2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your thoughts on ETF and its effect in crypto space on: May 06, 2019, 02:39:08 PM
Hey guys, i am really interested in this ETF. It's been a year since we i am hearing this. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think we are going to have an ETF? Cheers!

Months ago, there was this strong buzz about ETF and how its approval by SEC can trigger the dreamed bull run. But recently, I think people are already tired talking about and definitely many have accepted that ETF may not be happening soon. Therefore, many are now concluding that the bull run can happen without the ETF infrastructure in place. And I think that is a good development. We should be taking ETF as a bonus rather than the very heart of Bitcoin's survival and adoption.
2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A first person account of using Bitcoin in Venezuela on: May 06, 2019, 02:35:19 PM

I myself is not looking at Bitcoin as the be-all and end-all solution to many financial and economic ails that baffled humanity since time immemorial. What is clear is that Bitcoin can be useful in many ways. The problems that exploded in Venezuela are all complex and most of those problems started decades ago. We should be looking at it like the lens of an aid that can be helping in one way or another but will never solve the problems as they are rooted deep and wide. What here in Venezuela we can see how cryptocurrency can be utilized and can help people survive.
2643  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-05] Warren Buffett Calls Bitcoin A Gambling Device on: May 06, 2019, 11:40:17 AM
Quote
We know that Warren Buffett is super rich, he's a multi-billionaire and a philanthropist. But I do not believe everything he says is right. You guys, do you believe Bitcoin is a gambling device?!

In my opinion, money is a gambling device because that is the one we used in gambling. Now, right now, instead of the fiat money, one can easily use Bitcoin to do gambling online and offline. Therefore, Bitcoin can indeed be a gambling device...but am sure this is not what sir Warren Buffet is referring to. As to scams, yes that can be true but the same thing can be said about the Dollar or any fiat money for that matter. I am sure that Warren Buffet does not have anything to say really positive about Bitcoin because he does not really like it.
2644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Report: Google Search Volume and Tweets responsible for Bitcoin Price Surge on: May 06, 2019, 11:19:59 AM
Search volume its not affected to bitcoin price bro, if volume going high volume its mean many people is wait and see about bitcoin price after few weeks going up.

Stop connected something on search or other media with bitcoin price Smiley

Well, most people run into google and twitter whenever they look up for current events and news about cryptocurrency, which may directly or indirectly affect the market demand of cryptocurrency. Not to mention, crypto influencers and enthusiasts use social media platforms and online resourcess such as facebook, twitter, youtube, etc. which can also affect the market.

Somehow there is really a connection here. And I think this had been studied well during the bull run of 2017. Whenever there is a sharp increase of searches and mentions, there is a big possibility that Bitcoin or any crypto for that matter can be going up in price. And whenever the prices of a crypto is going up, there is also a possibility that people online can be talking about. So it can be a vice-versa kind of thing.
2645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook who planned on: May 06, 2019, 11:11:48 AM
After the banking giant JP Morgan Chase launched its own digital currency (JPM Coin), it was the social networking tycoon Facebook who planned to develop their own electronic money project, with participation of the 'big boys' have made the electronic money market more active and stimulated the need for more electronic money.
It is important to know that most banks and credit institutions now charge fees for services and this is the weak point for the electronic money project of "big men" with billions of users. "Create a" flat world "without charging for electronic payment transactions, giving users better security technologies (blockchain) and benefits.

Everyone is talking about Facebook and its plans about cryptocurrency or blockchain network. But there is no real announcement about it. Where did you hear or read this? A few weeks ago, Facebook's CEO M. Zuckerberg talked in F8 Developers meeting. But he didn't mention about cryptocurrencies. If he has a thought about it, wouldn't he mention in that meeting?

