Okay, whatever works for you.

Can you think of a more divisive issue?

Watermelons?

Environmentalists are called watermelons because they are green on the outside but red on this inside.

Thx, slightly confusing, that was.
So, commie, basically ?

Yes, and I would also say just generally aggressive people.  Have you taken a look at Uniqueorn?  I mean, I appreciate his marketing for Nxt, but seriously hostile guy when it comes to disagreeing with him on GW.

Seems like an unproductive topic. If you don't like the asset, don't buy it.  I for one appreciate any asset from valued members of our community.

I hope I´m not to late for silver.

 NXT-4CY9-ABZ9-TAQJ-ELHWU

I have read it also in the blog how my friend told me... who i can get real silver (physical) ?

well the minimum order size is 10 troy ounces and im not prepared to give away quite that much but you can buy enough to make up the difference, you can sell it on the asset exchange, or you can hold onto it and sell it later if you think the price of silver will rise faster than the price of nxt.

With great pride, I announce the launch of the NXT_Carbon fund!

https://nxtforum.org/assets-board/%28ann%29-nxtcarbon-making-nxt-truly-environmentally-friendly!/new/#new

It's basically a carbon-offset scheme financed via the asset exchange, so if you want to offset the environmental costs of your NXT energy consumption, buy some.

Heres the basic info, much more info in the [ANN] thread:

NxtCarbon
ID no: 2182629384137726401
and is only available from:

Account name: NXT_Carbon Fund

NXT-V8D6-R4DW-SMMT-4FTRH
2873065358129731940

NxtCarbon will cost 5 NXT per unit, if everyone donates 0.5% of their NXT holdings to NxtCarbon, we will have more than enough to cover the next 2-3 years of NXT energy use. I've put 5% of my personal stash into it....
Any extra funds will be used to support other NXT community projects, so buy some!

rofl, so now even indulgences can be purchased on the blockchain. please forgive me gaia for i have breathed.

You can now monetize your guilt Lol.

I move to officially declare the new holiday of "breath as hard and fast as you can all day" day. That'll show those watermelons who they are messing with.

can the trezor be set up in such a way to make it so that if your trezor was stolen by someone sophisticated such as a government that they wouldn't be able to get your bitcoins off of it. perhaps by requiring a very strong password to be entered pc side?

Gold will be the next ? Smiley

its on my list of things to do. first is to perfect my technique and start pouring bars that dont have indentations in them. then ill buy a tumbler. then refining probably. then a stamping machine and stamps. then gold.

He certainly needs trust. But, that is gained by transparency. That is gained by a 3rd part audit of his bullion holdings. The only issue I see with this asset is the total asset count doesn't equal his current holdings. This makes the audit harder. Although, I guess there is no way with the ASSET exchange to adjust the number of shares (ounces in his case) based on his warehoused bullion.

its simple actually. 1 trillion units issued. 999,999,999,891.6648 assets in the possession of account NXT-UWKJ-GFEV-AGY4-5C4YS. 1 trillion - 999,999,999,891.6648 = 108.3352. I have 108.3352 troy ounces in total liabilities.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy silver rounds/bars, warehouse them and tie the assets to that storage?

Where is the fun?

I guess if pouring 2000deg metal is one guys idea of fun, more power to him. Wink

What is so fun at pool party with barbecuing, beer and live band... when you can melt metal in hot oven... Oh yeaaaah ! !   Grin   Grin

I think he's planning on making 'NXT' bars eventually...

im not sure if i want to do that or just have a more general brand. but yes i will definitely be getting a stamping machine and some custom stamps at some point. i really need more feedback from the community. there are soo many things that i could do to improve my business. like literally 2 dozen things that i know of already and of course i can only do one at a time so it would be great if i knew what was most important to you guys so i could put that at the top of my list.

some potential upgrades (in the order i think is most important):
buying a tumbler so that bars will come out with a mirror shine
moving into refining
having a custom 10 ounce mold made so i can start pouring 10 ounce bars
getting stamps and a stamping machine
moving into gold

Anon136, I assume the tokens on the AE represent a share in these bars you are showing. The bars are obviously in your possession. So claiming your share would mean that you have to send/ship the physical stuff to that person. We have to trust you for this. So is there a way in which we can eliminate this trust (the crypto world is all about finding trushtless solutions). Even if you are trustworthy then there is the problem of a limited lifespam. What happens if you die (i hope you life long, don't get me wrong).

So i think it would be nice if you could setup a company/organisation/foundation that legaly possesses the silver and would deliver them to anyone who has the tokens. So this company needs to legally acknowledge the NXT blockchain and the silver tokens that are traded on it.

