2661  Other / Meta / Re: is it just me, or is this forum pain-in-the-ass slow? on: April 11, 2013, 04:49:56 PM
So slow that I can't even moderate the forum and reply my PM's. Gonna get some sleep now...
2662  Economy / Lending / Re: Any one willing to take a chance with newbie without collateral on: April 11, 2013, 12:46:13 PM
Nobody is going to lose $900 to a newbie without reputation or collateral.

You can not have reputation but have collateral, or have reputation but not collateral. Missing both won't work.

Don't give PPUSD loans thinking you can chargeback! PayPal will not give you any money if the person already withdrawn!
This. For god's sake don't PM me afterwards asking for a tag if any turd get scammed again, especially in the lending section.
2663  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox gone again? on: April 11, 2013, 12:31:49 PM
https://mtgox.com/press_release_20130411.html

First of all we would like to reassure you but no we were not last night victim of a DDoS but instead victim of our own success!

Indeed the rather astonishing amount of new account opened in the last few days added to the existing one plus the number of trade made a huge impact on the overall system that started to lag. As expected in such situation people started to panic, started to sell Bitcoin in mass (Panic Sale) resulting in an increase of trade that ultimately froze the trade engine!

To give you an idea of how impressive things were here are some numbers that we would love to share with you guys:
- The number of trades executed tripled in the last 24hrs.
- The number of new account opened went from 60k for March alone to 75k new account created for the first few days of April! We now have roughly 20,000 new accounts created each day.

Due to these facts we have been busy working on improving things since last week and our team has been working around the clock to improve Mt.Gox to catch up with the demand. We will continue to release several updates today and in the coming few days to improve our system overall performance.

Also please note that we may have to close the exchange for two hours in the next 12 to 24hrs to add several new servers to our system.

Thank you for your understanding and continuous support!

Regards
Mt.Gox Co. Ltd Team.

Please just donate to the address in my sig.

And Tomatocage why are you asking to donate in your account what will you do with it. What you do is just put the newbies in your scammerrs list and say that your are helping the community. Are the newbies not a part of community. Such a big fool you are.
Nah, he's quite correct for almost 80-90% of his guesses. He's a credit to the community. Also, people who have gotten in his list can be and are removed if they prove to be legit. (See Shibaji for example)

Weren't you banned from this site?
He was banned some time ago for spam-begging.
2666  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Play by Play: Get GOX'd, Lose it all, come back IN the money... on: April 11, 2013, 07:24:14 AM
This is why trading during a MtGox fail like this is a bad idea... Daytrading during such times would get you wiped pretty easily as you're essentially trading blind.

Hi, I'm the creator of the San Francisco Bitcoin Social meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/San-Francisco-Bitcoin-Social/.

We're having a party in a few weeks to celebrate the $100 mark.

If any companies or Bitcoin-related services are interested in sponsoring the party, let me know!
Uh, you might want to change that to celebrate the $200 mark.  Tongue
2671  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 40 BTC Bet with Micon regarding BFL on: April 10, 2013, 08:49:14 AM
I am willing to bet up to 100 coins on this at 1:1

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=135914.0
A bet of a bet.  Shocked

On a side note, I don't think it's fair to ask the premium considering that the results aren't clear yet. A fair value would be around 15~BTC considering that you've only put 20 BTC on line. Anyone interested should just go 1:1 with someone else.

Anyone interested in this - remember to do your homework and always be on alert in the Bitcoin world.

I see this kind of posts/threads almost daily - yesterday it was a 'women' about leukimia and stuff on her first post. Even had the gall to repost it with a scathing PS after I deleted it too.  Roll Eyes

OP, if this is true, you have my utmost condolences, and remember that life has its ups and downs. Good luck with life.

2675  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: April 10, 2013, 08:28:40 AM
This service is taking up a couple hours of my time daily as I insist on using offline Armory for the additional security - so remember to tip your escrow!  Wink
2676  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: April 10, 2013, 08:27:08 AM
PS: Everyone's been asking about the fees and appropriate tips for this service. I appreciate a tip for the risk of holding the escrowed Bitcoins, and the time taken to facilitate every transaction. I do not have a fixed fee, but generally I receive 1-3% of the amount transacted, especially when a TX takes more than a few weeks.
2677  Other / Meta / Re: 500 Internal Server Error (nginx) on: April 10, 2013, 07:57:55 AM
Drat, I keep getting this too. I had to retype two long PM's that got lost, damnit!  Angry
2678  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: April 10, 2013, 06:49:11 AM
Greetings John K.!
I may be in need of your escrow services. I am trying to sell a Cairnsmore1 Quad XC6SLX150 board in the computer hardware marketplace. Would you be willing to help myself with escrow if needed as I know little about this process? Thank you for your help.

SilentSonicBoom
Just drop me a PM when you find a counterparty.
The procedure here is easy - I issue an escrow contract (see past pages for example), coins get sent to it, items are shipped, everything confirmed - I release. Otherwise I try to arbitrate based on the evidence given.

Thanks for the quick reply. I hope to sell it today. Thanks for the help!

NP, good luck with the sale.

2680  Economy / Economics / Re: What would YOU do? on: April 10, 2013, 06:28:02 AM
It depends on the entity I'm buying from, but if there's no negative reviews about the site, I am using my Bitcoins 100% of the time. It's easier for me to spend my coins then to grab my CC/PayPal account anyway.