There is a big possibility that Facebook does not want to announce anything prematurely...maybe at the right time when things are clearer and with infrastructure already ready then Mark can say about it. Facebook can just be careful as it does not want to push people to conclude something adversarial on this possible move. I am sure that Facebook is really looking into the blockchain and cryptocurrency development and see how the social media conglomerate can fit in and make things better. Once things are ready, this can be creating a big splash in the corporate world and in the world of cryptocurrency because we know that Facebook is big, influential and very powerful...but then again it is the marketplace that can decide on this matter.
2646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using crypto to help the homeless - (for real - with pics!) on: May 06, 2019, 11:05:49 AM
Raising funds for the benefits of others who really needs a help is very interesting. I've been wondering also on how I can do this kind of action.
I really love helping others especially those people that really needs our help so they can at least start to believe that world is not that one sided.

Keep doing on what you have started, I know that raising funds is not that easy because many will surely doubt whether you are genuine or not knowing that there are plenty of scammers everywhere.

Indeed, if we will have more and more people doing charitable actions using cryptocurrencies then maybe we can counteract the bad image some people may have on this industry due to many scams and failures the market experienced so far. Helping others means that we continue on believing in the future of humanity. Sharing even a little can go a long, long way in providing a lifting arms for people who are really in need. It is sad that even in many developed countries, poverty pushed people to go homeless and with less access to basic societal services. But we can do something about it.
2647  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Could Hit The $6,000 Benchmark Soon on: May 06, 2019, 11:00:03 AM
Analysts believe that Bitcoin isn't far from achieving the $6,000 price mark in the coming days.

Full article: https://www.unblock.news/market/bitcoin-could-hit-6-000-benchmark-soon

I am expecting that Bitcoin can be hitting the $6K mark finally within this week or it not then by next week at the most. There is now a building magma waiting for explosion within the Bitcoin marketplace...hopefully this can be a big signal that the bull run is now slowly coming true and that Bitcoin will keep on growing towards the 3rd and 4th quarters of the year. The next question is: Will it be able to successfully get over the $10K hurdle before the end of 2019?

2649  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BTC worth $1M confiscated in Canada ruling on: May 05, 2019, 01:26:49 PM
https://micky.com.au/bitcoin-worth-1-million-confiscated-in-canada-over-landmark-ruling/

Bitcoin worth over $1 million has been confiscated by a judge in Canada's Supreme Court. The ruling came after the judge brought CEO of CipherTrace that performs tracing operations on crypto to notice illegal activities where it was indeed found the case was dealing on the dark web with BTC.

“(The case) forced agencies to start thinking about cryptocurrency investigations as a reality more than a possibility.”

thoughts?
This is actually good if we see it in a positive manner. If governments are confident that investigations can be performed upon cryptocurrency cases and the person involved in scam can be proved guilty then governments might even think of making BTC legal in their respective countries. Because Anonymity is a big reason why most of the governments are against this.

However, if we see from one end then this means that BTC was never that anonymous and anyone can be traced out using different types of blockchain explorers and data. Moreover with advent of KYC even people can be identified linked with different addresses.

Time and time again, it is already proven that anonymity is getting to be a myth as far as Bitcoin is concerned. A deep investigation can uncover details which can implicate a person doing illegal transactions on the dark web or anywhere. In this case, the reason why Bitcoin was confiscated because of the owner's illegal activities. However, if the guy used the US Dollar then the same fate can happen. Indeed, this can be a big lesson to anyone never to assume that just because Bitcoin is used then he can get away from the reach of the laws of the land.

2650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2018-04-26]Volkswagen, BMW, Ford, Renault: Why World’s Car Manufacturing Giants on: May 05, 2019, 08:31:46 AM

There are now many proven platforms ready for use by many companies so that can be able to track their materials. This can help improve the quality of materials being used and the time it can take for them to arrive at the facilities. The more big companies do adopt the technology, the more that other leaders do the same. There are many believers in the blockchain technology and how it can put more quality into what they are doing and to partly lessen the cost of manufacturing and even the delivery of the products to the marketplace. I believe that blockchain technology is just starting to get discovered by many organizations and soon we will see how things can turn out.
2651  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [05-03-2019] Bitcoin-Gold Price Correlation Shows Widest Spread in Over a Year on: May 05, 2019, 08:20:41 AM
just a suggestion, you might want to delete some part of your post above as it explicitly shows that you either copy the content from some newsfeed or from an article directly without no editing and just adding the source at the end of your post.

