No lag. Why?
2703  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 15, 2013, 09:40:38 PM
Its the same story as always. They didn't care to even throw a number in it.
We will see.

Nell'improbabile caso che arrivassi pure io alla stazione, c'è qualche automunito che mi verrebbe a prendere? Smiley
Si.
2705  Local / Raduni/Meeting (Italiano) / Re: Meeting a Padova on: April 15, 2013, 05:56:37 PM
Dato che c'è una chiara unanimità sul Doodle per il 28 Aprile (Domenica) direi che la data viene spostata a domenica 28.
Confermate.

Confermato.

Ora, confermate tutti per favore Smiley

Could somebody tell me how much bandwidth an Avalon consumes in KB/s? My connection is 800 KB/s down and 100 KB/s up, but is also needed for browsing, downloading etc.

Jesus, where do you live?
In a third world country, like italy. I have the same connection (well, i have 3 of that connections, bounded togheter to have something somewhat usable).

The stratum protocol should use something like 1Kbps or 1KBps, not sure.

Why during the 2011 crash the price rested stable at around 15 and now is holding at around 100?
What do these psicological levels have to do with the behaiviur after a crash?

Ok, they are back from the holidays.
Now what?

I tried to draw a graph to discover the most probable newsletter time, but i got no tangible result. So, again, and for a lot of time to come probably, we can only wait.

Batch #2 LoL? I'm and others still not received units from batch #1...
Demoralization post of the week.

Why did you upgraded the PSU?

Try to hold the yubikey button for a few seconds instead of simply touching it.
2715  Economy / Economics / My toughs about the current exchange problem on: April 14, 2013, 12:47:43 PM
I just inserted this as a reddit post, but since that it's my first time as a reddit user, i will crosspost it here. Just to be sure that i spent time to write something people will read Wink

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1cbm4q/my_toughs_about_the_current_exchange_problem/

Quote
  • we can't create a distributed exchange, so we need a distribution of exchanges
  • theoretically, we need something like 100 exchanges, geographically distributed, each one doing 1% of the volume. Exchanges doing more than 5% should stop accepting new accounts, increase the trading fees for their actual customers and be boycotted by the community.
  • each exchange should be running something like the Buttercoin-whatever trading engine, what's important is that they all share some compatible APIs, and that they don't have scaling issues with php-based trading engines
  • since that the liquidity is shared among these exchanges, established exchanges should cooperate to provide additional liquidity for the single user of the single exchange. This should be made easier using the same base platform. Theoretically, the user of a little exchange with 1% of the volume should be able to do a market sell or buy for 10% of the daily volume without any problem, taking bids and asks from the remaining 99 exchanges. The exchanges would regulate themselves the fiat and btc payments during the following 24 hours, since that they trust each other. Something like a common bank account used for escrow should be possible to guarantee exchanges against each other.

As many of you, i tough about this for a while (well, not really that much, like, before sleeping for a few days) and this is the best solution that come to my mind.

It doesn't have a single point of failure, it should be scalable to the infinity and beyond, the final users can access to the whole (or big majority) of the market, maybe even doing cash deposits to the exchange whose HQ is 100km away from their homes.

The downsides are:

  • the exchanges should trust each another for fiat and/or have common bank accounts, i think that this should be possible
  • since that this way forces to a decentralization of the trading, existing exchanges won't have any incentive to migrate to the new platform, hence, this project (if feasible, i'm asking for your opinion about this), will probably never take off.

I don't have any direct experience with any of these other FPGA vendors, so i really can't recommend one, i'm sorry.

However, https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#FPGA
2718  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: is modminerquadstore.com legit ? on: April 14, 2013, 08:40:30 AM
It's not legit.
Thanks for asking.

scam ?
The owner started an asic venture (bASIC) and failed to delivery. A lot of people of this community is still owned a lot of money on preorders. So, i wouldn't order from him.

You can look up the wiki for some fpga alternative if you wish.

OK, I had a dream tonight. It was bitsyncom holding a conference, batch 2 is already built and will start shipping tomorrow in a fast way, just like the newsletter that announced the delays said.

What a dream, I wake up immediately.