Of course i want to do that, but i have to take this thing 1 step at a time. Right now my concern is getting the community to show enough interest to justify buying a 50 dollar tumbler not a million dollar corporation. I'm worried honestly. Right now im number 17 on the list when im the only asset (as far as i know) that actually has something real to show other than just pie in the sky promises. I'm hoping this will get better when we have more sellers competing with each other to bring prices down. There are so many things that i can do to make this project better. Some would make it a lot better for only a little bit of money, stamping machine and tumbler for example. Something like incorporating and hiring employees who can carry on my work should i die would undoubtedly make it better but at what cost? i need to do all of the things that make it better and dont cost a million dollars before i move onto things that make it better but do cost a million dollars. As for now, the risk that i should die just needs to be priced in, take it into consideration when thinking about how much you are willing to pay for an asset.

I'm trying to get over an issue of PoS coins. If I have 500k coins, why should I distribute any if I'm going to profit by forging?

presumably because there are things that you value more highly than money in the future. i mean you do know that you are going to die someday right?

If you send me a big bar ill just put it in the safe and pull out an equivalent amount of off brand rounds so no worries. Lets try to keep it under 1000 though Cheesy

Want to own a piece of this? Asset ID: 7819056276221630295

Tokens should be hitting the asset exchange any minute now!

Cool! My silver bar looked so beautiful, I bet its melted by now Smiley

Initial demand was good for my tokens, but unfortunately to cover my costs I've had to sell my tokens at above the current price for silver (the price of silver also fell since I bought my bar).

I think once a few more sellers appear, and the price of silver goes back up a bit, the price for silver tokens on anon's silver gateway will track the spot price closely.

It was/is cool to feel the *power* of a monopolist for a while lol

no it isn't melted. i would have to take a hacksaw to it and that would make a bunch of shavings, very valuable shavings. so the big bar just went in the safe and i pulled out 100 ounces of random rounds. santa clause, marry cristmass, happy birthday type rounds. I've been melting those down. If i do ever get to the point where i have to hack up that bar, ill probably have to figure out some way to make sure that i catch all of the shavings. Maybe ill sit inside a childrens swimming pool while i do it Tongue. Either way this is all so fun. I hope the community stays interested long enough for this to work.

sorry to hear that Sad

My hope is that they will diverge from spot and my price can become a better indicator Cheesy. Hey i can dream right.

I appreciate what you are trying to do here. But I'm curious, why add all the work and overhead of melting the silver and making your own bars. Wouldn't it be easier to just buy silver rounds/bars, warehouse them and tie the assets to that storage?

a couple of reasons.

the first is that assets on the exchange lend themselves to heterogeneity. I'll give you an extreme example to illustrate the point. Imagine that i have 2 assets, copper and art. If you send me copper assets i will send you plain old copper ingots. This is good the market can price this in and people can know what they are buying. Now imagine art asset. When you send me an art asset i send you an art. Any kind of art from any artists. People would have no idea what to do with this asset and it wouldn't ever be worth very much except to some people who liked to gamble. Well all silver coins are worth different amounts of money and some people want 100 ounce bars but others would hate them. By creating a uniform heterogeneous product we get better utility out of the asset its self.

when i make my own bars i create a situation where people who buy silver from me dont have to worry about selling to a pawn shop or something. if they ever want to sell their silver than can just send the bars back to me in exchange for warehouse receipts and sell those on the asset exchange. if i sent out any kind of silver i brought in than i wouldn't be able to discriminate in this useful way.

its practice. i hope to move into refining soon and i will have to melt the silver that i refine into bars. also in the future i hope to have a stamping machine and these can have a brand. Perhaps "nxt silver bullion gateway".

With all that said. I have been considering doing just what you said. I guess my asset would consist of any off brand 1 ounce silver rounds if i did that. it would give me reasonable heterogeneity even though some brands are worth a lot more than others.

As long as it is easier than Nxt, i still can't get that shit running  Cheesy

Really? What can't you get running with this client?

http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

My even my grandma runs it fine

I use linux and i get runtime errors running the official client.

What version of the client and what version of Java?

I believe Wesley is planning one click client for Linux too.

Yeah i changed the default java version on my system. I had both java 6 and 7 installed.
update-alternatives --config java

Nxt client works now and i have to say it is amaziing.

fees seem to high though.

you have to understand that with something like bitcoin network security is payed for through inflation in addition to transaction fees. with nxt its only transaction fees and no inflation. so while nxt does offer more security than bitcoin at a MUCH lower price, the price is less hidden.