So far, the physical gold has been growing so slow and maybe boring for some but still in terms of marketcap physical gold remains to be on the top. I am seeing that Bitcoin and physical gold to be sitting side by side in many investors' portfolios.

it will rise when we see more crisis and heavy inflation which might happen sooner than we think.

Yes, that is quite expected. During crisis of any nature especially one that has potential to disrupt global alignments, physical gold can be so attractive because it is more stable and more solid. Now, some are predicting the same for Bitcoin and this remains to be seen since there had been no big financial crisis that hit within the 10 years history of Bitcoin. Once there will be a big crisis, I am wondering if people will go for physical gold, the Bitcoin or stablecoins?
2652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2018-04-02] Russian Gazprom to use blockchain technology on: May 05, 2019, 08:15:45 AM
blockchain is just a way of storing and organizing your data
Gazprom is planning to introduce it , but it doesn't mean that Russia has suddenly become bitcoin friendly or passed some law regulating cryptocurrencies
and as we all know with Russia , any news regarding crypto coming from it is considered rumors until proven
talks of cryptorouble and banning/legalizing crypto has beein going on for ages there , yet there is no progress to be seen

Just like China, Russia is open to the idea of the blockchain technology but never Bitcoin or cryptocurrency all because they can have a hard time controlling that side. With blockchain technology, they can adopt and customized it according to what they want, call it a blockchain technology and make sure that the control is on their hands. Well, some can be saying that this is not blockchain technology at all and we will see in the coming years how development will be forming.

2654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still bother to engage non Bitcoiners? on: May 05, 2019, 04:24:49 AM
I was perusing another forum today with a long running cryptcurrency thread. To my non amazement they're still debating the nature of the whole thing in the exact same way they were 2-3-4-5 years ago. The same people are waiting to be convinced. The same people are trying to convince them. This strikes me as a complete and utter waste of calories. I'd rather let people believe what they want. Me convincing them won't help anyone. They're not going to convince me of anything. My attitude is - crypto is here. You may as well sit back and see what happens as nothing I do, say or listen to will change it. Are you still embroiled in debates with friends and internet creeps or have you let it slide?

Apparently, there are some people who have the zeal of religious followers and they will not stop until they can convince unbelievers into their side. This is unnecessary and can even make Bitcoin cheap and maybe even cultist. The best thing to do is just refer people to different sources of reliable information and give the person the freedom if he wants to join the Bitcoin bandwagon or maybe decide things later. Sure, this means that there will be slow growth but if it is steady and solid then we have nothing to worry about. This is not a recruitment program, anyway.
2655  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Have 1 BTC in alts should I transfer all to BTC on: May 05, 2019, 04:03:03 AM
It sounds like you are trading intermediately or as a swing. It's hard to predict this market, but generally the alts perform better during bull markets, and bitcoin tends to lead the charge and be more stable. While you may gain more percentage-wise with the alts mentioned, bitcoin is more of a sure bet according to many analysts. It's really up to you, because there is always a chance bitcoin may take up a greater percentage of the total market than previously due to investors fleeing to safety. No one can give you the right answer, because the market is too uncertain.

