Did a quick calculation today and with the current price (rounded to 400$) and electricity cost of 0.15$ per kWh:
Miners with over 1.5J/GH are at loss starting next month
Miners with 1.2J/GH are fine till the end of the year (only)
Those with 1J/GH can live until the end of Jan
---- all this is more than 50% of the network and at pessimistic rate of difficulty increase ( 5b/mo )

It seems we have reached the bottom of the price and it should go up, because there are few miners below 1J/GH and the price of the hardware ($/GH) was not accounted for.
If the price doesn't rise, then the difficulty should go down (don't think that would happen)

In short, heads up and keep mining, all will be fine

9.19  or o.919 here and were offered renewal for 0.8 single tier no peak hours ): . something but were  gonna hold off till Nov see what the  last part next years rates will be , being there suppose give those rates in Nov.  i just hope us waiting doesn't fuck us but that risk you take.

Maybe this is a good sign:

http://www.coindesk.com/hedge-fund-gabi-makes-first-bitcoin-purchase-via-digitalbtc/

If you're going to pick an entry point for a BTC hedge fund, obviously you want to start at a low price and expect upside.

saw that to so we just wait I have nothing to lose unless bitcoins becomes total worthless so we wait and see as so many are saying till then I'm gonna keep farming in my home  it has yet to affect my power no more then normal in fact my power this summer was lower then it has ever been i had lots of  stuff run in 24/7 to test it and see . i can prove it power wise but i won't post that kind of info any place on the webb.

Also been wondering how long the US was gonna  let this ride

Bank crackdown

Jersey – along with another British island, the Isle of Man – is a self-regulating British crown dependency and a tax haven for many financial operators.

Both islands have been touting themselves as attractive, regulated locations for the location of bitcoin businesses in recent months, with some success.

However, the Isle of Man lost some of its appeal last week, as banks decided to cut their ties with the island’s cryptocurrency sector. This caused the local middleman, banking solution provider Capital Treasury Services (CTS), to close all crypto-related accounts, causing shockwaves in the industry. Another solution does seem to be in the pipeline now, however.

Masters told CoinDesk that GABI is connected with a number of businesses that were using the CTS system in the Isle of Man.

“We had our reservations about how all that structure was set up. It seems that the ultimate banks making the payments were not open to cryptocurrency businesses. CTS was forming a kind of a barrier, but ultimately they saw through that,” he said.“We anticipated that and that is why we delayed for a while.”

not just bitcoins = many financial operator

there is more involved there then just bitcons laws it has more to do with a loop hole and way a  business in the US can not pay us Tax buy making  a  US company  base home in one those tax havens. is how it all started we lost so much in taxes and paid US company to do stuff  then they screw us by using that tax loop hole.

My only real worry was  and well its gonna happen because of  greed is regulation ,if  those stupid jerks had seen that it would be nicer for bit coins  but they screwed us all so now we wait and see just how it plays out.

Smiley .

any one see this  might be why the drop ?
may not rebound till 2015 lol

http://bitcoinmagazine.com/16481/bitcoin-price-dropped-today/

I have doubts.    But it makes sense it does.   Iv never.really expected btc to just shoot upwards when needed.   Iv just hoped it will at some point.     Waiting isn't to bad.

It may drop more, it may rise more.   Diff may be really Hugh by than.   But all we can do is wait and hope.

Thanks for that article BTW.

SO the really bad thing is when it drops to 280 $ per coin ? .

which I'm ok with . i think down as low as 90 $ would be were i would stop ..

In the US power is going down not up or were i live here it is for at least two more years.

so that means 280 $  is good for home farmers in The US or parts of it  and bad for big business.

just tiring to get a  handle so i have some idea what to watch and set a limit on .

I know its all guess work but at some point  there is a stop point even for homes .

May not rebound till 2015 lol

If that's so and not till next year i read 280 $ per bit is the cut off for most of the really big farms . sound good for homes maybe if that happens for a bit .

2786  Other / Off-topic / new law on per orders on: September 23, 2014, 09:00:12 AM
I saw in the news to day I don't how long its been in the works but if you buy some thing in the US there  may be a new law being sighed in soon that says any per orders after some many days that are not filled the money has to be refunded . wondering if that will stick to any no refund policy as well. I'm not asking about this not because of bitcoins in Gen some company in the US  do steal form there customers.

wonder how that will affect per orders for mining hard ware .

