26301  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Most Popular & Trusted | Huge Community | Free BTC on: August 27, 2016, 02:10:51 PM
I got back access to my account, but the stats are gone. Now I have a brand new account, while it was 1.5 years old (which is often required for giveaways) with a few million bets. It now has 0 bets. Wagered went up a lot, but that doesn't do me any good unless I use faucet.
I'm still curious what happened to the database, did all account data disappear entirely?
26302  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help needed about paypal on: August 27, 2016, 01:57:06 PM
I have a stealth paypal account
This is where you went wrong. It's Paypal's core business to track fraudulent behaviour. Although I would like to have a Paypal account in a fake name, I know for a fact that sooner or later they'll close the account.
I am curious though where the money goes if they close an account like that.

PayPal is a nightmare for honest people too. Just try to use it with 2 currencies (EUR and USD) whiles neither is not your country's coin and you'll understand.
(They convert and convert your money, charging a lot for it, obviously, and if you find the way to stop that they hard reset your settings)
This is indeed my experience. They try very hard to get an exchange rate for every transaction you make.
26303  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why is offering escrow bad? on: August 27, 2016, 01:42:27 PM
First of all, your Red Trust isn't from users who are in Default Trust 2, so it doesn't instantly show up.
Second: a lot of scammers try all sorts of things, not only escrow, but also trying to get a loan, or trying to give a loan and run with the collateral. This has resulted in many people being "paranoid" and giving Red Trust to anyone who attempts anything that could even remotely be a scam.

People who have been trying to build a reputation have been given Red Trust too, for the simple fact that - wait for it - they're trying to build a reputation!

For this reason, I haven't even tried starting an escrow service, although I wouldn't mind doing it.
26304  Economy / Services / Re: Escrow service now on: August 27, 2016, 09:04:10 AM
Have a look at the Bitcointalk Escrows list Smiley

For $14 I can do it too, up to you if you (and the other party) trust me with it. Unless it involves stuff like Paypal of course.
26305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How and why Steem failed ? on: August 27, 2016, 08:11:19 AM
I've even seen people in the introduction section writing how they quit their full-time jobs, etc...
That sounds more like part of Steem's marketing plan than actual real life people writing about it. And that worked of course: seeing someone earn $30k from writing an unimportant story on some unimportant website makes people think they can do it too. The problem there is only a few can earn a lot, the rest is just wasting their time.
I've has a look at it, pretending to be a great social network, while in reality it's a website designed to make the creators rich, and they decide exactly what you get to see.
And when it fails, the next thing will pop up. "Social media" and "smart contracts" are the new altcoins, only meant to make the creators rich.

Nothing wrong with getting rich out of it BTW, but it is important to realize when you use it. And it is especially important to realize when you decide to spend money on it.

26308  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 26, 2016, 02:28:21 PM
I lost my wallet dat but I still remember my bitcoin Address, can I recover it using vanity?

Help please.
You can't. If that would be possible, anybody could "recover" any Bitcoin address.
You may be able to recover your wallet.dat file, depending on how you lost it and how much you're willing to try (or pay).
26309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Megaupload + Bitcoins on: August 26, 2016, 02:25:27 PM
Has Kim said anything about re-implementing this system? I think he's big announcement is that somehow he's gonna develop a similar system like this in the past but with BTCBTCBTC payouts for uploaders.
Why would they pay uploaders? Torrents have enough uploaders without paying them. A service like Megauploads has much larger storage and bandwidth requirements than a torrent site, so why would they need to pay the uploaders?

Sometimes zendesk can mess up and we don't even get reply to a ticket. If you don't get reply after 48h feel free to submit ticket again.
This is crucial information!
I thought I was doing the right thing not following up so you guys have time to process all emails, but it has been 4 days. I've sent an email again (Ticket 15635).

26312  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin addresses FAST! on: August 24, 2016, 01:42:14 PM
be prepared to wait while it scans the blockchain for transactions (could take a while).  There is a noscan option for that command but it's inadviseable.  I think you would type false after your label.
I didn't know the noscan-option exists. "Noscan" would be okay if you import the address before depositing to the address, or if you want to import several addresses and scan them all at once afterwards (rescan 86 GB can take longer than creating the address).

It would be great if this also works with a "pruned" Blockchain, so you can still import vanity addresses without downloading the entire blockchain again.

Any idea what the exact command would be? I've tried several options (noscan, norescan, rescan=0, rescan=false), but it instantly says "Rescan is disabled in pruned mode". I don't want to rescan, I just want to import the address.
Someone posted the same idea on Github 2 weeks ago. I guess it's not possible yet.

In a way importing vanity addresses is the same as importing from cold storage. It has been tested on Reddit. Conclusion: It should be possible to get the balance without downloading the full blockchain again, but it's not (yet?) implemented.

Edit: I'm confused: somehow it did add a watch only address, but it says it requires a rescan to show the balance. I haven't been able to import the private key though.
Now I get what you meant! I did "importaddress 1something rescan false". It imports the address without rescan, and "rescan" is the label of the address. So I should import it useing "importaddress 1something Something false" to give it a more useful label.

After creating a Support Ticket, I've received a list with questions to get access again to my account.
Apparently my password is not enough. Does that mean the passwords got compromised? Or did break something in the database? I'm curious: what happened?
Password does not help us since all passwords are hashed and we cant see them.
A password can be converted into the hash, which is what always happened when I logged in. So my main question was/is: what happened to the database that my password is no longer enough to access my account?

We will come to it . We don't have many accounts left.
This was 2 days ago, what's the status now?

26316  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Locking a wallet so I can't withdraw coins on: August 23, 2016, 12:31:30 PM
I realized a possibility (the 1000 BTC giveaway gave me the idea):
1. You start saving Bitcoins in Address A.
2. You create a raw transaction sending 10 BTC 0.001 BTCfrom Address A to Address B.
3. Do not lose the private key for Address B!
4. Throw away (!) the private key for Address A (Remember: Satoshi recommends never to throw out a private key!)
Now, when you have exactly 10 BTC in Address A, you can broadcast the transaction.

I haven't tested it though. Try at your own risk.
I changed 10 BTC into 0.001 BTC because it feels too risky to do. I'm also not sure if you can use a raw transaction for inputs that are not in the address yet. So this may fail. But I'm curious to know if it can work.

999dice, you can find more reason why this is a scam and rigged site in this thread (link) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=948965.0
They used to show the site's profit along with the total wagered. Dividing wagered by profit showed the house edge was about 4 times higher than advertised.
Now they stopped showing their profit.
