2681  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [05-03-2019] Bitcoin Jumps 4% to New 2019 High Boosted by $20,000 Trigger Indica on: May 04, 2019, 03:29:34 AM
Bitcoin’s strong performance comes amidst the iFinex scandal is being played out

Yep, it's a bit unexpected to rise this much right now, I was expecting a little dump before this.
Does it mean that the upwards pressure has build up so heavily so even a scandal like this doesn't stop it? Maybe. Is it only a pump? Maybe, although it would be strange.
Right now the current movement rises more questions than answers in my head.

This is a good indication that finally Bitcoin is not anymore listening to perceived bad news on the horizon. I think this same trend also happened towards the end of 2017. Does this mean that we are now on the verge of a possible bull run? Well, many are hoping so but as for me I prefer a slow yet steady growth so we can avoid so much speculations and overheating (similar to 2017). Right now, there is a very positive interest coming from different institutional investors and once they are on board we can expect solid growth for Bitcoin especially towards the 3rd quarter of 2019.
2682  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [05-03-2019] 68% of global Millionaires already invested or are planning to inve on: May 04, 2019, 03:25:36 AM
Investing in Bitcoin is cool and all, but if they don't believe in Bitcoin, they'll dump just as hard as they initially bought in.

I like the Grayscale's 'drop Gold buy Bitcoin' campaign ad. It's the first time a wealthy entity actually does high level marketing for Bitcoin, which is petty neat. Time will tell whether it will help them attract more capital, but it's at least raising awareness, making Gold bugs react to it in a not so friendly manner. Some people got their teeny weeny triggered. Cheesy

Grayscale at current levels holds $1.2 billion in Bitcoin, which is just over 210,000BTC. Not a joke.

These companies or entities are just looking at Bitcoin or cryptocurrency for that matter as investment vehicle or a way to make some fast money...and of course there is nothing wrong with it as this is an open market and they are doing the same with stocks, forex or other tools. Since they have the money to invest and the platform to do it at the touch of the button, they are presented with good opportunities to make some good bucks here. These are the people that can pump and likewise dump any digital asset anytime.
2683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this GotSatoshi.com? New drama unfolding? on: May 04, 2019, 03:21:19 AM
Well this just looks like another drama and another one of the attention seeking news. I wonder who would he reveal after the count down maybe just another random names. But if it is true that they would unveil Satoshi then they need a solid proof that they are really unveiling the true creator of Bitcoin.

This can definitely be another promotional type of thing. The site is sowing intrigues so that people can be glued on their seats while waiting what can happen soon. Will there be the real Satoshi Nakamoto to come out of nowhere and announce something on the site? Or will it be just a presentation of a program that we can be a part of? Anyway, this is a mark of some creativity so let's just leave this whole thing as it is and just wait of what can be. Maybe this can be worth of some laugh soon -- providing us some free entertainment.

2685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is blockchain a perfect solution? on: May 04, 2019, 02:54:30 AM
We live in a world where our online IDs are in the hands of the government and banks, and we rely on them to keep it secure. Blockchain IDs on the other hand, put you and you only in control. Therefore, you can store all your passwords and any other personal information on the blockchain, eliminating the need of passwords in everything. In the future, these ID services could be applied to government services, medicines and any other record keeping agency. Blockchain system exist to combat greed and middlemen and to give individuals ultimate control of their identity and activity. In a blockchain future, we will see a world where our medical records are immediately available if we are in an accident; where online voting was possible; and where transparency was paramount and greed is disincentivized.

Human history is always riddled with insatiable greed and selfishness resulting into conflicts and problems which ordinary people like you and me can experience. This was true before and sadly this is even truer these days. Good thing that this weakness of human nature is partly addressed by the blockchain technology but then again just like any man-made invention nothing is really perfect here. We have the capacity to make things complicated and hopefully blockchain can sort things out. In my own opinion, the blockchain technology can be a big leap for humanity but still this is not the cure-all for all the ailments humanity can be into.
2686  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-03] New all time high for bitcoin in 2019! on: May 03, 2019, 02:10:25 PM

There is no question that things are starting to get very exciting with Bitcoin in the past many days and there is a big possibility this can escalate into a winder and bigger upward growth within this month and into the next quarter of the year. Though this can still not be the bull run that others are waiting for, the growth remains to be amazing and can be the trigger for more institutional money coming into the Bitcoin ecosystem. Congrats to traders and ordinary Bitcoin holders who made some money today.
2687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Htc Reveals Plans For New Gen Blockchain Smartphone In 2019 on: May 03, 2019, 02:05:24 PM

The HTC executive was quoted by the Central News Agency saying that the value of blockchain as analogous to the commercial value of petroleum from the early 20th century, in terms of the impact he expects blockchain to make on a global economic scale.

