wild moves up or down as well as the more "normal" intervals.

i dont trust bots. (apologies to JJG)

I've just bought a new monitor at Newegg.com, and paid with Bitcoin.  Wink
[...]
The only drawback is that i spent my precious hodled satoshis. Now a frenetic bullrun will surely begin.. This is going to be the more expensive monitor ever (0.07 BTC for the records).

The monitor (bought with btc @9300) got delivered yesterday. From Newegg to Argentina in 5 days, even with covid. I cant be happier with this gadget.

Meanwhile the honey badger did its thing... I told you so.

same story more or less here. spent the last month or so slowly cashing some out for fiat for a project. just when i hit my fiat goal (@ maybe 9.4k per btc or so average) boom off goes the honey badger.

gooooood honeybadger  Grin
1791  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How my bitcoins were nailed down in my grandfather's garage. on: July 28, 2020, 12:46:48 PM
when you really get down to it a lot of us early miners lost far more than that just playing with wallets, no current backups, whatever. lot of potential fiat (say at 10 grand per coin at todays value, but of course much less then as it was at like 10 bucks a coin) were willingly spent or lost  (testing wallets, pools, exchanges etc) to test the system.

not to minimize your loss. as that does suck.

it will suck starting from scratch again but try to start stacking again.
1792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 28, 2020, 11:24:03 AM
You know shit's happening when you check the board and there are 10 pages of new posts since you went to sleep, lol.

heh yeah. i dont regularly check the price (maybe once a week or even less); i have laddered sells and buys set and let it run on autopilot for the most part. but when in the space of like 6 hours there were 8 new pages in the WO i fired up a tab to my exchanges.

it was an enjoyable experience. and now a tab is always open on my main exchange, havent done that for a while.

in someones words: "weeeeeeee!"

Plus, you seem to be gay   - especially with those lil selfie underwear on the sides of your head. .  #nohomo

The effrontery! These manly underpants were handed down to me by my forefathers as a symbol of my virility and great child-rearing power.

uh.. you have three johnsons?

lol my hat is in pit row with mechanical problems. as long a i dont pull a DNF im good though.

I discovered the source of the mechanical problem. Your hat is in jpg, but I thought all avatars were .png files.

I will try to figure out a solution for this... I completed all hats with https://bitcointalk.org/useravatars/avatar_USERID.png

i should be able to convert my avatar to .png and re upload it. as my brain overheats easily it might take a day or so however.

and lots going on in this weird new reality atm. but no worries that graph rocks!

Hey, I am having a lot of free time this quarentene.
As WO is almost a forum on its own, I have made these 2 animations showing top merited and top merit senders only inside WO thread.

lol my hat is in pit row with mechanical problems. as long a i dont pull a DNF im good though.

edit just noticed at least im in the top 15 senders. cool

1799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Remembering the earily days of mining... on: July 27, 2020, 09:34:34 AM
if you look through mining posts around the 2010-2011 timeframe there are some truly amazing pics of setups. hundreds of gpus just stacked on sagging shelves from the sheer weight. a lot of pics gone in that thread but it was some awesome (and scary) stuff.

You referring to this old thread? Pictures of your mining rigs!.

Yes, it's a thing to behold, Lol, some of the images are no longer loading, but there are still some that we can droll all over. And there's also a video there, someone uploaded it to Youtube and you can really here the noise and how loud it is if you are mining in your room.

yup thats it. thanks!

still enough pics there to stare in awe and wonder. talk about fire hazards and such. modded my own ribbon risers with aux power soldered into the cable. but moon baby, moon!

and i only had a few machines and like 5 gpus. wimper

Can some one in this thread please write what this is as I do not know what it is.
So I won't google it to just give a flip answer here.

OMG. It's really unbelievable. 4 active veteran member of forum said that they doesnt know anything about DeFi. I'm not sure about DeFi platforms can survive or cant. But not knowing anything about DeFi is realy interesting.  Shocked

been here since 2011. never heard of it either.
