If God do exist, and God reveals himself, there will be a way for mortals to become god. Then God is just a more powerful mortal. God is only God if no one can be certain of its existence, and can only exist in people's hearts.

God reveals Himself to us in the machinery of nature.

The way for mortals to become God is to take part of His divine holiness. As soon as we fail, we fall away from being God. God always is Himself even if we are part of Him.

Just like a cellphone, there should be a creator to do that and like a house, there should be a creator to do that. Hence, in our world, universe, and all life that exist, there should be a one supreme creator in order to do that, and that supreme creator is God.

Why? Why there should be a creator? If you follow this concept, one could assume that there should be a creator of the creator itself... and so on... this is just nonsense!
Are you just trolling, or what? If there were a Creator of the universe, He would necessarily not be able to be part of the universe "before" He created it. The "laws" that rule His existence would not necessarily be the same as universe laws. This means that He would not necessarily have to be created at all.

Come on, try to use your brain... you are blindly trusting something written on a book centuries ago, when the knowledge about the universe and so on was a fraction of a fraction of what we actually know, and we're discovering new things every day. Science brought us to the Moon, will bring us to Mars... and, one day, even beyond!
Talk about using your brain. Haven't you seen how I have shown that science proves that God exists? And haven't you seen that the machinery of nature shows that God exists? What book are you talking about? No book needed.

If it was for the bible, we would still grazing goats in the desert, praying for the rain.

The Bible is the Book that tells how to get rid of crooks and murders. Kill them off so that we can live peaceably and make advancements in science... advancements that God set into the fabric of the Universe for us to find. It's hard to do this if there are bad guys around messing up our good work.

I know... maybe, with an enourmous amount of patience, you can lead some of them to think with their own brain, instead of that useless book... but every single fanatic in this world will spread religion as a disease... they are like viruses. They spread that shit all around the globe, infecting people's minds until they join their cult.

Religions and cancer are both diseases... maybe in the future we could discover a cure for cancer, but I'm not so sure we'll get rid of christians, muslims, jews, and so on...

You can't order others what they will think or believe.
We live in democracy after all.
So, I have freedom and human right to believe what I want, the same as you have the same right.
Some people believe in aliens, or monsters, or spirits, or Jedi, and some believe Jesus, Mohamed or Buddha.
So, it's their right and you can't deny it to them.
Only intolerance and hatred is disease and we shouldn't allow it in our society.
Some dictators like Hitler or Stalin tried to destroy religion by killing all religious people or sending them to death camps.
I hope that you are not suggesting such solutions for ''religious disease'' as you call it.

Seems pretty clear to me that you've missed a part of what I've said, here it is: "with an enourmous amount of patience, you can lead some of them to think with their own brain, instead of that useless book". See? I said patience, not guns, gas chambers or executions. So, please, don't put atheism and dictatorship on the same plane.
Anyway, it's true... everyone has the right to believe to any fairy tale he prefers, but... unfortunately for us, we all live in religious countries, even if we're not all religious people. We're forced to live with that shit.
Here, in Italy, we've christ crucifixes hanged everywhere, churches at any damn angle of every damn street. And we have the most powerful mafia organization in the world: the roman catholic church.
We grow up in a world totally permeated by religion... a long time ago, when I was a kid, I had to attend the fucking mass every fucking sunday until, one day, I went mad and yelled "fuck you and your goddamn church" to my parents. They beated me, and treated me like a retard for months... then they eventually gave up, at last!

And, don't forget the methods used by the religious fanatics in the past to "convert the infidels"... who murdered the most?

Enjoy your stupid religion, but keep it for yourself. Stop blattering about salvation, jesus, god and all that shit!
We don't need and, most important, don't want to be evangelized!

Many atheists won't allow themselves to be led, with either proof or the obvious. They'll have to have God show them in the Judgment.

Again just words! And where is the evidence? You have any proof of these "God exists because it can not be!" It does not happen. You like children believe in fairytales.

Flat-eath supporters just post memes, not even logical memes. you are like a kid throwing an aple at people yelling an apple a day keeps the docotr away while you hit people enough that they have to go the doctors. there is not logic behind the statements you make. and even when people show you hard evidence that you cannot disprove. showing evidence of a spherical earth. you just respond with your dumb heres apple..

and as for the image with earth and the ludicrously over sized level imagine that instead of the earth, it be a watermelon, orange, soccer ball. what have you. they all are round and yet take something straight but incredibly small. like the flat end of a toothpick or a needle point. it may be flat. but when it is so small it can be pressed flat against the object. that doesnt mean that the object is flat. but rather that the point is so small.

your entire argument is not out the window.

Be thankful that we do that. Just look, learn and enjoy the truth.

Images can work quite well against monkey man science indoctrination. Look and stop being a globot zombie ape man.

When you research globe earth, you will find that the spinning ball theory doesn't stand up against the globe.

You will also find that flat earth doesn't have enough science behind it to even be a theory.

Cool

Grin Globe = spinning ball earth. You need this to apply in your life immediately: http://biblehub.com/james/1-5.htm

The LOGOS and the Creator which are the highest authority are confirming Flat earth so there is no more debate about that. As I said many times, Flat earth is 100% monkey man science free, guaranteed. But you still can take your worthless monkey man science and stick it somewhere...

Even you flat earth people are really saying globe earth, though you don't know it. The dome is only half of it. The other half is under ground. So all you are really talking about a different kind of globe.

