2641  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Auction/Sell] qcu.co - My Post Raided... on: March 09, 2013, 12:21:01 AM
gweedo, it doesn't matter how he proved it.  You didn't say in the agreement that he had to use a SPECIFIC site.  You said that if he proved it was worth $400, then you'll pay him.  Simple as that.

Also, if you didn't want the domain for 25 btc, why'd you post the offer??

That is like saying, here is my Toyota, I am selling it for $60K, and my proof that is worth that is because on craiglist that is what it says it worth, when you have posted the ad. Doesn't make sense. I posted the offer, cause I knew he would never find a site saying it was worth that. Yes it was my mistake I should have said it has to be real site that knows how to domain pricing and can't be your ad, but I thought he would know that. Come on I have brought and sold hundreds of domains, this guy is obviously a con and I offered 1.7btcs at that time more then enough. If anyone things I am going to send 25 BTC for a 5 character domain they are nuts, I tried to make a fair offer, but he obviously wants to con some newbie, which I am very much not in this area.

Hey you think I scammed him, both you can open scam accusing against me go right ahead.
Um, what are you talking about?  You're saying he owns estibot.com?  He didn't make that appraisal, the site generated it.

He proved that the site was worth that by an independent appraisal conducted by estibot.com.  That's not anything at all like craigslist.

No the Sedo one is a marketplace and estibot is using CPC and keywords to calculate a price, which is two things that aren't taken into account when it is just the domain.

@ Gweedo

Just so you know, that appraisal site you gave says Google.com is worth <$5000 and so is ABC.com.

Remember we are talking just domains, and not the site worth, that is probably why it says they are less than $5000. Different things are taken into account with domains then sites.

gweedo, take my advise, look in google "How To apraisse a DOMAIN NAME", i gave you links for wikipedia... and yoo will not make a fool of yourself saying things like this...

I know how to appraise domains, and have done it many times. You clearly don't know cause your domain would have sold by now...
Yo gweedo, read http://www.wikihow.com/Appraise-Domain-Names.  It says "length is important."  It also says that keywords are important.

Why don't you stop being stubborn and admit you're wrong?  He's given evidence of why it's worth how much it is, and you've just said "I'm right because I'm right!'

He gave no evidence that it is worth that much, and second *FACEPALM* wikihow.com maybe good for math homework but this is the real world. Also I never said length wasn't important but just cause it is 5 characters doesn't make it worth $750+ and keywords aren't important when there is no site attached to it. I wish someone that actually knew domain appraisals would write in this thread, so I can just move on and you all know your wrong. Also just read the wikihow.com thing that is more if your buying a domain for an idea, not selling one.

Also if his domain was priced right why didn't it sell quickly? I made a fair offer, and the best offer, he didn't accept cause he was being a con-man and looking for a stupid newbie, and when a smart, business man appeared he got screwed, and I can't believe you people don't see that.

There

Interesting. I can't imagine why somebody would want the burden of being responsible for that much coin.

I agree, too much stress. I am stressed with my current ventures, I don't need some forum members attacking me all day cause I am holding forum funds. Just no win, win situation here.
2643  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MASTER'S SCAMMER LIST on: March 08, 2013, 09:24:34 PM
If your believing a guy with a dark yellow ignore button, you sir need to review the much better scam list that are by trustworthy members not some guy that tried to get 500BTCs from the forum funds, and then just became a whine kid, when everyone told him he couldn't.

Link/Cliffs on this?

Sure I will hold 500 btc in storage with out a full reserve requirement. I think you need 100% reserve but can be held in any accepted currencies in predetermined ratios.

"In MPT and TF's case, it is clear that the case belongs to the 2) realm. However, to make it clear and unbiased, both parties have to be under scrutiny, which is not in this case where only TF's name is in the 'list'. "

The burden of proof lies with the person who is providing the goods or services. MPT has been on the scammer list in the past and has been removed, because he proved to be trust worthy.

TF is the one who has the ability to quickly and easily resolve this issue and has chosen to pretend that he is beyond reproach.

Burden of proof is on the accuser.

You obviously have never owned a business or been involved in a legal dispute about services or undelivered/ unusable products.

How old are you, 16? I have had several cases in small claims court accusing someone of breaking an agreement, both verbal and written. In each case I had to prove the agreement was broken and that I was damaged in some way. The judge told us both I had to prove my claims. Simply Google: "burden of proof in small claims court".
We aren't talking Paypal law where you can falsely file a charge back and get away with it. That was the point to an arbitrator, listen to both sides evidence and make a decision, not a list or poll.
You need to step off your "master's" list as you have clearly proven you have no clue what you are doing. It is also becoming clear you have some sort of agenda here, you are not interested in fairness or justice, only "Polls and Lists".

KWH, what is wrong with the bitcoin community trying to be vigilant against scams?  That is what this thread is.  I would venture to say that people who have a personal axe to grind against a particular bitcoin community member are in the minority.  I would rather say that people who make these types of posts or lists have probably been scammed, or what they perceive to be scammed in some way, plus, they are interested in policing the bitcoin community to prevent a lot of unneeded stress and loss.  It is better to err on the side of caution since we are dealing with what most bitcoin members would consider money; bitcoin.  The irreversible nature of btc payments makes the community rather susceptible to scams and it is in our best interest to police it ourselves.

If your believing a guy with a dark yellow ignore button, you sir need to review the much better scam list that are by trustworthy members not some guy that tried to get 500BTCs from the forum funds, and then just became a whine kid, when everyone told him he couldn't.

