281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 10, 2014, 09:06:30 PM
+1   for the community name   conVerts

word "con" means like "scam" or "hoax"... so how about no?
people will decide.
-1

"Convert" (the noun) means someone who has come to believe in something. I think there is no reason to be worried about 'con' in the negative sense for a coin that is clearly not a scam.

So, looking at the rise of DOGE against the fall of MAX, I conclude that all the squeezed MAXcoin grapes are marching in disillusioned, drained hordes back to the safety of Doge after learning a very hard lesson about Max Keiser and celebrity scamcoins?

so much for the gpu/asic proof coin.. this coins value is going to shoot threw the roof !

Wha?

The market value for this coin keeps falling and falling.   It's sliding down the drain, not shooting up anywhere.

Have you looked at what the CATcoin community has been up to lately with the algo/diff simulator app they made to test out different ways to banish their own strip mining demons?  It looks like a pretty impressive effort for a community trying to support a coin that is on life support, not sure if it would apply to MEOW analysis as well.

I was thinking about multipools today... they are motivated by a few things: Profit and Speed. Low diff + lots of hashrate provide both of these things when a coin is getting some traction. I would argue that the SPEED factor plays in quite heavily - they want to get in and get out, dump and roll on (once the diff is increased due to their hashrate blowing up the algo).

The KGW adjusts the diff to make it harder to speed mine and leave a coin hanging on the re-diff. But what about one other aspect - what if a mined coin needed a "cooling off period" or some such other thing that made them unable to use for X blocks that would translate to hours (or even days) when first mined? Once they "matured" they could be spent as usual, but at first they are unobtainable or unredeemable. I'm guessing even a small delay in "usability" would make the multipools run for the hills. Example: Once you mine a coin, those coins are unusable for 120 blocks. If a multipool did a hit and run (without the KGW to fix) the coin left high and dry would also screw the mined coins because they would be in limbo for 120 blocks (and since the multipool had rolled off, the confirm time would be really long... further screwing their hit and run profits). Patient, devoted miners wouldn't care much, just mine and spend as normal, but the hit and run folks wouldn't touch the coin due to its tardy method of payout.

Does this exist? Is it possible with the current infrastructure (just curious). Even a "cool off" of 30 blocks could mean the multipools ignore the coin as "unminable" within their motives.

Nope. I stopped paying attention to them after the devs did the knee jerk fork back near the start of the year. Seemed doomed (as you mentioned).

Maybe they are still doomed, but that makes the renewed effort to develop tools to methodically tackle those issues all the more impressive.

Someone needs to modify this gif to replace the biscuit with a dogecoin or kittehcoin.  I only wish I had the tools for editing GIFs or I'd try it myself!  It's purrrfect!

If you lost out on the huge drop i urge you to join my scheduled pump tomorrow

You guys seen what i did with MOON and TIPS, gonna try to more than double those gains tomorrow.

Don't settle for a loss

Don't listen to him Kittehs he doesn't care one bit about Kittehcoin he is just looking for people to sell to in a pump.

He already posted in at least two other coins threads. He will announce his pump ONLY AFTER he stocks up on the coin. Then he dumps it on you while you pump it.

Which would mean if he's planning to pump tomorrow, he's mostly all stocked up on it now.
So if you want to spoil his plans wouldn't you want to dump everything you've got and wait it out until he then dumps his stockpile (lowering the price further) so you can buy back in lower and end up right where you started - but with the pumper shaken out of the coin?

He isn't pumping Kitteh, what your saying is exactly why he won't announce the coin hes pumping till the set "pump" time.

Oh I see, good point he didn't specifically mention what he is pumping.  So it's implied he is pumping MEOW but he might just decide not to  do that, right?   Still, I don't see why he couldn't come right out and say he plans to pump MEOW and still not do it, not like anyone's going to call the CoinCops on him for breaking his word in any case.

Does anyone understand what's going on with Coins-e?  Why are there bids at much higher prices than the lowest asks sitting unfilled?   Why is there no chart showing the 6h or 1d price history?  Why was MAX launched on such a bizarre exchange in the first place?
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 06, 2014, 11:57:32 PM
lol maxcoin getting sold for 0.1 btc on coins e....wtf

This is just the usual nonsense early sellers selling to themselves to try and establish an insane price as "normal."   It will drop, I expect with this fiasco of a launch MAX doesn't settle above 100 satoshis when it's all said and done.  Probably will end up lower than MEOW.  Going to close all my now-useless miners and back to PrimeCoin and VertCoin, and popping the popcorn while watching this community (rightfully) shove this clunker into the bin.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 06, 2014, 10:55:34 PM

Ooops no stratum messages in this screenie.  But some pools are working.

295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 06, 2014, 10:52:38 PM
37 Gh/s and you're mining on a CPU?

296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 06, 2014, 10:37:48 PM
Holy shit.

A block! I got my 1 freakin' yay.  Cheesy

Edit: balance still shows as zero though. Don't tell me it's stale? ¬_¬

Is that for real? It says officially that as of now we can only do CPU mining. How can you possibly already use your GPU?

It's Cudaminer.

Don't get your hopes up. At this rate even this will be worthless. I think it was a stale block.

That's weird, much lower hasrate, a lot more yay's:   Maybe because on a pool?

LOL:  Warning - while you were reading 22 new replies have been posted. You may wish to review your post.

haha looks like no one can/wants to do a proper launch these days

last decent launch was what... DOGE?

Vertcoin was pretty nice, no serious hangups, everything worked out of the box, but they launched on CoinedUp as their first exchange, which seems to be hosted on a speccy cluster in siberia

This is brilliant !!! so funny...
I've had no joy,but I suspect if you have any clue what you are doing you are going to do quite nicely tonight...

Or if you started mining 6+ hours ago....