In my opinion, the best thing to do is to stake half of one's portfolio with Bitcoin and then the rest with many good altcoins out there. Now, again this is my own opinion and I am not a good trader or investor myself. Bitcoin is not perfect and certainly there can be better alternatives on the market right now but this is a matter of trust and patronage -- a better alternative is nothing if only a few are into it. We have to remember that there have been outstanding products that did not make it to the market due to many factors -- the same thing with those Bitcoin alternatives. And when we are talking about bull run, it is always in relation to Bitcoin.
2656  Economy / Economics / Re: IMF and World Bank explore crypto merits with blockchain project on: May 05, 2019, 03:57:32 AM
Its a test Coin, somehow it will allow them to understand how cryptocurrency works. Maybe in the near future they Will upgrade their system by using cryptocurrency to help them speed up their transactions.

Actually, the IMF and the World Bank is exploring also the idea of them issuing their cryptocurrency that can compete with Bitcoin but this time around under their own control and direction. However, they will see that it can just be an impossible dream as people -- the general masses -- do not have the same level of trust and confidence with centralized cryptocurrency. The use of the blockchain though can be applied by anybody and by any organization and there will always benefit that can be derived at it if implemented well. Any organization that uses data can use the blockchain technology for good.
2657  Economy / Economics / Re: New recession is around the corner on: May 05, 2019, 03:52:00 AM
Last big recession was in 2007 and the next one is long overdue.

This next one is going to be on a much larger scale and last longer than we expect. The signs are all around us. First, the Avengers Endgame was so hyped and in the end it was disappointing. Game of Thrones final season was hyped and so far very disappointing. Star Wars will probably be disappointing as well. All of them have a huge budget yet they somehow went on and made a crappy production. Why? They know the recession is due and they are saving money everywhere they can.

I am thanking you for this post as it woke me up from dreaming of watching The Avengers in the movie house...finally I am able to save some money that I am using to buy Bitcoin in preparation for that Big One Recession. Seriously, I actually believe that soon the global economy can be into some form of a big catastrophe. There are now many signs and soon we shall experience all the fruits of bad decisions made by many big governments in managing their economies and finances. I am hoping there can be a movie soon that is dealing with this economic malady and how we can be avoiding them on personal level.
2658  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is urgent. Argentina is printing free money too on: May 05, 2019, 03:41:35 AM
"The big guys are doing it, why can't we do it too?"

Why does the US get to print money to save their banks? Why does China pump their stock market by printing more money whenever the stocks dip? This may be the beginning of the new crash: every country out there decides they want to do quantitative easing too.

US banks got bailed out, why can't governments get bailed out?  See where this is going?

The idea that a country can just be printing more money to solve economic ailments can be so damaging on the long-term. Yes, it can be helping the tide for the main time but its side effects can be felt by the people as time goes by. And this solution is not actually the one that can fix everything and will even make things worse especially those economies already suffering from hyper-inflation. More and more disasters can be coming to countries who are adopting this mistake. Ironically, these countries are great critics of America, yet they are following the same blunder. Isn't it funny but sad?
2659  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: GABAY UPANG MAIWASAN ANG RED TAG MULA SA PAG-PROMOTE NG KILALANG SCAM(FILIPINO) on: May 05, 2019, 03:30:27 AM
Thanks for this very informative content. Makaka tulong talaga ito para sa lahat kong paano maiwasan ang mga scam projects at para na rin ma iwasan ang pagkakaroon ng Red trust.. But I would like to add my opinion.

Now, a project can later on fail as there is no guarantee in this industry but at the very least the bounty manager has to make sure that at the beginning things are going well and above board. On our side, we also have to look at the projects and look for possible red flags and see what other members of the forum can be saying about it. Sadly, due to competition here, many bounty managers has the tendecny to take any projects that come their way without proper vetting and investigation first.
2660  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Planning to build minning rigs on: May 05, 2019, 03:13:14 AM

The general consensus is that Bitcoin mining here in the Philippines is not anymore profitable and can just be a big waste of money and time. I am suggesting that you explore other opportunities crypto-related or otherwise. Remember that here in the Philippines we have one of the highest electricity rates which even other industries are complaining about. Now, if you think mining can be good for you then try to look on mining alts instead.