This is a very positive outlook for the blockchain technology by people of a smartphone company and of course since these are leaders of a big industry they must be talking with facts and vision on their heads. I am sure that right now competing organizations are also looking into how they can similarly capitalize on this development. Soon this exciting outlook can be spreading to other industries and organizations. There is no question that the blockchain technology as pioneered by Satoshi Nakamoto is now spreading like a wildfire.
2688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Britain keeps the penny but micropayments might promote crypto adoption on: May 03, 2019, 11:41:39 AM

The marketing side in Bitcoin is something that is really lacking. This is in my opinion a big disadvantage for a decentralized platform. As in anything, there is a need for a marketing strategies. On this matter, there must be an effective and less costly way for people to spend Bitcoin on products and service below $1. This can be helping towards more Bitcoin adoption everywhere. And of course, can push for more merchants to join the Bitcoin bandwagon.
2689  Local / Pilipinas / Re: The Complete Satoshi (Tagalog) on: May 03, 2019, 11:34:17 AM

Anyway, it is good to see the man in focus and see the kind of mindset he got but then the most important thing is that we now have the blockchain and the Bitcoin as his gift to humanity.
2690  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ang Kasaysayan ng Bitcoin (Must See) on: May 03, 2019, 11:27:02 AM

Napakakulay ng kasaysayan ng Bitcoin at patuloy pa ang pamamayagpag nito lalo na ngayon na marami ang umaasa na malapit na talaga ang tinatawag na "bull run" na siguradong maging malaking balita pag nangyari na. Bitcoin is a game-changer in the world of finance as it is now considered as a digital gold. Bitcoin though is not perfect and there are many issues and challenges that it has to face head-on but overall the Bitcoin experience is quite amazing. Thanks to the man  Satoshi Nakamoto for introducing Bitcoin to the world.
2691  Local / Pilipinas / Re: How do bitcoin scams and negative news about cryptocurrencies affect the market? on: May 03, 2019, 11:05:24 AM
Gaano nga ba kalaki ang impact ng mga scams at mga negatibong balita tungkol sa bitcoin? Ano sa palagay niyo mga kababayan?

In the long-term, news of scams and schemes that used Bitcoin as their medium of exchange will not be affecting the viability and adoption of Bitcoin but on the short-term yes things like this can push Bitcoin away from them especially with people who just love to read and hear the headlines without going into the real details of the whole thing. I still believe that bad publicity cab be better than no publicity at all because this can somehow get some people to research Bitcoin more on the internet...unlike before when the only source of information can be TV, radio or print.
2692  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-02] New Investor Campaign Calls to Prepare for Future, Replace Gold wit on: May 03, 2019, 06:46:58 AM
I read the Forbes article earlier today, and it talks about Grayscale holding 1.2% of all the Bitcoin in circulation. Couldn't verify that myself, but does anyone know if they really have 176k++ BTC in custody? That's one big ass piece of whale even if they're only managing it for clients.

The #dropgold ad I watched is a little silly. Silly people in Armanis running like they've never actually run in real life. I tell you, if someone gave me a cart of gold bars I'd take it instead of going to Grayscale to "buy Bitcoin" only so that they can "take care of it for me".

I actually have the same reaction myself. Why not give the gold to me so that I can sold them for some charitable activities and some investments? But then the message is that people should start now taking a look at Bitcoin and not anymore with traditional safe haven like gold. The new gold is here called Bitcoin though it is so volatile like hell (an opportunity as well as risk rolled into one). Still, it is good to see an ad focusing on Bitcoin and the many things it can do for all of us.
2693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gold vs Fiat on: May 03, 2019, 06:32:39 AM
I do not see the point of this post. Yes, you outline some cons and pros, but is that what really matters? For me, what matters is if it has legality and if it is readily accepted by everyone. But for now, those are not yet true in bitcoin.

Bitcoin can still be considered to be very young therefore its adoption is not yet that massive...but hopefully as years go by people and organizations can see its real value and would want to be a part of the Bitcoin bandwagon. There are many obstacles and opportunities as well on the road towards Bitcoin success. I am sure that fiat and gold will still be here to stay but Bitcoin can be moving upwards too. Time is coming when big institutions and even governments would choose to ally with Bitcoin for different grounds and reasons and by that time we can see Bitcoin rise as the best star in the world of finance and international commerce.
2694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian Govt thinks Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme on: May 03, 2019, 06:16:20 AM
Most countries of the world are now moving towards crypto regulations and that to me is a welcome development since cryptocurrencies will not be outrightly ban which is almost impossible. The Indian government is already on this bill since 2018 and uptil now nothing have been done in regard to that. The most aspect the government is interested in is in the area of security of investors found and tax.

What is so clear to someone with an open mind is that Bitcoin can be the digital gold and therefore has value on its own that can rise and fall depending on the market...precisely like gold or stocks or forex. How can this be a ponzi scheme when nobody is paid using the money that newcomers are paying? Yes, Bitcoin can be used in many pyramid schemes or programs online or offline in the same money that dollar can be utilized as the medium of exchange in any scam program (which does not make the dollar a ponzi).
2695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is a Bitcoin Millionaire on: May 03, 2019, 06:11:31 AM
I'm pretty sure anyone here or anywhere that holds thousands of bitcoins prefer to not expose themselves. That's pretty much just like asking to be kidnapped or to be targeted by hackers.

