Ah shoot you are right!  This OpenCL SDK only supports Ivy Bridge integrated GPU's (HD 4000/2500).  Dammit!  Well, the SDK is detected in cgminer at least:

cgminer does not seem to detect my connected bfl single ... is there a setting that i'm missing?
If you are in Windows, your basic command line should look something like this:

Code:
cgminer -o <pool> -u <user> -p <pass> --disable-gpu -S COM6

The '-S COM6' is the relevant part for your Single. It happens to be COM6 for me, but it will likely be something else for you.

You'll need to open up Device Manager, go to the Ports section, and you should see an entry that looks like 'USB Serial Port (COMx)'. Whatever 'COMx' is in your case, that's what you put into cgminer's '-S COMx' setting. Then your Single should be detected.

edit: I should add that if your COM port is greater than 9, you need to use the 'longhand' form for cgminer. So if, for example, your assigned COM port for your Single was COM12, your command line would need to look like this:

Code:
cgminer -o <pool> -u <user> -p <pass> --disable-gpu -S \\.\COM12

Hi folks

If I connect more then 10 BFL's....cgminer crash by starting?Huh
If I start 2 instances of cgminer with <10 BFL's ....cgminer run??
Any idee why?
System: Win8 x64, CGminer 2.3.6

Many thanks for help!
Before anyone bashes him on using Windows 8, I would like to say I'm using Windows 8 to mine, with cgminer, and it's working flawlessly.  Mind you I don't have FPGA's or 10+ devices, though.

I will enable my Sandy Bridge GPU in the BIOS, install drivers, install Lucid Logix bullshit if I have to, install SDK, fiddle and then report if I can get stuff working.  Thanks.

It's absolutely gorgeous!!  A+!

Bootstrap works wonders, doesn't it?
Yes it does.  There are enough Bitcoin sites using it that flow so well that I have started to go "hmmmm, I think the next website I do will use twitter bootstrap".  It's almost not worth it to try and re-invent the wheel.

I just looked that board up - Oh shit, that's an nvidia chipset board? Get rid of that thing.  Of course they aren't doing developments for it.  Get yourself the cheapest ASUS with an Intel chipset you can find.  If you are like me, you are losing profits every hour you aren't mining, so it's worth it to sling a hundred bucks to get going again.

I find things all a bit spaced out. It makes the tables in the portfolio and market views a bit hard to read. Is it possible to get rid of some of that white space?
Can't be as bad as the new Google+ whitespace  (not my photo)

287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is the price so stable? on: May 01, 2012, 05:24:17 AM
It's a lot of reasons, but I think the biggest reason is that miners are willing to bring their product to market too cheaply. They can't be making much over cost.

If I sell everything I mine per day, I'm looking at 60% over electrical costs, not too shabby.
Does that take into account your capital investment and maintenance, among other costs?

Capital Investment was the cost of the additional 3 GPU's and 1 powersupply, that was paid off in the fall as the price slid down.
Maintenance - I have had no failures running 24/7 since October.

My net cost for electricity per 24h is ~$2.72 @ $0.103/kWh.

Now if we put a quantitative cost on my time I spend tinkering, I'm pretty sure I'm a factor in the US national debt Cheesy
That's some pretty cheap electricity.  That's why he is at 60% profit.

Love the new Twitter bootstrap look.  Brings the site up to date.

I don't know what all this extra fluff in this thread is about, but I thought I would come here to spread some good karma.  I've run at least 20 websites in the past and I have to say it was a pleasure purchasing a VPS from BitVPS.  The whole process was super easy, the prices are extremely reasonable, the communication was FANTASTIC.  Any website I make in the future will definitely be hosted by BitVPS.  I would recommend them to anybody.

Yeah, what Red Emerald said.

OK, then if it already works how do we pass options to cgminer to fire it up?
292  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hardware issue with ASUS Striker II NSE POST pulse 5830s on: May 01, 2012, 12:54:42 AM
Oh wow, it looks like ASUS recognizes the problem.  If there is one BIOS update for a motherboard even remotely related, you can be sure it is a big issue for your board.  I would look around a little harder for the newest version of the BIOS for your exact model.  The trick is that they will not list the same problem in the release notes, but its probably in the patch anyway.
293  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hardware issue with ASUS Striker II NSE POST pulse 5830s on: April 30, 2012, 10:12:04 PM
Oh I forgot to add. My Asus board has this stupid MemOK feature.  If you insert new memory or you try to set the memory speed to high it will POST and reset something like 10 times over and over until it finds the right speed for the memory.  Maybe your board is doing that to find the right memory speed?  Do you have X.M.P. certified memory?  If so, you can set an option in your BIOS to use the X.M.P. profile of your memory, which is what the recommended setting should be (but isn't turned on by default) and maybe that will fix the problem.
294  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hardware issue with ASUS Striker II NSE POST pulse 5830s on: April 30, 2012, 10:08:51 PM
My first thought was immediately PSU related.  Then you say you already tried another PSU.  Have you tried resetting BIOS back to full factory defaults?

yes i have reset the bios to defaults but i don't remember when i last tried. i do that again.