^ I'm not sure but I would log completely out of Slushs site for 15 minutes, unplug your modem, plug modem back in and then log back in and see what happens. Check your computer and make sure there isn't anything running in the background that you are not aware of. It sounds like an IP address conflict.

Thank you Billbags.

I did all you said. Did not log for a while. But still a little doing it.
Scaring me a little i admit^^

'"You have reached the maximum attempt to... your Ip can be blacklisted" when i want to have a look at statistics page, or refresh it.

What did i do wrong^^"

it's also possible if one refreshes the page 40-50 times a day it does that, maybee I have resfreshed too much, i don't even know what is too much.

GO GO SLUSH!

Yesterday (September 22nd) was my first day mining and I chose Slush's Pool.  I was up a long time going back and forth from "Statistics" to "Account" quite I bit.  I know I did it at least 100 times.  I never "refreshed."  I just went back and forth between "Statistics" and "Account."  That may be the trick to avoid what you are talking about.

Just a thought...

Open two pages side by side then set the refresh every 60 minutes or find out the refresh time is per page  Smiley some browser let you set a refresh i forget how . and which ones  maybe all of them .

I'm using Safari on a early 2011 MacBook Pro.  It does not refresh unless I tell it to.  I'm not familiar with any other browsers.  I've used Mac's since the year 2000 and haven't looked at another PC since.

Just a thought i had . don't care much for mac my  first  ever  PC was a mac .  i do know there are  programs that do it  for both PC and  Mac that  can save and refresh pages.

I started mining back in April took it really slow , started with two PC 's  GPU farming  then in June i found out about USB sticks then in AUG I bought 4 S1 and a S3 is due here on Thursday and two upgrade kits next week some time for the two of the S1 then I'm gonna build cash and buy one S4 and two more kits then look for deals on S2 sense they did say S 2 upgrade kits are coming i plan to have 8 Ants run in my home farm  very and soon sell off hash as i mine  .

hope to get a  L1 in Dec.

Now i wonder what the S2 upgrade kits will sell for if they are still gonna do that and  how much the S2 will drop once they do .

I read some place online the other day about S 2 upgrade kits coming  with NO   ETA yet .

If they do I buy one S4 and look for deals on S2 Smiley   . and up grade like S1 btw i don't mine doing my own upgrades it more fun to me .

Hi,
Please upgrade the firmware with S3's version:
https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633

make sure uncheck "keep settings". after upgrading, select the “miner configuration” tab. Select “advanced” and set the frequency at the default of 225M,  click “Save and apply”, all will be better.

Best Regards

BITMAIN

BTW this works on S1, just did it see if i could and it did . not everyone should  try it , i didn't care if I  messed one up . i have a S1  with the S3 firmware . might do them and wait for the upgrade kits to come in on all my S1.

Sweet thanks!  Afraid I'd done something wrong on the install when everything looked tip top.

Would've been nice if they mentioned flashing the firmware on the video though...would've had them
hashing last night at 1am.

Oh, and for anyone considering the upgrade...you're better off underclocking and undervolting your S1's and paying the extra for the nicer looking (and less dangerous, the heat sink blades are sharp) S3's or at this point perhaps the S4 if you can budget it when they announce the price.  Your money will likely go further...we've now got a pile of s1 boards we're not sure what to do with yet...curious if we can build a large underclocked undervolted machine with multiple blades.

Only problem with the logic of keeping the s1 hashing and buying an s3 instead is....
You need a power supply for the S3 which is more $$$ spent. granted u need to spend $ for heatsink compound.
calling the heatsinks on the kits dangerous is a bit wacky.
buying an S3 and selling the S1 may be the best route but they are going for around $80 now and they are heavy so shipping is near $20.
so it comes down to convenience. the less bothersome route is the S3 upgrade kit and why I chose that route.
Yeah they should be cheaper... but people who whine about prices gain nothing but wet faces.
They are selling so, the price complaint is pointless

3 bucks for the paste that will  last a year or two if you  buy the jar.   makes a lot sense to just upgrade  those S1 and get a S4 or two then your set for what maybe 6 month lol , but by then if you managed what you made right you can buy those upgrade and keep going but yea just upgrade it's cheaper by far you might save all most 230 $  .

for those that don't know you can buy just one off bitmains site some one on the thread posted how to .  but if you don't want to use coins right now on amazon there are two selling upgrades and out pricing each others.
2792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ -B8 VS ANTMINER S3+ -B9 on: September 19, 2014, 12:03:43 AM
To be on the safe side , just buy a good pc psu like cosair rm 750 , rm 850 or rm 1000w.  Quick and easy . Just plug in the pcie slot and mine.

