Not sure if he's trolling, or spamming with his sale on someone else's topic.

You can block specific users' signatures with adblock.
|
|
|
Even then a virus can modify the transaction which you transport to the offline PC
That's why you take one more look at it before blindly (pun unintended) signing & broadcasting it.

I need this thing for my parents as soon as possible, cause I clean out viruses from their system pretty much every other month!
They can still store the bitcoins on an offline PC, use it to for tx signing, and use the online PC for broadcasting the transactions.

OK, I got it. But still, why are you trying to find some shit of this company? If they are cheating why don't they hide their names and why do they post own pics in the news? Why do they answer phone calls and emails and say: please come and visit us if you have any doubts.
Has anyone actually met them? It's one thing to claim something, and another thing to do it. I'll be less skeptical when I hear from fairly reputable forum members that they received their miners, or at least made this company a visit. BTW, you do know how strange it looks for you to post your first post in this topic, and at the same time be willing to defend hashcoins so readily?

Was there 2 factor auth?
Probably not going by this " the theft was almost certainly due to poor security". Blockchain is pretty safe if you use all the security features. 2FA won't help if the malware is going to wait until the wallet is decrypted after the owner logs in.

This is why many ask for collateral greater than the value of the loan request.
Selling collateral for BTC takes some time (and time = money), and the collateral can diminish in value over time, so by asking for collateral of greater value than the loan, the lender is at least sure he won't lose any money.

I can't imagine lending anyone more than a couple bitcents on dox collateral alone. It is just too easy to steal or buy someone else's ID, and even if someone used their real ID, why would I want to bother with the hassle of collection? Especially when it is very likely that the lendee lives in a different country.

As a mod here I don't want to intervene too much, and tell people how they should do business, and your proposed changes won't stop people from scamming and getting scammed .
In the past one had to make 4 posts and stay online for 4 hours (cumulatively) to be able to post outside the newbies' section, now it's 1 post & 4h. The 50 posts requirement to post in Marketplace wouldn't be much of a deterrent because there are plenty of people that post more than that daily, it would make more sense if it was based on Activity but I would still be against such measures as it would only stop the laziest and the most obvious scammers.

I was just talking to them and they asked me to provide:
btc-e id: btc-e.support: Pass: btc-e.support: Email: btc-e.support: Pass: btc-e.support: Depposit via ?
Why do they need my btc-e password AND my email address password?
and the email address they gave me to respond to was btc-e_support@hotmail.com
I'm not giving them my passwords over skype, or at all.
I hope you haven't given them any info.

This kind of pretending to know what's best for one's own users is what really annoys me on blockchain.info.
Also defaulting to non-English and badly translated versions of the site while connecting from IP addresses assigned to non-English speaking countries.

it was a bank wire transfer. I did not even think about escrow.....my own fault. Yes, I made a dumbass noob mistake. Trust me.....I am feeling the pain of regret.
Have you tried contacting your bank if they would agree to reverse the transfer? Not very likely for them to agree but sometimes it may be possible.

I have emailed him but have so far received no response after four weeks.

Have you tried contacting them about this first?
If you can't resolve this with bitpop, try contacting CanaryInTheMine about this as he is part of the DefaultTrust, and bitpop is on his Trust list. CanaryInTheMine doesn't seem to be a troll like bitpop so if the accusations are unfounded then he might decide to remove bitpop from his Trust list.
As for Goat, he is not a part of DefaultTrust, nor is he on a Trust list of any member of the DefaultTrust so if you'd like to have him remove the negative feedback, you will need to ask/negotiate with him to do so.