This is before windows loads so i am not sure if a drive would help. Its almost like its checking the system during post and getting an error and trying again. Kinda like network time outs but with hardware.
Yes this doesn't have to do with the driver.  The driver isn't loaded until very far into the Windows splash screen.  During POST the video card relies on a pre-programmed section of its own BIOS that tells it to initialize, spin the fans up to 100% briefly, check core and mem temps, set initial clock speeds, etc etc.  From your descriptions it sounds like the video card *is* initializing properly, however the motherboard is rebooting over and over and your only indication is by listening the video card fan spin up and down.  If the clock speeds for the *CPU* and memory are off, the motherboard will sometimes reset itself and go back to default speeds for everything.  Also, if the CPU is indicating that it is overheating the motherboard will immediately shut everything off.  For example, you have a faulty thermistor on the board, or the built in temp sensor in the CPU is bad.  It may POST at 180C and go "OH CRAP, SHUT OFF" but it takes 8 POSTs before it registers properly at ~25C.  It only takes a few milliseconds to burn up a modern CPU that has a problem such as the heatsink not being attached properly, so it has to react very fast to protect everything.  I'm just throwing out possible problems here.  Did you ever try a different CPU?

ckolivas, any chance you can take a look at the possibility of churning some code out to take advantage of the Intel HD GPU's integrated into Sandy Bridge CPU's (and now Ivy Bridge)?  Apparently they just released OpenCL SDK to allow access to the GPU portion of the CPU instead of just the CPU itself.  See post #22 here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=71366.msg870723#msg870723

I think maybe if ckolivas is made aware of this SDK he could pump some code out in a week to get this tested.  Author of cgminer for those of you unaware.

298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Paying all longs and btc deposits at bitcoinica! on: April 30, 2012, 09:50:09 PM
I just pulled out of Bitcoinica after using it for months.  The algorithm that determines the spread is rigged, I have no other way to explain it.  The interest rates are nice, but if you look at the history they often fall to 0% throughout the day for no reason.  But the spread is horrendous.  The price on goxlive, btccharts, clark moody can be swinging wildly up and down on my screen, and yet the Bitcoinica spread will stay dead flat for hours.  I'm used to watching real forex spreads react immediately to the market up and down all day.  That's ignoring the fact that the spread is super massive, which limits you to swing trading only.  If you overlayed a candlestick chart of Gox on top of the Bitcoinica "Daily Quote" chart you would end up with a huge "WHAT THE FUCK!?" look on your face.  I guess what that does is even make swing trading impossible.  During any big rally or dip the spread takes so long to react it's impossible to actually make a profit.  I suppose if we were back in the days where the price moved $5 at a time you could make money, but not in this current market.
299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is the price so stable? on: April 30, 2012, 09:41:49 PM
Every day I wonder why the price has been so stable.  I have to step out of my micro view of the Bitcoin world and look at things on a macro scale.  The "gold" rush is over.  There was a time when we were seeing MASS influx of random new people, buying up 50 video cards at a time at Fry's, Best Buy, Microcenter, etc and watching the price skyrocket.  Those days are over.  All the people who are not serious about Bitcoin have left.  It is only the hardcore nerds that are left.  We may have another boom, but this seems to be a time to rest.  I'm basically explaining the charts that everyone posts though, just like the post above me.
300  Economy / Speculation / Re: Look at that blue wall, its so sexy its scary! on: April 30, 2012, 09:37:46 PM
Definitely impending doom, especially considering the Mt.Gox bank holiday.

what's that ancient japanese saying?

don't stand under golden shower week?

anyway, they are still open, dwolla works, uk bank works,   and you can wire to a number of other exchanges, including bitcoinica even.

Wire to bitcoinica, withdrawal via instant mtgox code.  Problem solved.
Ha, such a simple solution.  Spread the word to the other people freaking out, please!  Especially the Goat guy.