750 or higher should do it per ant s3 i gonna use one HX 850s 80 PLUS GOLD Certified per ant S3 I have two HX 850 in route to me .

I have one RM i use right now but i got a really nice deal on the 850 S so why not Smiley.
2793  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 11:04:33 PM
maybe there is a reason they can't supply the paste customs who knows yea  they could have mounted it or offered that option. but one kit which you can order right from them not two  if the  poster who posted a how to  is right then  the price is right, i know that sounds cheesy .

I don't know yet I'm gonna try once i get two more 0.2 mind I'm gonna try to buy one not 2.  btw i started Ming about a month ago big time and now all most have that  first coin its  been a thrill for me .

Nothing cheesy about that, just a doubting Thomas!
Here's a shot of the account I used (even to get a single S3!)

awesome no doubting on my part i just don't want to confirm some thing i have not done yet . Smiley. unless you do some one else does with proof  Smiley .

and  cheesy I meant the saying the price is right .
2794  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Upgrading the S3 fans on: September 18, 2014, 10:49:38 PM
If anyone is looking to upgrade the S3 fans, I can verify these Silverstone fans do fit.  The connector needs the slightest of modification, getting rid of the plastic ridge at the 3 pin point.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A460TK6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're basically silent at the stock 500 RPM setting.

those fans are nice indeed with a max CFM of 170 if i read it right and most any PMW fan fits I have noticed just trim the Plug.

I'm gonna give that fan a try Smiley.

I ordered two of these i have all so found anything  below a CFM of 100 + does not seem to cool as well as one with a high CFM of a 100 +  so I will  stick with the high CFM  fans with PM

You all keep saying people won't shutdown some miners or w.e.    nobof not that's why you FORCE THEN TO.     Mostly these btc exchanges.   Its called DDOS, which means distributed denial of service,   with the ability to shutdown. Pools or exchanges for a few hours or days.

Price is just dropping,  and the only real way to fix this is for some of these exchanges or pools to go offline for ahwile.

But everyone likes to say people wontbturb them off, no nobody will, that's why u take it offline by force.... Just until price goes up a bit.

Either way.   STOCK MARKET people that's what this is like.

But what about the the big data centers and MS etc they won't shut them down and most of them from what I've  seen can solo mine the crap out of it  with  NP .

wont that  still make it go up all most as fast ?. most of them have access to stuff we as  normal users will never have . I don't want any GOV stepping in tell us how we can do it and can't do .

Maybe some one should form some kind of group to gov it all with very few limits. there has to be control center or will have to be  sooner later or it will get out hand worse then any thing . or get  very chosic without a  set plan in site.

one example is the recent bitcoins hack and the owner of that pool sent out a very heart felt email saying how sorry he was and is making it up to any one in that block and looking for ways to fix it, i know i got that email I was in that pool and still am .

but i do not want  any GOV what so ever getting control over bit coins , bit coins were never ever meant to have that kind of control over it . and i love my country  very much .

and yea slashes pool  atm it doing nicely but i have also noticed not many of the other bitcoins pool  are either when this pool is not  so i go and mine alt coins they usually have a nice trade up during that time .

Another $20 down? I hope we see a reversal soon.... We had such a great day mining 2 days ago.

me to ive been watching, that is kind of a worry. it's still worth it but how low will it drop before it either shots right back to a all time high or just lose value all to gather .
2798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 09:44:23 PM
I thought they would at least mount the heatsinks on the new boards. When I saw they were going to offer
these kits. Now it doesn't seem like such a great deal.

they can't  because of how the upgrade works to me i rather they did not mount them  but as they prefect it and put out more upgrades well see better improvements in how do it etc .
my point is the price doesn't reflect the labor needed to reconfigure. but thats just my not so humble opinion.

I agree there are not really meant for the  newbie or user so to speak more for the DIY that don't  mind and want to save some money and re use old parts  for a time .

ok a but the paste is like 3 bucks paste and that a jar i ordered one off amazon.

Me I'm one Smiley.
Same here I wouldn't mind putting it together but hell attach the heatsinks and include the paste.
Or drop the price some more. I have enough paste to last me a lifetime but that isn't the point.