Okay, everybody, it's time to inform you all that BADecker, BobLawblaw and I have been keeping a secret. Here's the video explaining what's going to happen starting next week: NASA confirms Earth will experience 15 days of darkness in November 2016.

Even though it's on YouTube, ergo it must be true, the first two of B,B&B (I'm the third B) will avow its true unless opting to not publicly announce, which is their prerogative. Be prepared! Get batteries for your flashlights.

15 days of darkness spread over 30 nights.    Cool

A day is 12 hours and a night is 12 hours, can I offer you a nice glass of liquid di-hydrogen monoxide to drink?

Tell that to the north and south poles in the middle of winter or summer.

Atheists rely on data scientists, and religion is just a fairy tale at what is not logical. Religion is the opium of the people.

Science theory is not fact. Atheists and theists who believe science theory to be true, believe a fairy tale. If they believe it strongly, they have a religion going for themselves. For example, our present theory of gravity is wrong.

A new paper claims our understanding of gravity is totally wrong

Quote
A theoretical physicist has come up with a new hypothesis that could finally explain the mystery of dark matter - the elusive matter that's predicted to make up around 27 percent of the observable Universe.

According to the new paper, all we have to do to explain the weird effects of dark matter in the Universe is take gravity out of the equation.

"Our current ideas about space, time, and gravity urgently need to be re-thought. We have long known that Einstein's theory of gravity can not work with quantum mechanics", the author the new paper, Erik Verlinde from the University of Amsterdam, told Dutch news site NOS.

"Our findings are drastically changing, and I think that we are on the eve of a scientific revolution."

The dark matter problem stems from the fact that there's more gravity in our Universe - especially in our galaxies - than can be produced by all the matter and gas that we see.

Traditionally, physicists have explained this inconsistency by assuming that there must be something else out there that we can't see, something dark - hence the name dark matter.

27352  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: November 09, 2016, 02:57:27 PM

Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill.
I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it.
Guns are especially dangerous in the hands of people who don't know how to use them (i.e., kids and teenagers) as well as those who are mentally ill and/or have a temper problem.
Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent.
After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, support for gun control increased dramatically.

Generally in America, the support for gun control has outweighed the support for gun rights.
Are gun control laws constitutional?
What would be your ideal set of laws regarding firearms?

Yes I highly agree but it really depends on the owners perspective.  Killing isnt good but if ur doing this for a self defense purposes i dont see any problem with that.  And besides people nowaday espc those who were in drugs doing something out of the norms that might harm everyone of us.  So yes gun is really needed but one thing is fpr sure if u use this it may also the cause of ur death.

YES I agree, Gun was made to kill. That's why gun is not for a citizens. Maybe just one in one million peoples still alive when they are hitted by a gun. Even if they are not die, they will goes to hospital.

Gun not hit anybody. Maybe bullet hit. Gun not hit.     Grin

Fuckin hell Coincube - why didn't you just post a link to William James' "Varieties of Religious Experience" and be done with it ? For someone who purports to be a doctor of medicine you seem to have a lot of time on your hands. I can't see too many junior doctors in the UK, even if they had the inclination for this shit, actually finding the time for it.

You are for real aren't you Coincube ?

Please don't be too hard on Coincube. I probably wouldn't have looked if all there was was a link. It was a very interesting article. Benefits to the social animal by socializing in religious atmosphere.

Cool

I take it you did not like the article practicaldreamer? I will admit I did not look too deeply into the data behind the article but it was written by a professor of epidemiology at Harvard so my assumption is that the data is reliable. Here is the educational background of the author if you want further info.

https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/tyler-vanderweele/

Education: Tyler VanderWeele Professor of Epidemiology

Ph.D. (Biostatistics) 2006, Harvard University
A.M. (Biostatistics) 2005, Harvard University
M.A. (Mathematics) 2005, University of Oxford
M.A. (Finance and Applied Economics) 2002, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
B.A. (Philosophy and Theology) 2000, University of Oxford
B.A. (Mathematics) 2000, University of Oxford

The topic of the article is the relationship between attending religious services and health so it is very much on topic for this thread.

You describe the good professors article as "this shit" so I am assuming you have some problem with the article independent of your kind concerns about my limited free time.

Yes. These days you can find all kinds of benefits listed just from meditating. So, when you add meditating with friends, so that there is comfort in mutual support of ideals, the benefits should be a lot greater. And that is to say nothing about the special benefits that God might bestow on those who worship Him during/within their meditation.

How do you know that I'm not helping those poor kids already? Are you omniscient? Are you your god?
You would have said something long ago.

Looks like she will die shortly. If she does, she will have all the joys of Heaven in the afterlife, joy forever and ever.

Looks like your god put her on earth just to see her suffer and die. How lovely sadic is your god.
God placed her here for her own benefit and for His glory, just like he does with all people. Then wicked men make trouble for people. But God's glory will become even more glorious when He saves His people in the last day.

But you, if you don't change, will get punishment far greater than hers if she goes to Hell. Because you had chance to change, but didn't, while she didn't have any opportunity. In addition, her sins at this young age are few, while yours at a much older age are many.

Cool

I would never love a sadic murderer like your god seems to be, but luckily it's all a fairy tale... pff, risk avoided!  Grin

Now you are calling the loving God who is saving us all, some bad things. He is willing to forgive you in His love for you. But you will have to change and be on His side for that to happen.