San Mateo-based Boost VC offers not only pre-Seed investment, office space, and mentorship, but also housing, hosting all participants in an on-site hotel. The accelerator is currently accepting applications for its class beginning June 24, and, in an unexpected wrinkle, Draper has decided to focus part of the class on technologies associated with the Bitcoin virtual currency. He plans to admit five to seven Bitcoin-related startups out of the 15-company class.

Who are these five speak up?

I think this is my favorite so far:
This IS a good old boys club. This "contract" has ZERO force of law. Legally they could all just walk away with the forum donations. Just because you want to handle it in the community doesn't mean you should write a contract with no teeth and eliminate your OPTION for legal action. Also they get paid monthly fees, WTF is that? Plenty of people are willing to do it without charge. This looks to me like a jerking of the circular variety.

+1 really I think that theymos and the rest need to be added to the pending scammer list. I think I might put a poll about this and see how others feel.

No that whole thread is full of win with him LMAO

This is my favorite "Win" from me QWEEDO=DICK. Qweedo sucks.

LMAO at least try to be a little more funny and original, you just call me a dick and say I suck over and over, just shows your intelligence is below the average. LMAO
2649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTCJam on: March 08, 2013, 10:19:44 AM
What kind of credit rating do you say is safe? Are people with address and identity verified usually genuine?

I look at a lot of different things. Crediting rates are a good way to weed out the quick scammers, but you still need to do your homework. I would look at a lot of things, like interest rates, if they have a forum name what kind of post and time have they spent on the forum. Look for secured loans with stocks that back up the price for the loan. Just do research, and you should be fine, there isn't a defined formula that will weed out complete scammers.
2650  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 08, 2013, 10:15:33 AM
Also If they are giving up that means they are probably frustrated and sometimes it is the teacher that can cause that.

Sure - although they never even got as far as asking for help (basically just complained that they don't want to use GPG and would only join if it they could use their "Google" or "Facebook" accounts to login).

(a bit hard to teach someone that doesn't want to even learn)

Cheesy

Well that is true, but they will figure it out that it will be more and more important as there bitcoin career goes on.
2651  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 08, 2013, 10:09:11 AM
I have yet to see that, really.

And I have already had several people simply *give up* on joining CIYAM Open due to GPG - really!

(perhaps I should refer any future such people to you to get them somehow magically converted?)

It isn't magic, I just know how to teach GPG, which includes pointing them to software that will make it easy, what they will need to know in the command line. I really don't understand how they gave up GPG isn't a hard thing to learn to just use.

I actually taught a person IRC and GPG for bitcoin-otc and they gave up trying on their own, after I explain and held there hand showing them and explain exactly what they need to know, how to use it and what references will be a great deal of wealth to them.

Also If they are giving up that means they are probably frustrated and sometimes it is the teacher that can cause that.
2652  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 08, 2013, 09:58:11 AM
I don't think that the GPG software is particularly hard to use myself (compared to say configuring Email apps years ago) - but people just "don't want to bother with it" is the *real* problem (especially non-geeks).

I have yet to see that, really. I think a lot of people don't want to learn the "magic" behind it so they can understand what is exactly happening. But as gpg and bitcoin address signing and verifying are becoming more popular for contracts and GPG keys I am pretty sure if you sign it, are legal contracts so yeah, they aren't going anywhere. People better learn or be left in the dust.
2653  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 08, 2013, 09:41:02 AM
...I want to meet these people that can't use GPG keys I have taught maybe ~10 to ~15 that have that are not geeks by any means and they caught on quickly so may it was the way you were teaching them. IRC is just as easy as AOL IM today. ...
Sorry, gweedo, but you lost me with that remark. You might as well say that Linux is as easy for a customer to learn as Windows or Android.

LMAO considering that Android is linux based I would say it is easy, also have you ever installed Ubuntu it is insanely easy. IRC isn't just for the geeky of the geeks, actually most IRC are really user friendly. GPG keys the concept maybe tough, but the software again makes it very easy to use. I really don't see how these things are hard for people now of days.
2654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about Verifying Database entries on: March 08, 2013, 08:53:26 AM
To do what your saying, could be done in mysql, hash the username, and balance together, then have a very secure, and long salt, to make sure nothing can be changed.
2655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin client that doesnt use so much bandwidth? on: March 08, 2013, 07:35:06 AM
You can also just set the max connections to 8 in the bitcoin.conf file, that should help with the high bandwidth.

Code:
maxconnections=8
2656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the bitcoin community ban the Satoshi Dice filter patch? on: March 08, 2013, 06:53:30 AM
I never played Satoshi Dice, don't care for it. I think of it as another bitcoin business, but the funny thing is if you ban Satoshi Dice, what stops other similar services from just doing the same thing. This is just the silliest thing, yet this what makes bitcoin great. You don't want Satoshi Dice transaction apply the patch, voting with your software. So I am kinda indifferent it shows the power of bitcoin but yet Satoshi Dice is another bitcoin business, who now have investors so this is really bad for them.

Bitstamp

why change? what is wrong with mtGox?

Nothing, but they are moving the USA/BTC trading to the states to another site, and also mt gox trading engine is kinda slow. This is a good chance to try new services, and break up the monopoly a bit.

I am a lender on their, very good service. But if you have no idea how to spot a scammer, then this service ain't for you. A lot of people get butt-hurt cause they want the site to be their parents and fix there mistakes when investing in scams. Just do your homework and you can make some good money. Good Luck!
2660  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing TimeScramble.com - FREE Bitcoin! on: March 08, 2013, 01:50:18 AM
You can create a transaction that checks current block number in its script and when it is higher than some particular number (which you are able to calculate) it will transfer funds from one address to another.

I've heard about this, can you link me to more info? would appreciate it a lot.

I think he is talking about this https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Script but I think it isn't enabled in any clients yet, the information about it is very rare.