Grin Agree, one of the main reasons why people loved bitcoin decentralization is due to anonymity. Crypto millionaires feel secured because they can store as much as they can without getting their identity disclosed.

There was a case here in our country were a woman involved in crytocurrency got robbed at home and killed, which I think happened last 2017.

That is why it is best to remain anonymous even if you are just holding a decent amount of bitcoin, for your own safety.

Though Bitcoin wallet and transactions are actually available to everyone's scrutiny...owners can remain anonymous if nothing can connect them to the accounts. Once there is the connection then certainly the address can anymore be anonymous and this is why many are calling Bitcoin not really private. With so much sophisticated tracking technology we already have in the market, it is good to be always careful at all times. Thieves are getting to be intelligent and there are people with genius minds who are choosing to trudge the dark side in using their talents and knowledge.
2696  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [05-03-2019] Coinbase CEO Suggests Using USDC Stablecoin Instead Of Tether on: May 03, 2019, 04:08:07 AM

They are not real articles. They might be paid for promotional ads that are made to appear like news articles.

I am sure they are promotional articles published in order to make the buzz what they are offering and to gain more share of the market taking away from Tether more business volume and loyalty. This and more is happening because the competitors are aware that Tether is weakening and they are waiting for the time when Tether loyal users will be cutting the umbilical cord and make the massive exodus away from the Tether ecosystem. The stablecoin market is very big and there are many big players on the market with many backed by bigger parent companies. The ultimate winners here hopefully are the users of such stablecoins as they are being offered with better and more transparent services and products.
2697  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-03] Bitcoin Set To Get Back Above $5,500 As The Market Bulls Resurge on: May 03, 2019, 03:56:15 AM
Quote
Currently, Bitcoin (BTC) has reached 2.01% for $ 5,517.37 and a trade volume of $ 14,628,591,182 in the last 24 hours. Do you think it will reach $ 5,700 mark or maybe it's going to surpass that level?

That is not impossible though it could also go the other way around. One thing for sure with Bitcoin is its unpredictability but right now there is that overall positive feeling that the price is really going upward and so there is a big possibility that this overall market impression can pull Bitcoin even towards the psychological barrier of $6K. This can really be the start of something good as more and more "investors" are noticing the climb and they don't want to be left behind in the surge. Bitcoin right now a great opportunity to make good money.
2698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: shortest way to explain blockchain to a noob. go: on: May 03, 2019, 03:46:10 AM

Explaining to someone who has not yet heard about the blockchain and all the things connected to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for that matter on the shortest time is not really possible. But you can introduce the concept to him so that he will be the one to research for himself. So what we can do is whet his appetite for more information. And the best site for him to know more is this forum. So I would say that the blockchain is the platform where the financial power is being returned to the people...interested to know more just visit bitcointalk.org.
2699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto thefts, fraud hit $1.2 billion in Q1 report on: May 03, 2019, 03:22:02 AM
Don't think that normal businesses have no fraud, they also steal hundreds of millions, banks do it, businesses of all types do it, investment businesses do it. Just because the headlines are like that for crypto it doesn't mean it only happens here. There is MASSIVE fraud out there not involving crypto, billions and billions of dollars, if we knew the real figure it would make the 1.2b seem like dust.

Frauds are everywhere online and offline and this is one big reality the modern world is facing. There are now more fraudsters, hackers, scammers, thieves and similar people than any other time in human history. The snake that pushed Eve to ate the other tree in the garden had produced so many offspring and they are now populating the world...and right they are getting in love with cryptocurrency as the possible stakes are really good. Hell, even North Korea is also taking a big slice of the pie on the stealing market. The only reason why loss in the world of cryptocurrency can always land in the news is because cryptocurrency is something new (in comparison to the fiat system) and something new can always arouse more eyeballs.
2700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Traditional Payment Processors on: May 03, 2019, 03:08:49 AM
In large transactions, yes, bitcoin could be useful and viable to move funds around easily, but if we're talking about instant and fast payments, other cryptocurrencies might be useful and sort of preferable in those situations. Of course, current payment processors would surely adapt the technology embedded on different blockchains and better themselves, creating a payment ecosystem with wider options and safe alternatives for the consumers to use.

I am looking forward to the time when consumers will have wider choices as far as moving funds and similar services are concerned. I am also thinking that big payment processors which command the biggest shares of the market will one day introduce their own "Bitcoin-like platform" and see how people will be reacting into it. Definitely, these platforms can never be decentralized and can never be like Bitcoin but with their financial muscles intact these firms can market their offerings to the global market effectively. Bitcoin has no such marketing strategy as of press time.
